I ordered the brisket meat plate and the meat was very good. The side portions and roll were below average quality compared to other BBQ places. The employees were very friendly and welcoming. The biggest con to Dickie's is that, unlike most BBQ places, the portions are small in comparison to the cost. This gave me the impression that they nickel and dime their customers. read more

My husband ordered the 5 rib dinner ($14.95) and I ordered the 2 meat dinner with pulled pork and ribs ($12.95). My husband's ribs were too dry and he said it was like jerky. My ribs were not dry, so I got lucky. The pulled pork was excellent. For the sides, we both got the fully loaded mashed potatoes, which was just ok. I did not see any green onions. He got coleslaw, which he said was ok, and I got the Caesar salad, which was good and fresh. My dinner was a 4 star, his was a 2 star so rated it a 3 star to average it out. I was enjoying my lunch and happened to notice one of the servers go into the bathroom with her apron on, ICK! She came out a few minutes later and immediately went back to work. GROSS, put me off the rest of my lunch. Don't they know they should remove their apron before going to the bathroom! I won't be back anytime soon. Until then, the food was good. When I go anywhere the first thing that sets the tone is the greeting. They must not believe in greetings so automatically they lose respect. As for the food i do have to say they have good meat no matter what you choose. The sides are where they fail because they are all slightly bearable. Basically to me dickeys is the Chipotle of bbq. It's not bad but it's not great. The sauce isn't too bad either so I was pleased with that. The free ice cream is really what makes me come back to this place once every three months or so. I can't believe a chain like this actually makes good food. But somehow they pulled it off. The ribs are actually smoked (along with most of their other meats) and have a nice rub on the outside which rival even my smoked ribs. The sausage is phenomenal and every side I tried was excellent. It is rare in this day to find business's which make you truly feel valued as a customer. We had a poor experience with the food on our last visit, and the owner sent me a personal message asking us to try the food again on him. I thought that was extremely kind, generous and showed a lot of integrity. This speaks volumes to me as a customer and really showed that my family's satisfaction was important to the owner. On our 2nd visit, the staff was very friendly again, made it a point to let us know they were sorry we didn't enjoy our food last time, and made every effort to make sure everything was just right. This time I got the chicken, and my husband picked the pulled pork. Both of us were very happy. My kids love that they get free ice cream, pickels and a giant yellow cup for their drinks. We love that the food is tasty and the prices reasonable. Watch the guys on the line...they are really pros at what they do. If you are not sure what you want, ask what the line guys like. They will steer you the right direction. I was craving ribs and didn't have the time to smoke my own. I ordered the family pack, Instead of two meats, I got all ribs. I ended up with one full rack of ribs and yes they weighed them. The meal came with three large sides. The containers were only 3/4 full when I got home and opened them. The rolls that come with the meal were to die for. The ribs have a good smoked flavor and add just a little of the hot bar b q sauce for that extra sizzle was great. A little pricey for what I received. My latest visit was during Super Bowl Sunday and I ordered a 2 meat plate with pulled pork and sliced brisket and while the meat was tasty and flavorful there was no warmth to it. We got the XL Family deal which right now includes 6 sides instead of 3 and 3 meat choices. Everything we ordered was amazing but the chicken melts in your mouth. So so so good. Go to their website and register first so you get a free drink. We will go back. Just found our favorite next bbq place. The staff is always friendly, especially Karen, who happens to be cute as a button. Plus they give discounts if you work at Apple computers. The meat is very tasty, especially the brisket. However, you need to be aware that this business has been using illegal business practices--violating California Consumer Protection law, Civil Code 1747.08, amended 1988, which prohibits any person or establishment from recording personal information from the buyers drivers license when the buyer has paid with a credit card and has provided appropriate identification. A drivers license number IS personal information. The penalty for the first violation is $250 and $1000 for each subsequent violation. The manager has indicated that he will correct this practice but you need to use care if you purchase at Dickeys using a credit card -- at least make sure that no one copies your drivers license number. read more

I give two stars because I was so disappointed by the food, although it was edible it was not good for the price. I was so excited to order Dickey's because people speak so highly of it. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with the food. I got the XL Picnic and I was very disappointed. It will not feed 4-6 hungry people. I ordered 5 cookies and received 4. I got the Smoked Chicken, Sliced Beef Brisket, and Pulled Pork. All the meat was dry and not well seasoned, I am used to getting the meat in BBQ sauce but that was not the case. That's ok if the BBQ sauce was not so overly spiced. I also got the Caesar Salad, Green Beans, Baked Beans and Baked Potato Casserole. The Caesar Salad was just lettuce and a smidgen of Parmesan and they sent no dressing. The Green Beans were cooked until they were very soft but they had flavor. The Baked Beans were mediocre but nothing to boast about. Finally the Baked Potato Casserole was also mediocre and were really just mashed potatoes. So all in all I was very disappointed I. The quantity of the food, in the quality of the food; flavorless dry meat, over spiced BBQ sauce, over cooked Green Beans, mediocre and flavorless Baked Beans and Baked Potato Casserole. They forgot dressing for the salad and I paid for 5 cookies and received 4. All an all for over $100 not worth it, I won't order again and CANNOT RECOMMEND!!! I have had better for less money. We have gotten take out from the Elk Grove location many times and have always been very satisfied. However, my parents came into town tonight and we wanted to treat them to some good BBQ. My father is extremely allergic to pork so when I called I specifically asked if the baked potato casserole and the bbq beans had pork in them. The girl who took my order assured me that they were pork free so we ordered both sides. When we got the food the baked potato casserole obviously has pork in it. I called to complain and the manager told me that the girl who took my order is new and that she would make sure to educate her. The manager acted like it was really no big deal. Now, a few hours later, my dad is extremely sick in the bathroom and if he gets worse we will have to take him to the ER. So apparently the BBQ beans also have pork in them. When I called again the manager showed no concern and when I asked to speak to the owner, I was told that he is conveniently out of town for a few days and would call me when he returns. So basically, if you have any allergies or food restrictions, this is not the place for you!! They couldn't care less about the customer. read more

I always wanted to try Dickey's for a long time and I finally got a chance to do so. I ordered the 2 meat plate which comes with a choice of 2 meats, 2 sides, a roll, and some pickles and onions. I got beef brisket and pulled pork with sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw. They have other meats which include chicken, turkey, sausage, and ham. Both the brisket and pulled pork was excellent because they weren't dry at all and very flavorful. There's BBQ sauces near the utensils and soda machine if you need some extra flavoring. The spicy sauce has a nice kick to it and the original has great flavor. The sides were also delicious and the service here was great too. We were greeted right away when we first walked in. The whole staff from the preparing the meats, sides, and cashier were all friendly. While eating there was a server who introduced herself and said if we need anything she will help us get it. To make the meal complete they have ice cream near the entrance that is complimentary! Since the holidays are coming they also have complete meals.
