    2 person - Breakfast Receipt

John Corpus, Fort Worth, TX NEW 02/22/2026 DIXIE HOUSE CAFE - Hulen DINERS BEWARE! Went in today with 6 others in our group. Total of 7 persons. Was astounded to be charged $8.95 for 4 slices of bacon. $41.77 total for two persons having (French Toast and bacon a la carte plus Hot Tea, also a Two Egg breakfast that came with bacon, hash browns, biscuit-gravy plus coffee)is overall quite extreme, considering the portions were small. Dixie House Cafe prices are equivalent to hotel/room service pricing, without even offering a rewards program. *A supplemental fee is charged if you are paying with a debit and/or credit card. It was confirmed by Manager, Courtney that the prices will be going up in the next few weeks. Ask for a receipt and compare it to your statement as price adjustments are not forthcoming and overcharging has occurred. I for my part will not be returning as prices go up on the weekend compared to weekday pricing. Make sure to look at their price list before you put your wallet on the line. *In Texas, it is illegal for businesses to impose a surcharge or extra fee on customers for using a debit card, according to the Texas Business & Commerce Code Section 604A.0021. Unlike credit card surcharges, which face legal uncertainty, the ban on debit card surcharges remains in effect and enforced. Texas State Law Library (.gov) Prohibition: Merchants cannot charge a fee for using a debit or stored value card, even if processed as a signature "credit" transaction. Penalty: Knowingly violating this law can lead to a $500 civil penalty for each violation. Reporting: Consumers can file complaints regarding improper debit card surcharges with the Texas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. Exceptions: The ban applies to most retail transactions, but it does not apply to certain state/local government entities or private schools. Credit vs. Debit: While a 2018 federal court ruling made it difficult to enforce Texas's ban on credit card fees, the prohibition on debit card surcharges specifically remains strongly in place. Texas State Law Library (.gov) Note: Some businesses may mistakenly apply credit card surcharge rules to debit cards, which is still a violation of Texas law. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!

The prices at this place are OUTRAGEOUS!!!! $9.45 for ONE BISCUIT!!! $5.25 for one egg! $10.95 for 4 pieces of bacon!!!!!!! This is disgraceful! We're aware prices have increased but $11 for 4 pieces of bacon?!?!?! IHOP still only charges $3.79 for 4 pieces of bacon. Vegetable plate starts at $7 for ONE SIDE. The food is also just average diner breakfast food, absolutely nothing about this place makes it worth these prices!!

Roast beef w/brown gravy, cooked carrots & potatoes. Old Corn kernel's Advertised Spinach. Thick Pancake, Crunchy CFSteak w/White Gravy.

This is the second time within the last month and a half that we have eaten at Hulen Dixie House. The first time the service was bad the food was so-so and the prices. Oh my prices were shocking!!! Tonight, we went to Dixie House and I ended up getting the roast beef with carrots and potatoes, okra, and spinach. Oh, and a roll. The roast beef was OK. The carrots and the potatoes were cooked in a different sauce than the roast beef so the two juices together with the gravy on the plate did not work it was semi salty. The okra was like eating a raw deep-fried, medium, hard, carrot or tomato it was disgusting. I don't know what it was. So, I asked if I could have carrots instead and I wasn't thinking cause I didn't want carrots I want to corn. The waitress said we don't serve carrots and I'm looking down on my plate going hmm carrots already comes with my roast beef meal but OK. I said no I actually wanted corn. Got the corn the flavor was good but it had been cooked all day so it wasn't fresh and the kernels were turning really kind of old & waxy. When I went to eat the spinach, I was thinking...oh good some good, good spinach, not thinking it was turnips or some sort of greens. IT WAS NOT SPINACH as Advertised...There was no doubt about It. It had a sour funky taste to it. It wasn't that it was turnip greens and it wasn't that it was mixed greens. It was just ___ don't eat ! So I Stopped Eating ! That was a $17 experience that I don't want to have again. My husband had the chicken fried steak with eggs, grits and a pancake. The eggs were way over cooked, the chicken fried steak was crunchy with the gravy, the white gravy, but the steak was not seasoned. It had no taste. The pancake was crunchy on the edges. Kind of good, but it was way too thick. We have determined that we are not going to spend approximately $20-$25 per person at Dixie House again we would rather drive and eat at the Dixie House in Bedford off of Airport Freeway (we live over here near Crowley) and it's just I'd rather spend the gas money driving rather than it this horrible food again. We keep hoping that this Dixie House Café would perform and Koch like the other Dixie House is in the metroplex. Unfortunately, this is the one that should close not the others.. It's sad we lost those!! Hulen we've tried several times within the last 6 yrs & it fails every time.

What a great unassuming place! Came here for brunch with a friend and will definitely come again. The service was exceptional. Lots of people coming around making sure coffees and waters were full, food was good and making sure we didn't need anything. Considering they were very busy, it didn't feel like we were neglected in the slightest. All the food at the table was good, substantial serving size, and everyone cleared their plates. My friend loves all the omelets here and I had the amazing cinnamon roll. So huge and yummy!!! I look forward to trying one of the pies in the bakery case. If your looking for a casual relaxing place to eat I would give this a try. See you there!

This was only the second time to ever eat here, and it was a good experience. A friend invited me to lunch, and this was the place of choice. Down home Southern cooking, which reminded me of my favorite eateries in Houston. The food tasted as if it was from scratch, just like Grandmother would prepare. Don't pass up an opportunity to eat here. The service was fast, and the food delicious!

Love homemade food and home made desserts!! Love the chicken fried chicken and the pot roast it's to die for!

Wonderful food. Terrible customer service. Apple Maps shows that the establishment closes at 8:30 p.m There's also weathered sign that indicated they close at 8:30 pm. My mom and I walked in at 7:50 for dinner and were immediately greeted by "we close in 10 mins" I explained that Apple Maps shows them closing at 8:30 Two servers were combative and said "well we close at 8:00" I informed them that the web should be updated. We proceeded to stay and have dinner. Food was warm but the service was cold.

Great gravy and sourdough roll. The rest wasn't even average.

My wife got the Ragin Cajun Club and could only eat 1/4 of it because of the abundant portion sizes. She also got onion rings that went great with the ranch. I got the Cajun Pork Chop and it might have been the greatest dish I've ever eaten. It's served on a helping of the cheddar grits with andouille gravy and creole fried eggs. It's like an explosion of savory Cajun goodness with every bite. The right amount of spice. Runny yokes with the gravy and grits and a bite of lightly breaded pork chop. I had been there once before back in 2016, though I do not remember if it was this location or another one, and I do not remember what I ordered then. In any case, it was nice to go back and try it again. This time, I ordered the TX Hot Chik'n. The sandwich was crispy and flavorful, with a good mix of BBQ and buffalo sauce. The pickles, lettuce, mayo, and sesame bun all worked well together, and it was filling without feeling too heavy. My friend ordered the Jamaican Jerk San'ich and enjoyed it. It had bold seasoning and a good savory flavor, so it was a solid choice if you want something with a little more spice and personality. The "Jerk" spelled with mayo on the bun and the backwards "R" was a cute touch. Overall, Spiral Diner had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and it is a good lunch spot in Fort Worth whether you are vegan or just interested in trying plant-based comfort food. What was supposed to be nachos was anything but. The only explanation is someone who had never seen nachos tried to recreate them after hearing a rumor from someone at a Lowe's parking lot. The "chips" were not tortilla chips. They were rectangular strips of pale, flimsy material that looked like scraps of drywall film pulled out of a new construction site. An albino drywall experiment that somehow escaped the kitchen and landed on a plate. The entire thing was covered in barbecue sauce, with some mystery white liquid poured over the top. We assume it was supposed to be queso, but it definitely was not queso. Calling it queso feels disrespectful to actual queso.
