Here's the thing. Everything hinges on what you order. There were some misses and some mind blowing food served to us. DO NOT GET the lobster cakes that come served in a pool of syrup. It was bad. Really bad. Also, the Worcerstershire steak bites are accurately named. That is all you taste, which is overwhelming. YOU MUST ORDER corn creme brulee (side dish not a dessert). I ate the WHOLE thing and would have licked the bowl if I weren't in public. Also, the beer cheese fondu is the BEST dipping sauce I've ever had in my life. Paired with that soft pretzel bread. Get out of here. We also ate the brie, green apple, crustini concoction, and it was OK. It tasted good, but I would order a second beer cheese fondu before I order that again. We also got mac n cheese with bacon...which was good. BUT if you have the cream corn brulee, it makes the mac and cheese look dry. It's not dry, but that's how ooey and melt in your mouth the corn dish is. So if you MUST try the mac and cheese, get it as your "appetizer." Then get the corn cream brulee. The bignets were just OK...fried dough...the sauces didn't taste good to me. This could be because I was full beyond capacity and wanted to die at this point. I'll definitely get a different dessert next time, though. For the record, donuts and cinnamon rolls are my favorite food, so I'm a little dough snob. We were the only people in the restaurant, we were dining at around 2pm. The service was excellent. Unfortunately they didn't have the salmon, which is what I was most excited to try. The corn brûlée was an unique approach to corn, we loved it. We also had the beef tenderloin and the pimento puffs. I would give the food 3 1/2 stars, but the service and the servers recommendations (because of the complicated menu) made the experience so much better. I would definitely go back. read more

This may be my new favorite Carmel restaurant. A co-worker recommended it, and I came here with my dad (who likes meat sometimes) and my step-mom, who has both a gluten allergy and dairy intolerance. Unlike most restaurants, there was plenty for both them and me (the vegetarian) to choose from, because divvy has a huge menu of small plates. My favorite was the sweet potato fries with maple bourbon sauce, but I am especially in love with sweet potatoes (and often dream of having a well-roasted sweet potato's babies) so not super surprising. I also enjoyed the sunburst squash, tomato bruschetta, and tasting and sharing both the red and white flights of wine (we always drink plenty of wine, and flights are the best). The atmosphere was trendy and new and the service was fantastic and quick. The finishing touch of the night, before we left, was the complimentary homemade caramel - but I hear sometimes it is another morsel like homemade fudge. And it comes in a cute little divvy box. As wonderful as our selections were, I was left feeling like I could have tried all the selections. The first time I was here was about a year ago. My husband and I happened upon it as we were looking for a place to celebrate our engagement from earlier that day. Most recently, we were there on a date night with another couple last weekend. Both times were fabulous. The wait staff is engaging and they really seem interested in making sure you sit back and enjoy the entire experience. At no time did we ever feel rushed, and the service was quick, prompt and never overbearing. Perhaps we have luck with our ordering, but there was nothing we didn't just absolutely love. Make sure to get the Corn Brûlée, it's divine! Fried Olives, yes please! And, they made one of the best Vodka Gimlets I've ever had. It's pricey but I felt every penny was well spent. I have been to divvy multiple times and I am always impressed. There were six of us there for dinner last night, which was a great number for sharing everything we got. I love that this restaurant is great for large groups, or smaller ones. From start to finish, we enjoyed everything we got. The best part is that you can order in stages, so it's more of an experience and everything comes out tasting very fresh. When our group has a divvy night, we tend to chose one or two items from the "appetizer" type dishes, and usually one item from the remaining pages. For a starter, my recommendation would be to get the beer cheese; it was the best beer cheese I've ever had. The Brussels sprouts were my second favorite item we ordered last night. My fiancé and I make Brussels sprouts at least once a week and have perfected our recipe (in my opinion). The addition of the pine nuts was incredible. Big fan. My third favorite was the pork wontons. These were the most delicious little warm pockets of yummy meat that lived up to the hype of other yelpers' reviews. My fourth favorite item was the mac and cheese. The dish was so cheesy and delicious, but as far as mac and cheese goes, The Eagle still makes it better (divvy's was a close second though!) My favorite dessert that I've had at divvy was the smores dessert because it was so fluffy, light and chocolate-y. I was disappointed by the bite size creme brûlée. Between the six of us, we obviously ordered more than what I've listed, but the ones described above were my favorites. I can't wait to go back again soon! read more

The small plate sharing was an enjoyable way to try several dishes and relax over conversation. The menu offers a variety of choices. Hands down duckadillas were absolute favorite surprise. Every dish was petite but packed gargantuan amounts of flavor. I found the seasoning never overpowered the flavor of the dish and preparation was skillful. Our server was knowledgable, friendly and paid enough attention that we never felt neglected or pressured to hurry through our meal. Port taste tour rounded out our meal and was a nice finish to split. Ordered: Bok Choy, crostini fig Brie, duckadillas, pickles, deviled eggs, and pot de creme. Really disappointing. Mixed drinks were too strong, not well mixed. The concepts were good, but the taste was not. We tried the Manhattan and the Elderflower Gimlet. The waiter couldn't identify where the lamb came from. His eventual answer: off the meat truck and probably from New Zealand. The "chef" is a nutritionist. What kind of conscientious nutritionist buys mystery meat? The corn creme brulee was very overrated. It has potential, but the execution was bad. The smores brulee had potential, but it was burnt and the marshmallows weren't thoroughly warmed. The chocolate mousse had far too much salt and I like salt with chocolate and carmel, but it was all dropped in one spot like some sort of red salt bomb. The scallops rockafella was smothered in cheese among other things to hide the quality of the scallops, which wasn't high. Most dishes we tried were just one flavor note. The pretzel rolls (from Costco) were average. The mustard and bacon jam served with them were just ok, but nothing great. The duckadillas had one of the worst tortillas I've had. Wal Mart purchase? The "braised beef dish" was a mushy mystery meat smothered in some kind of bland sauce. The decor is probably the best thing about divvy, but not worth the price or the trip, and I live right down the street. $100 of my hard earned money and came away with nothing except a stomachache and a little bit of a buzz from the strong drink. read more

Great tapas style experience. Lots of great flavor in small bite sized packages. Of the desserts I most enjoyed the balance of the baked peach pocket pie with the butterscotch bourbon glaze. It was delicious, not overly boozy and a perfect amount for tasting. Out of entrees I most enjoyed the sesame tuna with the teriyaki & chili glaze which had a really interesting texture with the addition of the wasabi peas instead of straight wasabi. The start of devour Indy, in my opinion should be a great start to your offerings. This place did nothing to impress. The wait time was horrendous with only 10 patrons inside. There were no substitutions, which sucks because I don't eat beef; but it would have been nice to just switch that for another item; but no. After placing the order of upto 3 choices on the devour menu, the soup arrived in great timing; however, the entree of 5-6 food items took a very long time. Some 25 minutes elapsed. The food was half and half, great and subpar. Nothing really stood out as, yes, i've gotta come back for this again. Even the dessert plate looked messy and unorganized. We went to Divvy for dinner on New Year Eve and it was wonderful! We got the savor tour, veg head and New Year Eve special tour. Everything was so good! Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with picking anything on their menu. The brussel sprouts were out of this world! They have a nice crispy char with great flavor. The whipped feta was so light and creamy, with such a balanced flavor profile. The lobster quesadilla from the NYE special was really good too! It came with a super yummy spicy aioli to dip them in. Go on a Tuesday (even a NYE Tuesday) and they have half off carafes! I've suggested getting one tour per person to share. Adding the veg head is a good add on for a fresh appetizer. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because their high top tables are too tall for the chairs, they feel a little awkward. Not to mention the high top tables aren't really big enough for a lot of plates. read more

For a place that works so hard to appear upscale, the lack of care that goes into training their staff is surprising. We were greeted by a host who asked us if we had reservations, we didn't but it was fine, and when he walked around from the host station we saw he was disheveled, wearing dirty sneakers - a far cry from aa restaurant I would make reservations at. He led us past an empty restaurant to a 4 top in the back that he promptly split into 2 tables despite the fact that the other party of 2 in our otherwise empty room was sitting at a 4. The service was fine. Nothing amazing but not the worst I've had, same with the food. Was it worth the money? No. When we were wrapping up, the host came by again, this time with a presumably larger party on their way, moved the table that was directly next to us and put the dirty glass and wine list from that table on top of my napkin and next to our plates. Mind you, this is a 2 top...no room for our own plates let alone the dirty plates someone didn't bother to clear from the table next to us. All in all, not a place I ever need to revisit. read more

It is a great atmosphere, peaceful and rarely busy if you go in the absence of either a Palladium or Booth Tarkington Theater event. The food is small portions (as it should be ); nonetheless, a little overpriced yet amazing. This is likely indicative of the restaurant location and ambience - stunning. I like all the gluten-free options! (Another plausible reason for the food being slightly overpriced, even for this area.) The service is somewhat lacking, only within the professional decorum category. The bartender, a rather young person named Eric, is a good example. Nearly every time I dine there with my wife he is distant, cold, and it appears whenever you ask for something it is an inconvenience. Perception is and unfortunate reality. As a consequence, it appears he is usually there, so my wife and I have decided to leave this restaurant off our list. This decision was made on our last visit, when we overheard him speaking poorly about the owner. He proceeded to then speak poorly about another staff member just as she had 'clocked out.' Unfortunate for my wife and I as customers, he was doing this within earshot. This 'rant' continued for so long, my wife had to ask me what horrible atrocity the owner must have committed for such venomous babel. Personally, this reflects poorly on the entire establishment when employees openly speak ill of an owner and / or other employees; in front of customers no less. It is an unfortunate side effect of low class and unsophisticated professionalism. Having been a bartender myself, back in my college days, this person lacks both maturity and much-needed social skills. It usually takes some semblance of personality and a higher level of social etiquette to successfully navigate such a position, especially in an area like Carmel. If he wants to be a bartender, I suggest a search for work somewhere on 71st Street, or farther South where such behavior is tolerated, and even expected. You need only a modicum amount of social skills for such establishments. But this kind of behavior is definitely not on 'The Carmel Standard.' Overall, a great atmosphere and peaceful environment. Going to be a long one. Sat in the bar at a two top with a friend of mine for dinner this week. We both wanted a little bit of everything, between the two of us with drinks, our meal was $110. I thought cost was reasonable given everything we could try. I recommend doing a taster tray of the charcuterie and cheese and spreads. (Duck prosciutto and fig jam is genius and the cured salon, A Plus) I do think the tray it arrives on is monstrously large for the amount of food, it took up way too much space on our small table. We were able to fit a few things, but what frustrates me is having a kid come by to drop off some other things we ordered and not offering to problem solve and rearrange the table. This poor 14-16 year old runner just stared at us to figure it out while he stood there with our next two plates. This is the same kid who said to the table behind us "I don't know" when asked about the sauce. My only suggestion here, help him get more comfortable with speaking to guests, or don't have him run food. Becca did a great job organizing our order and stretching it out. I appreciated having different plates brought out a different times. We also got great protein recommendations from both Becca and John to add on to our meal. I would love to see a serving size ratio on the menu. Like "good for 2-3" or "4-5". So when I bring friends back, we don't have to argue over the last piece of tuna. What a let down. We had heard so many great things and were excited to try Divvy. When we got there for reservation we were put in a booth in the very back corner that would be comfortable if you were a highschool girl. Not so much for my 210lb football playing husband. The table was tiny - it barely held our drinks and menu. We should have asked to move to another table since there were some available. We started with the beer cheese fondue, which was jazzed up Velveeta with stale pretzel rolls. Pass. Next we had the sizzlin' shrimp which looked promising. Not so much. The shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp that had been put in the microwave 2 days ago. They were small, tough and I did not eat them. The corn creme brulee was good but you it is SO rich you can only stomach a couple bites. We also had the steak bites. I'm not 100% sure it was steak. If it was... it was dog food quality. The potatoes they served with it were not even cooked entirely. The only thing redeeming about dinner was the wine flight and the Sun King my husband drank. Our waitor was a little goofy but attentive. Food was quick for a Friday night... just wish the quality had been there. Definitely won't return. $90 down the drain. read more

My friends and I wanted to try a fun place for a girls night out. We love the idea of small plates and wanted to give Divvy a try. The food was okay, and we were happy about everything until they rushed us out the door 30 minutes before closing time. We were told they were closing soon (the sign says 9pm) but they started asking us to hurry up and finish around 8pm. They wanted us out the door by 8:30. I've heard people complain about this happening to them here on Yelp, but thought it was exaggerated. It wasn't. We will never visit that place again. There are too many restaurants who would treat you a lot better who deserves my patronage. read more

Stopped here a year ago and thought it was delicious and we had a nice experience. But we went there last week and the experience was poor. The vegetable bisque was bland, the scallop tacos were room temperature smelled and tasted fishy, and were overcooked and tough. We had a few other small dishes that were only so-so. For the price we could have done much better elsewhere. Strangely, it was a Saturday night and a lot of people were out but this place was nearly empty. We were left wondering if they are in a declining mode and soon to be out of business. Gave it 3 stars but was considering only 2. Sorry Divvy, but we won't be coming back.
