Such a lost opportunity. Dickies has to be one of my favorite BBQ spots of all time - yet I can't stand this one. How can the franchise be so great and the franchisee be soooo abysmal? Really hard to say but the bottom line is I hate the fact I can't go here anymore. The service is downright atrocious - waiting to order food for 15 minutes with only two people ahead of me? Really? Terrible food after the unnecessary wait? You run out of food frequently? What? Scrap the owner and keep the franchise. I am rooting for this place to turn around! read more

We stopped in for a bite of dinner at someplace we had never eaten before while on vacation in Colorado and left a Dickey's Fan! The food was Awesome and the service Excellent! The free Ice Cream was a pleasant surprise as well! We can't wait to find a Dickey's in the area where we live! read more

My family is originally from the Dallas area and we frequented the original Dickey's to dine-in as well as using their catering service for company Christmas parties. We recently moved to Castle Rock from Washington state and happened upon this location for lunch. The food was quite good, the servings were generous and the customer service was very hospitable. They know how to make hot & spicey with some kick to it. We'll be back; it's a nice break from the old fast food routine. read more

The BBQ was fine. The store could use a cleaning. The bbq sauce heater was on high and it was burnt. The free ice cream machine was not working and messy and needed to be cleaned. I had to repeat my order several times as the staff was not able to focus or pay attention. read more

Called in my order for some ribs and pulled pork. When I picked it up I was immediately greeted by the manager and she asked how she could help me. I told her and they immediately went into action filling the order and I was very impressed with their great attitude and wanting to make sure everything was just right. I had purchase a smoked turkey for thanksgiving and we were blown away with how good it was so we want to try it again. The ribs were fall of the bone, the beans, the coleslaw were great, and my wife's dinner was excellent also. The service was great and I would recommend this to anyone. read more

In a word "Mediocre"... We had ribs, brisket, pulled pork, beans, green beans w/ bacon, coleslaw and waffle fries. The ribs were OK, the pulled pork was the best part of the meal. I requested lean cuts of brisket and received a lot of fat. The beans were OK. The green beans contained no bacon. The coleslaw was OK. We were told the waffle fries take a bit longer to cook and would be delivered to our table. They never were. The music was too loud so the order takers could not hear the ordering. The self serve BBQ sauce area was messy and jammed in a corner next to a pile of boxes in the dining area. The napkin dispensers were empty. We used to dine at Bono's quite a bit when we lived farther North. Dickey's prices are on par with Bono's. The food? Nowhere close. read more

Absolutely horrible. We came on a Sunday evening. We waited in line for over 20 minutes. There were only 5 people in front of us. Cashier didn't know how to make change or count. The meal was mediocre at best. First and last time I will go there. Two people walked out because of the speed of service. Doubt they will make it in castle Rock if they don't improve dramatically. If you live in Castle Rock and you are absolutely craving the worst BBQ you could ever eat, make sure you go to Dickey's. I only had the ribs, but they tasted like they had been dumped in a salt brine for a month; tasted like bad pastrami. Also, they were cold. This place is a poor excuse for BBQ. The times I've tried to give them a 2nd or 3rd chance the food is poorly prepared. Dry over cooked sides, mostly fat in the 'brisket', slow service, and lack of pride in the way the overall establishment is ran. Food tastes fine but the service? Not good. I ordered the family meal online to save time. Went to pick it up and the 2 teenage boys had no clue what was to be included with the meal. They twice told me my to-go bag was ready and I twice told them that they had left stuff out. I think was mainly our fault because we showed up 20 mins before close. They were real nice because we tried to leave and they welcomed us in and said they were still open. I bought a pound of pork barbecue. Only about a 1/4 of it was edible. Had to throw most of it out. Not a good way to start a super bowl!

The new menu prices are too expensive for fast food BBQ. Food used to be good for the price, but now it's just mediocre for what you pay. Also the guy behind the counter was eating while he was preparing the food. Gross! We waited more than 10 minutes for half of our order to be completed, just to have them come and tell us they were out of a key ingredient for one of the items we'd been waiting for. We've always come back because of the customer service, which was nowhere to be seen today either. With the new menu and prices and lack of customer service, we will not be coming back. read more

The bbq here is pretty good for how quickly they give you your food and the sides are always awesome. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because they changed their menu and also got rid of the little bread rolls. The menu before was super easy to use and you could just make a meat plate with everything you wanted, but now you can only pick the prepared items on the menu. This review is not just a negative review on this location, but also with the current franchise model of Dickey's. If you have never been to an older store which was how it was originally intended, visit the one on Arapahoe Rd. THAT is how the original founder, Travis Dickey, intended his restaurants to be. Since Roland, Jr. took over, it has gone to the dogs. The old stores serve everything buffet style. The guy at the front cuts your meat and then you get your own home-made sides like squash casserole, potatoes au gratin, coleslaw peach cobbler, Texas toast, and they give you nice portions of whatever BBQ you like: beef, chicken, pork. You get to dish the sides yourself. There is a condiment bar with pickles, jalapenos & onions. It's fast and it's good. The new model (formulated by Roand Jr.) (which is this location) is a far cry from the original and more like the BBQ version of KFC with frozen mac & cheese, frozen waffle fries....must I go on? The guy serving the meat is WEIGHING every single ounce of meat. I have never seen this in a BBQ place. Because they were weighing everything to the tenth of an ounce, it was taking FOREVER! The line was out the door. They no longer have the sides where you can see them (because they are all frozen and/or pre-cooked and gross). They don't even have a condiment bar and they gave me ONE SLICE OF A PICKLE (you know, the ones that are the size of a quarter) and they have NO JALAPENOS at all! That's a BBQ crime if you claim to be "Texas style." And now they are serving yeast rolls. Really??!! With BBQ?! UMMMM NO! Everyone ones that in Texas, you serve white bread or Texas toast. Once again, NOT the franchisee's fault, but Roland Jr. They cannot deviate like the original stores b/c they have different agreements. Oh, one interesting fact: Dickey's franchises have a 36% failure rate on SBA loans which is extremely high but not surprising given the current franchise model. IMHO, any time a great restaurant decides to franchise, it goes downhill. And so it goes with Dickey's. If you are craving good BBQ, head to Rudy's in the Springs. For the record, we moved here 3 years ago from Houston where we were born and raised. read more
