Stopped by the area last week on Tuesday. With very limited spots open after 10pm, this was the pick of the night. Was this the best choice ever or what! We were immediately greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered multiple things but honestly I was so focused on eating it all up I forgot to take pictures of everything else lol. Everything was sooo tasty! I managed to take a pic of the beef lo mein we ordered. Customer service was also amazing, very attentive and making sure we were doing fine the entire time. Can't wait to be back to this place!

4 stars. The dumplings were incredibly fresh. I chose the Pork and Chive, they were absolutely delicious. Each order comes with three dumplings. Honestly, I could have kept eating more, but I wanted to save room for a main dish. By the way, they have so many dumpling options. Overall, their menu is impressively extensive with so many appealing choices. I decided on the chicken in garlic sauce, which was flavorful and spicy. The portions are quite generous, enough for leftovers.

Happy that I can get my dim sum and Chinese food fix without having to trek all the way to Chinatown for lunch. The prices are reasonable for the area but pricier than Chinatown. I tried the sweet and sour chicken over rice which is pretty standard. I bought the coconut jelly dessert and my grandma enjoyed it. Starting it's not too sweet. The mini pineapple buns with taro and salted egg was just alright. Not even enough flavor in the filling.

I must admit Dim Sum Palace is a bit pricier than dim sum in Chinatown. They got a lot of dim sum dishes though and the menu shows the pictures in case you are lost at the name of the dim sum. Most of the dishes were around $7 for 2, 3, or 4 pieces of dim sum. I liked how they have durian pastry that came in 3 for $7.95, which is what I got. The durian puffs were very crispy and flaky. There was little durian inside the puff. It was very fresh though. I like how it tasted. It left a stink in my mouth but it was a good kind of stink since it is known as tasty stinky fruit. I got sticky rice with pork & dried baby shrimp in lotus leaf that came in 2 and it was kind of tiny compared to another place I go to. It tasted good though and the sausage inside was a big piece that was very sweet and tasty. Since I wrote a review about this place, I got free sweet sesame ball with lotus seed that came in 3. They were very tasty and semisweet. The sesame seeds gave the balls a good flavor. Since the dim sum dishes were not enough food for lunch I got myself a lunch bowl, soy sauce chicken over rice at $13.25. Kind of pricey. The bowl it came in was reusable though and a good kind of plastic and spacious. The chicken was mostly the leg part and dark meat with some scallions and ginger on it. The boiled egg was alright but was too soft. Did not think it should be that pricey for this chicken bowl. Some part of the menu was hard to understand like the lunch specials. I was guessing on it too hard whether the lunch specials included rice or not. I did not ask though since I settled for the soy sauce chicken. So to this day I don't know if the lunch specials got rice or not. It just said the main dish lunch special includes hot and sour soup or egg drop soup, which is not what I like because of course I need rice with the dish or else it's not comforting. I saw that this Dim Sum Palace was broken in half, one half was the takeout part and the other half was fancy and a dine in place. It was very fancy.

Yesterday's lunch at Dim Sum Palace was disappointing. I had the roast duck over rice. The duck skin was crisp and delicious but there was hardly any meat on the pieces. This seemed a waste of money as I wasn't paying for rice and few greens. I told Khaite (Mark), the server, about my dish. I am not sure if I will have this dish again. I will go for the dim sum.

Fabulous spot! Nice decor & clean. Fresh seafood & fish tank w/ crabs etc. I had the crispy garlic ribs different but tasty, and the crispy garlic shrimp lightly floured. Ohhh, yea & the cilantro pork dumplings. Everything was really good, but I didn't care for the shrimp fried in shell. Nothing I ordered was greasy. After eating I felt fulfilled & not hungry. It was enjoyable, and I'm going back with friends. The price wasn't bad either, especially for that area. A plus, a very clean decorative restroom which says a lot about a restaurant. I recommend, this restaurant.

I ordered from here mid December in the middle of a dim sum super craving. It was freezing out so I ordered wonton soup, garlic chicken wings and shrimp shu mai. Went back to my office to indulge and discovered that they forgot the shu mai. I called up and they were like oops we forgot (so they had never charged me). The lady at the counter is pretty straightforward but not rude so I understood. & I mean no real loss I was just indulging in midday snacks one less one didn't make a difference. The soup was HUGE the wontons were super heathy and I am not supposed to be eating fried foods. You cannot park outside, they have a pick up/ take outside and a sit down to stay side. There were 3 other patrons and many people sitting inside. Prices are to be expected. I love their food.

Stopped by on a late Saturday morning for lunch and had a nice dim sum meal. Ordering was super easy as they give you a menu with photos and you can just write down what you want. We had a variety of dim sum items and enjoyed them all - Shrimp Dumplings, Beef Rice Noodle Roll, Shu Mai, Stuffed Mince Pork Ball, Bean Curd Skin Roll, Scallion Pancake and Pan Fried Turnip Cake. Very attentive and friendly service, nice decor.

I usually go the other location on Division st for consistently great food but since it was freezing and this location is a 5 minute walk from me, decided to come here. We ordered the Peking Duck dish and came with 10 pancakes. It was pretty decent. Only gripe was the salt and pepper deep fried silver fish dish did not come with a whole lot of whole fishies. If you've never had silver fish, you wont know what I am talking about. Most were heavily coated deep fried fish filets. Lobster was just alright as with the other dishes. Service is good.

I had lunch to commemorate National Noodle Day back in October. I was seated quickly. Overall ambiance was a blend of American and family style Chinese restaurant vibe. It was packed for lunch. I ordered the soup dumplings and noodle soup with roasted duck. The roast duck noodle soup hit the spot. The black truffle soup dumplings were OK, definitely not comparable as the ones I had in Elmhurst. I'd go back again for lunch but that has to be planned out and happy hour.

My dad and I ate here for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed it. We were happy there was no line and we were able to get seated immediately. Inside there is a large bar with lots of alcohol offerings, fish tanks filled with crabs, eels and fish, and table and booth seating were available. We didn't have much interaction with our server, but that has been my experience at most dim sum places in the city. We ordered off the dim sum menu, using a pen to indicate our choices, and our food arrived quickly, steaming hot. My favorite were the Black Truffle Shrimp Dumplings, which were flavorful, chewy and delicious. I also enjoyed the beef tripe. the shredded roast duck dumplings and shrimp dumplings were pretty good, as well as these fried crispy rolls filled with shrimp and served with mayonnaise, but they fried rolls were on the greasier side. I wish they had more congee options on the menu as I'm not a huge fan of thousand year egg, and honestly, more options overall would have been great, but I think the menu changes, so it could be worth trying one of their other locations or coming back in a few months. What we ordered was plenty for two of us and that food brought us back to life! I think one of the best aspects of this spot is that it seems pretty authentic, despite being in FiDi, and is open very late, so one craving dim sum in the area doesn't need to trek to Chinatown for some tasty dim sum.

Great VIP rooms with karaoke. $500 minimum. Loved the Peking duck and really loved the black bean chicken. Clean restaurant with really good Chinese food. Well done.

We wandered over here after visiting the Empire State Building; it was only a five minute walk away! We went after watching the sunset, so around 8-ish, and were pleasantly surprised we didn't have to wait for a table. The atmosphere was bright and lively, but not too much to bring our seven-year-old. We ordered: PORK DUMPLINGS-- best thing we ordered. My. Goodness. The broth was perfectly seasoned and silky. Was always a little sad after the last bit of soup from each dumpling was slurped. ;) Meat inside was tender and flavorful and the wrapper wasn't too thin or thick. Just the right thickness to keep the soup inside until you were ready, but not so thick that it was too chewy or distracting from the contents. Also ordered, the SPICY BEEF DUMPLINGS as recommended by our server. They were yummy. Tasty soup and beef had a deeper flavor. Not too spicy. Next time, we will probably just order extra pork dumplings or try something new. We ordered the SCALLION PANCAKES. I prefer my scallion pancakes thinner. These were a lot like the thickness of a dense pita. Still enjoyed them-- still a nice texture that was both soft and crispy, perfectly greasy, and flavorful. CRISPY CHILI CHICKEN (or something like that) was good but nothing special. Had some heat but not too spicy. CUCUMBER SALAD-- was a nice cold addition to the meal. Loved the sesame oil, just wish there was more, as well as more flavor. We ended up pouring a little soy sauce on top and that helped. I thought it was nice to chase a bite of crispy chili chicken with a bite of cucumber. WHITE RICE-- we ordered three orders of rice that was perfectly prepared, but way too much for three adults. Not complaining, but each bowl would have probably been enough for two adults. Can't wait to return!

Our nits: one of the items we ordered got lost somehow, though they never admitted it; we had to keep asking for the item, and it finally came after we had finished all of our other items. There was no apology or offer to give us a discount for their misstep. Also, when we showed up for dinner there was a 30 minute wait and one had to stand in the hallway during that wait. Next time we'll swing by earlier to get the check-in code to find out how long the wait is in advance. The good news is that our first three items came out pretty quickly after ordering; and the place is very fast with the turnover.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

I won't point out any particular dish as being awful or exceptional, because that's the problem I have with this place overall. Nothing stands out in any sort of way. Everything here kind of just tastes the same, which bothers me because the flavor profile of these dishes should all be tasting vastly different. Most of the dishes carry this overwhelmingly strong oil taste, especially in their fried meats, that kind of just makes them all taste kind of mediocre. The typical Dim Sum dishes, while serviceable, just kind of feels rushed flavor wise with little care put into them, leading them to taste kind of like nothing. The only dish that I would actively order is their noodle, which carries a more distinct light yet rich flavor that complements their noodles, but even then I feel as though the meat and egg feel like afterthoughts in the dish that don't really add to it in any way. The last problem I have with this place is their sauce station, which though kind of them to offer quite a few sauces to add to your dim sum, is just a really messy and unsanitary area which threw off my meal. I wanted to like this place, given that I love eating dim sum, but this wasn't it for me.
