The customer service was great. The young man that helped me was friendly. That's the end of any positive about this restaurant. I ordered 2 coney dogs and fried mushrooms. How could it go wrong. The coney dogs were the lowest quality dog I have ever had. The mushrooms were breaded in this weird tasting batter that no sauce could mask. I gave the food to my dogs. And I totally wanted $13. Its a dive a down river hole in the wall and it's a local favorite i like it but i give 3 star in this review cause they burnt my fries on this trip . We visited this location to try their "coneys" and were very pleased with the menu, service, food, and value. Dix coney sauce is more of a traditional chili, but a tasty treat none the less. They use Dearborn brand wieners, which are a local favorite and high quality. The fries were great, the server top-notch. There were flying ants in the restaurant & one on my menu running around that I smushed with a napkin. Food was subpar & the staff must have asked me if I wanted more coffee when my cup was still full 5 times (not that being attentive is a bad thing but there were context clues here that we didn't need more). I think the bacon is the pre-cooked bacon from Costco, very thin & tastes strikingly similar. Ok since it's the only place around open 24 hours but I wouldn't recommend if there is anything else open! read more

I drove about 60 miles to get a Detroit Coney Island, they're too spicy here. A real, genuine, Coney Island is NEVER spicy. Since there are no alternatives within 200 miles I will come back and endure it. More catch-up helps. It's a fun place, watch out, you may have to bring your own Cokes. Having a light night cheese burger here is always a delight. Always a good crowd here remember it's open here 24/7. But from my experience it doesn't matter what time it is here all shifts bring excellent service and a nice crowd that is either coming from club or work. But at around 12 there is not sitting just order to go. Try all the cakes and definitely order the cheeseburger with fries. TERRIBLE !!! I was in the area from Cleveland & decided to stop here. This was the worst food I have ever had in my life. Hot dogs were terrible and the chili was obviously straight out of a can and into the microwave. My wings had absolutely NO SEASONING. All they had available was hot sauce and ranch dressing .. The only drinks they had available were Sprite or Coke. DO NOT EAT HERE. Find something else on the strip. This ain't where you want to go. Dix Coney is what you expect and love about Detroit area coney islands. Good food at a great price with friendly service is exactly what you will find here. The food is Coney Island fare and not gourmet so do not set your expectations as such. Breakfast items are served all day and I highly recommend giving their omelettes and pancakes a try. The true thing that makes Dix stand out from the field of other Coney's is how absolute friendly everyone is and especially understanding of children. Came in with my two young grandsons and I do not think we have ever received better service than we did here. They were even offered drinks to go and a refill. Typical Coney Island menu, so I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with everything and cheese fries, an order of pancakes, a full breakfast scrambled eggs/HB/bacon/sausage/toast, and cheese sticks. My friend ordered a chicken hani pita deluxe. Cheese sticks were ok, a little hard and over fried. The breakfasts were ok but the hash browns tasted disgusting. The only thing I could equate the taste to was kind-of like gas, or really old thick grease. IDK. I love hashbrowns, they're really hard to mess up! They're literally the easiest thing to make! The bacon was dried out and over cooked like they were pre-cooked then reheated in the microwave. I just have really nothing good to say about their food, but the girl behind the counter was friendly. I would NOT recommend eating here. I wouldn't even give it to my neighbors dog. You gotta get your Coney(No Onions) or with onions if you are into that sick taste. And you gotta get chili cheese fries! Drink your pepsi(the only coke sold here comes in white powder form usually in 8s or teeners) threw a straw as to not get any sores from the not so clean cliental. If you are there for breakfast(served anytime), it is good too! Oh yeah, this place is only open 24 hours... unless there is a shooting. They will close up until the police give the okay. You've gotta yell across the room at them if you want a refill or something to go with your meal, they're used to it. The food here is good but not too greasy, which I love. It's cheap, like a double bacon cheeseburger is about $4.00 and it's delicious. They serve breakfast any time, too. Free refills on pop and coffee, can't forget that. It can be chaotic and smokey. Sometimes I will just order that. I've never had a disappointing meal here and the portions are right. Coney Islands are a Michigan Phenomena that I wish would come to San Diego. On a recent trip back to the motherland, I was informed that I "had to" stop at DCI, just to experience it. The 24 hr establishment not so different than any other CI in MI. In my formative years I spent a lot of time at Walt's CI in Waterford and honestly the food is pretty much the same. Deliciously satisfying after a long night of bar hopping and causing trouble. I opted for the coney dog. A slim greyish thing covered in delicious chili, very similar to the Hormel stuff in a can you can buy at your local grocery store, except it's a bit meatier. A slim line of yellow mustard and several chopped onions topped it off. On the side we had chili cheese fries, hot crinkle cuts topped with shredded melted mild cheddar, and the same chili that was on the dog. Walt's (before they closed) used to use waffle fries which I think were a better option, despite the occasional cough drop found in the mess. Dix accepts cash only, and I hear it's pretty sketchy at night attracting all sorts of weirdos. A few years back the cook was murdered while working so they say. But it's cheap, filling, and the food is served hot. Be careful if smoking bothers you....MI still allows smoking indoors in restaurants, and my non-smoking booth shared a backrest with a smoking booth. I guess it adds to the ambiance. read more

So sad. Great server but horrible food. Ordered breakfast for myself bacon was burnt to crisps. Friend ordered Chicken pita had hair in it. I ordered some soup for my son which was the beef and vegetable...immediately half way through he pulled out a chopped bones out of his mouth..... beef was ground beef!!! So confused we just got up and went to pay our bill we didn't choose to complain we just wanted to go home. After that everyone had to rush for the restroom food felt like it messed with our stomachs. Everyone was sound asleep until about half hour ago everyone has been puking. We ate there last. Very rude and in attentive wait staff. We showed up this morning for breakfast, the place was full, so we stood waiting for 20 minutes for a table. Just when a table was finally being cleared off, a group of three loud mouthed arrogant men waltzed in wearing their Viet Nam veteran garb, and told the waitress that they are not used to waiting for a table. They then went in front of the line and took the table that we had waited for for nearly 20 minutes and the waitress and manager did absolutely nothing and pretended that they did not know - even though they clearly saw that we had been waiting there and after greeting us 20 minutes before. We stopped in about two months earlier and the eggs were very bad and thought it was just a bad day for them so we thought we would give them a second chance - and this was what we experienced the second time around. Told the wait staff about the above, she did nothing and I told them that my wife and I would not be back. I thank our vets for their service - however that does not give them license to act arrogantly and rudely and dis respectful to people. My wife who had knee surgery and had been standing in line for 20 minutes only to have these arrogant vets from Canton walk in and act as if they own the place and the manager did nothing about it. The food is just ok- many better coney islands in Detroit area! They recently have been watering down the chili I think. Everytime I eat there lately it's really thin and watery. After the bar- the service sucks! 4 of us waited 2 hrs for a chicken salad and 3 coneys with ff. when we complained to the waitress and asked to speak to the owner she said " he won't care . You'd be better off dealing with me" and refused to get him. She was defiantly drunk or on something herself she acted high as hell! she was more interested in flirting and sitting on laps than doing her job.
