My friends recommended this place, so I was excited to try it. The steamed pork (Bossam) was a bit dry for my taste, but the spicy Jokbal was actually pretty good. We ordered the mild level and it was perfectly balanced, not too spicy at all. I also recommend their steamed egg, it was super fluffy and light. The rice ball was pretty good too.

My wife and mother in law was feeling a bit under the weather after a bridal shower so we're in the area and I found this place on Yelp. There's ample of parking as it's in a shopping plaza. We were able to park right in the front. When we got there around 5:30pm Saturday, there were only a couple other tables so we were seated right away. But as time elapsed, more people showed and it started to get packed but it's a fairly big restaurant so there's enough tables to accommodate. We ordered the ginseng chicken soup w medicinal herbs and ginseng chicken and abalone porridge. They both felt the flavor was blend and lacking and ended up taking both entrees to go so they can make it better at home. My wife did ask about the chicken whether it was tender or dry and she felt the chicken was tender. The waitress did not bring the side dishes until the food arrived which we thought was odd considering all of the other Korean restaurants we've been to always bring it way before your main dish arrives but my wife and mother in law did not like any of them as they felt they were too salty. Overall: the food was blend in a healthy way but if you want it tasty then this is def not the spot. We did see majority of the people ordering pork and chicken feet. As non-Koreans, we're not familiar with those dishes and they did not recommend or explain the menu at all.

Came here numerous times, but most recently May 2023. Food: Authentic Korean food. 90% of the customers are Korean immigrants. Speciality is in Korean pork dishes (braised, steamed), and other braised fish. Lots of good stews as well. Service: If you don't speak Korean, just point to what you want on the menu or say it in English. Other than that, waitresses are friendly and motherly. Ambiance: Not a date spot, not a high-end spot. Just real, hearty, authentic Korean food.

Stumbled upon this cute little Korean restaurant and I'm so glad we decided to eat here. OC has so much good Korean food and this place is definitely a hidden gem! The portions are massive, the kimchi is fresh, the ahjummas are adorable. For the quality of food, I think the prices are very reasonable. I've always heard about all the benefits of ginseng and I finally got to try it here ! My bf also really liked his grilled octopus fried rice and soybean paste stew. I'll be back :)

Large bossahm and all the fixings.

Pretty solid bo-ssahm. Got the large size and it will feed at least 3 people. The ssahm-jahng was really good too. I'm not a fan of oysters in my kimchi so I didn't eat any of it that came with the pork belly. I got my order to go and everything was packed nicely and neatly. Plenty of side dishes to eat with your food. The ladies who work there were really nice as well.

Dine was so good. I came with some friends and ordered a bunch of things on their menu. We ordered gamjatang, sliced smoked duck, steamed egg, seafood pancake, dolsot bibimbap, and their bossam. Everything was so good and seasoned very well. We came here randomly because we were craving Korean food but definitely satisfied our cravings. I don't really eat duck but their sliced smoked duck was so yummy. Their side dishes were also delicious. I highly recommend this Korean restaurant!!

This is definitely my 'healing soul' place. Everything here's pretty good, and still my fav is Sam-Gye-Tang. Tried their 'Gal-Bi-Tang', and everyone agreed there's better Gal-Bi-Tangs out there.

This place is good-- nothing over the top but nothing bad either it was just good, they don't really have a specialty in my opinion and it's just overall good Korean food. We went during a very slow time, it was around 4PM so it's right between being late lunch or very early dinner. The lady was busy doing multiple things by herself so we were waiting but even after we flagged her, she seemed to be busy in the kitchen and on the phone ... We were contemplating whether to leave or not because we were just sitting there... When entering the restaurant, on their door they advertise that they specialize in "jechup" clams from a specific area in South Korea. So automatically I thought that would be their specialty but further looking through the menu we quickly realized that ... there were MANY specialties at this restaurant and that isn't BAD-- they are just good at everything. We ordered COMBO 2 - Medium smoked duck plate+ Braised pork belly + soybean soup + steamed egg ($95) everything was decent. Nothing stood out to be bad but nothing stood out to be great. Good food. I ordered the clam stone pot bibimbap and side of clam soup - I wasn't sure it was worth being advertised as their specialty. It was good but it wasn't "WOW THIS IS A MUST AT THIS RESTUARANT" The soup is under seasoned but it does bring out the unique clam flavor. I live in LA so this restaurant wouldn't be a must visit when I'm in town but if I lived close by it would be somewhere I'd go when I want a variety of choices. There isn't a specific item on the menu I'd recommend to people but I believe this restaurant is pretty decent at doing everything on their menu.

Healthy sliced pork belly + soybean paste soup

First time visiting Food: From lunch menu got 1.Healthy sliced pork belly + soybean paste soup: tender and nice! The radish also had oysters yum. Soup was little salty but with rice was good! 2. Sliced smoked duck + soybean paste soup: so good! Duck was very tender. Banchans were good. Did like they weren't too salty. Service: very attentive. Will visit again.

Food is excellent here! We try alot of Korean places and this one maybe the best so far. Seems more natural and fresh. The Banchan seems fresh made. The soups feel natural and healthy. The waitress was nice. Very cozy place

I have been driving by this restaurant for many years and have always thought of visiting to try the food. A friend suggested to meet here and I was glad we had picked this restaurant. The server greeted us pleasantly... this is a good start. We ordered the seafood pancake (this was recommended by a fellow yelper), buckwheat noodles with vegetables, and grilled squid on hot stone plate. We were served banchan (side dishes) while our order was bein prepared. All the banchan were quite tasty, but some of it was a bit salty for my taste. The seafood pancake did not disappoint! The crust was crisp and the seafood tender and flavorful. Not too much batter nor green onions. I strongly recommend it. =) The grilled squid on hot stone plate was very good too. The sauce was slightly on the sweet side for me but enough spicy heat to make the taste just right. The buckwheat noodles with vegetables were not as good as I expected, and I do not recommend it personally. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice too. I would recommend this place overall and strongly suggest that you order the seafood pancakes!!

My favorite Korean restaurant in Buena Park. Get the combo with the short ribs and pork belly. Better than Yedang.

Are the servers nice? NO! Is the price decent? NO! Here's my reasoning: I used to bring my grandfather here because he loved their soup. If I didn't bring him I would buy the galbi tang and take it to him. And back then the service was amazing, the ajummas were so nice and would get you extra servings of banchan and brisket sauce but sadly throughout the years they've become very stingy and just plain out rude. I understand the cost of inflation and it's very real but I used to get their galbi tang for less than $10. At this rate it's costing me $27 for a bowl of soup and no extra gimme with not even a smile. Will I still be back? Yes but not like before. With the competition out here there are other places to go but I do keep coming back. Oh what's a girl to do. Will I recommend this place? That's a hard NO.

The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. After the first visit, I thought maybe it was just an off day since the restaurant was still new. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.

But since I moved out of LA, it's so inconvenient to get to. Enter Kyung Bok Kung -- what a find. I can get a fine dining korean bbq experience conveniently. I've been here a number of times, and this review reflects the few times I've been there. It's become the goto spot to take people from out of town who are visiting and want a Kbbq experience. Things I immediately noticed - lots of white and grey teslas in the parking lot during lunch - you know what that means? Golf Koreans. Yup. Go inside and you'll see incredibly well dressed older retired people with their buddies chatting up in private cubicles. Beautiful decor. It's like the background setting of a korean drama where there's a close-up of the guy and the girl - they're about to say something really serious to each other. The camera does a wide angle shot of them - and this is the restaurant it's shot in. Price points - this place isn't cheap, but they have incredibly good deals on a weekday lunch (cold noodles and meat set). Their dinner set course meals are priced around what you would expect from a quality steak house. This place is not as pricey as AB steak or Cote, but you're getting just as quality. Food - I've had the lunch set meals, the bbq grilled course, and ordered à la carte. One thing is for sure - they don't miss. I never had a 9 budda plate until I came here, but apparently it's like a thing that royals ate during the monarchy days. It was like a korean vegetarian taco. Very intricate (and slightly annoying) to put together but delicious - and a great test of your chopstick skills. Their braised beef (galbijjim) from their lunch set intersects savory, sweet, and tenderness in a way that only Korean grandmas do. I'm not a huge fan of Wagyu beef (just too rich and can never feel after eating it), but I have never felt that way coming out of here. Go here at night if you want to impress someone or celebrate something. Go here during lunch if you want a fantastic meal and want to see what the best korean food can taste like but don't want to break the bank.
