So this has become one of my go to's for a delicious dinner and have become a regular. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable on the ingredients and foods. They have added a prix fixe dinner and you can choose between different items. I love that the menu changes seasonally so I can try new things. The cheese is always paired deliciously. Last time we had a pairing with a nut brittle and it was so tasty. Another pairing had roasted garlic and it's chefs kiss. The duck prosciutto added additional flavor to the cheese. They added a delicious mustard (my cousin doesn't like mustard but she likes this one) and cute little sweet/spicy peppers for so many flavor combinations. This place has so much potential. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like they are being guided down the right road. The prices are way too high for the quality of food you receive, location, and ambiance. You're in downtown San Jose not Marin or Los Gatos. Take it down a peg. The outside area only had one table at the time and the lights were off so I will try again once the shelter in place is over. The "crab" was so minced up it was like eating tuna fish from a can baked in a pretentious world market dish served along side (not enough) toasted French bread slices. Twenty Dollars!!!? The bottle of Sauvignon Blanc I picked out went well with my $20 "crab" dip and my roommates $16 Mac n Cheese but it wasn't anything special. Pretty basic. Before I decided to posted this, my roommate gave their Dinner To go during Covid a try. Smh. It sounded great on paper but wasn't nearly enough for her and her Bf. I asked for a cheese to try. Dinner for 2: Spaghetti Bolognese Salad Bottle of red wine Dessert The dinner came with two tiny containers filled with spaghetti you had to cook yourself, pasta sauce that needed to be heated, a tiny salad and a couple spoon fulls of Creme Brulee. $60!!!! Where's the food and why are the customers left making everything? This isn't Papa Johns. The 3 tiny balls of cheese came in a tub filled with extra Virgin olive oil. It was fresh and creamy but it wasn't cowgirl good. All in all I'll give them another try because I really want them to work out. Especially since they're right around the corner. Plus once this shelter in place is over I'm going to need a chill place to hangout with my dog and have a few glasses of wine. If it were my place I might consider membership options, which include wine tastings, discounts and maybe even outings to local wineries. Food for thought. read more

We parked a block over by the meter (free after 6 pm & weekend) by St. James Park. Beautiful cheese case displaces by the entrance, we were greeted nicely by the owner. She's kind and genuine. This place has been her baby in the making for years, finally came to life. Her husband is a fromager; he owned a wholesale cheese company and it only makes sense this place is "Cheese Centric" Bistro, a few more dishes, small wine list but are just right for pairings. Came with my parents and the hubby so we could try a bit of everything! The pasta with 4 mushrooms Sugo was delicious, tasty, meaty like and generous portion. The Short Rib with polenta was so good, the rib falls apart and melt in your mouth. Hubby enjoyed the Mac & Cheese a lot. It seems to be higher price point for this one, but they use the best cheese there is! Cuban Sandwich, I really enjoyed it. Love the side Kale Salad, wish they offer this as a salad, I would order more! Mom and hubby loved the 10 years aged cheddar from Wisconsin. That's where my hubby grew up! Dad and I enjoyed the blue cheese with caramel butter, yum! The Squash was lovely too as a side dish! And the "Raclette" cheese melted over potato was cheese good. With pickled on the side to balance it out, such a nice touch. Nothing is this area that stands out and a much needed bistro here, especially for cheese lover and cheese head like my hubby, you guys are going to love it here! COVID EDITION REVIEW: My friends came down to visit right before the third wave lock-down so we were able to try this place! The restaurant took reservations and had outdoor dining open at the time. There is a decent amount of street parking near the location so you will easily be able to find a spot. The tables were spaced about 6 feet apart as well and the waiters all wore masks. We ordered a couple of cheeses. The price on the menus are per ounce of cheese and per ounce of charcuterie. Each cheese is also sectioned off by its "hardness" and has its own special toppings and side that they are paired with. My favorite was the Camembert Fermier. For the first time eating and experiencing cheese boards, the waiter was super helpful and it was super delicious. Would recommend anyone who wants to try a cheese place to go here! read more

Last night we brought A's parents, who like what they like and sometimes have strong opinions. Dad got the short ribs and said that they were the best he's ever had. Very high praise from the carnivore. Mom got the shrimp and crab pot pie, I got the Cuban sandwich and A got the mushroom pasta dish. The three of us shared our entrees with each other and they were all delicious and got rave reviews from each of us. (Mom thought the Cuban was just a little too mustardy, but she was wrong. It was delicious.) In the past we've gotten other dishes that were also delicious. I'm a sucker for mac and cheese and almost always order it whenever I see it on a menu even though I'm almost always disappointed. Not here. It's cheesy and sophisticated while still being a little homey. Their cheese selection is top notch. Order the cheese course if you like cheese. The service is attentive and pleasant and quick. The owner who does the cooking is fun and really knowledgeable about wine and cheese. A cute, cozy, small restaurant that felt like we were in a romantic movie. They greeted us with such joy and openness that we just instantly felt like this will be a great time. The cheese list is great and our sever gave amazing recommendations and pair them a little differently with items other than just jam which gave it a great twist. Pickled items were delicious along with every other item we ordered. Our server was joyful, funny and gave my wife a little birthday treat as well at the end. This place is great for couples, small groups, and just highly recommend giving them a try. Even during covid 19 we felt safe, masks on, no problems. Book a spot you won't regret it. The Brillat Savarin - French/Cow--triple cream, dreamy and delicious, with hints of mushroom was was amazing! It was served with crostini that was toasted just right and roasted garlic. Next we had a cheddar that was served with cookie butter and additional crostini. That was great too! We rounded out the cheese with the prosciutto which was paired with small pepper drops and cornichons...delicious! We split a bottle of the Onward Chardonnay which was great with the cheeses and prosciutto. It was served well chilled, which I love. For dinner, I had a pasta with salmon, asparagus and cream sauce with the most incredible zing of lemon. I was so, so happy with my dish. My friend had the short ribs with polenta, and she also thought her dinner was delicious! We each had a glass of the Beaujolais, and it was lovely. Was there with a friend and we picked 3 different cheeses for $7 each (besides other things like wine and charcuterie) and for cheese worth $21 the amount was so small that it felt like being ripped off. I like being able to try many different cheeses, would have also considered ordering more after, but we both agreed these amounts were below the threshold for being acceptable given $7 each.
