We bought a replacement dishwasher from Judd and Black at Mount Vernon. We had an excellent salesperson, Paul Dioguardi. When the dishwasher was delivered, it turned out that our floor was not entirely level and there was not a sufficient amount of clearance under the granite. The installers were fantastic, they showed me how they could knotch out the trim, cut the tile, and shim the appliance so it would fit. I was extremely impressed with how hard they worked to make it possible for the dishwasher to fit and how experienced they were with regard to fixing challenges on the fly. Side note, they installers did not leave a mess and cleaned up after themselves. I greatly appreciated that. read more

We purchased a dishwasher and a refrigeraor/freezer . We never received the top parts of the fridge and no explanations. The dishwasher was and is a nightmare! It has leaked and had other problems since day 1! They came out and stated they fixed it several times and it continues to leak. Then they said tge warranted time was up and that we would get a refund. We tried to contact them about a refund and of course they never responded. Each time we make contact they say they will get it resolved...but here we sit. We will NEVER PURCHASE APPLIANCES HERE AGAIN. We are in the market for new appliances and always try to buy local, but when we are met with dishonesty, poor quality, and no follow-through we can no longer do this. We had a great experience with stove and a washer but incredibly frustrating situation with a refrigerator. We've had one delivered 3 times and they've gotten it wrong every time. First it was the wrong finish and they very graciously promised to replace it with what we wanted. It showed up but the door had two large dents in it. We sent it back. The third delivery has the doors to the fridge and freezer doors interfering with each other when they open and the buttons for the screw holes would not fit and broke. In trying to fix the door problem, they made it worse. There are no covers for the hinges. They've promised to fix it next week. We shall see. Will update then. read more

I ordered a gas range on Nov. 29, I needed it before Christmas. was told it would be in store the following Wednesday, called Wed., they said maybe next wed. I called on wed. they said Friday. I called Friday...finally it came in. The lady said they do not install gas ranges and they needed to arrange with another company to get it done. that company called and can't install until January 13. I have purchased appliances for three homes from Judd & Black in Mount Vernon, WA over the past three years. Each time, I worked with Chris Duplisea. Our most recent purchase was the replacement of a large combination refrigerator/freezer unit. Before selling the unit, Chris had the Judd & Black installer, Todd, come to our house to measure the existing cabinetry and spec the trim kit. Todd's approach was, "how do we make this work and look good", not "what's a reason we can't install this unit". We were dealing with less than 1/4" tolerances in the existing cabinetry. This unit was our only option, so Todd's approach was appreciated. Todd and Rob installed the unit this week. The installation was perfect. I can't say how much I appreciate Chris quarterbacking our appliance team at Judd and Black. He is my "go to" appliance guy. He finds the best solution for our needs and follows through until the appliance is installed to our satisfaction. I couldn't ask for anything more. read more

Having done business with Judd & Black for a number of years, I would love to give them a five-star rating because of the excellent sales staff's responsiveness, careful listening, and knowledgeable help. However, after purchasing a KitchenAid refrigerator, we have had to replace the lighting three times in the last two years! One replacement lighting was covered by warranty. This most recent time, we elected to order replacement lights, but were given the wrong part number to order. Although this was not our mistake, Cassandra in the Parts Department refused to refund the entire amount, reserving $5.34 for their shipping expense. This was not our mistake! Why should we be charged for shipping? We are not complaining about this meager amount of money; it is the lack of good customer service that is the issue here. I've been a customer of Judd and Black for years. No more. Today my husband went in to see about ordering a new heater box for our used dryer. He was dressed in work clothes as he had just finished diagnosing the broken dryer. He was treated with disdain by the salespeople, and the technician couldn't even be bothered to come out and speak with him or look at the part when asked. The only person who tried to help and had any sense of decent customer service was the girl at the parts desk. I feel sorry for her having to work with the others. We eventually found the part ourselves online direct from Whirlpool and the part will be delivered to us. My husband and I are saving to buy a house. We are currently in a rental with a used washer and dryer. We are waiting to buy new machines when we move. We have previously purchased parts from Judd and Black when needed. We WON'T be buying parts or new machines from Judd and Black. I won't do business with them ever again. read more

I wanted to say how much we appreciated Brett Grinstead's help in finding the perfect range, downdraft and double ovens. We are doing a complete kitchen remodel. He was very patient in going over the pros and cons of various appliances. The prices were more than competitive. Excellent customer service from a very knowledgeable sales associate. Brett has kept us informed while we have been waiting on items as to their anticipated delivery dates. Please note that while there have been some delays it is due to supply chain issues and not Judd & Black's fault. I see these types of delays in my own work and little if anything can ever be done. Our microwave quit on us one morning and we needed a replacement quick. Finding one with a trim kit, that anyone had in stock, was proving difficult. Chris at Judd and Black in Mount Vernon really came through for us when no one else could. He was able to not only find the microwave we wanted, but he also got his hands on the trim kit so we could have it all at once, and he did it all at a better price than we could have found anywhere else! As soon as we walked into this store, salesman Chris Duplisea greeted us. I told him what model we were wanting, and he took me right to it. We agreed to the advertised price, but he did a price check, and found a competitor was selling this model for $100 less. He sold it to us at the lower price, then arranged to have it delivered and installed in 2 days....and have the old one taken away. This is best retail buying experience I have ever had! On Thursday 6/25/2020 @ 1:13 PM, I purchased a new, in-stock, Bosch 800 series dishwasher from this company. The entire invoice, including the installation charge, etc came to $1620. At the time of the purchase I specifically asked for the install appointment date/time. The sales person stated the he "had emailed" the schedulers and that they normally get back by the end of the day. I was informed that I would be contacted. On Friday, 6/26/2920 @ 3:05 PM (over 24 hrs later) I had not received any communication regarding the install, so I phoned the company and asked to speak to the sales person. I was told he was with a customer and was asked if I wanted to leave a message. I left a message informing him I had not heard from anyone regarding my install appointment. Over 6/27 & 6/28 I waited to receive some communication from the company. NOTHING! On Monday, 6/29/2020 @ 2:37 PM, after not hearing anything, not even a telephone response from the sales person to my message, I AGAIN called the company and was able to speak to the sales person. After explaining that I still had not heard from anyone, I was told that according to his information there was an attempt to contact be shortly after 1:00 PM that very day, but they were "unable to leave a voice mail message". (NOTE: The only contact phone they had was my cell phone, which showed no attempts, no missed calls, and no voice mail attempts). I was informed by the sales person that he would again email them to get the install scheduled. On Tuesday 6/30/2020 @3:00 PM, I still had not heard from anyone. I drove down to the company, told them I was no longer interested in doing business with them, cancelled my order, and got a full refund. On 7/2/2020 @1:30 PM, I Purchased the same appliance at a nearby competitor for $163 cheaper and it was installed at 10:30 AM the very next morning. read more

Here was our experience: Ordered a Bosch dishwasher over the phone - pre paid for it to be installed. After two weeks, we hadn't heard anything so I called to inquire. "Oh, yes it's sitting here. You should be hearing from an installer to schedule." We did and scheduled it for a Tuesday (2 weeks later was the first chance to get on the schedule). Tuesday came - no installer - no call - no nothing. After three hours, we called the store. They had no clue about our order or our installation. My husband was on hold forever and eventually disconnected. After calling back, the install was rescheduled for the next day at 9am. It's now 45 minutes later and still no installer. I am on the phone now with the store manager asking for a credit and just got disconnected. That said, he WAS willing to credit the install fee before the phone went dead. My opinion - go elsewhere. read more

This positive review is long overdue...in June 2021 we ordered new Kitchenaid double ovens when the old ones died. We paid in full at time of order ($3600) and waited and waited and waited...since they were 27" ovens, very hard to come by with Covid supply chain issues. We called every 6 weeks or so to check. In November 2022, we called J&B to get our money back, and decided to wait until they were in stock. They refunded our money in 2 days and kept us on the wait list. We had a plan B for Thanksgiving, but then we got a call that they got a delivery and wanted to install the day before Thanksgiving! The first contracted installers did the installation and left after 1 hour, but the ovens did not heat up! And they wouldn't come back! So we called J&B and they sent one of their own technicians who couldn't get the ovens out again to check the wiring. Then after a 5 hour ordeal the afternoon before thanksgiving, they sent out a 2nd technician to help and they got the ovens out and wiring corrected! Thanksgiving was saved! J&B went above and beyond to get our ovens installed (after waiting for 18 months) and late on thanksgiving eve when lots of folks head home early. Great job! read more

Why are the people on the phone in the service department so horrible??? Rude and condescending. I HATE having to call in for anything because I have to deal with the witches on the other end of the phone. Plus service is always at least 3 days out!!! Hire a few more techs!!! The techs that have came out to service our appliances have always been nice and informative but they never take off their shoes or put on shoe covers. I shouldn't have to clean up dirt that you knowingly track in. Rediculous. What ever happened to great customer service? I try my best to make things easier for you!!!! Hands down the best appliance purchasing experience we have ever had. Chris, who was our appliance pro, went to culinary school and with his expert product knowledge was really able to give us the insight we needed to get the best appliances for our needs, likes and wants. Their selection was awesome and they really worked with us and their prices were the best we could find. We got everything from them. Washer and dryer, refrigerator, dish washer, range, microwave and they are ordering us a new Traeger Grill. Because of their pricing we purchased the warranty on everything we could which they back and service themselves for 5 years. We love our new gear! Delivery was fast and smooth. No harm to our appliances or floors/walls. The microwave did have a dent on it and Chris jumped on sending a new face plate and having it replaced for us. Terrible customer service. Bought a gas range and started leaking gas less than a year after purchase. Called service department 3 days before warranty expired. Someone came out a week later and said it was the gas company who needed to fix it. Called Handys heating and the gas company to come check it out- both said it was the appliance. Called J&B and told them and they said they'd be out the next morning. Service guys phone died and couldn't find our house. Terrible communication and extremely unprofessional. My story is long, no one wants to read a long boring review. But i feel completely compelled to write this review that i rarely do. I bought one of the first Weber peller smokers available from this store in mountvernon. It turned out to be the worst purchase i have done in a ling time. Everything from family dissatisfied and embarrassing cook outs with friends. I have been a loyal Weber fan since i was a kid and my grandfather back in the 70s had one that reminds me of the old cars of the day. Buildt like a tank. But Weber had a chance to build on that experience from there first attempt at a pellet smoker. It was a good attempt but a complete failure. After a few phone calls to Judd & black there customer service was a great experience. My worries that i was stuck with a $1200 garage ornament was relived when Scott the store manager had me do what he asked and used Weber pellets. This did not help. Same problems. So i got a full store credit and worked with Jerrod to buy a traeger that has been nothing but a joy to use. I really appreciate the customer service. My loyalty to this store has been high and now is a no brainier. Thank you. read more

came into the Mount Vernon store to purchase Dishwasher, and Refrigerator cost over $5,000.00 dollars by Sales Associate Brett Grinstead. When the install for the dishwasher was done it was the wrong size. Contact Brett Grinstead sales Associate on the phone he told me he would look into some options and call me back. Three weeks later I ended up call him only to find out he forgot about the sale of the dishwasher. He ask to give him more time to look into the matter, and would get back with me later in the day. Really. You got to kidding. So drove down to the store to talk to him and the manager directly. We final found a dishwasher that would work, and schedule another appointment to have it installed. The installer came and installed the 2nd dishwasher, and when we tried to use it it would not start. Called the store again to talk to Brett again, and was told he was on vacation for week, and he could give me call when he gets back. You got to be kidding me Really!. I explained they just did the install on the 2nd dishwasher, and I need a installer from their store to come back out and fix the dishwasher. I was told a installer would be calling me later in the week to schedule a time in the next, or two to come out and fix the issue. I said this was just installed last night by you guys, and you are telling I have to wait another 3 weeks to get the new dishwasher install redone. Yes she said. So I drove back down to the store a 4 time to talk directly to the store manager I was told he went home for the day, and would get back with me tommorw. Finally on the 5th try a installer came out the next and fixed the issue. I will never go back to this store again to buy anything. World of advise. With 19 years in the customer service business you need follow through with your commitment when you sell you product to a customer. Meaning ensuing that when tell a customer you call them back that 3 weeks do not go by the customer has to call you back only to find out you forgot about the order. Take notes at your desk. Add a note to email calendar on your computer that pop's up to remind you that you need to call this customer. Finally if the install on a appliance goes wrong do not make excuses that it will take 3 to 4 weeks to get out to the customer home to fix the error in the installed. You need to work on 1st pass on quality of your work with the customers or they will just go somewhere else to buy stuff, which is what we will doing for the next time this comes up. I this due to store and the store manage did not follow-up on the original sale of the dishwasher the customer had to call back 4 times to get the correct dishwasher installed this was very bad customer service. I am shock for the about product I just purchased from this store costing over $5,0000.00 we as customer were treated in this manner I will never go back to this store. I went to pick up a part for my neighbor and i had an unpleasant experience. Ariel couldnt find my friend, under his name, in the computer system, so she tried his phone number. When the blonde service gal spoke up and politely suggested searching under the address instead, ariel snapped at her and told her she could find it under the number and if the blonde one couldnt then she wasnt doing her job wrong. Well, ariel couldnt find it under the number and had to use the address. And what do you know.? It worked! 1st off, if you think your coworker is wrong, politely take her suggestion with a smile then calmly go to her when a customer is not there. And when the blonde one walked away, ariel was rolling her eyes. Not rude to me, but learn to be respectful to your coworkers, especially in front of customers. Bought all kitchen appliances for remodel from J&B, mostly KitchenAid. Fridge door gasket failed before end of first year. J&B repairman said they have been failing frequently on KitchenAid fridges. Failed again about a year later -- so two failures in about two years. J&B now wants $200+ to repair a known repeated product failure and will not hold themselves or KitchenAid accountable for selling a lemon product. Won't be shopping there again and will repair myself with part from internet. read more

Bought a JennAir induction stove from Judd and Black (over $3000.00) and received horrible customer service from the very start. We live in the San Juan Islands so first had to wait for delivery. Then they didn't install it properly and didn't have all the parts (side mouldings). Made repeat visit appointment and they never showed up. Tried to charge for something the sales person said we wouldn't be charged for (they eventually dropped that charge ). Now today after one year and three months the induction cooktop no longer works (I will never agaIn buy a JenAir but that's another story ) and am told it'll be over a month before they can come to diagnose the problem and (?) fix the stove. "We only come to the islands a couple times a month". Really? Doesn't that mean you'll be here two more times before we can be helped? In the meantime I have a completely nonfunctioning stove. As for warrannty: "You didn't buy the extended warranty so the there's no coverage." $3000.00 for somehing that worked just over one year and we only live here part time!!!! Talk about insult to injury. Have to get the stove operational but I will never use nor recommend this store again. Want to shop local but I'll go to Albert Lee in Seattle which we've used many times before and never had problems like this. Very disappointing. read more
