I've been to this place twice. They have a funky animatronic noodle thing in front and for some reason there isn't an image of their menu outside the restaurant but part of this might be growing pains as they opened rather recently. The first time I went here was when they had been open for just a week or two and they have since expanded the menu. The first time I ordered two dishes off of their dim sum section with one of my choices not being available that afternoon and the other time I got noodles. My first order was the Fried tiny buns/Shen jian bao aka pan-fried pork buns. These came with four small ones to the order which was a bit different than other places. While the pork had good flavor, I prefer a larger one as the dough will have a nicer chewy texture. Still tasty and it went well with the sauce. I also had the Soup dumplings/Xiao long bao which were also fine. The wrapping was nice and thin and the pork inside was yet again tasty but the soup was a little bit too light for my liking. Overall both were fine. The other time I had the cumin lamb noodles with kudai noodles. Kudai/裤带面 or belt noodles are essentially biang biang noodles and they were nice and bouncy. The lamb was well flavored with my only complaint being that there wasn't enough cumin and it wasn't spicy enough for my liking. Still very tasty with a nice big portion. Overall the food here is tasty. If this was a place in some other parts of Brooklyn or in parts of Queens/Manhattan with a larger Chinese population and more noodles/dim sum, I probably would give them a 3 but as the area is lacking, I'll bump it up a bit. Stumbled upon this place after getting turned away by a couple of other places that closed at 9pm. Din still had an hour to go and the friendly service team talked us into trying 2 more specials after we already stuffed ourselves. The xlb skin was not paper thin (my preference even though I end up tearing them upon lift off), but was a happy middle of "thin enough" and not breaking when you lift it out of the steamer. Overall everything was flavorful enough to bring us back to try the other stuff. Bathroom was clean. read more

Came here for the lunch special that didn't disappoint. Shared soup dumplings and scallion pancakes and both were tasty. Delish soup dumpings with plenty of broth, I don't need to go to Joe's Shanghai in NY anymore. I also like the truffle dumplings, gave a nice truffle flavor that kicks it up a notch. The XLBs here nail the perfect meat to bun/dough ratio as well. These XLBs are LARGE, perfectly fit in one whole big bite for me. Food is good, with a menu of staple items that please eastern and western palates. Menu is bilingual, with pictures and a lunch special section. The ha gow shrimp dumplings 虾饺 are good, with skins a little thicker than the dim sum houses, but accurate on freshness and texture. The ham sui gok 咸水角 were crunchy chewy savory fried mochi goodness, although a little skimpy on filling. We also got the peanut sesame mochi (messy, very light, and tasty). They also have noodles, scallion pancake rolls, several spicy dishes, plenty of vegetarian options, and bubble tea. Service is good, note that they have QR codes on the table so you can have a conversation free interaction. But they do have good English skills if you need guidance on the menu. Food delivery is prompt, dishes are hot/crunchy as they should be, and things are cleared quickly. They have high chairs A few cons include that it is not an ADA accessible restaurant, as it's up a half set of curved iron stairs that are tough on the strollers, walkers, or wheelchairs. It's Brooklyn Heights expensive, with dishes marked up 50% from your hole in the wall in Manhattan Chinatown that doesn't speak English. They charge you for tea. Tables are high and plates aren't level - I kept dropping my chopsticks as they didn't sit well on the dishes. These are cons are minor and the location and decor suit the price point, but they won't impress your judgey mother in law. read more

Dishes we had: - Wild Mushroom Bao: $11, not on the printed menu, but available upon request and via online ordering. These buns beautifully replicate shiitake mushrooms in appearance, and contain finely diced shiitake, tree ears, and carrots, among other ingredients. The dish comes with a dipping sauce that complements the umami flavors in the baos. - Fried Tiny Buns with Pork / Fried Tiny Buns with Beef: $8.50 for four. These are similar to "Pan Fried Pork Buns", except they exchange bread for a thick dumpling wrapper. The dumpling skin keeps the soup inside better than bao bread, which tends to absorb the soup. Ours had a perfect bottom sear. - Crab and Pork Soup Dumplings: $11. These xiǎolóngbāo were filled with an above average amount of soup -- the dumplings sagged when lifted. - Truffle & Pork Soup Dumplings: $15. Impressive. These dumplings are quite flavorful, due to good amounts of truffle shavings on the dumpling crown and inside the dumpling on the pork. We think the soup dumplings here are better than those at Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao in Downtown Flushing, Queens. - Chicken & Cabbage Dumplings: $10. Clean, plain flavors. - Spicy Cumin Lamb Fried Noodles: $14.75. Din offers a choice between broad (what we chose) or thick noodles. There is a hint of heat balanced by salty, sweet, and sour flavors. The lamb was thinly sliced, and a bit tough and chewy. - Iced Coffee: $4.75. I think Din uses an instant coffee mix. - Ham Sui Gok (咸水角; Fried Glutinous Rice Dumplings): $7 for two. Din gets this deep-fried dumpling wrapper right -- slightly elastic and chewy; but there could be more filling inside. The Fried Tiny Buns are a better value. Logistics & Other: - Keep the bamboo steamer lids when steamed dishes are brought to your table. Keeping your food covered helps retain heat and moisture. Let me start with I have not been able to stop thinking about this delicious place. First their lunch special is amazing and I ordered two lunch specials. I also ordered two other items but the stars of the meal were the pork soup dumplings. Also the service was good and the people were very friendly and patient because I was unsure of what to order. The pork soup dumplings were so delicious the right amount of soup, flavorful and the perfect amount of thickness in the dumplings. The scallion pancakes for me were a bit oily and crispy, so I asked them to make them softer and they did. They also have a delicious sauce which I have never had for the pork soup dumplings. It is the perfect place for lunch, they have nice decorations and a lot of lighting. I went alone and I enjoyed it, they gave people making dumplings right there in front of you.
