Excellent value and friendly FAST service. I really enjoyed my visit and the surrounding area of San Francisco. Value is outstanding here. The prices are very low - especially for a plain cheese 2 slice - I think starting at $7. Its just the perfect thing if you are having a drink or two or three nearby. Fast service. From the time you pay I believe there is somebody working on your order. No time wasted. I was impressed how it was prepared and then even real cheese topping shaved on top fresh. It felt like a lot of care was given to my order. Outside kiosk - two actually. I think one happened to be offline - but friendly fast service inside. Pizza itself - I prefer Square Pie Guys - but this is a by the slice and its not fair to compare with a more formal sit down type place. It is similar to Golden Boy - and that is a more fair comparison. Thick crust - very filling - perfect if you have the munchies.

4.5 stars! Such a deliciously greasy offering of pizza. Really quick service. The pepperoni pizza comes with a great amount of meat and cheese-- just a little too salty. It's a bit expensive for what you get and feels a bit unhealthy to eat but it's a GREAT late night snack.

Came here for a quick night bite! 2 slices for $9.00. The pizza came out super quick and it's affordable. If you're looking for a small, quick bite. Deep dish , cheesy pizza to fill the midnight munchies . This is it. Will definitely be coming back here.

If you want a quick, filling, and cheap slice of Detroit style pizza, this is the place for you! After ordering on the kiosk outside, it took maybe 3 minutes for our two square slices of cheese pizza to come out. It was only $7 total and was able to satisfy my partner and I as an early dinner before heading to a 2 hour comedy show. My partner said it was pretty good, but since it was the first time I had Detroit deep dish style, I had nothing to compare it to and I thought it was delicious! Fluffy and bouncy bread with delicious crispy cheese edges. It's interesting how the cheese sort of separates from the bread (see photo) but the taste is great so it's no issue. No tables inside, just the kitchen, but they have a couple tables outside. Friendly service as well!

Small little pizza place right next to the Roxie with a self order machine that looked kinda tasty so we decided to check it out. We got the proper pepperoni slice for about 9 dollars and our food was ready in about 5 minutes. The guy who served us our pizza was very cool . They gave two slices as seen in the photo and was pretty filling. Super fluffy and the sauce was very tasty. Also the pepperoni was pretty good too. However it was a little salty so I would recommend asking for little less salt. Overall pretty good food and service!!!

Delicious. The order was easy and at a kiosk. No real seating or interaction with anyone outside of someone letting me know my order was ready but that was not an issue at all. The slices were big and warm. Perfectly crisp and flavorful. I added the chili honey which was good but didn't seem to have the chili aspect to it just the sweetness of the honey,

Pretty quick grab-and-go hole-in-the-wall for Detroit slices where you order at a kiosk and get your pizza shortly there after. Compared to regular slices in the neighborhood, these are pretty tasty. However, compared to other well-established Detroit pizza places in San Francisco, these are a bit behind the pack. Cheese Slice: Very bready. Almost wondering if it was parbaked a bit without the topping first, since it was so airy. Like you want a little density, the kind of density that comes from heavy toppings weighing down the raw dough a little. The cheese crust on the side was legit though, nice and crispy. Also, enjoyed the mound of marinara sauce. Proper Pepperoni Slice: Essentially the same format as the cheese slice, but with some pepperoni. I like how the small slices cupped up a bit so the edges were crispy and the center was soft. Could have used more slices of pepperoni in my onion though, since the top wasn't jam packed.

I was craving some pizza late night and saw this place in the Mission open until midnight on July 4th so thought I would give it a try. It was a new place with few ratings, so thought I would give it a try. This place seemed like a togo only place, with two small tables out in case you wanted to eat there. They actually served their slices in 2, meaning you get a corner piece and a regular piece, which is kind of nice because you know you will get a corner which is sought after for Detroit pizza. It took around 5 min to get the cheese and the veggie slices, and the cheese was coming out right from the oven. We took at home to try as it was packaged nicely as well. The crust honestly felt dry for Detroit pizza, so not as authentic as I thought. The flavor was great. The cheese definitely cooled down, so it didn't feel as nice, so may have needed toaster oven treatment. But the cheese was cooled down to a separate layer, so it felt a little cheap and didn't really help the crunchiness of the cheese crust. The veggies on the pizza worked really well, which is what saved the pizza! The person at the front was friendly, and the price was extremely reasonable for the area. Maybe I have to try it again next time when it's more fresh and reheated, but for a place that calls themselves as such, it wasn't the best that I had in the area.

3.5 STARS One of the top drunchies? Pizza. And, Taco Bell if you want a sore bunghole the next day but that's another story. Detroit Square Pizza is the newest player in the game (per staff, sister eatery to Truly Med). They're centrally located near the bars on 16th...making it an ideal drunchie pit stop. They're open for mainly takeout and delivery. O R D E R I N G Contactless ordering via two kiosks outside. You can order ahead on their website but slices are $2.81-$5.26 more per slice. Also, listed on 3rd party delivery apps. M E N U * Slices (2 pc): Cheese, Pepperoni (Ezzo), Supreme, and Veggie ($7-$10 each). Whole pizzas available. * Add-ons ($2-$10): Chili honey, stracciatella (creamy, burrata filling), marinara dip, and white sauce dip. For the bougie, there's truffles, gold flakes and caviar. P I Z Z A * Cheese Slice (2 pc-$7): http://tinyurl.com/3cb6h64n ++ Chili honey (menu: $1, charged $2) --Base: The focaccia-like dough is airy and porous with a light, bouncy chew. But, the undercarriage was on the pale side with minimal browning so it wasn't crispy. --Toppings: Chunky band of bright, flavorful marinara sauce with fresh basil ribbons. Maybe because the top was overdone but the cheese wasn't stretchy, nor melty or gooey. No cheese pulls. =( --Cheese crown/crust: Detroit-style pizza is all about that coveted crispy, lace-y caramelized cheese crown/crust! Unfortunately, the cheese crown/crust was thick and chewy (30 minutes into their opening). It doesn't seem their conveyer belt is an ideal, nor an effective heating device. --Add-on: Chili Honey Slight drizzle, not enough to give you that spicy sweet contrast to the salty cheese. I hope they consider giving customers a small sauce cup of chili honey instead. S E R V I C E Minimal interaction. With no line, it took about 5-7 minutes to warm up a slice. A M B I A N C E Closet sized space (used to be barber shop) with one two-top outside and a couple of random stools/chairs. P A R K I N G Street parking is always an issue in the area but Bart is just down the block. Overall, I had a similar experience to Yarn Y. It was an adequate pizza square if I was barhopping on 16th/Valencia area and had the drunchies. But, for being sober, it didn't quite hit the spot compared to other players in the city: SPG (brick & mortar), Joyride, and Cellarmaker. Not yet, at least. Probably a matter of working out the kinks or the key is to order a whole pizza to ensure it's fresh out of the oven. 3.5 stars rounded up for value and for a new local small business.

Drunk and stumbling around the mission? Find this hole in the wall, get a slice of square pizza and cap off a great night with a delicious, reasonably priced bite.

Want fluffy and crunchy squares? Here's your place. Great small pepperoni, great freshly shaved cheese, great tomato sauce. I don't even like thick crust, but this place has me coming back for more. I bought one slice at first, then came back with my friends and bought a whole pie! Here's my favorite part you can add such extravagant items such as gold flakes, truffles, and Caviar. Yeah, you read that right!

Being a Michigander, I know Detroit style pizza. I was excited when I saw Detroit Square Pizza pop in my neighborhood. Interesting that it's just a block away from another Detroit style pizza spot. Very small establishment, no seating available! Ordering using the kiosks in front was quick and easy. I ordered a pepperoni slice $9 and white dipping sauce $4 (aka ranch). The pepperoni slice was good. Detroit pizza has a delicious crunchy square crust and small pepperonis that crisp up in the oven. Could have used a little more hot honey/chili on top. What I was disappointed in was the "white dipping sauce". Paying $4 for ranch, I was expecting some delicious homemade ranch, but instead was given a small hidden valley packet? Now that's a rip off! Overall, the pizza was good, but you need a good ranch to go with Detroit style pizza!

We were walking and spotted this brand new place . Being the pizza fans we are , we had to give it a try . The pizzas standing in the window looked great so we ordered 2 slices of the veggie pizza . To our amazement , the person picked up the pizza they had in the window that was sitting there for quite some time , no proper heating and probably very dry by that time, cut out the slices and put it on the conveyer belt for heating . The slices were as you would expect them to be after being kept in these conditions - dry and cold (the conveyer wasn't even able to heat it properly ) Ever tried. Eating a Detroit style slice cold ? Not a pleasant experience Businesses need to respect the craft when it comes to food - this place doesn't seem to do that. Very disappointing . They should take a lesson from square pie guys on how to create and sell a proper Detroit style pizza Stay away

Especially given that we were bringing in our own birthday cake to have and share among our friends that night. Service was generally polite but a bit sparse given how busy it was. I specifically asked whether the kids' pizzas were small personal sizes or large enough to share, and was told they were personal-sized. Unfortunately, we ended up with more food than we could realistically finish and essentially paid for a pizza that went to waste, which was frustrating. The food itself didn't quite meet expectations based on the reviews. One of our pizzas also came out slightly undercooked, but the kids were too tired for us to send it back and wait for a remake, so we just made do. Overall, the experience was just okay, especially compared to other pizza spots we tried during our trip. After visiting places like Tony's, which we loved, this one fell short for us. The restaurant was busy and had a decent energy, and others may have a better experience depending on timing. For us, though, it's not a place we'd return to.

It was my favorite for 50 years until a couple weeks ago when I ordered a delivery of Gioia. Wow. I stayed over in The City again this past weekend and had Gioia delivered again Saturday. I designed my own pizza with a Margherita Pizza base and then added pepperoni, Calabrian chilis, and anchovy on the side...well done/crispy. The roasted tomatoes are key...depth of flavor, umami-heaven. I'm a pain in the ass, so I call to make sure my pizza is made to spec. The staff, led by Kait, is unparalleled in their willingness to help. I just cannot recommend Gioia enough. I wish there were one in the 925, but Berkeley is as close to my home as a Gioia is based so far. I've not had a pie from Berkeley, but I believe Gioia is completely committed to maintaining the quality of their pizza. Nothing else comes close IMO. I know there's no zealot like a convert...but I'm not just being a fan boy. Oh yeah...the arugula-avocado salad is YUM, and the dressing for it like crack. DO not forget to check the box for utensils. I did not...California is a request the utensils state...and that's how I know how committed Gioia is to customer service: Kait, CALLED ME today after she'd heard I was frustrated. I can't imagine a customer not being thrilled with Gioia.

Everything about this slice felt fresh, high-quality, and delicious, and it didn't feel overly heavy (though I did feel the need to blot some of the olive oil off the top). JULIAN PIZZA (5/5) I got a slice of the JULIAN, with house-made sausage, kale, and lots of other good stuff. The sausage was some of the best sausage I've had on a pizza, and there was a generous amount of it. The kale seemed like it was fried (possibly naturally in the oven after all that olive oil was drizzled on top) so it added a great textural element. I would 100% come back to try some other flavors.
