Love love love Diego Pops! We don't live super close, so we've only been a few times. We love the patio. Even when it's hot af, the patio is nice and cool. You don't get soaked by the misters either, which is good. Their happy hour chips and salsa is only $1! Can't beat it! Their salsa is so yummy and has a nice heat to it. I always go for the shrimp bowl (with the crispy shrimp). It's like my favorite thing ever. It's super filling, and I never finish it. The flavors all just meld so well. I will ask for more pickled red onion next time :) my husband got the Sonoran dog and the shrimp taco (taco version of the bowl I got). He liked both, but he felt the Sonoran dog was a little plain for $9. We both got margaritas as well - I had the house margarita, which was delightful. My husband got the frozen lime - the look of it was a little off-putting because it was like fluorescent green. He enjoyed it, but it was far too sweet for me. I chose to have my birthday party of 20 people here. I have gone to MANY scottsdale restaurants and have NEVER took the time to write a negative complaint on a restaurant. Everything that could've gone wrong went wrong. The service was extremely rude, and made the experience dreadful. They never took the time to talk to the table or accommodate for a big group. After working in the service industry, I have zero sympathy for the poor service. If you are thinking of coming here for a birthday, special occasion, or just a fun night out I would highly recommend going somewhere else in Scottsdale. Our server right off the bat had an attitude, never checked in, and made the whole party feel like an inconvenience. The place had a 30 min wait time before we were able to get in even on a Wednesday night at 8. So remember to reserve before going. The atmosphere inside of this place was good but not working. Considering it's a cocktail bar I was expecting the invitation to be better. The chips and queso was excellent as an appetizer. So cute! the patio has air conditioning which is perfect for the arizona summer. I came for lunch with the girls and it was the perfect atmosphere! I got a pitcher of sangeria ($35) which is perfect for 4-6 (ish)people to share for one drink or (in my case) perfect for 2 to share for multiple drinks. Our server was nice and didn't rush us. Since arriving to Phoenix I've been told I need to check out Diego Pops at least once a week. Finally got to visit, but I would say it was a bit disappointing. The space is beautiful with neon signs, cute art, and plenty of seating both inside, at the bar, and on the patio, but they don't take reservations and the wait was longgggg. Cocktail menu mainly features drinks made with tequila except one that's vodka and one that's a sangria, but I'm sure you can order something off-menu as the bar is fully stocked. The sangria was great; a friend got the Tropic Like It's Hot Margarita, which is made with coconut tequila, is definitely spicy, and comes with a half-lime lit on fire (very cool!); and my other friend got the watermelon mint margarita. Unfortunately, all of our food was lukewarm or borderline cold. The tacos are on the small side but bursting with flavor; there was the green chili chicken which came in a yummy and crunchy tortilla taco, the Al Pastor which is a classic pork taco with pineapple, the crispy shrimp, and the grilled adobo chicken. The tacos came out pretty fast but we didn't get the street corn queso until we finished them; it was also unfortunately lukewarm. Alyssa, our waitress, was really nice and attentive. The food and margaritas are amazing! I loved the street corn, queso, prickly pear margarita and strawberry margarita. The restaurant is also so cute, take lots of pictures! It was a little hot inside but they had lots of air conditioning and fans available and had them directly facing us and we were super comfortable. We did not have a great experience with the event coordinator that you are required to speak with to place a reservation for large parties. We were under 1 person the threshold of 10 guests 48 hours before our reservation date. We now had 9 confirmed guests because people had unfortunately tested positive for Covid and were unable to make it. I told her that we would still pay the minimum required for 10 people as well as pay the cancellation fee. She told us we would need to have 10 people present. Monetarily the business would not have lost anything and we have had this reservation since March so it was definitely frustrating and stressful. Even more so that her direct number kept saying it was disconnected and she's not present at the restaurants so it was difficult to reach her via phone. Thankfully, the manager Sam was amazing and really made up for this experience from a customer service perspective and we really appreciate his flexibility, understanding and great hospitality. He truly saved our experience at Diego Pops and we are so grateful. All in all, we had a great time and I still feel the business itself deserves 5 stars even if one person provided poor service. read more

Brussels Sprouts Nachos: street corn, chilis, picked onion, and beet crema, topped with an egg. Gotta say, this was 100% better than I thought it would be. The flavors melded well, and the egg was a unique touch. The crema gave it a very interesting color, fun to eat! Grilled Street corn: Corn was fresh, cheeto dust was fun, hit the spot, simple enough. Grilled Plantain: I got it in bowl form, but know that it's available in taco form. The bowl comes with option of rice (cilantro/coconut) and beans (black/brown). I ate wayyyy too many chips, otherwise this bowl would've at least been mostly gone. Tangy, sweet, salty...this bowl offered all of the flavors you could possibly want. I would suggest a better vegetarian protein option such as tofu. Other than that, a great meal and a great time! My favorite was Beef, then the Shrimp and then the Plantain. I was disappointed in there Flan It was very dry and dense had very little flavor. Normally Flan is very light and just melts in your mouth. Everyone in my party enjoyed there meals. Our Hostess/Server was awesome and she paid attention to everything.
