This location is OUTSTANDING!!! Went here 3 times during my week stay in AZ and all three times was GREAT!!! The staff was very friendly. the food was OMG!!! (eyes rolling back in head) and even though I was close to closing time two of those times and sat in dining room, they treated me like it was the middle of the day. Love the ribs!!! Ribs, ribs and more ribs!!! Probably the best ribs ever eaten. Problem is this location tends to run out of ribs. Sometimes by 3 PM. If this happens, you are SOL. They will not remake another batch. Such was the case when I ordered delivery the other week. At the time I ordered, the Dickey's employee did not inform me of this. In fact, I didn't receive a call back until 15 minutes after my order was taken, even though I ordered 2 plates of ribs. Cancelled order and asked for refund. Was told by employee he couldn't do that (refund) for a day or two. Had to call manager to get refund moving. Jason the manager is very professional and friendly. On a side note, my bank account was also charged a 2nd order with a completely different amount. This is order did not appear on my Dickey's app. However, Dickey's website said I picked up order but never said what was ordered. I never made order not did I pick it up. Super convenient location for bbq by our house without driving to Sierra Vista/Tucson. My wife and I had the ribs and brisket, respectively. Empty condiments, asked for pickles, which they provided me in a small cup, then instead of filling the empty bins, leaves the container beside register and just lounges in kitchen talking to other employee. This restaurant was recommended to me and I thought that I would give it a try. I saw that the BBQ chicken claimed no antibiotics, so I chose that, the creamed spinach, and loaded mashed potatoes. I'm giving the two stars for the side items although they were okay, but not great. As for the BBQ chicken, this isn't BBQ, it's just meat with some yucky spices sprinkled atop the chicken. I don't understand how this is a chain restaurant as I've been there twice: my first and last in one trip. And for $15, I could have eaten at Mi Casa instead! read more

I've gone to Dickey's for the past 20 years and they've steadily gone down hill and I'll never go again. If you want high prices and small portions this is the place for you. I recently ordered online and when I went to pick it up, it wasn't ready so I expected to see them make my two pulled pork sandwiches right then. Nope, they pulled them from a pre-made batch sitting in a warmer and they looked and tasted like they had been there for hours. Dried out buns with a small portion of pulled pork that didn't even fill the bun. The small sides cost $3.50 and it is worth half of that. Even a Coke costs $3.25! If you want to walk away still hungry with an empty wallet, give Dickey's a try. If not, look for a local family run joint that gives a good sized portion for a decent price because the corporate way of running Dickey's has ruined it. read more

I lived most of my life in Dallas and frequently ate at various Dickey's there, so I know what it should be like: decent barbecue and fairly quick service. But there seem to be some serious problems at the Benson location. It's hard to believe so many things could go wrong in a single order. I placed an online order for curbside pickup. We called the restaurant to let them know we'd arrive shortly after the start of the half-hour pickup time window, and they told us the order would be ready in 10-15 minutes. We checked in on the mobile app when we arrived. After waiting 25 minutes in the parking lot (30 minutes after I called) with no acknowledgement we were there, my wife went inside to pick up the orders--which we had been trying to avoid because we'd heard that this location was not observing any COVID precautions. Sure enough, my wife was the only person in the store, including employees and the other customers waiting in line, wearing a mask. No gloves on the employees' hands, and no social distancing in line. Our order was sitting on the counter. An employee said it had been there for a while, and he hadn't realized the order was for curbside pickup. We took the bags and drove the four miles home. We then discovered that none of the hot sides we'd ordered (five items) were included. Neither were the pickles or onions that we'd ordered, both of which cost extra. I headed back to the restaurant, and while I was on the way I called the restaurant back and spoke with a manager. I explained the situation and what was missing, and told her that in view of the delivery delay and all the missing items, I felt a refund was appropriate. I arrived about 5 minutes later, thinking the missing items would be ready for me to pick up, but they weren't. I identified myself and the same male employee asked me to wait while he served another customer. I then found the manager, who proceeded to start getting our items. As she was doing so, she realized that two of the items we were supposed to receive had been out of stock all day, even though it was shown as available in the app. We substituted another side instead, which then had to be cooked. Once I had the food, I asked the manager about the refund. She said that she'd asked the owner and he said our credit card would be refunded in 24-48 hours, and if not, to call the store. (I had seen her explaining the errors to the man she identified as the owner, and thought it odd that he didn't come over to apologize personally.) I will say that once reheated, the food was good, and the female manager was pleasant and apologetic for the problems. However, we did not receive the promised refund. After four days, I called back and spoke with a different female manager. She took my name, phone number and receipt number, and said that she would talk with the owner and call me back. However, more than 24 hours later, I still have not received that call, nor have I received the refund. I really hate writing bad reviews; I understand that errors sometimes happen and I'd always rather give the restaurant the chance to make things right. But the number of different problems in this case and the owner's apparent indifference suggest to me that there may be more significant issues in this restaurant that need to be addressed. EDIT: The day after I shared my feedback through the Dickey's corporate website, I received a call from the Benson location manager, who apologized for the errors, processed the promised refund, and offered us a free meal to encourage us to try the restaurant again. He also said he would work with his staff to re-train them to avoid similar issues in the future. read more

When I asked the person at the counter he said I should have ordered online to get the deal, he didn't even offer any kind of discount or anything. The thing I liked best was the friendliness of the staff. Having never been here before, didn't have a clue. The cook/meat guy explained everything, gave samples, didn't try to rush us, as most other places do. I've heard some complain that Dickeys is expensive, but no, not really. They give you a decent amount of food for your money & so much better than fast burgers. I rarely write reviews but this place takes your money, lies to your face and gives you nothing close to your order. Do NOT order take out. These people are incapable of providing the food you order and pay for. They make up new policies to justify the fact the are unable or unwilling to fulfill your order. They actually threw four bags of Fritos in our bag and two cookies in place of a half pound of sausage, one pound of chicken, one pound of ribs, full sized sides of Mac and cheese, potato casserole, spinach, and slaw. Sadly my 75 year old Mother picked up the order I made online for her and her grandchildren and they just spewed BS at her about made up policies to justify why her order couldn't be fulfilled. On top of that they made her wait 45 minutes for food I ordered two hours ahead of time. And still didn't give her the food but that didn't stop them charging my Amex. A 75 year old woman and a six year old and an 8 year old waited for food they never got and were lied to the entire time. I called the store when I found out what happened and the manager promises me a full refund, but seriously do you believe a woman who would lie to an old lady and little kids? I don't. I'm visiting that place everyday until I get my $78 back and an apology to my mom and kids. What a bunch of jerks. This franchise embarrasses the Dickey BBQ brand. Sad.
