Let's start with the STAR of their menu - the Special Breakfast Sandwich. This delicious delectable mouth watering want to inhale but also savor every bite breakfast sandwich - is made up of a delicious buttermilk biscuit, bacon, scrambled eggs, Pepper Jack cheese (YES PEPPER JACK!), avocado and toped with the most flavorful lemon garlic aioli. HIGHLY recommend this sandwich - it is SO GOOD - every item in the sandwich plays well together in harmony with the most perfect symphony of flavors AND texture!! Hmmmmm....... The hype about this place is real but it is also a bit exaggerated. Was looking for some breakfast this morning and this place was on my list of Yelp bookmarks for breakfast. In having talked to several of my co-workers about good places to go for breakfast they all suggested this place to me some time ago. Today I found myself near the beach and this was going to be my breakfast spot. As foretold by many that I know, there was a line out the door. There were also plenty of people waiting for their food seated outside as well. I walked in line and waited patiently. The first thing I noticed was the pastry case. Lots of pastries behind the glass. Clearly there was a rush this morning because most of the shelves were empty. The menu is very straight forward. From pastries, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, tea, etc. The offer what most breakfast/brunch places tend to offer. The inside of this place is rather small and compact. There are several stools for sitting but not enough space to move around. Put it like this, the line descends into the sidewalk because the distance from the pastry case to the sidewalk is less that 8 feet, roughly! The nice thing about this place is that they have an order and pickup sign. That makes a huge difference. There is not uncertainty when you arrive where you need to be in order to get your food. There were about 6 employees working today. I guess that is the normal amount of employees to have. This definitely made a difference in expediting the line. THAT IS COOL!!! Customer service is good as well. Greeting followed by an order request is always a plus! CHEEE. I ordered the Special Breakfast Sandwich because I have heard enough comments about it that I had to try it myself. I also got a chocolate chip cookie just to see if it passes MY COOKIE test. After placing my order I waited and just took in everything from this place. The books, the kitchen, customer engagement, speed of service, and overall experience are things that I monitor when determining how well a business functions. After waiting for 5 to 6 minutes I received my food and was on my way. Excellent. When I got home I opened my food and examined my sandwich. Not the biggest sandwich in the world but decent. I saw the eggs and could smell the avocado. NICE!! First bite, good! Not sandwich that I rave about but more of a snack. I finished eating the whole sandwich in under 3 minutes. I mean, it was good but gone to fast. The reviews that I had heard made this sandwich seem like the GODZILLA of breakfast sandwiches, NOT THE CASE! Quality sandwich yes but not the GOLIATH that is made out to be. If the sandwich was doubled in size then this would be a TOTALLY DIFFERENT REVIEW. But hey, if you like the special breakfast sandwich go and have a great SNACK! As far as the Chocolate Chip cookie. It passed the texture test. It has passed the chip test. The only discrepancy is that the cookie was not as soft as I thought it would be. Maybe I got the a bad cookie or something but mine was too hard. That does not fly for me. The appearance and size was great but the taste was just NOT GOOD. I expected so much better from this place based on the reviews and recommendations. If this can be fixed then this review can be updated to a 5 star review. Overall, I would come back here if I happen to be in the area but I would not come back because I craved something from here. It is nice that this place is close to the beach. For all the surfers that build up an appetite after being out in the water all day this place is convenient. Let me start by saying that I so desperately wanted to love this place. A nice store front, and a product that I can get behind. I was sitting out in the sun, and it was a perfect day for a biscuit sandwich. I ordered the Special breakfast sandwich, and it took quite a decent amount of time to make, which I presumed was because they were making everything fresh (which seriously seriously excited me). After basking for a bit of time, I received my sandwich with much anticipation. I dug in and was saddened with my food. The biscuit had a very stale texture. Tough on top and not exactly soft, fluffy, or flaky on the inside like I was expecting. It seemed more just like a casing rather than a fluffy buttery biscuit. Egg was okay, and the avocado was not received well. Bacon was solid and the garlic aioli had big flavor. Overall, very underwhelming. A disappointing experience. When it gets busy, it's definitely busy with a wait but it's great to see that in a neighborhood business! Breakfast sandwiches are always a treat and fresh because they're put together to order. Been here many times before . Glad to see the wait times are down dramatically. Biscuit is more like a hybrid of a crescent and bread than traditional southern style biscuit. Bacon could be improved upon especially with so many thick cuts apple wood selections available. Even Costco has some decent thick cut bacon would improve the sandwich. It can get a bit messy but messy is good sometimes. I recommend getting a whole or half Sourdough round is a must, soft and chewy with a nice crust. Can't go wrong. Their breakfast sandwiches are really good, although personally I could take or leave the aioli because I'm not big on hot sandwiches with mayo. For baked goods, the cinnamon roll is the best I've ever had and the donut muffin is exactly what you'd hope the combination of a donut and muffin to be. When there is a line out the door on a Saturday morning, there is a sound reason for it. The breakfast sandwiches on homemade buttermilk biscuits are decadent and divine. The special breakfast sandwich includes - two eggs scrambled (silky smooth and fluffy), with pepper jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon (nice crunch and protein w/o being overwhelming), avocado, and their self-proclaimed "famous lemon-garlic aioli". The only slightly disappointing factor to the sandwich is the texture of the biscuits. They are much denser and less flaky as I would have expected. The biscuits on the tray off to the side looked much taller and fluffier. Other notable treats include their cinnamon bun, which was crispy on the outer layers and fully covered in cinnamon sugar in each layer of soft dough. Really tasty, but rich, so have a glass of milk close by or split up over a few seatings. The savory beer cheese and green onion scones were quite dry. I'd recommend heating them up in a toaster oven or perhaps requesting that they be heated through to activate some of the oils. The worker ringing me up at the register asked me if they could heat it up for me and of course, I said yes! I loved how this roll didn't have an overly sweet frosting drizzled on top--the melted and buttery cinnamon sugar was the perfect sweetness. The visible layers when I cut into the roll looked so delicious and this was confirmed when it all disappeared into my stomach. The cinammon rolls here...YUMMM! Not your average cinammon roll that's smothered with a bunch of sugary cream cheese topping. It's just straight up cinammon roll-- dense middle but fluffy and a little bit of crunchy goodness that continues to wrap around into a delicious bun. I think the little bit of crunchiness comes from the brown sugar crystals they use in between the layers. It's really big though so I usually have to finish one in two sittings. Half for breakfast, and the rest for dessert after dinner :) I really liked their soup of the day, which was cream of broccoli! So yummy and savory. The coffee is good here too. I was surprised that I had to wait for 20 minutes there for the coffee, but I think I might have just been unlucky and was in between the times when they were waiting for the next batch of coffee to finish brewing. I went there on a weekend morning and there was a line, but their employees are pretty efficient in taking the orders quickly so the line moves fast. Love, love, love their special breakfast sandwich. I've had one of the breakfast bowls but always end up getting the sandwich. The beignets on Sundays are the bomb! Everything takes forever though. I order online now rather than stand in line and then just pick up my food and head out. The line is very long and everything is cooked to order which is awesome but when you're in line for at least 30 minutes and then wait another 30 minutes for the food to come out, it's a lot of time doing nothing. I definitely head across the street and order a cup of coffee at the one cup at a time place and they are awesome. I like their coffee a lot. It is also made to order and they have a ton of different varieties. I know the reason for coming to Devils teeth is for the baked goods and there are numerous reviews on those with multiple details. I'm doing a review on their eggs since I'm on an extreme low carb diet and one of my best friends was feasting on baked goods that day. The three eggs in a bowl is awesome, dare I say life saver. One of my weakeneses is biscuits and we all know how good the biscuits are here. I was almost about to cheat when I saw the eggs in the bowl order. I then happily ordered that and added cheddar cheese, avocado, bacon and their garlic-lemon-aioli. WOW! that was good. It's one of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Good bite on the eggs an enough seasonings and flavor. The avocado was good and the bacon and cheddar shines. I was finally able to take my younger brother here to try the breakfast sandwich who is visiting from socal. After we order the cashier and barista were very persistent telling me, my brother and his friend to wait outside bc of covid. Totally respect it but when you have workers not wearing mask, talking directly facing the food their making was unfair. Caucasian ladies were all able to wait inside without being bothered made us and another guest uncomfortable.
