I like the addition of the fresh juicy mushrooms and the crunch of the jalapeño's. The bacon makes the sandwich pretty salty so if you're watching your salt intake, ask for no bacon. Looking for a local place to eat while passing through Emporia, and this one had great reviews and an interesting looking menu. It was amazing! As always, stellar food with awesome service. The guy who runs the place couldn't be more amazing. He cares about his customers and his restaurant and that's rare these days. It's a small owned business with huge booming flavors in every bite. This place is so good, I schedule a stop in Emporia to just eat here when I'm heading south (I'm from Kansas City). It's conveniently off a major highway, and they serve THE best shrimp po'boy sandwiches I have ever had. You can find anything your heart desires on this menu - burgers, po'boys, wings, salads, cheesecakes, pick your poison! As for the shrimp po'boy, its spiced/ flavored very well, filling, and a nice sized quantity of shrimp in the sandwich. I also remember their burgers being very good and large. For desserts, I highly recommend the Do-B Delight or the Nutella Oreo Cheesecake. Whatever you pick, you're not going to go wrong here. read more

A new favorite!!! Great meeting place between Wichita and Kansas City area. Good burgers, fries and salads on our first trip here. I had a burger named "Ol'Blue" and it was great; fresh fixings accompanied a perfectly done fresh meat pattie and lightly seasoned fries were served hot & fresh. We stopped by here on our way back to OKC from MO and we're glad we did. We were in need of a break and we were hungry so pulled up Yelp and found this little place. When you walk in, you'll find a fun and inviting space. Looks like it's a family run restaurant and you can tell that they care about what they do. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak w/ fries, couple of corn dog nuggets with apple sauce, a grilled cheese sandwich and a hot chef salad with grilled chicken. All of it tasted great and came out pretty quick as well. The Philly cheesesteak was really good. Comes in two options - 1/4lb or 1/2lb. Overall it was a really good experience. So, wow. Good wow. That's the short version. Longer version: we were passing through and had some time to get some grub. We saw that this place had good reviews. The S.O. is a vegetarian and they have two different non-meat burger options so "Yay!" (said me). A little awkward when we walked in - couldn't quite tell where we needed to order, or if we were supposed to just sit down. We found the menus and went through the options. A friendly dude then greeted us with a smile, so rare in these days and ages. He knew exactly what was in the veggie burger. Turns out they make them by hand...??? I thought all restaurant veggie burgers were frozen mass produced patties that were just reheated. Bonus. Anyway, this is getting too long. Cutting to the chase: oh hoh hoh hoooo, we has a good burgeh here don'ts we??! So good my friend. Got the Stinger, and what they do is they grill up the vegs, then put some cheese on the grill, put the vegs on the cheese, and let it get kinda light toasty and crispy on the grill side, then scrape that thing and plop it on yo burger! My wife and I both had a classic cheeseburger prepared their in their default style accompanied by a generous order of fries for $5 each. I believe this was the special that day. We hadn't passed through Emporia recently and were looking for a place we remembered from a previous visit. Unsuccessful, we turned to Yelp and the five-star rating simplified our choice. I'm grateful because we might not have otherwise reached this location or stopped if we did. My review is really a tale of 2 things. Excellent food, but horrible business model and customer service. So it evens out as a 3. I went to Emporia over the weekend due to my daughter having a competition there. On Friday I went soon as we got there for dinner. I ordered at the window, they told me it would be 30 mins before food was ready. We ran to a couple other places in the mean time, and came back 30 mins later. We got the food and headed back to the Hotel. The Onion rings here are some of the best tasting, and crispy ones I have found anywhere, however the ones I had Fri night were cold, like they had been sitting around for 15 mins while they took the 35 mins to make the burger. However, they were still crispy, which is amazing as most rings get soft and soggy when they start to cool off. I also made a mistake and ordered the Stinger instead of what I wanted (The Hornet) there was no menu at the window where I had to order, so I just went off of memory, and I remembered it was a Bee themed burger. So, when I got back to the Hotel, it didn't seem like the right burger I had my heart set on, but it still tasted good. The next day, after the competition, on our way out of town, I decided to order again, this time on the app while we were still at the competition. I ordered at 11:10 and the app said your order will take about 30 mins. So at 11:35 I showed up, they asked me to park in a parking spot. I waiting ANOTHER 35 mins there, with no employees coming out to apologize for the wait, or tell me its going to take longer. There were maybe 3 other cars that came through the drive thru at the same time, so it was not as though they were super busy. So, I eventually got my food. This time the onion rings were hot, and even better than the first time. The burger tasted great. My only problem is the long waits there, and the fact that even if you use their online ordering system that they recommend for faster service, you still sit out there in the parking lot for a half an hour or more. This is the type of place I would love to stop for 10-15 mins if I was driving through town, but knowing what I know now about how long it takes to make anything, I would skip coming here unless I have time on my hands and no where to be. So food is a 9/10 Service is a 2/10 and ordering system is a 2/10 read more
