My husband and I have been coming to this Dickey's Barbecue Pit for almost 4 years now and it's one our favorites, (if not our favorite) place to get ribs & brisket. Easy to get to, the people who work there are so nice. Every time we go there they always look like they are having a good time. So....... on to the food: we have tried pretty much all of the meats there over the past several years and they are moist, flavorful and just as delicious as you'd want & expect from good bbq. In fact, they are as close to bbq you'd get in Texas without having to go there! However, with all the meats and side dishes we've had there I think the only thing neither one of us was very fond of was the Kielbasa w/jalapeño & cheese. i just didn't like the texture of it. The side dishes (and we have tried every single one of them) are fantastic!!! I love the creamed spinach and the cole slaw, which are usually my two go to's. They recently started serving their meals with the thick sliced texas toast instead of the little rolls they used to have, big 2 thumbs up! The new gal that just recently took over Dickey's is AWESOME! We could tell something was different right when we walked in last week, not that it was bad before her because we obviously wouldn't have gone there lol, it was just a good vibe if you know what I mean. They also have daily specials that are great too. "The Grocery Outlet" store is going in right nextdoor to them so after it's opened go into Dickey's first and have a meal before going into to buy your groceries..... cause they say to never shop on an empty stomach cause you'll buy too much junk food ‍‍ Just go try out Dickey's, I promise it will not disappoint read more

This Dickey's location is in the Raley's shopping center. There is plenty of parking. I ordered the brisket sandwich. It was dry and there was not much brisket in it. I also ordered it with pickles and onions, but there were none. I also ordered it with no sauce since I was taking it home. I got one sauce with my order, and asked for one extra sauce. This is when things got worse. The worker gave me the one extra sauce. I was walking out and another worker stopped me. She made it a point to tell me that usually I would have to pay for the one extra sauce container. Based on other reviews here I am guessing this employee was the manager. She was very rude about it, and acted as if she was giving me her first born child. If I could rate this zero stars I would. The food was not good, and the customer service was even worse. read more

This was the absolute worst ran Dickey's I've EVER seen. One young man working by himself and he was trying his best to keep up, customers coming in having to wait 10-15 minutes just to order and another 30-40 minutes to get that order. The meats were dry, lacked flavor, and cut wrong. Customers were so disappointed and disgusted. Well I did some investigating. The owner is a 24 year old, who knows nothing about customers or customer service and their experience or satisfaction. There was an order placed by the company I work for. Pick up time was suppose to be 4:00pm. I got there at 4:10pm and you would think the order would be ready or at least almost ready. NOPE! The owner never told anyone about the order and so it was not made. There was about 25 people waiting for me to bring g the food back, which almost didn't happen. I'm not going to go into everything, but know if you go to Dickey's in Natomas on Del Paso, be prepared for anything. I ordered delivery from here 2 weeks ago while I was in town. Pork ribs. The ribs were very fatty; however, they were falling off the bone (a good thing) so even when I peeled the fat away, there was still plenty of tasty meat. I enjoyed it so much (5 Stars) I opted to try again 2 weeks later. :) Well, sorry to say, the exact opposite. In fact, I had to double check to make sure I ordered from the same place. This order was over cooked, the ribs, while leaner than the previous order, they were tough, about 25% was inedible (is that a word?). This second order didn't represent the first one at all. First order, the six ribs sat side by side, nice and thick and as I said, plenty of meat once the fat was removed. This order looked as though it was leftover, over-reheated with some of the meat burnt (as in worse than tough), and plopped into the package. No, I'm saying these were leftover, just presented and cooked that way. Minus four stars for the bummer and the waste of money. :( read more

Here is my two cents on the taste quality and quantity of Dickey's barbecue... dickeys barbecue was delivered by Uber, eats in a timely matter.. I ordered a taste of the Polish kielbasa, spare ribs, beef brisket with a side of green beans and potato salad.. I thought the Kielbasa was very good. Lots of flavor, and it melted in your mouth. ... oh the beef brisket just fell apart when you picked it up...may be a little bit on the dry side but otherwise very good.... The biggest problem here was the spare ribs they had flavor they were just too, too dried out to be really enjoyed properly ... You needed to actually cover them in barbecue sauce to really enjoyed them.. Onto the sides .. I found the green beans were extremely tasteful a tad on the spicy side, but very good , My other issue was how the beans were cooked down to almost nothing.. You could buy a can of green beans for $.70 at Walmart and yet they're charging you here $4.25 for 1/16 of a size... my biggest issue was the quantify of what they gave and what they would charge for a side...( see photo )... they charge you $4.25 for a side of this very very small portion of green beans.. and for the very same small portion of the potato salad, potato salad was extremely tasty but the size of the portion was so so small maybe not worth buying.. Consumers want a fair meal for a fair price ... The taste of the food was extremely well done but as far as the price they charge, and the quality of the food it was totally unreasonable . If they had given me a fair price on a fair amount of quantity, they would've gotten a higher rating, but in this case, I felt I was ripped off .. There are other barbecue joints that give you a better return for your money. ( Note: oh, I tried a Dickey barbecue in Florida. The one in Florida really sucked as far as the flavor in case of the food they gave you more food, but it was not as good...) Oh yes, one more note barbecue seems to travel so much better than a majority of the other foods that can be delivered .. read more

Always a wait for service and normally only one or two people are working. I've never had a problem with the staff. They do the best they can. However, we've ordered delivery multiple times and have gotten incomplete orders and have to make the drive to get the rest of our food. Yesterday, we ordered delivery hoping it'd be all smooth but I found a giant bone in my pulled pork sandwich and I'm just glad I didn't break my teeth. There needs to be some type of quality control and I hope management steps up. read more

Our order included a handwritten note courtesy of one of their employees that read "Don't do this again or you won't get b4 830" We could only assume this was because we ordered closer to closing which we only knew after we looked up the hours. There was nothing on Door Dash indicating you were closing soon, so how would this be on your guests? Why would your employees think it makes sense to chastise a patron about something that has nothing to do with them. I went in on a Thursday night around 7:30-7:50 pm. The latina girl in the front greeted us. We proceed to look at the menu to order. It was our first time there and we had no idea what to order. We later then got ready to order. The lady walked away but this young African American boy was at the cashier. As I proceed to order, he told us that they closed at 7:30pm already. I checked the time online and they said they are open until 9pm. Therefore I got upset and me and my girlfriend just left because we felt like they didn't want to serve us. Our large group came into this store for dinner. Andrew, Cassie and Kim were working tonight. They ran the place efficiently and answered all of our questions. We wound up with the family pack brisket dinner. It was great. My niece and nephew had the fried okra and I was surprised how much I liked it. Mmmm BBQ I love this Dickey's! It's in my neighborhood so we eat here regularly. Their food is consistently great. I always order the brisket but I love the jalapeño kielbasa too. I like the coleslaw and potatoes as a side but they have a ton of options! The guys (John, Hakeem, and Markus) behind the counter are awesome! Super fast and very helpful! The smell of grilling and barbecuing meats always reminds me of summer. Walking into Dickey's you'll get that smell in the air. We have been here numerous times, and have always ordered different items. We pretty much have experienced it all. The staff is generally friendly, but not always as helpful as I would like. This last visit, we tried ordering online, and after 10 minutes of their online site not working, we decided to just go in and order to go. We werent sure if the online pricing was different than the in store prices, and when we asked the counter staff, they didnt seem to know either. So we either missed out on a deal, or avoided paying extra for what would have been an online order. We ended up ordering ribs (sadly they dont have beef ribs) and a large brisket sandwich. I am a firm believer that sauce is usually a cover up for poorly seasoned meat, and that sauce should be an enhancement. Having said that, we ordered a chopped brisket sandwich in lieu of a sliced brisket sandwich. Maybe this was our mistake. The chopped beef lacked any flavor (we had sauce on the side) and looked and tasted like to was compacted together. Ick. The bread was chewy and made the sandwich less appealing. I have had the sliced brisket, and its better than the chopped version. The ribs were over seasoned, and it was a relief that the sauce was on the side. The tips were fatty (not unusual) but the meat itself was hard and dry. Add the salty rub that was used for seasoning, and it became known as " we should have ordered something else" I would have liked to had added sauce, but again, it would have been either a bad cover up, or seasoning gone mad. The sides were beckoning my name... new to me this time sides were the potato salad and the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was the gooey makes your tummy happy version, and tasted good. The portion was skimpy, and not shareable. The downside was that it was only good warm, and as it cooled down, became pasty and less tasty. The potato salad was yellow... like the mac n cheese. Almost questionable as to is that really potato salad?! Yes, it was. It had the usual fillers of bell peppers etc, which overwhelmed the potatoes themselves. It wouldnt be anything that I would try again. I tend to order the side green salad. The green beans were on par with the meat. Lacked flavor, and tasted like canned veggies. ick. We thought it may have been our timing, but truly the time a person dines shouldnt be impacted by food quality. I will say that its pretty cool that they will feed your kid for free on sunday's, and the soft serve ice cream is an added plus if you dine in. There is plenty of free parking, and the restaurant is always clean. read more

Rude- Came in to buy a meal for my grandma, I've only been to the Elk Grove location a couple of times years ago so I took a minute to look at the menu. I was welcomed when I first came in by the lady in the front she took my order and she was courteous. When it was time to pay the cashier(dreadlocks)... no hello!.. no how are you?...was processing the transaction he stopped what he was doing to start a conversation with a customer that just walked in. When the receipt printed still talking to the other person hands me the receipt with no pen, still he's having this full blown conversation- no offer.. still talking. I had to dig in my purse for a pen. He was totally disinterested and oblivious to processing my order. Even though the service was subpar I still left a tip. Being in management for years I've learned that impressions are everything, if you want returning customers...I mean "do you want my money or not"? I made an order for pick up for a family pack of four pulled pork sandwiches. When I got home and opened the boxes what I got was four servings of pulled pork each with a singular piece of wheat toast. No buns, no pickles or onions. Just meat and a piece of bread. Sad to say, I was really wanting a simple BBQ dinner and got a mix. I ordered the platter with ribs, links, pulled pork and burnt ends. This was 15.99 on the board and when I paid it was 19.56. So shake that and I open my bag, check my food and I was disappointed because there was 4 thin slices of sausage links, 2 ribs some pulled pork and what was supposed to be burnt ends was two globs of fat about the size of the two ribs they gave me. Definitely not happy and was not going back after driving over there after work and being tired. Will never eat at this location again. I've had nothing but good experiences at the location on Laguna Blvd, when I lived in that neighborhood. Sad that you look like your struggling and the tall guy cutting the meat doesn't seem to care. One of the worst experiences I've ever had in food service. I ordered catering online via website for a thanksgiving gathering ($600+). When i arrived to the store at the designated pickup time the cashier wasn't even aware of the order, then when he realized there was a large order, he didn't know how to fill a 'big yellow box' and had to call his manager. When i asked to speak to the manager, i was denied on multiple occasions. He ended up filling my order an hour later... and was still missing items, i had to pull up the details online to show him how to do his job. I was obviously irritated that not only was my order filled late and incorrectly, then was verbally assaulted and he became extremely aggressive. I've reached out to corporate to file a formal complaint and will surely be following up. read more
