As I walked into the deli, the delicious smoked smells greet you at the door. I ordered the pastrami and smoked pork with bacon on sourdough rolls. Talk about mouth watering and tender. The right about of meat, cheese, and condiments on a freshly baked roll. Just yummy. Also ordered baked beans and macaroni salad. Definitely homemade with quality in mind. This was not store bought and repackaged when ordered. Great complement to the sandwich. The staff were friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have and there were many. Can I do this? I'm not one to typically write bad reviews but this is not okay. Many COVID-19 safety measures were not followed which is unsafe for both the customers and the employees. Not a single employee was wearing gloves, including ones that were handling food, which is a heath code violation and especially dangerous during a pandemic. All employees were working without a face covering as well, which is not a requirement but is still strongly recommended for everyone's safety. I'd love to have supported this small business if they had followed required safety measures. read more

BIG kuddos to Dill's for being able to satisfy 16 of us who stopped by here for lunch on a road trip. They have those slips of paper where you tick off everything you want on your sandwhich, which meant everything was customizable. It's a big deal for 16 different people to all be able to enjoy something at one restaurant. It is a couple blocks off the freeway, but so much better than any fast food you'd get that's just pull off and pull on that it's worth driving those extra blocks. They also have a cool taxidery exhibit that kept us entertained as we all used their ONE bathroom before getting back on the road. read more

Amber helped us order and was really friendly. She also split our order for us. We had more than enough food. We had the 3 meat dinner. We chose ribs, pulled pork and chicken. Our sides were cole slaw and beans. The ribs were incredibly tender. The pulled pork and chicken had lots of flavor and were juicy. Everything we had was homemade, including the sauces. We were passing through town and staying at the Fairfield Suites across the street. We were hungry and tired of driving so gave this place a chance. From the exterior, I was not expecting much and probably wouldn't have gone there if my fiance hadn't pulled me in (it looked kinda dingy). But the sandwiches were freaking amazing and cheap! Great smoky flavors and the staff were experienced and knowledgeable. I would make a trip just to Redding to get another one of these sandwiches. The foods great! You aren't gonna get anything terrible here. What I want to focus on is the amazing customer service. Literally , one of the friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever encountered. I rolled in there disoriented from hunger and they were amazing . I should also mention that is was extremely busy and they were amazingly nice as I stood there bumbling around at the counter. Let me put it like this, It's like going to a family cookout where everyone helps out on the food line and gets along. Is cousin Ray going to show up with that girl and cause problems? Not here. We tried this place due to its high marks and good remarks, but sadly, we did not agree with most of the reviews. Here is my honest personal opinion about this place, based on my own experience: Food: 2/5 - Not worth higher than 2 star. We ordered the french dip, dirty pig, and pulled pork sandwiches. Sadly, none of them tasted anything near what we were expecting. They were all bland and mostly dry. Price: 2/5 - Not too expensive, but for the food we got, definitely not worth it. Service: 3/5 - Slow, way too slow on getting our orders. Ambiance: 5/5 - Place was clean and well lighted. Nice local bbq spot. I had "the kidd" Tri-tip sandwich. I recommend sauce on the side as I went for the bbq sauce rather than spicy ranch. Sandwiches have been consistently great, my favorite so far is the Dirty Bird (in-house smoked chicken, bacon, cheddar and two kinds of BBQ sauce on a sweet french roll). Awsum! Two or three exits north of Redding central, and just around the corner from my hotel in a small strip mall surrounded by virtually nothing is a really good sandwich place. I strongly recommend the "Dirty Pig" sandwich - excellently smoked pork on a really good sourdough roll with plenty of fixins and nicely seasoned. My daughter had the TBA, turkey, bacon, avocado, with lettuce and tomatoes, on sliced sourdough. The sandwiches are huge and you can usually make two meals of one (except that my daughter had played soccer all day and devoured it). She didn't like the bacon so much, but loved the rest of the sandwich once she removed it. We had three sides - potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw - all of which were delicious. Will try the baked beans next time. The other items looked great. The service was friendly and excellent - two young women who were near the end of their shift as I made a last minute order. They were obviously tired, but I received nothing but sincere smiles when I arrived for my order. read more
