Also the sticky buns, covered with chopped nuts, will feed a family of 4 for breakfast. But I ate a half of one after a long workout. They are sugary, spicy, nutty and delicious. They have seating, both inside and outdoors, and its a shade corner of the shopping area so its a nice outdoor space. GOOD FOR DOGS!!! Coffee is fine, too. read more

The bacon jalapeno baguette available on Saturdays was a great find. I prefer baguettes harder on the outside and this one was less crusty. But the flavor was nice. I also ordered a chocolate chip bun. It was very large and I think she said there are nine chips in it. I microwaved it at home for a few seconds. The texture was denser than a croissant. I think they were out of choc croissants. I will give this place again and try another pastry and/or loaf. Give this place a try for their bread. And go early. This little bakery has the best pastries, and they are all fresh baked. They have croissants in plain, strawberry, and chocolate, as well as cinnamon rolls and bagels. They have premade sandwiches if you're looking to grab a quick lunch. Everything is delicious. The couple that work there are very friendly and helpful. If you like French croissants and fresh breads this is a great bakery to visit. On the Saturday we went at 9:30am the line was almost out the door. We got several fruit filled Croissants, but the blueberry was everyone's favorite. The raspberry was also good. A few tables are inside and two picnic tables are outside. We were referred to this bakery by a friend, and it's all the way across town from where we live, but I'd highly recommend stopping by, no matter how far you have to travel. We were at a party, and someone brought coconut macaroons that were out of this world, and Detour is where they got them. So after eating an embarrassing amount of the macaroons at the party, we decided to go get our own. The owner was there the day we went in, and she's about what you would expect, a super sweet, kind, French lady, that seems very happy she bakes for a living. On top of the macaroons, we loaded up with a loaf of sourdough, a fresh made quiche since it was breakfast time, and some imported French jam - every single thing we got was on point, and now that I'm finally writing a review, it's reminding me that I need to go back, so I'll pry head over there today. read more

OK, I've been in here several more times (at least) since my original review and pretty much all I can say is this place is AMAZING!! I buy a clafoutis every time (love, love them!) and have tried a number of other things. EVERYTHING I have tried has been delicious. Recently, I bought a couple of the individual-sized spinach and feta quiches for me and The Hubs to have for breakfast. FAB! The Hubs made a special point of saying I can buy them again. Very high praise, indeed! This bakery is tucked away in an old, tired-looking strip mall (anchored by my favorite Ace Hardware), but don't let that stop or fool you from coming here. A friend brought some bread from this bakery to my home for dinner one night. Absolutely one of the best loaves of French bread I've ever had here or in France. So when I didn't feel up for baking for a dinner party dessert I headed over to Detour. I bought a couple blueberry clafoutis and some small gateaux au chocolat. The owner was lovely and helpful. The desserts were delicious. You can tell she uses the best ingredients. The gateaux au chocolat had a velvety texture and intense delicious chocolate flavor. Not too sweet. The clafoutis again not overly sweetened so that the flavor of the berries dominated. I will be back! read more

The croissants were flaky, buttery, and tasted on point, but there was nothing special about either. It wasn't like I bit into them and screamed "OHMAHGAWD THIS IS AMAZING". They were just croissants. The plain ones I thought were a bit pricey for what they were. Cute little bakery though with outdoor seating. The traditional loaf of bread was good. Yum! I finally made it to this gem after a few months of it being on my bookmarks. I had taken the pup to the park and happened to drive by on my way home. I decided last minute to stop in and see what it was all about I walked in and the lady(i think she is the owner) helped me right away. She told me all about the mini quiches and I finally settled on Swiss cheese and red pepper. It was still warm from the oven when she handed it to me. I also ordered a chocolate croissant. The quiche was delicious! The crust was amazing! The eggs were fluffy and cooked perfectly! It was SO good. The chocolate croissant was also amazing and tasted fresh.
