One of my favorite hidden gems in the Dimond! I have visited this cafe a few times during my lunch break and haven't been disappointed yet. The cashiers are very knowledgeable when asked about menu items and give great suggestions. It's clean (major +) for me. So far I've had the spicy chicken burger and the regular cheese burger. I keep going back to the cheese burgers because it's amaze balls. Pro tip: DONT HESITATE, get the garlic fries! The best I've ever had. Prices aren't too steep. It's about $10 for a burger and fries. Yes - the burgers are greasy. But that's when you know it's legit delicious right?! One of these days I'll have to come in for breakfast... Keep it up Paul, Angel and crew! read more

By far my favorite latte in the city--creamy, even with non-fat milk, perfect temperature and smooth, smooth, smooth. I have tried to help my wallet out by drinking coffee instead of lattes, but Dimond Cafe has made that hard for me. Just too good to pass up. Ate here for the first time, the staff is nice, but I ordered a Cesar chicken salad and my friend ordered a sandwich. There was 2 other people in the cafe and 20 minutes went by still no food, so my friend went up to see why it's taking so kind then another 8 minutes ever by finally served. After reading all the great yelp reviews, I was excited to try this little spot. It's just a few blocks from my house, so I really wanted to like this place. Sadly, I had a very poor experience. I came with my wife and 2 year old son, and we ordered a breakfast sandwich and a breakfast burrito. There were only two other customers in the cafe at the time. The cashier was friendly, and we paid and sat down. A few more people came in, and she took their orders too. Then thirteen teenagers came in and things went downhill fast. The kids thought it was funny to ring the service bell over and over again. The cashier asked them several times to stop, but they just ignored her and kept banging away at it. They also thought it would be funny to flash the lights on and off, and get into shoving matches that ended with them smashing into tables. Delightful. At this point the cashier starts complaining that she is all alone, and that the owner left her at this busy time to go do something "like he always does". It's been about twenty minutes with no sign of our order, my kid is getting hungry and fussy, and I'm really out of patience with all the bell ringing, shoving, and light flashing. It's at this point I realise she is serving all the teenagers first and hasn't even started on our meals. I ask her how much longer it will be, and she says "soon", but that she need to serve the kids first because "they have to catch a bus to school". So because these extremely rude teenagers couldn't be bothered to get here earlier, my entire family gets gets to wait? Our time is less important then theirs? She could have asked if I minded, asked if I was in a hurry too, or even just warned me that she was going to serve everyone else before us so I could have gone somewhere else. But no, she just makes us wait and doesn't tell us she hasn't even started on our food. Thirty minutes later she finally STARTED working on our food when all the kids left. She clearly rushed it, as my wife's breakfast potatoes and burrito was cold, and my sandwich was dry and flavorless. She offered no apologies, just complained over and over again how hard it was for her as the boss left her alone again. Sorry, but if the boss doesn't want to pay for help during the rush, or at least be there himself, don't put it on the customer! Unless you love insanely long waits, obnoxious teenagers, and below average food, save yourself some trouble and stay away from this place! read more

I was let down, according to the reviews I thought I was going to get a more flavorful experience. Service was nice and the salsa the offer with the loaded potatoes was very good. The actual food though lacked so much flavor even salt and pepper couldn't save them. Tried the MacArthur omelet, it was blah and the loaded potatoes blah my kids both got the 2 egg 2 bacon toast and potato plate. We added 1 side of sausage and 2 sides of bacon (very skimpy btw) 1 coke and one sparking guava drink total was $55 not including tip. All I have to say was thank god for the salsa me and the man used 4 to flavor our meal and the kids were happy with their bland food...so that's always good. read more

Went there today during my lunch with 5 of my co workers. The lady took 5 of their orders first because they went before us. Myself and my other co worker went in we ordered our food and payed with card. This was at 1:20. At 1:45 we still did not receive our food. My co worker went and asked what the wait time will be and she said it was done and gave my 4 co workers their food. Myself and co worker went and asked about our food and she said she lost our order and asked if we wanted to wait or our money back. Poorest customer service. We were over an hour late to work because she decided to lose our order. So pissed off. Never going back again. read more

Delicious, casual breakfast place that I never knew existed. Service was quick and friendly (you order at the register) but the best part was the elegant omelettes. They taste fresh, the avocado was perfect, and the veggies were plentiful. The fruit bowl was good too, something that other breakfast places in Oakland give little thought to. This place is a cute little cafe kind of tucked away on Fruitvale. I worked near there so we would go down to that area for lunch often, and I didn't even know it was there until my coworker told me about it. This place is a gem! It's located in the heart of the Dimond, just a block from my apartment complex. They remember your name and frequent orders, they are quick to take and crank out your order, and the food is bomb. The cheeseburgers (homemade bun!) and garlic fries are amazing, the breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches (especially on the homemade bun, OMG) are SO good, and the loaded potato dish I tried last weekend was absolutely delicious, though a little on the expensive side. I come here all the time because the owners & employees are sincerely great people that take pride in their business and the food never disappoints... This is a great family business a little 'hidden in plain view' in the Dimond -- don't be fooled by the somewhat nondescript exterior though, because the fool is fresh and yummy, the service is super friendly, and Paul the owner is an all-around good guy. I like this place. Plenty of seats, very friendly and accommodating service and the food is good. I had a breakfast burrito and it tasted quite fresh, which is always important. I actually don't like potatoes(haha, I'm from Idaho too...what's wrong with me) and the burrito had a little too many home fries for my taste, but to each his own.
