Bread sticks were solid: good foccacia, nice crispy cheese, and solid marinara and ranch dipping sauces. Broccolini was roasted well, although a smidge oily for my taste. The Little Star is what we always order, never strayed from it because it has everything I love about pizza: tangy, saucy tomatoes, veggies, and a thick layer of cheese on top of a crunchy cornmeal crust. It's always hit the spot in the past -- but this time it didn't quite meet the mark. Tomato sauce doesn't have that nice acidity that fresh tomatoes have anymore, there was a lot less cheese, and the cornmeal crust felt a bit under-baked. Pretty good prices and big portions. Very filling. The deep dish crust is not too thick and it's crispy. I like the amount of gooey cheese they put on. We got the pesto chicken and the classic which has pepper and sausage. We also got the cauliflower app which was very good too. A pile of cauliflower and the seasoning on it kinda made it taste like calamari, in a good way. We also ordered chicken wings. Each chicken wing was pretty small but had a good flavor. The desserts are very good as well. The lemon bar wasn't too sour and tasted home made. Cheesecake was very creamy and the brownie very chocolatey. I really miss the Divisadero location. We ordered chicken Mediterranean deep dish. It was good but not nearly the same amount of chicken. Crust was great and I'm not a crust eater. I'd rate Valencia at a 7 compared to a 10 at Divisidero. My understanding is that the two locations were run separately. This place is conveniently located close to MUNI 22 but that bus can be crowded especially when you have to stand and balance the pizza. We no longer have the option of walking. Prices are reasonable for San Francisco. I like this Little Star just not as much as the closed Divis. read more

After mourning the closure of the Divisadero location (RIP), we ventured to the Mission Street spot for a late lunch. The vibe here is much brighter, with big windows that give it a lively and airy feel, definitely a nice change of pace. We lucked out with happy hour pricing on a pitcher of beer, which paired perfectly with a large Caesar salad and a big pie (broccolini, mushrooms, and sausage) to share. The salad was spot on! tender lettuce and what I'm almost certain were house-made croutons (delicious and crunchy!). Came here for happy hour and it's an excellent deal; $7 personal pizzas, $5 glasses of wine, $7 meatballs. This is my favorite pizza in the city by far. Better than Joyride Pizza (way better), A Mano, Doppio Zero, Delarosa, Fiorella, Amici's East Coast Pizzeria, and Montesacro Pinseria. Deep dish pizza galore! Little Star deserves all the stars! If you're a fan of deep dish pizza, this is the place for you. If not, then try their thin crust pizza. They also have salads, sandwiches and sides. If you're into salads, the "little gems" are young romaine lettuce. What makes their deep dish pizza stand out is definitely their crust. The crispy crust gives a strong structure to the pie and a delicious last few bites before moving onto the next slice. The deep dish pizzas come in two sizes, 9 inch or 12 inch. The 9 inch is probably good for 2-3 people while the 12 inch is plenty for 4-5 people. Of course, if you're like us and love leftovers, order a bit more so you can savor it at home as well. Just be sure to account for the cooking time - they take about 30 minutes to come out of the oven. While you sit in the comfortable chairs waiting for your meal, soak in the city atmosphere and witness the occasional take out order. Also if you have children, ask about coloring sheets. Our server, Bryce, knew exactly what we needed before we even asked and gave out a couple sheets for our little ones to keep them occupied. Consider using the restroom which is pretty clean but be aware that the entrance cross paths with staff passing through so look both ways and walk. When the food was served, it came out hot and fresh. The cheesy garlic dippers and pizza were presented beautifully with a good amount of seasoning and sauce. If you want some more Parmesan cheese or red chili flakes, you can sprinkle some from the shakers on the table. The Little Star had a good combination of vegetables. Everything came pre-cut and was easy to share. Needless to say, we dug in right away and got instantly full from one slice of each. We didn't have room for dessert but they do have a couple options on their menu (cookies and cheesecake). Overall, Little Star definitely deserves the spotlight for their excellent deep dish pizza and exceptional quality of service and cleanliness. I would go as far as to say that this may be my favorite deep dish pizza place yet. If you're on the east bay, this is worth the drive and the bridge toll. Jose and his team at Little Star Valencia completely exceeded my expectations! They went absolutely above and beyond to make my birthday party at my home incredible--with Little Star as the centerpiece for the day. I spoke to Jose the week prior and he recommended I schedule my delivery with them the evening before on Postmates--Jose made sure to get in touch with me to confirm exactly when I should have it delivered and his team brought six boxes of delicious pizza to my kitchen table. We also had a group with a lot of dietary restrictions -- including no pork -- and Jose made sure the bbq chicken pizza didn't come with any bacon. I also ordered pesto chicken and a Mediterranean pizza and they were absolutely beyond. The quality of the pizza was amazing and the group couldn't have been more pleased. Omg! Little Star Pizza really deserves a visit If you haven't been there. The thin cornbread crust pizza selection is amazing and the salad selection is five star. I usually go with a friend and we can split the small mixed salad and each get our own small pizza (I love the Italian combo) and thankfully have some left over for breakfast in the morning. I got to try Little Star as part of a friends' gathering. I apologize if any of the pictures are partly mislabeled - I didn't keep as good track of what's what for the meat-containing dishes. Here's my thoughts on the ones I ate: Cheesy-garlic dippers - It was basically just garlic bread. It was alright, didn't particularly stand out to me. I think it could've used stronger flavor overall. I didn't try it with sauce, just ate it plain. Roasted broccolini - I was surprised that it was kind of spicy, but that must've been from the chili flakes. It was just okay to me overall. Greek salad - This was also okay, but not particularly remarkable. If anything, I think it could've used even more cheese. I didn't try the vinaigrette/sauce. Vegetarian deep dish - This was the only one that I really liked a lot (probably would've considered this closer to a 4 star whereas the other things I tried, more like 3 stars) so I had a full slice of it. I felt it was flavored enough that it didn't taste only like tomato sauce. I didn't really like the mushrooms in it, though, and I found the crust to be very plain.
