As a transplant who has been living in WA for 7 years now, I was told that I had to come to Dick's because it was a Washingtonian thing. It's unlike any place I've been--you place your order outside at one of the stations and the order gets turned around in minutes. The servers and cooks must work very hard! I have to say the service was cheerful and great. The burger and the milkshake... less great. If I want a good burger or a good milkshake, I'm probably going to go to Habit Burger or Katsu Burger. My Washington friends highly recommended this fast food chain, saying that it's their staple burger chain in Washington. The location that my friends and I went to was in Kent, located in the same parking lot as Lowe's. The parking area for here can get packed as it's only a take out place and people are eating in their cars. I got the deluxe burger and fries. It looked sad by how small it seemed. But boy. The burger is pretty good! The relish def made the burger goooood. I can see why people would hype this place up. The fries aren't bad either. Pretty oily but understandable because it's a fast food chain LOL. Prices are relatively cheap, but I had to pay for the condiments?? What LOL that's different. First review of the year! I'm a big fan now for sure. Finally got to have Dick's in my mouth!!! Sooo yum haha. Dick's is supposed to be the Washington (Seattle mainly) version of California's In-N-Out. Comparable since they are both cheap, using fresh never frozen beef! Anyway, I had to try the different options. The deluxe (double double), the special (single cheeseburger) and of course the fries. I forgot to try the regular cheeseburger lol. If you want to taste the condiments and veggies more, get the special. The deluxe is definitely more meaty! Fries were not bad! Just ok, but I digged the burnt saltiness and semi sogginess of them. The fries complimented the burger staple of Dick's! In-N-Out still has better fries, but I came here for the burger!! Overall, I LOVED that I could taste their patties. I'm a California native born and raised. So I'm supposed to love In-N-Out the "mostest" hahah. But to be honest, I thought Dick's was better! A super unpopular opinion I'm sure, however everyone's entitled to their own thoughts! I feel all Californians say In-N-Out is the best cuz that's the bias they're always gonna have. Same with Seattle/Washington natives who I'm sure would say Dick's is the best. It's just what you grew up with LOL. Yes I admit, In-N-Out has the better sauce & spread but a burger is supposed to be all about the meat too right? That's the star of the show, and if I can't taste the meat patty because the spread and veggies overwhelm it, then I feel it's not that great of a burger. That's my main gripe with In-N-Out was that I could never taste the patties. Their burger would drown in sogginess due to the veggies/sauce (I liked Dick's semi soggy fries but I don't want soggy burgers lol)! I didn't want to have to substitute and remove the veggies to taste 'em more. Or have to get a hamburger just to taste the patties. I want all the fixings just in a proportioned way and to come as is. Also, they're always so so messy. Why can't In-N-Out just wrap it, enclosed so it's nice and warm vs. getting a colder burger by the time you get home with In-N-Out lol. I'm not trying to hate, it's just my honest opinion between the two. The simple mayo relish for the Dick's burger just brings out the meat flavor more for me. The other thing I tried was my fiance's chocolate milkshake which was honestly and plainly good as well. Richer, smooth chocolate taste. I think it's better than In-N-Out's shakes. Sometimes less is more. I appreciate the simple and no nonsense approach Dick's has: -no substitutions -shakes are one size -no drive thru, just a plain drive in/walk up type of joint -packaged & wrapped up nicely/not messy like In-N-Out -no dumb long line just to get a burger! lol However, I do wish they'd offer the mayo as a fries condiment, aside from ketchup. Funny enough, they offer tartar sauce instead. Not mayo but tartar sauce, and they don't even serve fish! Oh Dick's lol. Not a deal breaker for me cuz I still enjoyed my meal but it would be nice to have mayo on the side. Also, I heard they have a starting pay for their fast food workers at $20-25!? Sheesh. With tuition support and full medical benefits & 401k matching?! Just wowww. Good for them. Sorry for the long review of this fast food burger chain hahahh. If you read all this, thank you! Whenever I travel to Seattle, I almost always will make a couple of stops at a Dick's Drive-in. Since I was staying near the SeaTac Airport, I drove down here a couple times for a quick, cheap, and delicious meal. Each time, I would get my usual order: 2 Dick's Deluxe and a milkshake. This location was no different from the other locations that I've visited in that both the taste and quality was consistently good. The employees here were fast and efficient. One of the first places that was recommended to me when I moved to Seattle 20+ years ago was dicks drive i I looked at the person like they were crazy but they highly encouraged that I try it. It's a local burger joint but well worth the trip. if you're averse to long lines, go online to their website and they have line cameras at most of their locations now so you can see what kind of a potential wait there might be. The menu is simple, and the workers move things along very quickly. I have found a fair amount of parking at each location and eat in my vehicle. The parking lots are kept clean. One of the down sides to moving back to WA is no more In-N-Out Burger. I ate at Dick's many years ago and here everyone thinks this place is the greatest place ever for burgers. Decided to give them another try with an open mind. I LOVED the chocolate shake, it was better than the other place. Fries were also good but not as good as In-N -Out. This place doesn't put onions on their burgers and I love GRILLED ONIONS on my burger but that wasn't an option. The burger was good but needed grilled onions. I don't usually come here because I find the food to be too greasy, but I did today because the burgers were 19 cents. The fries were still too greasy which I knew before coming, no complaints. Dick's Burgers without having to go all the way to Seattle? SCORE. The line is always a healthy wait here, but they get through it quickly. Due to COVID, they've had social distance monitors here. I've heard some take their job seriously more than others... My usual order is the Dick's Deluxe with fries - and if I'm feeling like really going all in, I'll get a vanilla shake. The Dick's Deluxe is delicious. I always only get one and regret it, because I totally think I could eat two since they aren't super huge. The fries are amazing, too. I know some complain because they aren't crunchy but I am a SOGGY FRY STAN. They're salty, they're soggy... They are AMAZING and I can't be told otherwise. Dicks is always good, this is a regular stop every time I am near. I love that they pay their employees a livable wage and the food is always above average and cheap. You really can't beat a burger for the price. These burgers honestly don't taste any different compared to other fast food burgers, the only real value and love for them is the price. This is Washington's version of In N Out, but don't expect too much. They are pretty standard burgers that are $3.50 or less. The deluxe burger comes with everything, but you need to order the condiments on the side, which are only a nickel each. The fries were soggy, so I didn't like that. We get excited any time it works out to stop at Dicks. Since we live in Tacoma, the Kent location is the closest. Love the vibe and the quick, simple and delicious burgers. I didn't get a picture of the fries this time but they were kind of sad and soggy. I got a Dicks Deluxe burger and it was tasty as always. Never have i heard of Dick's or the appeal of its menu. i am a big 'cheap eats' person that isn't the mainstream fast food. I was looking for something fast and simple on the way home from a trip to Seattle and came across this gem. Now it is no in n out, more of a sonic burgers type... I would say the best best is to get the dirt cheap cheese burger and a few sides of sauce to spread round. The fries aren't amazing, and the burgers aren't crazy good, but as far as price goes, I would say it is good for its lane. Now why the 4 star review.. Well honestly I do not know, but I liked it and enjoyed the whole experience. I got one of each types of burgers, now the deluxe one had no cheese, yet... it was a superior item on their menu... Dick's new location right in Kent by the Home Depot is literally a replica of the one near the University. The burgers range from $2 - $3 dollars and the fries is just under 2 bucks. In the mood for a shake with your burger? This place has it all. The burgers aren't anything too special, they are beef burgers with a mayo, ketchup, pickle mix and are never piping hot but just warm - I think this has to do with the fact that the burgers are always ready to go.
