The food is not that good there. The server doesn't come back to the table to see if you need anything. The manager is hateful. My son and I went to have breakfast on 6/20/2023. I couldn't believe how the quality of food has gotten! OMG! It used to be a great place to eat. I also couldn't believe their prices either. Can you imagine Bisquits and Grave for $11.95? One bisquit al a carte $2.95! The bacon that we got was partially cooked, the hash browns were not cooked well, the orange juice was "watered down" Listen to me guys, raising the prices will only kill your business. You can try: 2 bacon, 2 pancakes, 2 eggs for $3.99!!!!!! Coffee extra. And make a big poster and place it by the Hulen St. By the way, the bisquits are huge but they are just a lot of dough! I didn't have high expectations for Dixie house but my wife highly recommended it to me. I visited the location twice each time trying a different meal. I really like the pancakes and boy were they big I mean super huge I could not finish the three stack but maybe in the future I'll be able to take it on. The customer service is really good all the wait staff work together to serve all the tables so you can kinda just grab anyone if u need anything. On the second visit I tried the famous catfish and I'm not sure why it's famous it's pretty bland and i needed a crap of tartar sauce just to get flavor but it was hot fresh out the fryer so that was a plus. My two sides man n cheese and mashed potatoes were subpar to say the least but one plus was that the service was good and the food was hot. I'll stick to breakfast only here at this place. read more

Showed at opening at 7 AM Sunday morning to purchase 5 cinnamon rolls. Employees said she needed to check to see if they were ready and returned to tell me they were indeed ready. I used to like this place, I'm not sure if the pandemic caused the following but I wouldn't recommend this place at all. First we sat down and ordered drinks. My son got a Pepsi and me and my wife got unsweet tea. The Pepsi was out, and our teas tasted very sour like it was days old or the urn they brew it in was not cleaned in a very long time. We asked for waters and it took about 10 minutes to get the water. There was 2 other people in the restaurant at the time.... so it was not busy at all. We got our waters, then the next issue the prices.... Onion rings are I'm not kidding $11.75.... it cost almost 4 dollars to add bacon to a burger.... the prices have gotten absolutely ridiculous..... It's almost like some items they don't want you to order so they make they extremely expensive. The dinner entrees with two sides is cheaper than a large Onion Ring order, it makes zero sense. Food comes out and while my burger was ok (a little salty) my sons chicken fried steak was cold, and the sides were very bland. My sons not a picky eater and he couldn't finish. At this point we're ready to go, luckily for us the waitress brought our ticket and as she dropped off our food and ignored us the rest of the time we were there, like her responsibility as our waitress ended with food handoff... So I didn't have to ask for our ticket.. I go to pay at the register and there is a sign that says all credit card purchases have a 4% increase to them... So not only was the food EXTREMLEY over priced, there was a 4% increase to our ticket since I live in 2021 and don't carry cash. (Catch up with the times!) And now the cherry on top as I walked out there was a panhandler begging for money at the front door... Needless to say a very unpleasant experience and I will not be back. We had a large party of 20+ that needed a place to share a meal and meet on a Saturday evening. Dixie House was up to the challenge and took care of our group with military precision! I know they're known for their "big buns" but I'm a cornbread type of guy and Dixie House's cornbread is wonderful! Both my wife's and my entrees were delicious. While there are several Dixie House Cafe locations in the DFW area....I must say I believe that this one is the best! The friendly staff always make guest feel welcome, they are warm and personable with the customers as well as with each other...if seems like they never meet a stranger. If you take time and look around the cafe you can see many regulars who seem to call this place home. Now let's chat about the menu. If you go for lunch or dinner they have a one meat two veggie special for under $10. I suggest you try the meat loaf or the Chicken Fried Steak, both are always good. The vegetable selection is always a difficult task for me, so many veggies to choose from and they are all good. I have also had their burgers and several of their appetizers. And let me say I haven't been disappointed in anything so far. Did you know they also serve breakfast all day. Yes, ALL DAY LONG!!! I love breakfast foods (especially at dinner time) and to be honest this is my favorite meal at DHC. The breakfast dishes are hardy and they fulfill the desires of breakfast aficionados within us all. The last bit of advise I am going to share is you must thy the Banana Nut Cake! Words simple cannot describe this cake. To say It's Good...just seems to fall short of its good'ness! I often buy a whole cake for family holiday meals and it is always the first dessert to be eaten. After much thought I decided to go with 3 stars. I have always liked Dixie but today I was disappointed. I had what I thought was going to be scrambled eggs. A piece of sausage a piece of bacon a biscuit with gravy and some potatoes. Instead I got what looked like barf on a plate. I am not a stranger to barf on a plate but I just want ready for a mountain of breakfast. Everything was probably cooked separately and then chopped by Beni Hana and then hidden under a blanket of white gravy. I made a brave attack at this mess and then realized I would not win. I gave in and picked out what I liked. I left the rest for the waitress to drag back to the kitchen. I'll try you again later Dixie. If you're looking for gourmet food, don't bother eating here. If you're looking for good, down home comfort food, this is the place. We come here often just for breakfast, and sometimes just for pie. They have an awesome menu with a great assortment of American foods, and breakfast is served all day which is awesome for late weekend risers like us. The pie selections are insane - the cheesecake, the meringue, the banana split pie...all absolutely worth every sugar-laden calorie! As for the breakfast, I love their chicken fried steak and eggs. I'm very picky about my CFS since I make a pretty mean one at home, but theirs is almost as good as homemade. Lightly breaded, not too heavy, tender and very yummy, slathered with country gravy that is equally delicious. Also good is the Dixie Skillet - biscuits, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, bacon smothered in that same gravy. The portion is huge so don't attempt unless you're ready for a wheelbarrow to tote you out and a serious food coma! Items not so noteworthy- grits, sliced tomatoes and raisin toast. Chicken fried steak was great, mashed potatoes were a bit bland, spinach was more liquid than spinach in the small bowl but you can taste that at least salt was used. The gravy was flavorless. I asked for water, no lemon, when I came in and received water with lemon. I also asked for unsweetened tea and never got it. I saw my waitress twice once when she took my order and once when she brought my food, sans iced tea, and my bill. She might have been the one to take my plate, but honestly she couldn't be bothered to make sure everything was okay with me so I didn't feel the need to spend the effort recalling who she was. I'd come back for the chicken fried steak again, but I'll probably take it to go. At home I don't have an expectation of service. You ever visit an establishment, check the star rating on Yelp and notice your jaw drop? That was my experience this weekend when I visited Dixie House Cafe. After checking in on Saturday morning, I opted to read through some reviews to see what my peers have to say about the place. Needless to say, I was shocked. This place has apparently garnered quite the bad rap here on Yelp. But I'm here to try and clear up some of that muck now. The Food My fiance and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs breakfast combo as well as the French Toast breakfast combo. I've been searching for quite some time now to find a good Chicken Fried Steak breakfast option. Given I live in Fort Worth, that shouldn't be a difficult task. But it's proven to be a greater challenge then expected. I'm very happy to say that this place lived up to my expectations. The Chicken Fried steak was cooked perfectly and the gravy was provided on the side to avoid potential sogginess. The eggs were cooked over easy, as requested. The hash browns were good and not overly greasy, which I appreciated. My fiance enjoyed her french toast as well. So were pretty happy with the food. The Service We were blown away by what seemed like an effortless, yet flawless team of waiters and waitresses. By the time we were seated, we already had somebody inquiring about drinks. Between then, we had two additional waitresses check on us about our orders and comfort levels. All of the waitresses that visited our table were very nice, upbeat and full of menu suggestions. We took a while to make up our minds but that didn't bother any of the staff whatsoever. The Setting I'm not sure what I was expecting when I stood outside of the Dixie House Cafe but it wasn't what I found when I got inside. While the place does seem to cater more to your older clientele, it was still very refreshing and clean inside. I could actually see them loaning the place out for parties on occasion if they wanted. The Cost I rarely go over the cost at places, as I feel you can get an idea from the Restaurants page. But I see a lot of complaints about the price at Dixie House, so I want to give my two cents. My fiance and I both enjoyed very filling breakfasts for under $24. While that isn't dirt-cheap, it's most definitely not over-priced or expensive by any means. Comparing this place to the House of Pancakes or Denny's is a serious slight that I couldn't agree with. If $12 per dish is too much, you're likely better off visiting a place like McDonalds for your breakfast. In my tl;dr version, Dixie House Cafe provides really good home cooking and great customer service for a fair price. We'll be back. read more

This café is in a shopping center on Hulen Road. It's right next door to Half Price Books and Marble Slab Creamery. When you enter there is no host stand but there is a big sign on the wall telling you to wait to be seated. I was there about 45 seconds when someone quickly popped up from around the corner to take me to a table. The restaurant is big, dark and undecorated. The servers are very attentive. I was checked on by three different ones. Now about the menu. This diner assigns each day of the week specific vegetables for the side items. Don't try to order a Friday item on Wednesday. It doesn't work like that here. I ordered the Wednesday $4.99 special. Chicken fried chicken with 2 sides. Drinks are extra. Ordering the special was a mistake. The food came to the table super fast because it wasn't being freshly prepared. This stuff was definitely in heating pans in the kitchen. The gravy had no flavor at all. You might want to add a dash of salt if you order this. The green beans tasted like they were straight out of the can. They weren't seasoned at all. The broccoli is mushy and wet, they don't steam or grill like some restaurants. I am so disappointed in Dixie House Cafe. We have been going there for at least 11 or more years. Mostly breakfast. Today was my 60th birthday and my family meet there (some from out of town) to surprise me. But the biggest surprise was the 188.44$ ticket. I always get one pancake, one egg, and bacon. After much discussion we realized the waitress wrote it down À la cart! Everyone's. Now there were 12 of us but it would have been nice if we were told that it would be cheeper to just order the combo's. I talked to the manager and she couldn't find the ticket and she was so sorry. I said, " 6.00 for an egg?!" She said, "no it is only 3.75. I'm really sorry." She never was able to find out tickets. And so not to keep my guest any longer, I left. Unresolved. Where to begin - coffee was bad, not hot and tasted as if they didn't use enough coffee grounds or they ran the coffee through a second time. The scrambled eggs were cold not refrigerated cold however clearly had sat too long and we're not even warm, also they had not been thoroughly scrambled so there was white parts all through it. Breakfast was mediocre related to taste, I think the only thing I could give a four-star were the pancakes, however one was slightly burned. They had laid the other pancakes on top of it so until you actually started eating it, you didn't know. It was lunch time and they were busy however I expect a restaurant to prepare for that. Used to go to this place a lot. They did quality and service right! I don't know if they got a new cook, but what a disaster. Ordered the combo with scrambled eggs, hard. Received a raw on the inside chopped up fried egg. Bacon so undercooked it was wet and floppy. The big biscuit they pride themselves on? Undercooked. All in all, a pretty disgusting breakfast. I ate some hash browns and the top and bottom of a biscuit. 2 of those specials, which my husband ordered one too, also grossly undercooked, was $33. Had to go get my own condiments, so not what I'm used to at all as far as service wise at this place. I don't know what's happened there, but it's bad. I knew it might be a bad sign that there was hardly anyone there for breakfast. That place used to be packed with a wait, and it was worth it. Well been here many times, dine in and take-out. The price not bad, since they have a special which we most of the time order their chicken fried streak. Which can be a hit or miss, which a little season won't fix. The portions are huge and the sides are good from butter corn, mash potatoes, mac and cheese (my favorite), etc.......
