I gave it one star because server apologized. Waited 1 1/2 hours to get food, it was cold. We told server the food was cold and he went and got the manager, one bite off of my cold hamburger and a warm French fry was all that was eaten out of three meals, the other ones weren't touched. The manager believe it or not reached over and grabbed the top bun of one sandwich put it back on the burger and said it was warm, went to the next plate and stuck his finger in the bun and said it was fine and started to do the same to the next one when my daughter said absolutely not we are done and we are leaving and the manager said not without paying or I will call the police which we said go ahead so he did. We sat there and waited for police to arrive. He told us a service was provided and we did have to pay unless we wanted to file report and go to court. We said we will see him in court. Bottom line is the manager then decided to drop it after holding us up for three hours all for a power trip he was on. As long as he is the manager I will not step foot in that place again. Hmm. Where do I start? At the beginning, of course. The millennial hostess asked us how many in our party. "Two", I replied. How about you sit at the bar, she said. I prefer a booth, says I. "I know just the place!", says our hostess, with a smirk. She leads us to a crappy spot in a high traffic/choke point area near the back of the restaurant, between the main dining area and a second bar-like section way in the back. It's also near the stairs leading up to the second level. It's a busy spot. Okay. I deal with it. Until someone sits on the seat behind me that mine is connected to. The booth seat tilts and rocks an inch or two whenever either of us moves the slightest bit. Great. I'm sure I'm over thinking this, but I swear the hostess picked the worst seat in the house to punish me for having the temerity to decline her "suggestion" to sit at the bar. Our waitress was great! Attentive, friendly; had advice about drinks and menu items. We tipped her well. Food and drink: Tasty. But over-priced. And that's kinda expected for a tourist town. The food was pretty abysmal, I got the mighty Mac daddy; to start the burger itself was dry and very over cooked it was completely black and chewy, the next part of the burger was the Mac and cheese which was cold and lacked flavor like the burger, the crispy onions and the chips were both very soggy and not very great. For beverages they charge $6 for a Michelo ultra which is insane. The service was also not too great, our waitress checked on us very few times and also did not tell us there would be a service fee which I see to be disrespectful. So in conclusion I would not recommend coming here as it is a common tourist trap with overpriced low effort food that lacks taste. read more

Yesterday my wife and I went to Dixie Saloon for dinner. The place was not overly busy cuz it was a Wednesday night. They seated us immediately but that was it! We waited for at least 15 minutes before someone gave us water and a Menu. This only happened because we stopped someone. We waited another 10 minutes and no one came to take out drink and food order. We left! My money spends anywhere. The food was overpriced according to what we saw on the menu. I truly wish I could give this place 0 stars. We got in right away, but once we got in, our waitress was immediately rude, and was rushing us to order our food and drinks. I was finishing up a phone call, and she kept demanding that we order our food by asking "are you ready yet?" Three times. We ordered our appetizers, the mozzarella sticks, and then she came back about 10 minutes later to get our main dish order. I ordered the "cowboy" burger and my boyfriend got the chicken tender basket. My burger came with fries and so did his. My meal was $14? I think and his was $16? Ish. Also, the mozzarella sticks were $12. Mozzarella sticks took about 25-30 minutes to come out, and overall they were decent, the sauce tasted like the stuff I used to get in school. Once we got our main food, my burger was burnt to the crisp. Granted, I did ask for it well done, however, what I meant by that was no pink. Not for it to be burnt to charcoal. She came back around about 10 minutes later, and I POLITELY asked if I could get it redone. She then got an attitude and said "well you asked for it to be well done" and I said "yes, but it's a little TOO well done." She goes "okay, I'll ask the kitchen to redo it" I said thank you. Another 10 minutes later, she comes back out with another burger, and it was better looking but not better tasting. The burger tasted like it was a frozen patty from Walmart. I told my boyfriend that he makes a better burger. The fries were average. They weren't seasoned. Also, when you ask for any kind of sauce like in my case ranch or mayonnaise, they give you packets, so you have to ask for several. Neither of us were pleased with this service, and we will NOT be going back. Granted we aren't even from the area, and this was my first time coming here, his second time. We will not be coming back to this restaurant. Also, the atmosphere was not good. The music was BLARING the entire time, all of the bartenders and waitresses were drunkenly singing along, it was overall extremely loud, and people were smoking right outside the door on the porch, so cigarette smoke and the smell of cigarettes and weed were coming in and we had to smell it. Not to mention it's cold outside, and we eat inside to try and stay warm, but when we got sat right in front of the door, and every minute or two someone was coming in or out from smoking, or new guests just coming in to eat we kept getting the cold, smoke smelling air in our faces. Again, not pleased. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling from out of town, or even individuals who live in the area. We traveled 5 hours for a vacation, and this was the first restaurant we went to. Very disappointed and will not be back. Last thing... Food made both my boyfriend and I not feel good. Where do I begin? As others with any sort of allergy questions have already claimed this place 100% sucks! When we arrived I asked to speak to the Manager for what would literally be a 5 minute conversation to ask a couple questions and get dietary needs right. I waited for 30 minutes(they weren't busy. I was told I was looking for a tall, white man with a black hat on. While the host kept telling me in very broken English that the wait staff would check these things, I said I really need to speak with the Manager. My next thought was so you have a head chef? That always works. The young host returned without the chef and said just write down the order and they will make it. I wrote a food allergy card with the order for a Porterhouse seasoned with olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper cooked on foil medium and French fries. The host took it to the chef and came out and said the chef said they could do this. I went upstairs to our seat...now 45 minutes later. Our waiter came by, my son explained his order and handed him the card for the chef. The waiter was nice but didn't speak great English. He told us the porterhouse was "bad today" and since the meat was bad they can't serve it. He said they were told to tell people to avoid it. We ended up leaving. It just wasn't meant to be! Don't bother coming here. It isn't worth the wait or price. 1) no uniformity between staff. Normally having staff dress how they want wouldn't bug me. One hostess was in a black dress youd see at a night club while others were in ripped jeans and t-shirts. Her response was "sorry I dont know who that is bc im just a hostess" 2) wait staff didnt know what was on the menu. They do get a one star because the appetizers were really good. The customer service was trash like we were an annoyance. I ordered my drinks from the start and I ran out of all three drinks. It took forever to get the appetizers and then well over 45 mins for our food of just burgers. Than they messed one of our plates up. We had to get another waitress to see where our food was because the waitress didn't check on us and it was taking forever. Our waitress wasn't even on the floor for us to get her attention. Onto the food: my bun was so hard it was a pain to cut it in half. The burgers were alright not really anything to be like "yes I love those burgers". The drinks were really good though! I got the bill and paid it and we haven't even left the table and the waitress snagged the receipt. NEVER had I ever had a waitress come over and snagged it from me. We talked to the manager and told her about the customer service and that the food took forever. She responded that she was their best waitress and they were burgers so that's why it took forever. I am a cook myself and know it doesn't take well over 45 mins. They weren't that thick of burgers. The manager herself was just making excuses for the waitress actions because I didn't tip 20% but the waitress's actions is the reasoning for her tip. The manager just used the tipping for why the customer service was trash and I told her the tip is a result from her actions or lack of. I shouldn't have ran out of my drinks, didn't check on us, wasn't on the floor, didn't even let us know that it's taking a little longer or anything. Even when she brought out the food she just left the table without refilling our drinks or if we needed anything. And the waitress put the ticket in the computer well over 20+ mins after we ordered apparently as the manager rudely said. This was our first stop in a visit that highlighted how miserable the restaurants are in Mackinaw. We were seated quickly, then ignored for a while, then a waitress took our drink orders. She disappeared for over 15 minutes, and when she returned, she told us they were our of the beer one of the guys ordered. She didn't bring the other drinks. We figured it'd take her at least another 15 minutes to bring something else, so we left. We thought we'd try a different place, so we went to the Irish pub next door.
