Last minute decided to get my nails done with my best friend who had already scheduled an appointment with her nail tech. I don't get my nails done very often so I had just went in as a walk-in, and to my surprise it was pretty busy since it was around the end of the business day already. BUT, it didn't take very long to find them someone to help me get a full set. I thought I was going to get a full acrylic set, but I was convinced to get Gel-X instead because of what I wanted, as well as the state of my nails (I'm a nail biter). I agreed, as I do enjoy the lighter weight of the Gel-X. I then showed my tech my inspo, and gave her free reign. She nailed it. Ombre french-tip (a light pink to white) with a pearl chrome. It was stunning! I absolutely loved it! The girl next to me, who looked to me like a regular, complimented it too. I'm not a flashy girl so she kept my nails elegant and clean. I've been at a regular in this salon now. But the last two times my nail tech was Bella. She is rough doing my nails. She yanks on my hands when she needs them and pushes them away when she's done. I noticed that she works fast and not in a good way but like she's in a hurry. She is impatient and doesn't acknowledge what my inspo pic was. I was looking thru the nail colors and she just stood right to my face. I didn't even care to acknowledge she was right next to me. She also left my middle finger nail slanted. I've given this location two chances in the past week, and both times left disappointed. I came in for a simple manicure, only to be told they "didn't have time" and asked me to return at 6pm--even though the salon was far from busy. When I asked about making an appointment for 6pm to avoid this problem, I was told they don't take appointments and only accept walk-ins. Translation: walk in, get turned away, and try again later like it's some kind of nail salon lottery. You're expected to keep coming back at their convenience, with no guarantee you'll actually be helped. The lack of organization and courtesy is frustrating, especially when there are plenty of other nail salons that respect their customers' time. I have been getting my nails done at DJ for over more than a year, so I would consider myself a regular at this point. Although their nail work is beautiful, the customer service could be significantly improved. It seems as if the staff doesn't want to be there due to how they rush the nail work and how they treat their clients. It seems they forgot humans who feel pain are attached to those hands. I've had multiple encounters where nail techs push my hand away rudely while getting my nails done, or have nail techs rushing to finish, which leads to nicks on my nails. Nail techs should communicate professionally with their customers, "Let me have you place your hand here" or gently tap our hand to communicate that you'd like us to move it elsewhere. I always try to be aware when I get my nails done, too so I can have my hand ready for the next step in the process, but even then I felt like I was having my hand yanked around when needed and pushed away when done. Both female and male nail techs could improve their customer service skills and how they handle their clients' hands. They seem to have a highturn over rate, every time I get my nails done it's with a different person. I had a bad experience with a new male nail tech, he seemed undertrained, misinformed, and hostile after I asked him for a cuticle trim before my Gel X nails. He insisted it was a separate service, the gel manicure. I called the person from the front desk to clarify, and they confirmed a $8 cuticle trim is an add-on to the Gel X nails service. After this interaction, the male nail tech began to push my hands away rudely and proceeded to make me uncomfortable in how he treated my hands and how he spoke to me for the remainder of the nail appointment. I've never been more uncomfortable getting my nails done. It should be enjoyable and relaxing, and here, it feels almost stressful. Additionally, the desk where they do the nails could be more organized and clear, too. The towels they use while they do the nails look a little musty. After multiple experiences like that, I will be finding elsewhere to get my nails done that actually value customer service and respect. read more

This is my second appointment with Katie. She is super friendly, and her vibe is really welcoming. She must be the manager because she knew everyone (from clients and staff) and she answered the phone while doing my nails. She never got distracted and got me in & out within 1 hour. They also charged me an extra 8$ to trim my cuticles but didn't tell me until after she had trimmed them. Neither one of my manicures lasted even one week without cracking and chipping. The second time I went. I have been coming to this nail salon since 2020 when I first moved about a mile away. I've always been happy with how meticulous and detailed they are. As I work long hours and don't get many days off to errand related tasks done I like to choose reliable places I know. The first thing that really impressed me about DJ nails was they had a two week insurance policy for any chips for gel. While I never had any problems with chips from the gel, I did switch over to dip powder for my manicures. Again, I never had any problems. Until today. The manicurist did not cut my cuticles and then after I noticed she didn't -- I mentioned that I was wondering why she had not gotten them but started to put the powder on. She then said oh you want your cuticles cut and then I replied- Yes, she then replied back and said because she had already put the dip powder on, she would not be able to cut them till after. I said OK But I already assumed that's interesting because she's not gonna be able to cut them as I would like because now there's powder filled on my nail bed, I was hopeful for her professional expertise and opinion that it would be taken care of and the proper way. She then proceeded to finish the dip powder and basically dance around my cuticles, with the drill machine not the cuticle cutter. I already figured OK I'm gonna have to come back in one week instead of two weeks because this is definitely not how I like it but if I had been told that I was going to be charged 8$ extra for this 55$ dip powder manicure that then was 10$ more for the tips- meaning 65$ and I was still going to have to pay 8$ for my simple Cuticles? I would have asked for a regular gel manicure or left across the street where they don't hide prices till checkout. She left them dry and even worse than before because now of the machine rubbing against my skin on my fingers, it just looks ragged. Also, because she had me put my fingers in water to soak after putting the dip powder in. I assume that is why I have the bubble on the right middle finger that shows where the topcoat is coming off. In all my years, I've never had someone put my fingers in water after putting dip powder or even gel to then cut my cuticles when my nails are not fully dry. I'm extremely disappointed and unfortunately because of work, I will not be able to rectify the situation even with anther salon for a few days. I would understand if the nails were actually done correctly the price point especially with prior knowledge of the price being what it is, but for this to be the quality for what I paid for I will have to be choosing a different salon if management is not able torectify the situation and if you are coming in ask for the price even id you have been coming for years. The next thing I know I'll get a charge sitting in the chair alone as an add on. It's bamboozling at its finest. read more
