I was actually there for the happy hour special. I got the value one for $23 which is one app + one main + one drink. I wound up getting the shrimp dumplings (6 in an order) + pork and preserved mustard veg over rice noodle + a soda can and wound up saving $5. There is also a premium $26 special which allows you to get higher priced items. Portion size was fair to good esp on the main. They ask what kind of spicy and I said medium and that was spicy enough for me. No bathroom. They charge tax. Ample seating and sauces available. It ended up to be a chill afternoon with rain and so I decided to look for noodle soup which is comfort in this weather. We came across this new place and decided to try. Upon entry, it looks humble and clean. The young guy greeted us to take our order at the counter. Looking at the recommended dishes we decided on beef stew noodle soup. The price I'd on the higher end since it's in Financial district. We ordered, paid and sat and wait. The service was quick and within a few minutes our food were brought to us. It looked good. Did not see this until today when I was deciding on what to get for lunch. I passed this and was like why not? I went inside and there was a self checkout kiosk, which is how I like to place my orders these days. There were so many soup noodle options on the menu and it was just very hard to choose one. The dishes were somewhat pricey though but after I got my pork and pepper noodle bowl, I did not regret at all. Noodles were silky and slippery when I put them in my mouth. I thought the pork and pepper soup bowl was alright because they gave a lot of jalapeños and red peppers. It was tons of it including a lot of celery. I chose mildly spicy and it was still somewhat spicy that made my nose run and cough. I love that Silky Kitchen has their own labeled and customized branding of utensils and bowls. Everything is stamped with Silky Kitchen brand and they have a reusable tote bag with a sticker on top of the bag to seal it closed. Unfortunately for the price, Silky Kitchen doesn't quite deliver on value and taste. Each noodle dish is about $15-$20, which is not outrageous for the area, but ultimately still pricy for what it is. The restaurant is quite small, and there is seating available inside. I opted for my order to go because it was very smoky inside - to a point where most others had to wait outside for their orders too. I ordered the hunan style beef over dry noodles, medium spicy. The staff was kind to provide a warning that medium spicy is still pretty spicy. It definitely had a kick to it - nothing unbearable. Portions are thankfully decent, but there was nothing to really justify a $20 lunch order. The noodles are like rice noodle - it's silky, but doesn't quite soak up the sauces as well as I would've hoped. It does smell & look great though. I did enjoy the cumin flavor and spicy kick here and there, but the overall dish was underwhelming. This is a great stop between the World Trade Center to the ferry stop. Super quick, in&out within 30-40ish minutes. The ambiance is a small mom & pop kind of shop, has a decent amount of seating, the tables & floors are pretty well maintained & cleaned too. The to go bag is excessive. The included utensils are very fancy. Even has a toothpick inside! Probably worth $3.50 on its own. I ordered the #2 pork soup noodles, regular spicy. It's actually very spicy. Xian is more like spicy, numbing, and sour ( mala plus vinegar probably). The green peppers here really have a kick. The pork cubes are big, but not super tender. I was food hopping with friends so we didn't order much - we ordered the beef+daikon dumplings and the chicken chilli dry noodles. Both were fantastic. The dumplings were juicy and flavorful. The chicken chilli we ordered medium spice - the server was honest when he said medium is spicy - it is - but worth it! Medium spicy was plenty spice for me but I added in some more chili oil. Minus a star for the single use plastics. I ordered the chairman Mao's braised pork. The ends of each pork piece were too dry and on the hard side. I think when something's been braised, they do a large pot of it, so they can reheat a small amount for each dish that's being served. In a sense, the pork then becomes overcooked. Very authentic hunan food and they do not come to play with the spice. We got the Hunan Fried Tofu as an appetizer which was by far my favorite bc it took me right back to China. For mains we got Hot & Sour Chicken Gizzard with noodles and Pork Liver With Pepper with rice - I am a noodle person so I liked the noodle dish more but the noodle type they give is on the thinner side, not chewy so it wasn't amazing to me but the chicken gizzard itself was great (just warning that there are a ton of peppers in every dish!).
