    Cheesesteak w/ fries
    Ben H.

Diner 22 has always been one of my favorite local spots, right up there with Checkers in Mount Union. Both restaurants consistently serve amazing food at great prices, and Diner 22 never disappoints. This time, I stopped in for lunch and opted for the unlimited fries--always a winning choice. The cheesesteak was incredibly tasty, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. And those fries? Fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious, just as they always are. If you're in the area and looking for a satisfying meal that won't break the bank, I highly recommend Diner 22. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's well worth the stop!

    Great and fresh

Yes, I highly recommend this diner. The service was fast, the food was fresh, and everything was spectacular. I especially appreciated the cozy atmosphere, it felt intimate, and I never felt rushed while eating. I had the burger with freshly cut fries, followed by the lemon meringue pie, and everything was excellent. I was served by Emily, who provided great service.

An absolute treasure of a cafe. Nearly 80 years in business! Old school diner with local charm and friendly staff. Monster proportions and great taste.

Delicious chili, we each asked for a cup but we ended up getting and paying for a bowl

The staff here is wonderful, the menu is incredibly varied. I got the salad and it was mostly just a bagged mix with a little bit of chicken on top. The dressing was just Kens. My husband got a cheeseburger and he said it was very bland. However I'm still giving them five stars because the staff is so lovely, they are pro America, the prices are reasonable. I plan on going back and trying some other dishes I will update my review at that time. If everything on the menu is kind of bland that might be good for some folks but for a cheeseburger to really not be seasoned is a simple fix. The chili was very good. Not spicy at all but very tasty. Oddly, we both asked for a cup, but got served and charged for a bowl. The french fries there were an absolute disaster. They look like they had been double dipped, they were greasy and just gross.

    Delicious COLD cole slaw!

Delicious! Great comfort food, great breakfast. Hearty portions! Never, ever disappointed with the menu. We are new to the area and this is the best restaurant food we've had in a long time. Turkey dinner with stuffing is delicious, burgers are flavorful, taste like beef and cooked as ordered each time, chili is tasty, the cole slaw is COLD and so good! The breakfasts are filling and the omelettes are perfect. Even the toast is good! We just love Diner 22 and are so, so glad we found it. Prices are reasonable and there is a small surcharge if you use credit cards. The iced tea is delicious as well! Oh! The desserts! The house made pies are very good and even the desserts they bring in are outstanding! The carrot cake...wow! Can't say enough about the place... it's clean, friendly, quick service, and delicious homemade food. Try it, you will never be disappointed!

Despite it being in Pennsylvania, it throws off a distinct hillbilly atmosphere. The usual signs about Jesus, Christmas and, of course, patriotism were in abundance. My party ordered a variety of dishes and I opted for the roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Sorry to say, the food was just adequate. The beef was overdone and the gravy had the sheen of the bottled gravies at the grocery store. The mashed potatoes were the star of the show, however, as they were very good. The hamburger and pancakes ordered by others get similar reviews. It was a hamburger and tasted like one. The pancakes, being hard to screw up, were just pancakes. This is a cash-only place, so come prepared to be vilified for wanting to pay with plastic. The prices were lower than the norm but that did little to make me feel better upon leaving. Despite the dearth of customers when we were there, the service was also lacking. I had to seek out help to get a refill on my iced tea and we waited a while to pay...with cash. I can't really give this place any additional stars. Stop here if you absolutely can't wait to eat.

It's not much to look at from the outside, and the interior is about the same. Upon entering, we definitely got the "local vibe." It didn't feel like You-Don't-Belong-Here. It felt more like You-Aren't-From-Here. Not unfriendly, just an acknowledgement that we were strangers. Seating was tight so the 5 of us added an extra chair to a booth meant for 4. Our server was pleasant. The ladies room was super clean and very nice, but Big Daddy said the men's room left a lot to be desired. Our food came out hot. The burgers were so-so. Definitely not the best I've ever eaten. But the fries were good, so that helped make up for it. Big Daddy really enjoyed his fish & chips, and Kid #2 said the chipped beef gravy was delicious. We probably would try someplace different if we were traveling through again, but overall it was pretty good.

From the simplicity of the edifice to the no-frills, hometown, 1960's appearance of the dining room, this place is a throwback...in a good way. We stopped here because it was on our route. It looked like a good, solid choice based on the description and the reviews. And it looked like a choice that was not too expensive. The location was truly what you could term "roadside" on US 322, because it was indeed right next to the road. The exterior appearance was certainly not elegant, but the building was in good shape. The interior was a bit cozy, and the layout was significantly wider than it was deep as you would expect with a small, hometown diner. The decor and furnishings were simple, though certainly adequate. We were seated right away. The service was very good as our server attended to us right away. She was very efficient and our food was delivered rather quickly after our order. The menu offered classic mid-Atlantic American comfort fare. Items such as burgers, a variety of sandwiches, pork chops, baked ham and liver and onions were featured. My wife opted for a simple BLT accompanied by chips, which was quite good. I chose the Baked Fish with mashed potatoes and a starter salad. We're both watching calories and these were great options for that. The value was excellent. The final bill with food, tax and tip (we had water to drink) was $13.00 per person. I would try this place again if circumstances allow.
