I FINALLY ordered from Dino BBQ, and man do I regret it. The meats were good, especially the melt in your mouth brisket- but the beans were mediocre and the mac salad lacked flavor. The BBQ sauce was good, though! The insane part is that it took 2 hours to get to me. It turns out that someone STOLE my order and they had to make it again. The doordasher was SO nice but holy moly. I don't go to the restaurant because the line is always out the door. I thought maybe doordash could fix that.... buuuuuuuttttt.... not if someone steals the order, lol.

We arrived around 5pm on a weekday and were seated immediately. We were waiting for someone else in our party, and by the time they arrived around 5:45pm the restaurant really got busy. Food came relatively quickly, and the waitress was just attentive enough that we didn't really have to look around for her, but not over-bearing. I am not a big fan of bbq, so I got fried haddock. It was so delicious! My family, who are big fans of bbq, said it was some of the best barbecue that they've had in the area. It's a little bit pricey, but overall worth it. The deviled eggs were also really tasty, and the cornbread is a sweet bread. There was a good amount of food, but I was one of the only people in my party to have leftovers to take home. My only complaint is that the mac&cheese did not have macaroni, and instead was a shell pasta (which really upset my sister haha). There is street parking, but there is also a lot across the road that you have to pay for before 5pm

Stopped here recently with my son and his friend. It had been a couple years since I last visited. It was early on Friday evening around 4:30. Everyone enjoyed their meal tremendously. Bbq was tasty and so were the sides. Had leftovers to take home to enjoy later. Service was attentive.

First time visiting Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and I had high expectations. Everyone told me this is an iconic spot in Syracuse, and I was not disappointed. I was upstairs with a private event. The space is massive, could likely hold 300 people comfortably. There's even a stage space, great for karaoke or a work event. We were served buffet style and everything was INCREDIBLE. Things easily dry out on a buffet line, but not here. Everything was fresh, juicy and tender. My favorite was the pulled pork and mac and cheese. I'll definitely be back the next time im in the area!

Great Ribs and Brisket always Dinosaur BBQ is an old favorite of mine from the first time I tried them in Harlem, NY. The ribs and brisket, are always awesome at Dinosaur, this time was no different. Tender crusty pork ribs were meaty. Brisket was fall apart tender. Great corny flavor in the cornbread too. I generally never skip dessert because the desserts are great too. They sell their own branded bottled BBQ sauce which Ipicked up on a prior visit also. A Wednesday afternoon table was easy to get for my large group. My server was attentive. My meal came quickly after ordering. Metered street parking is nearby.

Totally authentic bbq. We had the two meat combo and the brisket plate. The plates were enough for two people each though we are not huge eaters. The brisket was amazing. For the two meat combo also had the pulled pork which was also very good. Each comes with two sides. We had fries, mashed potatoes, black beans and rice and coleslaw. Only didn't like the coleslaw. The service was quick and friendly.

Came here on vacation and after seeing reviews had to try it out. As a former Texan, I am picky about my 'Que, and was very impressed with their offerings. Ribs were the clear winner; I prefer dry rub on brisket, but all-in-all, very satisfying.

As a part of a New Weekly Initiative as Yelp Elite and working in local Syracuse Entertainment i plan to do a weekly try of something in Syracuse before my gig and we are calling it Takeout Thursdays! The inaugural one for syracuse had to be dinosaurs. Sit down or takeout the food was hot, flavorful, large enough for 2 meals and felt like I got the most bang for my buck. The tres Nino platter acts a sampling of Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Ribs. With it I got both Mac Salad and Mac N Cheese as well as a piece of corn bread. The Pulled pork was the smallest portion of the three but still worth all 3 bites. The slices of brisket were filling. The mac n cheese has always been my favorite side from them with its size and addition of BBQ seasonings its unique and never disappoints. The ribs and Mac Salad were tasty and large enough they will make a second meal. There is a reason people come from all over for it.

We ordered the 1/2 family platter and chose the brisket over pork for our three meats platter that included 1/2 a chicken along with pork ribs. Service was prompt at 5 pm. We gobbled down the food so quickly and barely took a breath. Our two sides were greens with smoked turkey and a cucumber with tomato salad. Hubby got a Guinness on tap and I got Saranac root beer. The ambiance was dark woods and casual. The BBQ was so good that the meats fell off the bones. Perfect place for BBQ.

Every summer in Syracuse, we have to have our annual meal at the Dinosaur. I first visited the Dinosaur the summer they added the bar in 1990. Back then there were no lines or wait time for a table. This year, we visited on a Sunday for lunch. Our wait was 30 minutes, we sat at the bar & had a craft cocktail. We sat in the family dining room. We continued with another strawberry jalapeño margarita (perfectly balanced) and fried green tomatoes (a family favorite). For entrees we had the sliders (two pork belly, one brisket), the tres nino entree (ribs, brisket & pulled pork), a basket of fries, coleslaw, beans & macaroni salad. We devoured and loved everything. Our server was attentive & friendly. We always look forward to our next visit.

My aunt and I had a little dinner date on a Wednesday night for some early dinner and this was the perfect time to go to Dinosaur! We were seated right away as the only table in the first room and by the time we left, not only the room we sat in but the entire restaurant was full and started a waiting list. I was excited to sit down and try some of their well known items since I have only ever tried their food catered. Since I wanted to try some of everything, the tres niños is the perfect menu item! I got to try the pulled pork, ribs, and prime brisket with two sides. It was all hot, flavorful, and yummy! My aunt also really enjoyed her sandwich and there was extra sauces on the table to add some more spice. Our waiter was so kind, attentive, fast, and efficient! Our meal came out super quick, which is a great part of beating the crowd as well. The front room we sat in does get a bit foggy with all the grills right next to us but that wasn't an issue. This was a lot of food and I saved some for lunch the next day - two meals in one is always a plus!

Just what you would expect from this staple BBQ joint. As soon as you get within 100 feet of the entrance you get the smoky aroma of deliciousness entering your lungs. Got seated in about 20 minutes after enjoying a nice Prison City Mass Riot at the bar. Food came quickly and we were all enjoying our choices. I went with the glorious brisket and the jalapeño cheese smoked sausage. The creamy Mac and cheese and the crisp vinegar laced coleslaw compliment the tender meat perfectly. A sweet little piece of cornbread round out this meal. A+ experience

I read up on the menu and discovered they offered lamb chops which is one of my absolute favourites. A taste of home for me! Friendly and efficient staff welcomed us and showed us to our table. So far so good. Very nice young woman looked after us. My wife ordered the rigatoni and I had the chops. She loved her rigatoni so much she's finishing it off 2 days later and still loving it. Sadly my dish was a bit of a disappointment. My two large chops were extremely fatty. It's the kind you simply can't cut through on a slippery plate. Trying to separate what little meat there was from the fat was impossible so I had to give up and bring it home to a cutting board and an extremely sharp knife. I haven't tried to eat it yet but it looks as fatty as the first. Both had been totally covered by a condiment that I think should have been served in a separate container to allow the diner to regulate the amount desired. The base was a pilf which made trying to cut the chops even more difficult because every time the meat or the knife slipped, the table was showered with grains....all a bit slapstick....! As I previously said, my wife loved her meal and the previous visit was epic so I hate to criticise but I'm just trying to be honest and fair. I think $45 for a couple of very fatty chops with not much meat and smothered in a vinaigrette you might not like is a bit cheeky... In different circumstances I would have sent it back. Oh well, you live and learn...

I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. Our server, Karen was great at explaining the menu and providing nice service. She informed me that several of their burger have been rated the best in the state at various times over the past several years, which was impressive. She also said their chicken wings were pretty highly rated locally, so we started with an order of 6 of the wings with their Dr Pepper BBQ sauce. These wings came out over fried, looking pathetic, and they were dry. The Dr Pepper BBQ sauce had no positive effect or flavor, so I asked for some of their hot wings sauce, which she properly brought. The sauce was great, I wish we would have ordered that instead. It definitely helped the flavor part of the wings, but the texture (plus they were so small) really was a deal breaker for us and we each had one and that was it. Next up was their burger - I got their Beef on Weck Burger. I was worried about the saltiness of the bun, as I find Kimmelweck buns to be way too salty, but she assured me that they get these from a local bakery and they're perfect. So, I ordered it and was VERY HAPPY with it! The bun was insanely good... soft and so flavorful, while hardly salty at all, which was my preference. The roast beef on it was really good and tender. The burger meat was so very tasty and tender - WOW! The entire burger came together perfectly! I got it with a side of poutine fries and those fries were amazing! The Guiness gravy on them was very flavorful! Overall, while we didn't enjoy the wings, the rest of our food and the service definitely made this place a worthwhile visit! I feel like the service and mains far exceeded our expectations, so we can overlook those terrible wings and still give a 5 star review. I'd definitely return!!

The burnt end chicharrones left more to be desired. Both my partner and I thought they were dry and not tender. Also, there was something about the flavor that we did not care for. I absolutely love burnt ends from BBQ joints, and this was the first time we've ordered chicharrones so I don't have something to compare them to, but I'd suggest trying them elsewhere. As for the brussels, when we first got to the restaurant our friends were sharing them. We tried one bite and knew we had order a whole plate for ourselves! They were literally the best brussel sprouts we've ever had. The roasted garlic aioli and grana cheese were topped on perfectly cooked brussels which I would go back for. I highly suggest checking out The Evergreen, go through their beer menu, and find a new favorite plate.

A short update to my original review. We haven't been to Syracuse in a while. Stopped in for a…read moregreat meal on our first night. We had high hopes based on our first visit. We weren't disappointed. We sat at the bar this time - Outstanding bar and ambiance. We met a very excellent bar man who made us some outstanding cocktails. I had two most excellent gin martinis. We started with the mushrooms and fried egg. Outstanding like the first time. We had the wood fired filets for our main. We had a dessert this time. It was a flourless chocolate creation that was sumptuous. Once again, an outstanding meal. I really love this place.

I was the only returning patron, the others much enjoyed their first time here. Walking through the front door you're instantly hit with a wonderful smell of food cooking over an open fire. Got a terrific table to look out the window and enjoyed a nice evening view. Took full advantage of every food meal course available. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. Every bite was outstanding. One of us got ice cream for dessert which she said was very good. The ice cream was made right there at the restaurant. We kicked off the dinner with a rum cocktail and a tequila cocktail. All spirits locally sourced. If you haven't tried it here yet you should. You will not be disappointed.
