Super bad experience-- I went through the drive-thru at lunchtime, only ordered two meals, and both were messed up. I got a baker with meat, and asked for no cheese or sour cream on it as I'm allergic to dairy. They left the cheese on. I ordered my husband the single meat plate with two sides, and they forgot the side of fries. While I was waiting for my meal I heard the woman at the window and a man working in the kitchen making fun of another customer for asking for a custom order-- no wonder they decided to ignore my request to leave the cheese off of the potato, though since there are only four or five ingredients on the whole potato it should have been very easy to do correctly. It's certainly not a cheap place, and since they got both of our orders incorrect there's no point in going back. Bummer. read more

Went there on Sunday for free kids meals with adult purchase. Sign states with equal or greater value purchase you would receive a free kids meal. It doesn't say you have to order sides and other things to receive this deal. The north location always is friendly and honors any purchase for a kids meal as I get a western sandwich only usualy. I told the manager that I have never heard of it being this way before and what the disclaimer on the sign said (free with equal or greater purchase) the manager says to me "I know what the sign says so order a side or pay for the kids meals" very antagonizing. So I left. All of the food was made, and you pay after you order. So now instead of a little common courtesy they get to loose 50$ in sales and all the food they made and get a lousy review. This particular Dickey's is horrible. All other locations have been great. A year ago, we went and they did not get our order right. One time, okay. We went back. This time they left out part of our order and the food was so greasy, we did not go back. Now, after a year, thought maybe we'd try it again. Worst then ever, the brisket was more than one third fat, and even worse the salad had mold on it. It is only this location on Sprague in Spokane Valley that has been horrible. read more

Man, I wanted to like this place. The inside is cute and it smells really good. We took the kiddos in for lunch after a soccer game thinking we would spend around 30 bucks......WRONG. (Granted, kids eat free on Sundays, so it would behoove you to wait if you're taking your whole brood.) This place was super expensive, and then when I asked for our cups the woman informed me we didn't pay for any drinks. We made our sandwiches into meals and it didn't come with a drink.....we paid like 12 dollars a piece for a sandwich and some onion strings and no drink. I asked for a water cup, which she said they don't give out (HUH??) but she said because I spent so much money (TRUE!) she would give me soda cups for water. I did have a really good salad, it had brisket and crispy onions, but it was hard to eat after a 50 dollar hit to the wallet.... Would way rather eat Long Horn. read more

I wish I could give them 2.5 stars because it was decent, but I have had better. It was no Texas Roadhouse, but it was ok. Okay, so this wasn't where I thought we were going out to dinner, but my husband was lured in by their new billboard as we drove down Sprague. I felt overdressed in a silky top with jewelery. I could have stayed in my yoga pants and oversized shirt I'd been wearing at home. lol. They say they're not fast food BBQ, but it sure feels like it in the totally casual dining room complete with plastic table clothes and generic Chinette plates. We ordered the Picnic Pack which was the smallest family meal. It was a pound of meat with 4 rolls and two medium sides, plus three small pops with free refills. We had beef brisket with coleslaw and onion tangles (shoestring onion rings). I don't know much about different sorts of BBQ, but I know I prefer wet and this was dry smoked and you add your own sauce. That being said, our brisket was smoky, lean and very tender. The sauces were supposed to be sweet, regular and spicy. To me they were spicy, spicier, spiciest, and kind of runny. My daughter and I had the "sweet" and tempered it with bites of decent coleslaw. We liked the onion tangles, but they were a little salty. The rolls were like small, flat ciabatta rolls. They were kind of disappointing and didn't come with any butter/margarine. There were three adults in our party--two big eaters and one that eats like a child. We were pleasantly full after the free ice cream. That was a nice touch. I didn't have any, but my husband and daughter said it was okay, but not as good as McDonalds if that means anything. Altogether, the meal was pushing $40 which seems a little dear for no leftovers. I wouldn't go back if it was just me, but my husband liked it so we'll probably return when he has a hankerin' for some BBQ again. read more

This is the most poorly run business I've ever been in. The food is so, so, but the prices are so high. The menu in the store is impossible to figure out. You can't tell what to order to get what you want, and be prepared for a rude reaction, if you ask. I think they make their menu confusing, so they can blame the customer for an order prepared incorrectly. Do yourself a favor and neglect your urge for bbq, at least from here. The last time I ate at Dickey's was more than 40 years ago. My first job as a teenager was at one of the originals in Dallas. They treated the teenagers like slaves and I quickly moved on. I hadn't set foot in one since. I recently started seeing a the signs and wondered. Tonight I walked in and told them I had a few weird questions. After finding out the founders were dead and the son's doing the franchising, I decided to buy dinner and give it a try. The four is for Texas BBQ in the Northwest. In Dallas, I'd probably give it a 3. Good, basic bbq and sides (pulled pork, brisket, beans and slaw). Somebody mentioned the Texas Roadhouse? Get real. A cheesy, faux Texas chain that suckers folks with no clue? Nope, go to Dicke's. read more

I went to get the brisket sandwich special that is advertised on the website. When I got there, the special was pulled pork, and I was told they change it up from time to time. The pork sandwich was pretty good, but the bun was ice cold. The cole slaw was good, but the potato salad was more like mashed potatoes. Overall, it was a pretty good deal, but I didn't care for the atmosphere. The guy working there seemed to have a smug attitude, like I was supposed to feel privileged to be eating there. read more

I had Dickey's in the Spokane Valley location on Sprague a few days ago. I ordered the 3 plate meal and it was delicious. The meat was fresh and tender with a good amount of meat & two sides all for $14. My wife and I decide to get Dickey's from the Spokane location on Division and my god it was horrible. The kid cutting the meat had no idea what he was doing. The proportions were awful. And they were more expensive! What a joke. I won't be eating at this location again. read more

I'm amazed by the bad reviews. My experience has been the exact opposite of most complaining reviewers . Granted most people who write reviews just like to bitch, so I always take that with a grain of salt. I have only eaten there twice, but both times it was outstanding! I've tried the chicken, ham, and brisket. I tend not to order brisket as when it's bad it's really bad however on my two occasions it has been delicious. It was very lean, tender, (cut it with a fork) and full of flavor. I always season my food but their brisket stands strong on its own. The ham is fantastic! I must add I hate fatty meat, and ham is not really known for being lean. Here it's lean and smokey leaving my mouth begging for more. The chicken is juicy, tender and full of flavor. Even my husband liked the chicken. He's not a big fan of chicken unless it's on a bone and deep fried! The only side I have tried here was the potato casserole. That was pretty good. Not as outstanding as the meat, but I didn't go there for potatoes. When I've been there i order meat by the pound to ensure left overs for sandwiches! So, I have been twice now & had the bbq pulled pork both times. Both times I was cheerfully greeted, as were all who came in after me. I was served very quickly. The serving sizes was quite large, the buns buttered, toasted & delicious. The meat alone had a wonderful smoky taste, & the sweet sauce was delicious on it. I ordered the cole slaw for a side. The dressing was really good, the cabbage chopped perfectly, but the cabbage looked and tasted like it was all core & tough outer leaves. There did not seem to be any actual cabbage, tender & crisp, in it at all. It had a good flavor, just wish it had had some actual cabbage in it. Then it would have been perfect. But the meat was excellent, the service & friendliness superb, and the place was clean. Pricy, but meat is not cheap!! And they heap on the meat. For our church dinner, we also had the ribs, as well as the pulled pork. They were tender & flavorful, and everyone really liked them. read more

I had heard lots of good things about the Dickeys up North, so I was excited to try the one in the Valley. They were really busy when I arrived and within minutes it was evident that they are struggling. First I need to say that the guy that took my order and the guy that took my money were both nice and professional. The rest of the crew was not. I actually saw a gal in the kitchen SPIT into a garbage can! I almost walked out then. But, I wanted to try the food. The guys that were helping at the counter appeared to be confused half of the time. It took forever to get up to the counter to order. I ordered a 2 meat plate with chopped brisket and pulled pork. I had the baked potato casserole and Cole slaw for my sides. I saw on the menu that my meal was supposed to come with pickles and onions but I didn't get those. The food: The brisket was good, very little fat. The pulled pork wasn't what I expected. Not very flavorful and a weird consistency. The sides were OK, nothing special. I did like the roll. This meal was $15 after taxes, no drink, but it was enough for 2 meals for me. Anyway, I would go back for the brisket, but they really need to get some better help or they are going to struggle. The folks working looked dirty (2 guys had long icky dreadlocks), one had a really dirty hat on, and again, they all appeared to be very confused, except the two already mentioned. read more

I ordered Dickey's for a team event at work. I contacted them prior to pick up to place the order and when I left with my purchased items, I did not realize there were some missing items (sauces, utensils). The food was still amazing and my team thoroughly enjoyed it. When I sent a message to corporate with my feedback, I received a call from the OWNER! She was so apologetic and wanted to make things right. These things were honest mistakes, and I was so thankful and impressed that the owner took the time to contact me directly. I had dinner their last night and the food was again amazing. What a great business and great food! read more

We have eaten here a handful of times having gone through the drive-thru. While it does take some time to prepare our food after ordering our food has always been good. Tonight we decided to order on line to avoid waiting in our car for 15 minutes for our food. We went through the drive thru thinking it would be easy to just swing on through and pick up our food as it was supposed to be ready at 6 and it was about 6:05. We waited in the drive thru for about 5 minutes without even being acknowledged and so decided to go on in. We were informed when we walked in that they were still preparing our order which wasn't a huge deal. While we were waiting we saw a car that had pulled up to the drive through after us that finally just gave up and decided to leave after they too were never acknowledged. The place was filthy, there was BBQ sauce all over the counter where the soft drink machines are, crumbs everywhere, and just general dirtiness. Then as I was waiting I happened to notice the mess back where the food was being prepared, garbage on the floor, food on the floor and boxes everywhere. After waiting about 15 minutes our order was finally ready. We got home which is no longer than a 5 minute drive and our food was cold, not luke warm but COLD. My husband's BBQ sandwich was also missing the BBQ sauce that he had specifically ordered when placing our order on line. The young lady and young man that were working were very pleasant, I feel that they were just extremely understaffed. We likely will not return. There are too many other options for BBQ in the valley to bother. read more

First off the customer service was crap we stood there forever where no one smiled said can I help you or anything which there was 2 workers standing right there finally a guy came up from the back looked at us and just said sides? We said we just wanted a pound of pulled pork which then took him forever to dish up when we went to the girl behind the register to pay it rang up $15.50 and we said we had just called the division store and they said a pound of pulled pork was 13.50 she just kept going like we didn't even say anything to her. This all took so long that the ppl behind us decided to walk out without ordering anything which there wasn't even any other customers in the store or drive thru. As the guy handed the girl our order I heard him say don't forget the sauce well when we got home we had pickles and onions but no sauce good thing we planned on making our own sauce anyways but the poor customer service is enough to never go back such a shame since the meat was pretty good read more

Went back for another try. Monday, Memorial Day. Just as we pulled into the parking lot a baseball team arrived. Despite the sudden invasion of customers, the staff got everyone fed in no time at all. It was much more efficiently run, and the staff didn't seem fazed at all by the sudden crowd. Every surface was filthly, with dead bugs in the windowsills and overflowing garbage. Watched my sandwich get cold while they prepared sides. My husband and I drove all the way out from Newman Lake to try Dickeys and our expectations were far from met. We weren't greeted, not one employee smiling or looked like they wanted to be there. They weren't busy, only 3 tables were filled so there was no excuse for the lack of customer service. We stood in line for 10 minutes as the employees slowly walked around grabbing ingredients and chatting. Finally, we are able to sit down but I hadn't received my pulled pork sliders (I imagine the second easiest thing to prepare over the sides) until about 10 minutes after we paid. My husband instantly received his sandwich and sides and onion straws after paying but asked for no slaw and still had it smothered on his sandwich. The food was good, but the customer service was so unpleasant, it made eating there very uncomfortable. My husband mentioned the mens bathroom looked and smelled absolutely horrendous and as we left all the employees were out in the back goofing off. I honestly suggest to the owner replacing the staff with people who actually want to be there. I can't imagine how successful this business is going to be if continuing the way they are and with an overall 2 star rating, that really speaks volumes about the business. I tried out Dickey's last night in the valley after filling up my gas tank nearby. It had a good atmosphere and seemed clean, friendly staff too. I thought I'd be coming back soon, maybe with a friend even. I got the 3 meat plate which came with 2 sides, a roll, and some pickles and onions. Now I've eaten at a lot of BBQ places throughout the south, I know it's pricey and portions are conservative. It was still very disconcerting watching them weigh out the portion of brisket, putting some on the scale then pulling tiny bits off until they got a precise measurement. In the end it almost looked like a tiny pile of ground beef, I've never seen brisket served this way. When I got home and opened up my container I had 2 more tiny piles of turkey breast and polish sausage. The sides were okay, I got mac 'n cheese and jalapeno beans, decent portions too. The meats were the most bland BBQ I've ever had, the brisket being the true disappointment here. It was just this little pile of broken up meat, brisket is usually sliced and they did try to slice it, but so thin and so small that it just broke up, by the time they were done manipulating it to the proper weight it was just a sad little pile of meat pieces. $15 bought me a little bit of someones poor attempt at BBQ, and a lot of disappointment last night. It's kind of strange, the most important part of a BBQ place (the BBQ) is the only reason I won't be going back. read more
