I was given a time frame of ~45 minutes and in less than 15 minutes I was back in my car and on the road with my fixed tire =) They even put my spare tire back in my trunk for me! Why are there so many nails on the road??? Here is my theory - tire store managers buy nails in bulk and then drive around town throwing them onto the roads in order to get more business. Anyhow, I was sad to find a nail in my tire recently and took it to Discount Tire. I was hoping that I would only have to pay for a patch but expected to have to pay for a new tire. I was happy to find that I did not need a new tire. I was ecstatic to find that Discount Tire doesn't even charge to repair and patch! I didn't even purchase these tires there, it didn't even matter! I am so very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of this store. On May 17th at about 50 minutes prior to movers scheduled to come to my home, I needed 3 more boxes. So as I drove a half of a mile down the street I noticed a loud noise outside of my car. It was my drivers side front tire. When I pulled into the Free Tire Check aisle, the young Discount Tire tech recognized me as having recently been there. After a brief check he invited me to go to the front folks to see what they could do. I let him know that I didn't have a lot of time, because I am moving. And apparently he relayed not only that I he recognized me from having come in with tire troubles, but also that I had less than an hour, because I was moving. The manager didn't have the exact tire size, but he had some used ones that would fit my car. So, he gave me loaner tires to make sure I was safe and on time for my movers. I was in and out in 20 minutes. The next morning, I was so thrilled by this care and kindness that I called the Discount Tire near my new home (in the 92108 area). They had new tires for my car. While I like discount tire as a chain, my last 2 of 3 encounters at this store have been less than satisfactory. They are extremely slow and appear disorganized. Appointments don't seem to matter as a time saving tool, not sure they process customers on a first in first out basis and the estimates provided for job completion aren't accurate. I would recommend going to another discount tire branch that is faster and more efficient. 3 hour wait for a tire patch is just not acceptable. Most competitors can beat that easily. read more

bought my tires at the ENCINITAS DISCOUNT TIRE location. years later (i don't drive much) the idiot light for tires is on. there's a slow leak and have to re-inflate every couple weeks or so. took my TUNDRA to TOYOTA CARLSBAD SERVICE for another issue and had 'em check things out. i was told there was a nail in the sidewall that can't be patched and that i need a new tire. was shopping at COSTCO and dropped by their tire shop. when i tell them the TOYOTA CARLSBAD story, the manager chuckled softy and politely suggested you can't take anything those guys say at face value. runs his hand along the sidewalls and confesses he can't feel the nail but doesn't have a tire in my size (well, he does but pretty much insists i go back to DISCOUNT so, IF i have to replace a tire, the set will match). a couple days later drop my TUNDRA at the DISCOUNT TIRE in OCEANSIDE. tell them the TOYOTA CARLSBAD story and i get another round of smirks. SEAN politely suggested you can't take anything those guys say at face value -- along with my other personal experiences at TOYOTA CARLSBAD, i am beginning to discern a pattern. go to lunch at BKK THAI with my wife and hour later, when i pick up my truck, SEAN walks me out and points to where the now patched nail hole was circled in white -- dead center of the tire. Okay, I needed new tires. The tires I wanted for my truck were out of stock at Costco and would not be available for a month or more. I stopped by DISCOUNT TIRES to see what they had. I told them what I needed. First Juan told me that 30,000 miles on a set of tires was not much and Dunlop might be able to offer something. These are original tires and 6 years old. He checked with Dunlop. They provided me with $50 credit on each tire. Wow. Never heard of that. So now my tires went from being a little more than Costco to way cheaper. This was great service. Yesterday when I approach my car front wheels were turned a bit to right and looking at tire I see top of a hex head screw in my front right tire. I drive to Discount Tire and there is Ernesto same person who sold me four tires last December. Ernesto sprayed screw with water and removed it. Small bubbles came out of screw hole but soon stopped. Ernesto had no PZero's in stock and nearest was in Redwood City, CA. Ernesto suggested I not drive much and ordered tire for delivery today. I thought this morning no way a PZERO is going to be here today from Redwood City. I was wrong. I was in for replacement a little after 2pm and out a little before 3pm. I just got done visiting my local neighborhood mechanic at Cornerstone Automotive. For weeks now, the low tire pressure light has been coming on, and we have been filling it as it comes on. There has been no evidence of any of our tires going flat, and the censor seems to come on sporadically. There is no indication that there's anything wrong with the tire at all, but the light eventually comes back on, whether it's a day later or a week later. My first thought was that perhaps we have a slow leak in one of the tires, and then my second thought was "oh man, we can't afford to buy a new tire!" So, I took my car to my regular mechanic at Cornerstone, who informed me that if I took my car to Discount Tire, they would take a look at my tire for free, and if there was a slow leak, they would patch it up for free...if it was due to a nail or other removable object, they would remove it and fix the flat for free as well. How great is that? I took it in, and Juan told me that the tires were actually OVER inflated, which was what had caused the censor to trip. They had me drive over and they deflated the tires down to where they needed to be, then sent us on our way. Juan did try to sell me new tires, which I guess is what he's supposed to do...I mean, it *is* a tire sale shop! However, I wasn't feeling too good about paying $480 for four new tires on an all wheel drive vehicle, so I'm probably going to take my car to Costco and see what their prices are instead. The staff were very courteous and they did make the censor light go off, so I am grateful for them taking the time to do all of that for free, so I would definitely recommend them for a quick fix for a flat or an estimate for new tires. The parking lot is a little tricky to get in and out of, because it's on the corner of two very busy roads, so just keep an eye out when you're leaving for traffic, and you'll be golden. Great experience and quality, professional service...I'm just not prepared to pay that much money for new tires when I know I can get them for less with my CostCo membership. :) read more
