To all the negative reviewers, this place has the best food I have had in a while and you know due to Covid there is a wait staff shortage so give them a break this is the only late night place in town food is served to 11 bars open till 2 AM..find Alex the bartender, she makes the best green tea shots. I have enclosed a picture of her she's the best bartender there and we had a fantastic time three nights in a row and being as it's the only late night place in town I recommend it. I had a blast every time I went there...every food item i had was delicious. The people who went here were very friendly I love the place the waiters and waitresses and bartenders all had a good time and made everyone feel great there's nothing bad that I can say about this place at all!! The front desk at Hamilton Inn suggested this place as they deliver right to the room. They deliver right to the room without wearing a mask. That's right. They believe the paying customer does not need to be afforded the comfort of their food delivered by an employee who exudes safety and courtesy. We paid $110, not including tip. It's too bad we couldn't add the tip after the very lackluster meal. Otherwise I would have left 0% instead of the 15%. I normally leave a default 20%, but the whole "Imma deliver your food without any care or any recognition that we are in the middle of a global pandemic" bit is why I left 15%. * The burger bun was cold and hard. If bland is a flavor, that is the flavor of the burger. * The chicken tenders had the look and the taste that they were stolen from an elementary school kitchen. * The pizza was under cooked and had the personality of a wet cooked noodle. There was around 48 ketchup packets (lost count after the pile collapsed and spread), and zero barbecue sauce like we requested. * The Bavarian "pretzel" was actually pretzel bites that resemble the frozen microwaveable pretzel bites you get from Meijer, and served with insta-cheese. The beer was decent. Nothing great to write about. My mom and I had lunch here while on vacation about 5 years ago. When we returned to the area for another vacation, we decided to eat here again. Wanting some local fish, we shared the perch dinner ($20). 6 big fried perch filets, seasoned red potatoes, and dinner rolls. Lemon and tartar sauce graced the monstrous portion. The fish was freshly fried, hot, crispy, and delicious; and the red potatoes lightly seasoned and tasty with a little butter and salt. We didn't think we would finish this, but we ate every crumb. The saloon is very Northwoods, and decorated with graffiti from years of customers- including mine! From their advertising, it looks like they also have live music. read more

This is the worst fish n chips I've ever had. Overcooked fish was fried in the same style batter as chicken strips, not the proper flaky batter, fries were obviously several hours old and chewed like leather. The service was equally bad, waitress was slow & didn't bring something I asked for - had to get it from the bartender guy who she had her paws all over for a lot of the time she should've been helping her tables, oh yeah, and nobody wants to see you politically oriented facemask while they are out to dinner (for whichever side you're on). This place is so awful. The whole place feels dirty thanks to the graffiti everywhere. We were put in a wobbly booth, and told to park our stroller under the stairs. Our waitress never once smiled, I ordered my son the kids Mac and cheese and i said "with fries". It said kids meals come with fries and applesauce. She brings just the Mac and the cheese. I said the kids meal is supposed to come with fries. She said "oh, I can add on fries for you". No, it shouldn't be an "add on" they're supposed to come with his food. I didn't feel like waiting for them so I said no he can just share mine. I had the chicken strips basket. Chicken was alright, but $15.99 for some chicken strips and fries is disgusting. Go down to DQ and have it for half the price in a cleaner restaurant. Our waitress looked like she was either depressed, didn't want to be there, or just hated her job. I got barbecue sauce with my tenders. Had to wait forever for her to come check on us and then I asked for ranch. She brings me a packet of ranch salad dressing, not a cup for dipping tenders... my husband had the breakfast and it was awful. He barely ate half of his food, he didn't like it at all, and my son's Mac and cheese was microwaved salty left over Kraft. Took forever for her to bring us our bill too. One guy at the bar was so drunk he was slurring, yelling and swearing at his friend, causing issues with the girl next to him, and could barely function. We arrived kind of later in the day and there was still a wait because of the COVID capacity restrictions. That's fine. We got seated pretty quickly because we wanted outdoor seating. Overall, service was slow. We asked for a drink menu, and it didn't include the beers. You had to download an app to get a list of beers. Even though we were outdoors, the server was not wearing a mask. It didn't seem like a lot of the workers were wearing one. The service was incredibly slow. She was friendly and nice but just very slow with things! The beers took a while to arrive and the wait for the food was longer than it should for burgers and a meatloaf. They never gave us silverware so we had to ask for it and were left waiting to eat because we were waiting on silverware. The food was just meh overall. My burger was overcooked. (I asked for medium and it was well done). I didn't ask for a new one because I knew it would take forever. The burger was not seasoned and just didn't have any taste. Save your money and eat somewhere else in Mackinac City. Everything we ordered was dry and the side of fries that is $4.25 a person was a shock. Never did our waiter mention it was an extra $4.25 as he asked "do you want fries with that?" The bathrooms rival a high school in their cleanliness and wall decor. First time here. We were a bit hesitant because of the low ratings in yelp.... but we wanted a sit down restaurant close by , so we went in. SO glad we did ! The service was awesome, our waitress was super attentive, sweet and went above and beyond. The "manager/owner"? Came to our table and made sure we were happy and joked around with us a bit. Waited over 2 hours for our meals with half even missing! The burger tasted like it was pulled from the depths of a deep freezer, with meat purchased from Costco before going out of date. The burger had absolutely nothing on it. I guess I shouldn't complain that we were seated 3 feet from a stack of smelly empty beer kegs, this is after all a "saloon". But... the restaurant was only half full, why would you choose seat people there? The finish on the tables made them sticky, even though I know they were clean. The wait staff was extremely friendly and apologetic as they explained for the 5th time they weren't sure why the food wasn't out yet. The burger was done well, the fries were very tasty. The whitefish was bland and soggy. The warm and heat expanded cup of tarter indicated that it lived under a heat lamp too long waiting to come out. When I asked for a new (cold) tarter it was cheerfully brought to me, but it tasted bizarre. While the writing all over every surface initially was interesting, the longer we were there the more it felt like a truck stop restroom. The profanity written on the ceiling was out of line for an establishment that allows children inside. The food was ok but significantly overpriced. I ordered a 16.99 burger only to find lettuce or tomato was extra. The bill for four people was over $100 for a few cups of coffee , waters, burrito, burger, chIcken strips and a couple eggs. Traveling in April not many choices in Mackinaw City. Two of us ordered 17.00 burgers that came with chips only. Fries additional $4.25. Extra charges for cheese lettuce and tomato. It came on a cold onion bun fresh out of a bag. The place is filthy. Tables hadn't been wiped down, inside of windows, floors, chairs etc. filthy. From the last time we stopped there a few years ago, the place has gone decidedly downhill. To top off the experience... Presented with a Sharpie at the end of the meal to right on the booth, table, chairs?! SERIOUSLY! ....Classy. Was a beautiful bar/restaurant, furnishings at one time. Sad. Some friends and I met here on way home from the UP. My friends pulled pork sandwich had a whole bone in it! She only ate half. My salad clearly used bagged Romain lettuce. It was slimy and lacked color. I added avocado to my salad and it was frozen. A frozen icy avocado that cost me $1.20. I got a side of fries and they were average frozen fries smothered in salt. On top of the food, the service was average. The workers were nice people, but lacked motivation to actually be working. I've been looking forward to trying the menu at Oreilly's Irish Pub. So was disappointed to find out that they combined with Dixie Saloon. It's a weird vibe inside. Irish wall hangings in a dark wood saloon interior. Horrible service! I saw 6 - 8 employees but only 1 waitress. Dude eating a burger behind the bar. Lady folding napkins singing along to the hip hop songs. Dixie= country. But whatever. Barely edible food. $29 for walleye that was flavorless. Decent burger but I can grill a better one. We took a trip to Mackinaw and thought we would try a few different restaurants while we where there. We went to the Rusted Spoke our first night and thought we would try this place our second night. When we arrived we were sat pretty quickly but we sat there for over a half an hour and no one came to help us. We ended up getting up and leaving and going back to the Rusted Spoke.
