The only place in Prescott that offers a vegan menu! If your vegan, just ask for the vegan menu when you come in for breakfast or dinner. And just the fact they have a vegan menu would be enough for me. But there's more! The vegan and non-vegan food is absolutely fantastic Southwestern Dinner Food. And that's not all! The staff, all of them, could not be nicer. The service is authentic and exceptional. And that's not all! They have a full bar. And that's not all! They are located just a block off Wiskey Row. When I'm in Prescott my go to place for huevos rancheros. I've had a couple of other things but nobody else in town in my experience knows how to make huevos rancheros as well as Dinner Bell. They make their tortillas, and a crispy corn one is my favorite foundation, and over it there is a layer of pepper jack with ranchero sauce, on the side: refried beans, guacamole, and fresh pico de gallo, and warm tortillas. I usually don't eat until after noon and they are still serving breakfast until 2 pm. I've tried other places for huevos rancheros but they don't ring my dinner bell. They recently raised the prices 20% but everybody is having to do this, often increasing the price of coffee to make it less visible. Who asks the price of coffee and tea? An onion is now a dollar even at Trader Joe's. :-( No wonder they make me cry. read more

This place is terrible. I had eaten here several years ago and remembered it has been a good diner. Even allowing for the "old school diner" differential, this is one of the worst places I have ever eaten. We all had breakfast, and I will that the freshly squeezed orange juice was actually good. Thats where it stops. (so they're idea of a large is probably a small or a medium anywhere else.) The coffee was terrible. It was thin and tasted like water, even when I tried to doctor it up with creamer and Splenda. Every single thing we ordered was not good, or was almost good but had something wrong with it. The waffle itself was actually not bad, but when we ordered blueberry waffles, we expected the blueberries to be cooked inside the waffles, not frozen blueberries dropped on top. The cinnamon roll French toast was so dense, it was like a brick. The pancakes had a gummy texture, the bacon was extremely thin, and the sausage was very under-cooked and actually tasted like a pig fat. Finally, the biscuits and gravy were absolutely inedible. We don't know what they did to even get the biscuits to be that consistency. Maybe excellent service would have saved the experience a little bit, but our server was not particularly friendly. I almost hate to leave this review because I'm a huge fan of mom-and-pop restaurants, and I want to support them. And I am an even bigger fan of a place that is an institution in its little town. However, this place was inedible to the point that we left and got an additional breakfast somewhere else. read more

Dinner Bell is a small diner reminiscent of classic American greasy spoons of yesterday. That's its charm. The Dinner Bell is not a chain serving preprocessed factory food. Today we lunched at The Dinner Bell, actually Cafe Alvarez in the back. We ordered the fish and chips and asked to share one entree. When the order arrived there were 3 pieces of fish on each plate. I asked the server if this was one entree. She said she knew we wanted one entree but she mistakenly put the order in for two. I reiterated that we only ordered one to share. She said "I'll take care of it". When the check came we were charged for two entrees and a 10% discount. I asked the server if the 10% was the adjustment. She said that was all the owner would do. I said I would have sent my plate back if I had known we'd be charged for 2 entrees less 10%. She went back to the owner and came back and said it was too late to adjust the ticket. We will not be back. She apologized for her error but I think we should not have been charged for two entrees. You were given untrue information. Neither of us had touched our food when the issue came up. I asked the question as soon as the plates were put down. Not a bite was taken. The story is exactly as I stated above. She assured us she would take care of the issue and get the price corrected to reflect one entree. read more

Dinner Bell Cafe is located a few blocks off the courthouse square in downtown Prescott. Far enough away that it doesn't seem to get much tourist traffic. It should. It's a wonderful restaurant which can be reached by a short walk from courthouse square. It's worth the walk. Dinner Bell Cafe is housed in an old building and is decorated as if it were old, but the decoration is new. It has a front and a back room with the kitchen in the middle. From the street, the back room is reached by walking along the side of the restaurant and you can enter by a well marked door. Another door to the back room opens onto the library parking lot. Service as exceptional. We had a party of seven. My wife and our niece split a plate. No problem. The server asked my brother if he wanted a biscuit . He said he'd have one if there were honey on the table. She brought him honey :). Though we arrived around 11:10, most of us had breakfast. There was plenty to choose from and everyone loved what they had. My niece's husband had the rueben. He said it was great! I had the Southwest omelette. It was very good. My wife had the waffle combo. She loved the waffle and raved about the bacon (she rarely eats bacon, so this was significant). Good food, great service, interesting decor and reasonable prices. Not gonna lie some of the bad reviews kinda of scared me off.. But I'm glad we came here I got the huevos ranchos by recommendation of the waitress and they came out great the sauce was good and the refried beans were great with the white cheese! I highly recommend this place! read more

Dinner bell has unfortunately, gone downhill for the last 2 visits. One early lunchtime I had a fair breakfast omelet. It was standard ham & cheese with great black coffee. Their coffee made up for the ho-hum omelet. However, the kicker was my wife's apple-raisin pecan lunch salad. They had no apples. She regretted ordering it. It was rather blah and a bit chincy. I requested a price break for her bleak lunch. The manager refused and said something about making up for it by making the other ingredients plentiful. We should have shot a before lunch pic. Been wanting to drop in for first time for a while. Finally did so. Nice people, interesting kind of historic place near CourtHouse plaze. Like most of the restaurants downtown Prescott now they charge California prices directed to the tourist trade. Had the Machaca breakfast. On the small side, not bad, ok. But with a drink came to right at 20 dollars. Was worth half that, even in todays overpriced world. Probably won't go back. Feed pretty gouged price wise. read more

Adorable! Friendliest service ever! Historical, good food, quick service! We ended up going here because lone spur cafe was horrible service and so glad we did! Prices were fair and setting was fun, clean and comfortable... a little bit of a walk from whiskey row as it's behind it but close enough you can still park at whiskey row and walk over... no crowds like the restaurants on whiskey row, feels like a hidden gem. This restaurant is a hidden gem! It's quaint and cozy, and away from the busy whiskey row. I sat in the back, which was quiet and had a pretty view of the creek. The back patio was warm and cozy with electric heaters and is dog friendly. Staff was friendly and the service was great. My coffee was much better than what you would expect at a normal diner. I especially loved the fish and chips. They were breaded with Panko crumbs and were not greasy at all. They had a lot of flavor. I also tried the cinnamon roll, which was delicious and moist. I went in on a Saturday morning, ordered huevos rancheros with scrambled eggs. The eggs had a HAIR scrambled into them and when I told the server, she said "best I can do is 10% off". Unacceptable, since I was two bites in and sent the dish back to the kitchen. Will not be returning. Joselyn, Since you were there, you would know that the hair was completely scrambled in the eggs. I completely understand that mistakes do happen but only offering 10% off for a foreign object found in a meal is just unacceptable in this industry. Your server should have shown you the plate, because if she did.. you would have CLEARLY seen that I did NOT eat more than two bites. It's completely unprofessional to try and portray a paying customer as a liar just to make it seem like you weren't in the wrong. Dinner Bell Cafe has a Cantina in the back of the restraurant, formerly known as Casa Alvarez, in which we felt was the best Mexican food in town, however they closed and the new owners have definitely kept our interest the first few times we have eaten there. however one thing, its even better. theres no greasy after taste in the chips, relenos, and the beans. plates are loaded and they have kept us locals pleased that have eatened at Casa Alverez. We ate at the Dinner Bell this morning for the first time in a long time. I have no idea what took us so long to come back because this may be my new go-to breakfast place. We each had the early bird special with country potatoes which were AMAZINGLY good. The country fried steak was wonderful as well. TJ was our server and he was excellent.
