I haven't walked this neighborhood in several years and I happened upon this establishment. The employees are courteous and friendly. Being that it's a deli I was under the impression that we could come up with our own sandwiches. I wanted basic ham and cheese or club but was told I could only order the sandwiches on the menu with few choices and make proper adjustments. The server who helped me recommended their Cuban as being the closest of what I wanted. I'm not the biggest fan of Cubans but the way it was presented I thought I'd give it a try. It was edible. I got the steak and cheese sandwich with a side of pasta salad. I loved the pasta salad, I thought it was well balanced with the dill flavor and not too tangy. I wish I got the orecchiette pasta that I've seen in other reviews, the shells in this were just a tad too hard for my preference. The steak and cheese sandwich was good. The steak was cooked nicely and the bread was crispy and had amazing flavor (I would buy loafs of that bread if it was for sale)! My only critique is that I could not taste the chimichurri or the mushroom duxelle. What the F***!!! How is this cheesesteak this good I'm a born and raised east coaster so anytime I see someone try to fix something that isn't broken like a cheesesteak it sort of gets to me. I was on the fence considering this one was far from a traditional cheesesteak you'd see at a local spot in Philly with Oaxacan Melted cheese and a chimichurri but that's not to say I didn't take the jump. I had the lifesaver cocktail with gin and it was fresh, fizzy and easy to drink. You can choose your spirit with this drink and this is an elevated take on a gin and tonic (in my opinion). For food we split the Lamb Kebab Dimebowl, which comes with two lamb skewers, potatoes, cucumber, pickled onions, olives, tomato, raita and harissa sauces and homemade bread. We opted to add two additional kebabs so it was more filling. All of the flavors worked well together and I would have licked the bowl if not for being an adult and sharing with another person. The sandwiches other patrons ordered looked amazing and I have to come back for those to eat in (or take out). Great decor and there is seating inside and out. Stopped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon and ordered to go. Ended up chatting with the bartender Ellie and had to try their "Mule it Over" while my chicken parm was being made for takeaway. I was so excited to try the Kalua Cubano, but it was a pretty big giant down. There was maybe one slice of ham and a small amount of pork in just mostly one half of my roll. There was no pineapple. I thought maybe the dimeroll came from another region, but it's actually just the brilliance of the owner when he noticed the insides of the sandwiches he was testing to put on the menu kept falling out. His solution was to roll the focaccia bread out to make it thin, and then wrap it all up together. The results are delicious and genius! It looked like a square sandwich bread, sides cut off, and then toasted. Not complaining, I loved it. My boyfriend liked his sandwich, but it was a bit too heavy for him. It's like a foot long steak and cheese. I took a bite, it was really good but I'd have to agree that it was a bit heavy. I wouldn't have been able to finish half of that. With her testimonial and these amazing reviews, my husband and I decided to go for lunch later that week. My husband got the meatloaf dimeroll with housemade kettle chips and I got the roast beef dimeroll with pasta salad. We enjoyed both the kettle chips and pasta salad as they were very fresh, great texture, and not too saucy or salty. We were less impressed with the sandwiches as we felt like the sandwiches both had too much going on in them, and ended up being way too salty due to how thin the bread was. Let's talk about the bread - maybe it's a personal preference to have extremely thin bread with tons of filling? But my idea of a great sandwich also hinges on the bread being great, instead of it being treated only as a vessel to hold together the meat and toppings. That's what these dimeroll sandwiches felt like - the texture was like simple white bread flattened and then used to roll together all the sandwich fixings. Another thing that threw me off was that the menu indicates focaccia, when it was barely thicker than a tortilla. The restaurant was overall cute and had a full bar too.
