Here I am at Mission Viejo shops, all I really need is a pair of croakies, those wraps that go around the neck, so I don't lose my sunglasses. Oddly, people were telling me to go to Dick's Sporting Goods, apparently they have one here at the mall. But of course I had to go to four other places and none of them had what I needed. Upon entering the store, every sales person and cashier was extremely professionally attentive. Teammate, Jacob especially cool. Also Ava ! Their manager Kyle sets a very positive tone. Unfortunately, after an attempt to check out today at 520pm lower floor with Kyle the rating lowered from my prior amazing experience to 3 stars. After waiting for 5 mins as the 2nd person in line I finally nicely asked if there was another person they could call to help as his customer was buying literally about 30 gift cards. His response was, " yeah there's another register upstairs". No sorry nor display of any concern for the inconvenience of me having to go the opposite direction and floor to check out. Went upstairs and someone else helped me who was great. Ryan in the baseball area was super nice and helpful. 10 mins later and that customer is still being helped by Kyle. Management may want to work with Kyle on how to handle a nice customer asking for assistance. At least a sorry and offer to go upstairs. read more

Hi! We have been shopping here for our baseball stuff for a while. Never once did someone help us with picking our bats or gloves. We don't know the differences except when it comes to size. After our brand new bat broke this past game we came back to exchange it. While looking around an older gentleman Mike V (employee) approached us. He knew everything we needed to know about the bats and gloves . He gave us 2 to choose from we bought it and our boy played like he never had before. He had hit after hit. Thanks Mike V! I've not had a problem with Dick's directly, but they have outsourced their delivery & assembly (D&A) service to AIT Worldwide Logistics (AIT). If you buy a treadmill, gym set, or any other athletic equipment from Dick's requiring delivery & assembly, beware of paying for a very poorly managed service with AIT. I scheduled D&A for Friday, then they changed it to earlier on Wednesday from 9:00 to 12:00. On Wednesday, after 12:00 came and went, I contacted AIT a number of times with no response for remedy. I finally called Dick's at 3:00 and they apologized, but still no solution. By this time, my day was a mess having to hassle with AIT. After that, I realized that if you can't trust AIT to manage a delivery service, how do they expect me to trust them with assembly! I ended up canceling my order altogether. Dick's store manager was very nice and canceled the order. But Dick's upper management needs to do their D&A business with some other company. As a follow up, I bought directly from the manufacturer with a different service company for delivery & assembly. read more

Randomly stopped at Dicks Sporting Goods. The boyfriend and I were at the mall, grabbing yummy teas with boba. When my boyfriend said he wanted to find some longer shorts. I feel like everytime he sits down, his junk is hanging out lololol Not really, I'm being dramatic. But still. They are on the short side. And I don't want my boyfriend looking like he is wearing girl shorts that don't fit him lol So, we looked at a couple stores and then found ourselves at Dicks. While he was trying on shorts, I entertained myself with selfies in the floor length mirros. hahaha The mirrors are pretty nice. You can see your whole outfit. Sadly, most of the shorts in his size were not any longer. They were all short still. Boo. He did find a pair of Under Armour shorts that were like a sweatshirt material, those were actually longer. But he was looking for jean material. The store was clean and the staff were friendly. The button for the regular fitting room was not working, so we pressed the button on the handicap fitting room, and someone came over. read more

Once again, yet another establishment where you can get great customer service, unless you happen to be a black person. My wife was trying to buys shoes for our daughter and none of the employees would offer to help her as she sat there looking right at them waiting. When she finally asked one of them for help she was told by an employee that he would be right with her. During the next 27 minutes more and more white people walked up and got helped immediately while she continued to wait. Sadly many people are oblivious to racism as was I until 29 years ago I married a black woman. She and our children deal with treatment like this (aka micro-aggression) on a daily basis! Crazy to be constantly reminded that people don't like you or trust you just because of the skin you were born with. I wonder if this store trains their employees to treat all customers equally? I intend to find out before ever shopping here again. read more

I personally know how tough it is to run a business, let alone a retail business in an economic time of inflation & easier accessibility with online shopping. I really wanted to rate this store higher but couldn't. I'm rating this store at 3-stars but the only reason I'm writing this review is to give accolades to employee KEENAN W with 5-stars! We were at the store for at least a half hour walking all over both floors several times looking for an item that was supposedly available, based on their website. We saw a few employees that seemed unavailable and uninterested in helping even though they were on the floor and not behind a checkout register. The store was dead at 6:30PM but no one made eye contact with me or acted too busy to offer customer service....until we were ready to leave and ran into a friendly employee named KEENAN. He made immediate eye contact and asked if he could help. We told him we walked all over the store looking for an item that was supposedly in-stock at this location according to their website. He asked what it was and he said the website might say it's there erroneously but he was willing to go check the stock room. We told him it was okay and that we could just come back another time but he happily insisted and said it was no trouble to go look at unboxed inventory. He came back within 10 minutes with my 40 oz Owala in the color I wanted and still wrapped in cellophane! He said it was up on a pallet in the back and apologized it wasn't on the floor yet. KEENAN's willingness to notice us in the aisle, offer help without acting bothered, and taking the time to search unboxed merchandise in the back is exceptional customer service! He deserves recognition and is hopefully appreciated by Dick's and this particular store's management team. read more

I just left Dicks with a hand full of merchandise I was set to purchase. I have wasted my time going there. My coupon seemed to stun the cashier as much as the two other completely clueless employees I'd spoken to. After putting the items back all because the so called manager was too busy 15 feet away from the register to assist in taking in my money, the obvious was now evident. Cash isn't King there as social bullshit was more important to them. I'll never get that half hour back but at least I know better than to shop there again. read more

I went in to find a Christmas present for my wife and ended up picking out a kayak. I didn't come prepared to transport it home so I asked if they set things aside for later pickup and they said they do that. Great! So I purchase the kayak to lock in the price, which seemed great, and to prevent someone else from buying it first. I asked the employee who was helping me if it was on sale since the price seemed low. He checked on his work tablet and said no, this was the normal price (which was clearly marked and hanging from the kayak - no ambiguity). So I purchase the kayak and come back after Christmas to pick it up. To be fair, I forgot to bring the receipt, but since I watched the guy I bought it from clearly label it with my name and phone number, that didn't seem like it should be a problem since I can show my ID as well as provide the details of the transaction. I was helped at first by an extremely reluctant employee who seemed to wander in and out confused, and the most I got out of her was that "they" were trying to find the kayak. After a while she completely disappeared and then I stood there alone for 25 minutes with no information whatsoever about what was happening, except the occasional person asking if I was the guy there for the kayak. I started poking around to see if anyone was going to help me and I overheard one girl ask what looked like a manager, if he was looking for the kayak and he pretty much said it wasn't his problem. After around 30 minutes of waiting the only helpful person there (whose name I sadly don't know) finally took the initiative to let me know they had found the kayak. She used my credit card to verify my purchase and was apologetic for the wait. Great! It's taking a while but that's no big deal. Things happen and I'm not their only customer. After a few more minutes I see some guys bring the kayak in and set it by the door. Seems like things are wrapping up, I see the kayak, they've verified the transaction, I should be on my way. But then they say they need to verify some other purchase number and I proceed to keep waiting another 15 minutes. I have no idea why I'm still there at this point, seeing as how I've been verified and they found the kayak. Then they bring up another completely different kayak from the display rack and say that's the one I bought, which it wasn't. Evidently the guy who sold it to me was unaware that he somehow sold me the wrong kayak. So now, I've spoken with 5 different people, waited for nearly an hour with very little information about what was going on, only to be told they sold me the wrong kayak, and they try and charge me for the difference, after I verified when I purchased it that this was the real price for this specific kayak. The incompetence is unreal. How this place stays in operation I do not know. I went in on my lunch break so by this time I'm quite late getting back to work and have no Christmas gift for my wife. I am a DoorDasher and was blindsided by an order containing 35 items to shop for. It ranged from underwear to 14 pairs of shoes, to portable oxygen, to grinder plates. The customer was extremely high maintenance and kept changing her mind on things. I ended up spending close to two hours shopping for the customer and the employees that were working. That evening were amazing. I wish I had written down their names. Whoever closed on 3/19/2025 were phenomenal! I think I had 5-7 different people helping me get all the items. The total of the order was just under $2000 and they were just awesome! If their manager sees this, please give them a raise, a bonus, a pizza party...whatever you're allowed to do when customers receive fabulous customer service from your employees! They really went above and beyond on this one! The customer ended up stiffing me on a promised big tip, but at least I had wonderful people helping me. I figure that even if I got shortchanged, I can at least give props where praise was due! Thank you so much! read more

Went here on Sunday. Apple and google maps said they were open. No one would answer the phone when called and no recorded message saying they were closed. I came on a Sunday at 6:05 pm to buy a kayak. Their website said open until 7:00 pm. I arrive and all the gates are drawn down (both upstairs and downstairs). So I call the store and no answer. I walk around for a bit to try and see what's going on. I called again and finally got someone on the phone. They said they are open but they close their gates at 6:00. Huh?? He then told me I need to walk through food court and try to find my way in through the front door. I walked around for a bit trying to find front exit and finally gave up because it was already 6:35 at that point. Not a good experience. If you close at 7:00 pm you draw down the gates at 7:00pm NOT at 6:00pm and then tell your customers to play hide and seek for the front door. read more

Almost every time...tonight we got there and the employee checked and sure enough is little hand held thingy said they had an item.... Wahwah....nope he couldn't find the item. A nice mall surprise! After hunting for work shoes for my wife, going to several department stores and sporting goods stores; we came to the conclusion that customer service is all but non-existent. Our first stop was another local sport shop, where we had to corner, capture, tag and finally ask for help. The "shoe specialist" knew nothing of what was carried in store or which shoes came in wide or all black or both. We stopped into Dick's not expecting much, but instead ran into Kyle in the upstairs shoe department. Kyle started telling us which shoes would possible work for my wife, ringing out several pairs. He offered up the first pair and told us he thought those would be the best. My wife tried them on, they were comfortable and then she tried the other three or four pairs. All would have worked to a good extent, yet she came back to the first pair. Kyle had explained, beforehand, about the shoes and why he thought they would be the best pair. Needless to say, we walked out with a pair of shoes. We waited to post, until after the first full day of work. They are the most comfortable shoes my wife has owned in years. Kyle made a couple of of fans and we will be back to this location. read more

Dicks, what is going on?! I love shopping here. So much so I'm a gold member. This store in particular has everything I need. I've gotten great experiences before. In fact, a few months ago I did a super long survey at the amazing experience I had with sales associate David who helped me find and break in a baseball glove. Today- 6/22 1:30 pm was a completely different story. I went downstairs to try and find a pair of boys Nike dri-fit pants that I was told upstairs had 3 available in the soccer section. As I'm looking around for help there is a heavy set brunette associate standing and chatting with another male associate with glasses (in the vicinity). They looked like store managers because they had the different color shirts not the green ones. I approach them and ask for help and she simply tells me to go over there and look. I told her I didn't have my glasses and needed help and she just continued to chat away. I literally had to find someone else to help me- a young boy who looked busy, but actually took the time to scan and try and find the item for me. As we were standing there another customer comes over and says I'm having a hard time finding someone to help me. Probably because the two people that were downstairs were too busy chatting. I love this store so much, but some of the Associates are way too lazy. I wish I would have had the time to get her name because it really bothered me that she was there doing nothing at all. I'm sure I'm going back and when I see her I'll add her name to this review. Hopefully this was just a one time bad experience. read more

My daughter needed help with golf clubs, so we went to the local golf store. Their customer service was so poor (they acted like children were not worth their time) that we left and drove down the street to Dick's in an attempt to not drive to the next furthest golf store. Best decision! Dan worked the golf department and was so helpful that we wound up buying a full set of clubs instead of just the few we needed. It was because he suggested that our daughter try her swing before purchase. Dick's has a putting area and an indoor driving range. Who knew?! Trying the club led to the discovery that she probably needed a larger set of clubs. Dan also shared his favorite foam practice balls for indoor use. They had the additional club she needed as well. All in all, we appreciated Dan's great customer service, the reasonable price, and the close proximity to home. We'll try Dick's next time for our golf needs before visiting a specialty store. read more

The service here isn't great. We went in to try on shoes, and couldn't get help for at least 30 minutes. They also didn't have most shoes in various sizes and didn't offer to order or look up if the shoes were in another store... I would have bought multiple pairs that day, but instead I left having wasted my time. I have also seen this store with the gates rolled down, doors locked at 10am, when its supposed to have opened at 9am. Not a satisfactory experience! The employees were all tired, reluctant to interact and looked frustrated. Not a single smile from any of the employees. Found the pair of soccer shoes that I wanted by researching online (no help nor recommendations from any of the employees) and found a better deal on soccer.com. Their policy is to match prices with major corporations and companies selling the identical product. I went to check out my item and NATE didn't accept to match the price for me. He said he had never heard of soccer.com!!!!!! I kindly asked to discuss the matter with a manager and he claimed that he is a manager and there are nobody else higher than him available in the store. This happened while a day ago I had price matched a pair of shoes with soccer.com at their Alicia Pkwy branch with no questions asked. So I grabbed the shoes and went downstairs to a different checkout area and presented the soccer.com pricing. No questions asked, the chashier matched the price and I got the deal I wanted. If Nate is a manager as he claimed he was with a conceited tone, he should have known about how big soccer.com is, and instead of being uptight about a $20 discount, he should've offered to help and find a similar deal for me. read more
