Let's start with online queuing - it was awesome to "wait in line" while driving to the restaurant! Then we'll stop at cocktails: please, take the foodless time to savor the flavor of a Rye Baby (it is SO worth it)! We made an appetizer out of truffle fries which could have sent us home satisfied already... But we persevered and enjoyed PEI mussels & the linguini with shrimp. Flavors astounded and prompted a good deal of, "Oooo, try this!" But wait, there's more! Although sadly they ran out of the bread pudding we craved, the flourless chocolate torte and its accompanying peanut brittle were delightful. Came here around 6pm on a Saturday. All the tables were full so we took the five seats at the bar. The bartender was very good, attentive and super nice! Started off with drinks. I got the sauvignon since I ordered the salmon. Dry, light and crisp. For appetizers, we got the mussels and calamari. The mussels were great. Some sort of tomato sauce with sausages. Out of 5, I would give it a 3.5. The calamari was okay. The sauce was a bit vinegary. Give it a 1.5/2. Oh, and the bread and butter was amazing!!! For entrees, I got the salmon. My friends got the rib eye and chicken. Salmon was perfect. Medium rare. Tender on the inside and crusty outside. The risotto was buttery and creamy. The dill was lovely. I tried my friends chicken and it was flavorful but a tad dry. The rib eye was tender and delicious. Overall, awesome place! If I lived nearby, I would definitely come back here. My husband and I were excited about our evening out to see "Cabaret" at Barrington Stage and started our evening here. Tables are very close together and the gentleman next to me kept getting up and down during dinner to take phone calls which was quite disruptive. He also spoke very loudly even above the noisy atmosphere. The food was very good and afterwards, we decided to head to the bar to have one more drink before the show. The server was very nice and held two seats for us at the bar. My husband asked the bartender to see a list of his bourbons and he replied, "our list is outdated and I don't have a new list - if you want it I most likely have it (he didn't)." My husband mentioned we saw the list when we looked at the dessert menu at the table and the bartender followed up with, "they're all over there on that wall (pointing to one of the top rows down at the other side of the bar)." We eat sitting at the bar often and I have NEVER met a bartender that was so rude and dismissive to us, even when they were busy. And most bartenders that are good at what they do can rattle off numerous brands when asked. While I enjoyed the food, I'm not sure I would go back - we spent a nice amount of money there and didn't deserve to be treated like that! read more

Start with the cheese plate. Think of that as a requirement. They offer incredible local cheeses and a decent quantity of them with fresh bread and jams. It is truly delicious and the cheese variety changes by the season. You won't be disappointed. Everything is cooked to order here. So, of you don't want cream in your rissoto, you don't have to have it. You want to substitute things, it is ok. I like the personal attention and service. The food itself is mixed. The shrimp tacos are terrible. Too much sauce and three tiny shrimp. Skip it. On the other hand, the beet and goat cheese rissoto was fabulous. It has an interesting read color from the beets. The hamburgers are also excellent. It is important to use the Yelp or No Wait system because it is very small and it gets very busy. No reservations. read more

I'm unfamiliar with the area but found myself around here on a week day afternoon after a long drive. We came here for a very early dinner, like 4:30pm on a week day. We were the only ones in the place, though it did start to fill in by the time we left about an hour later. They have a decent beer list, and a good selection of food. The service was attentive. The calamari appetizer was good and a decent portion for sharing between 2 people. Our entrees were pretty good as well. I had been good years ago. The present menu is not good and very limited. We will not go back. My husband had ordered a Belvedere Gibson. 10 minutes later, it came with a lemon twist. (He hates lemon anything). Trying to flag down the server to ask if the bartender knew how to make a Gibson she said that they didn't have cocktail onions. We place our food order and it took 45 minutes to get. The decor had fake plastic plants, some weird artwork, and lousy music. The tables are also close to each other and not good for social distancing. Their sister restaurant "Public" in North Adams is much better, but now too far for us. read more

Came into Pittsfield on business and my co-worker and I were looking for something good as well as close to the hotel. District Kitchen was right across the street and we saw it had great reviews on Yelp and decided to try it. It's a Monday night so there were no lines and we were seated quickly. Hot fresh bread was brought out that was absolutely perfect. I had the risotto with chicken and my co-worker had the carrot ginger soup and public salad. The restaurant is clean and doing a great job of following safety guidelines for staffing and patrons. The salad and crab cake were fantastic. The portion of the Mac and cheese was HUGE but the flavor was good not great. My husband's steak dinner was bland. The mashed potatoes weren't seasoned and the carrots were cooked with the stems tops attached, not aesthetically pleasing nor tasty. The meat was cooked perfect to temperature but lacked any flavor or seasoning. The beer list is great. I probably won't go back unless it was just for salad/appetizer and a beer. read more

She and her 3 other friends were there for a short while before myself and my fiancé arrived. Waited for the bartender to acknowledge me which took him a few minutes ugh then I proceeded to order 2 drinks and he says to me are you sitting at a table ? I replied yes.. I guess he's asking me maybe because I was standing at the bar and not sitting.. IDK.. He says I'll send your server over .. I ask him to just make my drinks and I would pay him because I have not seen anyone working our table for like I said 7-8 minutes.. and I didn't want to wait any longer. Again he says I'll send your server over ..!ugh ..so I guess now he's kinda refusing to make me drinks lol .. so I return to the table to finally be greeted by our server in which my first impression was .. Does he work in the kitchen? Lol ...ok don't get me wrong the server he was nice but he had a full beard and was wearing a black and red plaid coat, like a lumber jack .. (Sorry I would not allow my employees to dress as such in a cute quaint little place) Just saying.. Ok I finally get to order a glass of Riesling and he says we don't have that . I say we'll it's on the menu.. again he says well we don't have that .. Hmm ok so I proceed to order a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for myself and a captain Morgan and coke for my man .. GRRR 25 minutes later were receiving our drink. I have to say this was a first impression of the place for me and maybe be the last . I don't want to sound like a snob but come on .. The place wasn't busy and we sat for 7-8 minutes without being greeted, then I went to the bar just to order our 2 drinks from the bar which basically I was denied because I was sitting at a table and then not having the wine I wanted and waiting 25 minutes for the drinks .. Im really glad I did not order any food I wouldn't want to see how long that would of taken .. lol .. Come on guys I could run circles around your staff and make the customers feel much more welcome. Being a good worker in the hospitality business you acknowledge everyone and help everyone. Now if the bartender would have taken my order and rang me up he probably would have gotten definitively a 20-30 percent tip.. I guess his loss lol .. Not a great date spot. Showed up on a Friday night at 6pm, was told we couldnt be waitlisted by the host. Made a reservation online for 8. He was visibly annoyed when i told him that. Came back, my girlfriend stood up to go the bathroom and gave me a hug and a kiss and he walked up to us and said "i hate to break up this intimate moment but customers are complaining" not sure how someone complained in 4-5 seconds about nothing. On vacation up in The Berkshires and what do you do when you get hungry?! Yelp some stuff! Lol. We found this restaurant with some good ratings and it wasn't too far away so we drove on down through the rain hoping for a good time. There isn't exactly a private lot so you have to either find a spot on the street or there's like a... back alley kind of lot that several businesses share (some that close earlier in the day so that leaves more space). The place is relatively small and homely. A bar off to your right when you walk in with several tables toward the back. The low-lighting plus dark colors of the wood and surrounding artwork make for an intimate feel. I like it. We shared the Lemon Calamari as an appetizer which was absolutely delicious with the sweet sauce that's paired with it. OH! We can't forget the complimentary bread and savory butter that comes with your meals. I think we had a total of 3 loaves before and during our appetizer. For dinner I had the Almond & Panko Chicken which contains ginger fried rice, chives, orange-honey butter and broccolini. It was VERY good, but I do feel that the portion may have been a little small. The only reason I was satisfied was due to the multiple loaves of bread and the appetizer. Great ratings however was unfortunately not overly impressed. Drink "hot mess Beth" was just ok. Small and strong. Started with calamari plate. Came on a bed of arugula; very quick as it might have been sitting. 2 tentacles and maybe 8 rings. That was all. Rubbery and Luke warm. Shared a pear and goat salad- this was fantastic! I was treated extremely rudely by the bartender Adam this past Saturday night. I would have left and taken my business elsewhere if I wasn't with a large group of other women. I decided to stay and choke down my taco after being spoken to disrespectfully. The customer is always right and he should be fired. At night, which is most likely the most crowded time of day, it is quite dark in the restaurant. As a matter of a fact, our reservation was for 8:00, and we weren't seated unit about 8:20. I do understand it was quite busy, but they could've at least sat us down and let us know of a wait. Speaking of waits, it was almost an entire hour before we even got our drinks. We were just served water. It then was about 15 minutes later when we got our food, which 3 of the 5 orders were messed up. The service was slow, lazy and all around not enjoyable. A great spot tucked on a side street in downtown Pittsfield. My BF & enjoyed a beer each & a meal - portobello mushroom burger (with Brie!) for him & mussels for me. We sat at the bar, by the door, which wasn't ideal - but given the busy night, we were happy to not have a long wait. The bartender was friendly & nice, even if she did forget our appetizer. It never went on the bill, so we took it as a sign we weren't supposed to have it. Loved the slightly industrial decore that was made cozy with the exposed brick wall & large front windows. Management said "we note your complaint" horrible Management putting the waitstaff in charge of admonishing the smokers. Who BTW yelled good bye to us when we left. Pretty cool place we came across while staying out in Western MA. Atmosphere was nice and staff friendly while drinks menu had a great variety. The menu had a little something for all tastes. The Public Salad was delicious but Steak Frites left a bit to be desired. French fries were fantastic but the steak wasn't well seasoned and was tough. Roasted jalapeño chimichurri was fresh and tasty but more of a garnish than sauce. Also not enough of it to overcome the bland steak. Would go back if ever in town again... read more

Eh... all show no good cooking and the service is what you would expect from an 18 year old that would rather be partying with their friends then trying to earn a good tip. The place is nice however they served my burger without the lettuce, tomato and onions the menu said it came with. Also I asked for some spicy sauce and the waitress said "sure, I will bring you hot sauce" ... I'm still waiting for it! So I have a dry toasted bun, a meat patty with bacon and fries. No sauce, no ketchup, no hot sauce. The only good thing about the meal was the beer! I was so hungry I started to eat the dry food with my beer. My wife and had our Wednesday night here after reading such positive reviews of this new gastro pub. I would rate the food at 4 stars but for the exceptionally loud and poorly lit atmosphere. We shared a delicious calamari and my wife had their pan-seared salmon and risotto. She said it was excellent. I ordered their Cioppino seafood stew which was unusually tasty. Their house white wine was fair at $8.00/glass but our bill came to $50/person so it's not inexpensive. It was worth the trip but I only give it a three stars due to the headache I developed from the noise! read more
