S1. Stew Beef

My friend and I work not too far from Silky Kitchen and we were looking for a place to eat. The reviews seemed promising so we decided to try it. The employee gave us suggestions--my friend decided to get the Hunan beef (medium spice) with rice and I went the stewed beef (medium spice) with rice. The food comes with bok choy which were a vibrant green color. The restaurant has some tables and barstools. My friend enjoyed her meal, and she's really picky/critical over food. I too enjoyed my meal. It was enough for leftovers. I will keep Silky Kitchen in my list of places to eat for lunch.

Decent noodle soup with pork and pepper. It was served hot. They have all the utensils you need to eat it. The broth was flavorful. It was OK. I don't think I'm itching to go back.

Did not see this until today when I was deciding on what to get for lunch. I passed this and was like why not? I went inside and there was a self checkout kiosk, which is how I like to place my orders these days. There were so many soup noodle options on the menu and it was just very hard to choose one. The dishes were somewhat pricey though but after I got my pork and pepper noodle bowl, I did not regret at all. Noodles were silky and slippery when I put them in my mouth. I thought the pork and pepper soup bowl was alright because they gave a lot of jalapeños and red peppers. It was tons of it including a lot of celery. I chose mildly spicy and it was still somewhat spicy that made my nose run and cough. I love that Silky Kitchen has their own labeled and customized branding of utensils and bowls. Everything is stamped with Silky Kitchen brand and they have a reusable tote bag with a sticker on top of the bag to seal it closed. Maybe that's why this branding contributes to the pricey dishes.

S11. Hunan Style Sauteed Beef Dry Noodle

Unfortunately for the price, Silky Kitchen doesn't quite deliver on value and taste. Each noodle dish is about $15-$20, which is not outrageous for the area, but ultimately still pricy for what it is. The restaurant is quite small, and there is seating available inside. I opted for my order to go because it was very smoky inside - to a point where most others had to wait outside for their orders too. I ordered the hunan style beef over dry noodles, medium spicy. The staff was kind to provide a warning that medium spicy is still pretty spicy. It definitely had a kick to it - nothing unbearable. Portions are thankfully decent, but there was nothing to really justify a $20 lunch order. The noodles are like rice noodle - it's silky, but doesn't quite soak up the sauces as well as I would've hoped. It does smell & look great though. I did enjoy the cumin flavor and spicy kick here and there, but the overall dish was underwhelming. Might return to try one of their noodle soups to give it a fair chance, but I'd pass on the dry noodle again.

This is a great stop between the World Trade Center to the ferry stop. Super quick, in&out within 30-40ish minutes. The ambiance is a small mom & pop kind of shop, has a decent amount of seating, the tables & floors are pretty well maintained & cleaned too. Ordered two mild beef noodle soups & the 6 beef & celery dumplings. Pretty decent portions & quality is pretty decent too, I would come back if I needed a quick place to eat. This place did not even ask for a tip and this was the first place I've been to where it didn't ask so YAY

We found this place halfway walking between the WTC and Pier 11. Delicious food, we got 2 beef noodle soups and the pork dumplings to share. A perfect amount of food for 2 people. Staff was friendly and you can either order with them or at the kiosk on the side.

Okay food, kinda overpriced. Played $18 for beef stew w noodles. The noodles didn't absorb any flavor and there was way too much chili oil in top that for the first three bites I basically just ate oil. The beef was pretty delicious. I'm pretty sure they take different parts of the beef so I got a solid variety of fatty meat vs tough meat etc.

Hunan Fried Tofu

A nice little hole-in-the-wall by all the offices. Food seems made fresh-to-order, which is a great treat. Loved that the flavors weren't dumbed down. Pork & Picked Mustard Greens w/ Dry Noodles (Spicy): They actually delivered on the spicy! Such a nice kick to liven up an otherwise boring Monday. The noodles were thick and chewy. The pork was nicely marinated and firm. The mustard greens were a big enough portion to add flavor contrast, but not dominate. Hunan Fried Tofu: It was alright, but probably not worth the price. A few pieces for fried tofu that were already not crispy by the time I got back to the office. Minimal flavoring.

I stopped by Silky Kitchen near the World Trade Center after seeing it mentioned a lot online. I ordered the pork liver rice noodles and the cured pork version. The cured pork was surprisingly good--flavorful and smoky! The pork liver, however, was sliced very thin and came out a bit dry. Personally, I prefer a thicker cut for a more tender bite. Also, the overall seasoning was a little on the salty side.

If I were only grading it based on aesthetics, maybe I'd give it 5 stars. Everyone's complaints about the price are valid, and Xian famous noodles are only a couple blocks from here. The to go bag is excessive. The included utensils are very fancy. Even has a toothpick inside! Probably worth $3.50 on its own. I ordered the #2 pork soup noodles, regular spicy. It's actually very spicy. Xian is more like spicy, numbing, and sour ( mala plus vinegar probably). The green peppers here really have a kick. The pork cubes are big, but not super tender. Very chewy. The average price is around 17-18 and with tax it's closer to $20.

I do take out for lunch. Very quick service. Usually within 5-10mins I'll get my food. I like it comes with green vegetables. It's a balanced meal for me.

Don't let this small joint fool you - the food here is excellent! The place doesn't have much seating (max 20 seats), it's minimalistic, and clean. I was food hopping with friends so we didn't order much - we ordered the beef+daikon dumplings and the chicken chilli dry noodles. Both were fantastic. The dumplings were juicy and flavorful. The chicken chilli we ordered medium spice - the server was honest when he said medium is spicy - it is - but worth it! That item comes as a soup noodle or dry noodle - the dry version is what we got and was so fresh and flavorful. The portion was also big enough that I could see myself eating it for two meals if I ordered it by myself.

Stewed Beef Noodle Soup

Delicious noodle spot right by Union square! Was craving some beef noodle soup and got their Stewed Beef Noodle Soup to-go and it perfectly hit the spot. Food came out quickly (under 5 min). I like how they separated the soup from the noodles for takeout orders to prevent the noodles getting soggy- a nice touch. The actual food was delicious- not too salty and the beef is perfectly(!) cooked with lots of rice noodles. Would've liked more bok choy though/slightly larger portion especially given the soup being on the pricier side (~$17) for casual Chinese takeout.

The beef soup is clear and light and the noodles have a delightful texture, with a slight chew and good bounce. There's a good portion of braised beef as well. Tender but a bit fatty for my taste, but given the portion it's not going to kill you. Lamb burger ended up as overkill and will be consumed as leftovers but a quick sampling let me know that it's gamey and fatty with strong notes of cumin. Not a bad thing, but something to note for people that might not generally enjoy lamb or cumin. Black pepper beef rice bowl was solid too. Spice wise, you can calibrate accordingly but I'd recommended at least their regular spice level. Decent amount of tenderized but still chewy beef. Both dishes came with a salad of celery, carrot, cucumber, peanuts and seaweed strips in a light sauce. Couldn't quite figure out the sauce but it was lightly tart and refreshing. Space is clean and modern. Neutral wood, well lit. Service is friendly enough. If you dine in, you order at the kiosk and they'll deliver to your table. We had leftovers that they graciously packed up. Solid choice. I hope they stick around as they do bring a different cuisine to the area.

OMG-I just enjoyed one of the most delicious and flavorful Ahi Tuna Poke Bowls EVER!!! Run, don't…read morewalk to try this! It was so delicious. See my photos. The Ahi Tuna was the perfect and proper color it should be. The flavors were SPECTACULAR-WONDERFUL!!! NOTE: WAGAMAMA has added to their menu, since my last visit, so you now have a RAMEN SELECTION, and other yummy additions. I was too full from my spectacular Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl to try the Korean bbq Chicken Wings ($8.95) but, I will definitely be back to try them!! I'll post menu photos so you have an idea of the delicious food choices. (April 2026) My very first delicious bite of Ahi Tuna had a heavenly garlic flavor, it was wonderful, and the sweet green seaweed with rice only added to the wonderfulness. Vertical slices of cucumber, onion and scallion, also add deliciously to my wonderful Poke Bowl. Toasted sesame seeds, too. SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!! Remember to be sure to mix the poke bowl rice as you eat, so that you mix the rice with the yummy sauce that may accumulate at the bottom of the poke bowl. I usually eat a little while, THEN, mix the rice. This was so good, I had to eat, eat, eat, before I could stop to mix. LOL. That sweet green seaweed was so yummy!! A lovely mix of flavors...the garlic, the sweetness....I LOVED IT ALL SO MUCH!!!! When was the last time you enjoyed a dish so very much that you felt like standing up in the restaurant and telling everyone: THIS IS SOOO DELICIOUS!!!! Well, I felt like that, but I didn't stand up and tell everyone, but I did tell the manager, who happen to come to the table to ask how everything was. And I let him know how much I was enjoying the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. He explained why and how the tuna was so flavorful. We had a delightful brief foodie chat. What a joy!! The service is very nice here. I like the atmosphere too. And the music, which is cool; it does not interfere with thinking, or having a conversation. I really like it here . The women's rest room was very nice, and clean, with a Dyson Hand Dryer, so no paper towels on the floor. Yay! Helping our environment, too!! And I like the black and white wall paper, too. See my photos My last visit I enjoyed the Pad Thai, and the same non-alcoholic beverage, " Asian Mint Limeade", from the MINDFUL DRINKS area on the beverage menu. ($9.50) (April 2026). A nice treat! It does have a light carbonation (bubbles). This visit my delicious meal was from the BOWLS SECTION of the food menu, it was the AHI TUNA POKE BOWL ($17.95) (April 2026) With warm, and hot weather on the way, I know I will be enjoying this AHI TUNA POKE BOWL again...and again! If you love good food, good service, and a very cool environment, put this location of WAGAMAMA on your list ! (East side) LOCATED On THIRD AVE, at East 39th Street. There is OUTDOOR SEATING, too, with red umbrellas. See my photos. Enjoy yourself here. Totally delightful. There are several locations in Manhattan. I did not know that. So, the one I have dined at is ON THIRD AVENUE, at EAST 39th Street. Look for the Red Umbrellas outside, at the corner of East 39th Street and Third Avenue. Enjoy!!!
