We love the food, service and atmosphere here. Today we spent a beautiful spring afternoon on the patio. This is more of a slow eating establishment and a great place to slow down for the day. The food was fresh, hot and full of flavor. Parking is a bit tricky, but this place is worth the slight challenge.

Wow! We ended up here by accident and Diego's didn't disappoint. Can't wait to return! Funky, unique atmosphere. Fantastic service. DELICIOUS flavors. The bread came first. Thank you! Yummy snack to take the edge off our hunger. We ordered honey sraracha pork loin and the fish taco plate. Yum! They brewed a fresh pot of decaf for us so we could enjoy the caramel coffee experience Everything was fresh and amazing. Don't miss this dining opportunity.

Wow! What a neat little restaurant! Diego's serves South American cuisine in an interesting little building in grass valley. The patio dining area is surrounded by flowers and offers plenty of shade. The interior is filled with interesting paintings and knick knacks. In the night I visited, there was live music as well. Our server was friendly and didn't bat an eye when I butchered the pronunciation of "panqueque". Speaking of panqueque, I tried the Especial which was amazing. It's built like a smothered burrito but with a savory crepe instead of a tortilla.

Such a cute little place--but if you blink you'll miss it, keep your eyes peeled! Awesome patio, friendly and professional service with a huge menu of South American influenced cuisine. Reservations recommended. Parking can be a bit tricky so allow yourself some lead time.

I think this is good thank you

I have give this place several chance since 2018 I will not recommend IT It is not as authentic as they wish it to Be Taste varies too much depending who is in the kitchen Services was not good for us-and we had guest and waited long periods for each dish to come out so much WE never ate together!! Due to this

So happy to have found this place ---was a definite foodie experience . The atmosphere was the epitome of Grass Valley---eclectic, unique and a little boho . The menu has something for everyone, but I have to say that I don't think you can go wrong with anything . The flavors just are bursting with spice and freshness , and I couldn't get enough of the black beans and rice. Be sure to save room for dessert ----amazing and all house made.

It was suggested to try this restaurant for my birthday. We arrived to a beautifully decorated restaurant with lovely lights outside. Initially, we were slightly perplexed about the entrance, but discovered that access was through the patio leading to the main entrance. When we walked in, we saw a lurch type statue and a festive Halloween decorations. I absolutely loved that aspect of the decor. The food options were quite unique and interesting, which we enjoy. My husband decided to order the flat iron steak with vegetables and sweet potato fries. I chose to have steak nachos with guacamole and salsa served separately. We arrived at the establishment within an hour of its closing time, and although we tried to order quickly so as not to inconvenience the staff, I must admit that the lively ambiance did not seem to be fully reflected in their demeanor. We would like to visit again in the future and perhaps dine in the patio area next time.

This was a new thing for me to try I'm used to Mexican flavors.. I tried the pupusas and they were good I'm used to the more common Salvadoran style, but still tasty, I tried one of each. The bean and cheese had more flavor to me than the chicken and cheese.. maybe due to not seeing any chicken in the bites I had. The place was pretty busy and has a nice dining area outside. We also had the BBQ banana split, I didn't get the opportunity to take a picture of it before the hubby started in on it. It was really good and also different from the regular banana split you expect... the caramel was yummy.

The calamari was so rubbery it was inedible. They were charging anyway. They had an attitude and were terribly rude. Finally removed charge.

This is kind of in a sketchy part of town, but worth a visit. We started off with a beef and a chicken empanada to share - These were fried and different than the Spanish ones I have had elsewhere. They were so good. I really liked the green salsa that was paired with it. On the recommendation of the waitress, we both got cafe de ariquipes which were coffees with caramel. They were sweet, but not overly so, which is the way I like it. We also got the bandeja paisa plate that was just ok. We felt the meat was on the dry side but the standouts were the plantains. We also got an order of the cheese arepa and asked for more hot sauce... She hooked it up with their homemade salsa which was so good and fresh tasting. That sauce is so good. All in all, a tasty spot. I'd come back to try some other things.

I had really high hopes for this place But when I first walk in I could notice how the restaurant was filthy, table were stick dirty. And I kept telling my husband we should go. Lola's caught my eye when I was visiting Willie's, a different Sacramento favorite, and their menu…read moredrew me in. You don't see a lot of Puerto Rican centric restaurants in California much less Sacramento so I was excited to try something different. We sampled a smorgasbord of different menu items but the two that really stuck with me and the ones that I will be back for were the Cubano sandwich and the chopped cheese. The beef in the chopped cheese was well seasoned and it felt light but filling at the same time. The tanginess of the pickle in the Cubano really balances out the heavier pork ingredients. The bread was so crunchy I could have made an ASMR video just based on the crunch. Both dishes were common if you are familiar with or spending time in New York, but it's really awesome that there's a place in Sacramento to go when you are craving a chopped cheese or Cubano. The restaurant was clean and the service was top notch. I wish other restaurants would leave a small carafe of soda at the desk so we don't have to ask for refills. There's a lot more of the menu to explore so I think another visit is in my future. I just hope I won't panic and just order the chopped cheese, but that wouldn't be the end of the world.

Yelp Elite Review: A Taste of Home…read more I'm Puerto Rican and Italian, and I grew up with a Puerto Rican grandmother who owned three Puerto Rican restaurants called the Latin Barn back in the day. So when I tell you I know and LOVE Puerto Rican food, I'm not just talking--I've got childhood credentials! I came here with my oldest son and his wife for her birthday, and then something unexpected happened: I started crying. The flavors, aromas, and atmosphere brought a flood of childhood memories rushing back. Food can do that--and this place absolutely nailed it. I ordered the Puerto Rican Special with shredded pork, arroz con gandules, sweet plantains, and beans. AWESOME! I also tried the empanadas with both chicken and beef, and they were incredible. And portions? Let's just say they apparently believed we were feeding the entire extended family. We were given so much food that I had leftovers for the next day--which meant I got to have an encore performance! The Caribbean atmosphere combined with Ashland's unique vibe creates a warm, welcoming place where people actually seem to enjoy being there. The staff was friendly, helpful, and loved to laugh--which is definitely a Puerto Rican thing to do...right after making sure you have nice shoes. The dessert selection was fantastic, too. From the beef stew to the pork, the rice, the plantains, and everything in between, you are going to fall in love with this food. This is officially my new favorite place. And in the immortal words of General MacArthur: "I SHALL RETURN!" Do yourself a favor and put this place on your must-visit list. Come hungry, bring your appetite, and prepare to leave saying, "I'm Puerto Rican!"
