Good Georgia BBQ. The Brunswick stew is only so-so to me. It needs to be cooked down another few hours. The pork is good, but the ribs are excellent. Online Ordering totally rocks! Dickey's BBQ Pit catered an event at my job a while back, being that I was at work I only tasted a little of what was being offered at the time. I just remembered the smoked turkey being extremely good, and the berry cobbler was superb, so I was excited when I saw the Groupon for $12, to receive $24 towards online orders @ Dickey's. After a long day at work I decided to cash in on my Groupon, and went ahead and place an online order right before I left work. My order was place a little after 5 p.m. I recieved an estimated time of 5:24 p.m. for pick up( not bad). Upon arrival, there were 4 people working, I was acknowledge right away, greeted and asked if I placed an online order ( pyshic ) ....I actully expect to be expected and then I'm shock all at the same time... lol. My food was already prepared, and waiting on me when I arrived. Everyone was nice. I ordered the picnic family pack which feeds between 2&4 people, you get your choice of meat (1 pound) , 2 side items, and rolls for $24.99. I ordered the pork ribs ( yes I am a porker_lol, take that up with my momma, she put pig in everything) , bbq baked beans, and loaded mashed potatoes, it actually was enough to feed 4 people. The ribs were very tender and easy to eat, a nice portion with about 8 ribs in the box, really good. The BBQ sauce stole the show!!! The bbq baked beans were just baked beans before I poured bbq sauce on them ....yum..lol. The loaded mashed potatoes were delicious, they were loaded with bacon, cheese and chopped green onions. I didn't care for the bread, it was a bit doughy for my taste, probably because I prefer my bread deep fried and covered in sugar ;-). I later found out exactly why the bread was there after seeing my son scoop the sauce up with the bread after he was done with the ribs. I think we used the sauce on everything. After 19 years of not eating meat, I jumped into some pork two weeks ago and surprisingly decided to keep pork in my diet. So while traveling to Atlanta last night, I researched a good place to stop on the way and found Dickeys. I remember my brother telling me for the past few years how much he enjoys the Dickeys by his Florida home. The fried okra was the best I've ever had. The Mac and cheese was good. I got the pulled pork and ribs. I really don't think I've ever had ribs before and was worried that I wouldn't know how to properly eat them. As advertised though, the meat fell right off the bone. Pretty good. The pulled pork was good as well. I definitely wish we had a store somewhere in Chattanooga. I'd like to be a regular. read more

I ordered from this place it was delivered. I ordered the bacon and onion green bean there was no onions or bacon. I ordered 2- Giant bakers with meat. The one with chicken was not fully cooked it looked white no cheese no butte, the other was supposed to have chopped brisket and the meat taste like corned beef hash and the potato was not white had a grey tint to it. I ordered 6 ribs they had no seasoning on them very bland and nothing but a lot of fat little meat. Will never order from here again. Stay away from this place read more

By far the worst food I've ever had. I tried to call to place my order ahead of time and no one answered. I called twice and thought maybe there was a 4:30 rush. I should have taken that as a hint. I walk in to what looks like a bunch a teenagers running the place. While the young man who rung me up was nice, I don't... no wait, I know I will never be back. The restaurant was disgusting and I was literally sliding from whatever greasy substance was on the floor. The food tasted like pure grease. No flavor at all. We have had good experiences with other Dickeys locations so we stopped in for lunch here. It was right before noon. There were no other customers in line or eating. Another couple was planning a gathering and wanted to place an order. Three employees were there. No one greeted us or acknowledged us. The manager came from the kitchen to help the couple placing the order. The man behind the counter (I believe he may be the owner) never looked up. Finally we ordered from him. There was no interaction or instructions as to sitting down to wait for our order to be ready. We seated ourselves. We ordered a drink and I had to ask the manager for a cup. The meat was dry and had been held in the warmer for too long. We had the kielbasa, ribs, pulled pork and burnt ends. All were mediocre at best. After passing by it several times I finally decided to eat here yesterday. There was no bbq or smoke flavor to the wings. No bbq or smoke scent in the restaurant period but it was a clean establishment. The wings was on a tray that looked like it came out the oven and then toss in a deep fyer, served with regular pickles not sweet pickles which traditionally goes with smoked or bbq wings. No celery, no carrots and I had to ask for the bread which wasn't Texas toast but some kind of stone. Meal costed $10.80 wasted my money. ‍ Honestly I could have did the myself at home. We stopped for our first visit during a soccer tournament Labor Day weekend. Staying with family, we've visited many restaurants here over the years; but, NEVER have we anywhere experienced such a level of kindness, helpfulness and excellent customer service as we have here. The food IS De-LISH!!! We dined in with our daughter and brought food back to our remaining family that didn't want to leave the pool. There was a discrepancy in our order upon getting back to my parents house. However, immediately upon calling, they did more to make it right than we expected, or could have hoped for. If you like great barbecue and are in store for amazing customer service, this IS the ONLY place you should be going as often as you can! Only detriment is limited seating and it's huge popularity. But, come with a healthy appetite and a smile, and you'll be glad you patronized this establishment. We look forward to our next visit! Food was good and the guys greeting me were really Kool and inviting. The ribs were tender and flavorful. I was glad I decided to pull over to fix my phone and saw this place in the mean time. Ohhhhhh I forgot, didn't even need sauce for the ribs. I ate them straight up. I had it to go but I couldn't pull off without "a taste" they smelled so good. Needless to say the mac n cheese and potato salad were all worth getting. I don't usually care for potato salad from restaurants because mine is so good but this was tasty. I was at Dickey's BBQ on Barrett Pkwy tonight at 5:40pm and witnessed multiple, horrible acts by the staff. The worst was the lady working there launched into a high pitched screaming tyrant, top of her lungs, cursing every word imaginable, using the 'F' bomb at least 30+ times, and she walked around the counter and was slamming her fist into her other palm in a violent manner as she approached and verbally berated a lady waiting for her food. There were 3 young children (ages 8-12 approximately) next to the woman who were caught listening the vulgarity coming from this employee towards her. Loud as she could scream the 'F' word and every other curse word for at least 60 seconds. The 3 children covered their ears and left the store, one looked about to cry. I said multiple times to stop because there were children present and the lady wouldn't listen and just kept going. I was worried she was going to physically attack that poor woman standing there, who I hope called the police and filed charges. It was an outrage. Furthermore, 3-4 male employees stood there behind the counter as this woman began screaming, came around the counter with her fist slamming into her open palm, and not one of them said or did anything. They stood there and let the customer be assaulted! And I didn't hear one of them apologize to the lady either. Horrific and unsafe. Finally, to add context: a man was in there and left right before this happened. He placed an order this morning at 9:30am for 5:30pm pickup. It was not ready and the staff just told him they were too busy to do his order. Plus they told him at one point he never placed an order, then he was able to show proof, which didn't phase the staff at all, they didn't care. Remember, 5 employees and 5 customers in the store. Doesn't seem too busy at all, plus they had all day. Another woman in the store had been waiting 1 hour and they told her they never got her order. And the lady at the end of the counter was attacked and I never heard her raise her voice or be nasty. Truly a staff that didn't care about customer experience or providing a safe environment. Absolutely shocking that the employee attacked a customer like that, and more shocking that not one of the male staff intervened in any way. They just watched. I left the store and went to Big Shanty and will not return! In today's turbulent times, I don't need to put myself or my family and friends in harms way. Not safe!!! read more

So . . . my booski and a few others I know had stopped in and didn't have anything overwhelming positive OR negative to say. Kept meaning to stop here - but since it's routinely a hard left (versus an easy right) when I'm fighting my way back from Town Center - I usually don't have the time, inclination or wherewithal to stop in. Tonight I did. My first impressions - its super tiny. Merrell and Mya were working (no name tags - but I asked their names.) Both greeted me when I walked in but Mya was very subdued - not rude - but definitely not an outgoing, extroverted type so I directed most of my questions to Merrell. Not deducting a star for this - just a note that ties into my overall review / wrap-up below. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, with waffle iron fries and Caesar salad. I sampled the mac n cheese before making my decision - and found it creamy but a little flavorless. And this is coming from someone who doesn't cook with salt. Plus I prefer the stiff, baked mac n cheese - the type made with eggs and milk. This is a chain restaurant - so it's pretty much what I expected - but every once in a while - these chains surprise you! The pulled pork proved to be lean and smoky - but a little mushy. The waffle fries were tasty (think Chick-fil-A) and the Caesar salad - was just what you'd expect from a salad purchased at a bbq place. **Side-eye** I found out - by asking a Merrell about a million questions - that they offer free ice cream and kids eat free on Sundays. With so many other options / competition in the area - I fear for this location - the food isn't notable enough to have staff that don't do things to push them over the edge. I'll definitely stop by again to try more menu items - and despite my 2 star rating (2 stars on Yelp mean's 'Meh. I've experienced better.' - and I HAVE experienced better - both with regards to food and customer service). I will definitely try to stop back in / give them another chance with the hopes that they were just having an off night. I'll update my review accordingly. read more

Unpleasantly surprised by this location. Have visited a Dickey's before & was looking forward to this visit. The restaurant was very dark, some lights were out. The tables were dirty. The employee didn't have hair nets on. The Mac & cheese looked like it had been there a long time. But we ordered it anyway. We also ordered the collards. Both were barely lukewarm. My pulled pork was bland, greasy and would have qualified for smoke-free rates at the local hotel. It tasted more boiled than smoked. My wife tried the chicken. And, finally, don't advertise "free ice cream" when what you offer is some form of chemically created, artificially flavored "vanilla" soft serve product. Dickey's is the best franchise BBQ I have had in Georgia. The staff is extremely friendly, and the BBQ is very good. You walk down a line while the first person cuts your main dish and sends you down the line to choose your sides and pay. Near the Fountain Drink Machine you will find an ice cream machine, jar of pickles, and 2 really good BBQ sauces... the hot BBQ definitely has a kick. So far, I have tried the brisket and turkey. the Brisket is smoky and not too fatty. The Turkey is also very good. Both come in generous portions. Sides: I always get the Jalapeño beans and fried okra. The beans have heat and the okra is fried one order at a time. Enjoy the free ice cream read more

Let me start off by admitting that I'm a bit of a BBQ snob. I like to cook BBQ at home and am picky about BBQ restaurants. It was with a good dose of skepticism that I tried Dickey's. My skepticism quickly disappeared after watching the pit masters carve slices of brisket in front of me. They even catered to my request for burnt ends. The chopped pork is good too. The owner and the rest of the staff are friendly and very accommodating. They have free soft serve ice cream as well. That makes my toddler son happy to come here. Give them a shot. I have recently visited Dickey's and am pleased with near every aspect there. To name one, the friendliness of a lot of the staff was noticeable despite a busy Friday evening rush where the line was nearly out the door (I even caught them smiling while serving down the line and thought that was outstanding). Though the establishment is in size more fit for luncheon, it was finely furnished and clean nonetheless with a fabulous smell of BBQ in the air. The bathroom was rather clean and the menu was unique. I understand this is about as close to ''Real Texan'' food as it gets here in the lovely ATL, and I'm happy to say that I felt I was in for a real treat! The beans tasted great and my friend tells me that the loaded baked potato was as delicious as it was huge (meaning she thought it was very tasty!). My ribs were tasty, only slightly on the fatty side but nicely seasoned Other notes would be that it's cool that they have ice cream as a treat which is a great little add-on for a family oriented eatery (and in the perfect location for such a business as well)bringing more memory to the food for families to return to. Not to mention, I overheard several youngsters in the building talking about how awesome the food was while waiting near the door for a booth to open up. The staff is very genuine in service which is rare to find. The closest thing that I could find to a concern here is that when presenting a voucher and whom seemed to be the manager saw it, he commented on how long I must have had it. When I came to find that my total was a bit over $20 I was ready to pull out my card to apply and tip with when the cashier informed me that they would take care of it and not to worry about it, the manager then chimed in with ''And I'll be covering that with our money.'' In a neutral enough fashion, so I didn't take it to offense but I was still wondering why he was mentioning this to me. Texas barbecue isn't my favorite, but if it's done well, it can be pretty good for a change. I've had the brisket, pulled pork, and smoked sausage from here. The pork is passable, but I'll go other places for a pork sandwich. However, the brisket is well-cooked without being too fatty, and the smoked sausages are good for a change as well. Sides like macaroni and the barbecue beans are good, and the jalapeno beans have a decent kick to them. Yes it's a chain, but for chain barbecue, it's surprisingly good. I generally like vinegar-based pork BBQ, so the regular sauce here isn't my favorite. However, I like the hot and spicy sauce more than most tomato-based BBQ sauces. It has a decent kick without being overwhelmingly spicy like some places. I also like how the main two sauces are kept in a heater instead of a squeeze bottle on the table. The sweet sauce is okay, but I'll admit that I generally avoid sweeter barbecue sauces. The service is friendly, and as others said, it can be a little on the slow side while your meal is assembled. However, the sandwich portions are sizeable, and daily specials come with two sides and a drink. Not to mention the free soft serve. I'll always be partial to pulled pork as my barbecue meat and vinegar as my preferred sauce base. However, when I'm in the mood for something a little different, I'll stop by here. read more

This review is purely food based as I haven't gone into the actual establishment and after trying the food, I won't ever be going in there. My mother stopped and got some food from this place on her way home from work because she wasn't in the mood to cook anything. I was in the mood for some good BBQ and in search of a new go to joint since the previous one I had been going to went downhill, so I was excited to try something new; unfortunately, this isn't it and in my opinion was worse. She got me a pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, and mac n' cheese; everything looked good, but that was as good as this food got. The mac n' cheese was creamy but flavorless; it literally had no cheese flavor nor even a hint of salt or any seasoning. The mashed potatoes tasted too garlicky and were without a doubt instant potatoes; I know this because I've eaten plenty of instant potato in my life and know the texture and flavor well. But the biggest issue was the sandwich itself. The pork looked to be good quality stuff but as was with the mac n' cheese, it was mostly flavorless; a little bit of smoke flavor but that was it. I tasted the sauce before I put it on the sandwich and it tasted ok, so I put it on there and doing that finally gave the sandwich some flavor. But it didn't help as much as it needed to and after taking a few more bites of it and of the other items, I threw all of it in the trash; 11 dollars down the drain for substandard BBQ, and I'm being nice calling it substandard. All in all, I wasn't impressed with the food and wouldn't recommend it to anyone; I can make better tasting stuff at home and I'm not that great of a cook at all. read more

It's the kind of suburbania (yes, I wrote suburbania on purpose) that tries to blend the down-home style BBQ with a chain a la Shane's Rib Shack. In my experience, you need to pick one or the other: the truly old school place with the smoker outside enticing everyone with the smells of sweat, pork, stew, cornbread and hot coals from an open fire from the smoker or GTFO. But this place is not quite like Shane's and not quite old school so I'm conflicted so I'll just say I prefer to not go here for bbq. read more

Here's the deal, this place kicks ass. I don't really gush over most chain restaurants, but this place throws down with the best of them. I've tried a couple of the other locations, and while they're good, they just don't touch the quality of the Ridenour location in Kennesaw. You see the same 3-4 people working every single time you walk in. If you come here a lot, these 3-4 people become like a 2nd family haha. When I walk in, they know what I want, and always make sure its exactly how I want it (I have a few picky preferences). I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich with extra pickles, mac n' cheese, and waffle fries. Get both regular bbq sauce and spicy. Trust me on this...You'll thank me later. Pour a little regular bbq and a little spicy on your pulled pork sandwich, then pour it on per bite. Don't be a pansy with it either, there is a giant freakin container of the stuff by the ice cream cones. Speaking of ice cream cones, we're talking free ice cream on tap. You can go traditional vanilla in cone, or you can be a rebel, go against the norm and make yourself a bomb.com root beer float. The people that work behind the counter are amazing. They are always crazy friendly. Perhaps its that New Orleans charm that a few of them bring to the table. If the owner happens to read this, give these guys a raise. They play a huge role in why I come in so often. Plus, when you fall in love with it like I have, they have punch cards that give you free drinks and food. It's basically the bees knees. A solid middle of the road spot with decent prices and a pretty good sliced pork sandwich. I was underimpressed with the lack of smokiness and juiciness in the beef though. Sauce was meh. I've been here a couple of times now and every time I seem to discover something better than the last. I have now discovered the 'beef baker," which is basically a massive baked potato stuffed with cheese, and beef brisket which is finely sliced and chopped right in front of you. They have a couple different barbeque sauces (regular and spicy). Both are good but nothing to write home about. The baker was really tasty though even without much BBQ sauce. The only real downside to this place is that it takes forever to get your food. It works kinda like a Subway or Moe's where you order your meat at the beginning, its cut you pick your sides, and then you pay. It takes between 15-20 minutes to get a to-go order made by the time you're through the line. It's good BBQ. but if you're in a hurry plan on waiting, especially if they're busy. If they speed it up I'll probably give them 4 stars instead of 3. read more

Bummed. After moving to Georgia I've had some of the best BBQ. This isn't one of those experiences. I watched the lady who eventually took my money empty a bag of pre-made mac n cheese into a dish. With all the options for homemade BBQ why choose chain food? I would recommend for a fast meal but the prices are the same as a sit down BBQ restaurant. Said a worker collected the baskets they put your food on from and went straight back behind the counter without washing. I goto Dickey's fairly frequently (about once a month for the last 2 years) because I love the barbecue and the atmosphere. I find myself at other BBQ joints comparing them to other Dickey's and none of them quite match up.
