I had to go to Emporia to take a test at the University for my graduate degree and naturally, I checked Yelp for some lunch locations. I saw that Do-B's had a 5 star rating and just had to check out the rave. This place is outstanding. I had to wait quite a bit for my food to reach the table but once it got there, I instantly forgot about the wait. I had the burnt end philly and MAH GAH, that was amazing! the fries were also delightful. I have made a point to stop here any time we are passing through town! The best thing about road trips is finding hidden gems just off the road. The worst thing about road trips is finding great places that you know you might never visit again. If I could only dine in Emporia once, I'm glad that do-B's is the place I managed to find. (Thank you, Yelp!) I honestly hope that I get another chance to eat here, if only to tell the owners thank you for the food and service once again. And maybe to have another portion of that delicious pound cake! Simple food. Burgers, fries, cheesesteaks, and po'boys. The burgers are served on thick potato rolls, the sandwiches are on Amoroso rolls. Even better, the ice cream is Bryers and is blended into delicious shakes or is served hard, so you have time to enjoy it before it melts. I might not make it back, but my boy and I will remain fans! Dog Friendly!! They have an outdoor patio and your furry friend is welcome. It was hot today and they put up an umbrella over the table for shade and brought our dog a big bowl of cool ice water. He really liked that ice water on a day like today. The food was first rate. My OMG burger was amazing, piled high with pastrami and grilled onions and cheese. The seasoned fries were good. My chocolate shake was the best I've had in months. I might go back just for another milkshake! My wife had a veggie burger and a salad. Her burger was as delicious as mine, and the salad was a substitute for fries. They were very accommodating, eager to make certain that we were happy. This is a very family friendly place. When we were there, the TV was playing a bugs bunny cartoon and they have one kids table available. They have a tree swing and picnic table out front under a shade tree! Staff is very friendly, appears to be family and seem to know everyone. read more

Visiting home and had to check this place out. I think I was here when they first opened, but that has been quite awhile. Our table had shrimp POBoys and a classic cheese steak. Everyone likes their order. The cheesesteak was worth the extra calories. Try it out. The tea is not sweet tea and that is a plus in our family. The Mexican Coca Cola is a plus for the kid. The place is a converted Dairy Queen, they cleaned it up and turned into a gourmet diner. I had the Hornet and some fries and it was a home cooked, quality food and explosive taste experience. Struggling with writing this review however felt this isn't the first time I have had this experience here and so felt that it probably isn't just a bad day or bad luck. On my recent trip I used their online ordering system. The food is great but customer service and their online system need some work. It's probably my bad for not fully reading the online ordering system - I swore I read RomIan Salad option and thought that this was a side and not as the meal. Nope its not a side but rather replaces the bread for the sandwich. So A Romain chicken fried salad with fries was $12.50??? A bit much for that - I received a total of two chicken strips in that salad. To be fair there isn't a picture that shows the item. I just have a different image in my brain of a chicken fried salad and the amount of salad that was included didn't equate to the price placed on it. I wouldn't necessarily call it a po' boy sandwich if I want it wrapped in lettuce or rather placed in the container on lettuce. But if that was all it was I probably wouldn't gripe. We placed our order at 555pm. The online system said it would be ready about 625pm. Okay, no problem - I live less than 5 minutes away, plenty of time to get the children in the car and head over after we make a stop along the way. We arrived at 625pm and pulled up to the drive thru as the email/app stated. I was told they had been slammed and were a bit behind and that it would be about another 10 minutes........ 10 minutes turned into 30 with no contact by anyone. There were cars in the parking lot, 6-7 along with us. All of the other cars left and new cars arrived after us. I think what got me was after thirty minutes I saw two cars go thru the drive thru and pick up food and yet here we were still waiting. I then saw a car that arrived after us get their food and here we were still waiting at which time I called out to the person bringing the food out and asked where our order was? He thought it had just come up!! I realize our order may have been slightly larger than most - we ordered two sandwiches and the 4 pack of cheeseburgers but did it really take that much longer than the others who obviously arrived AFTER us?!?!?!?! In the time it took for us to get our food and then get home (a whole 5 minutes away) and then get into the house pulling out the food for my kids to eat only to discover that the chicken was cold, the cheeseburgers were Luke warm, and the onion rings were cold. I have done a lot of carry out over the last year and have traveled farther with take out containers yet this was the first time our food was actually cold. If it was just the wait time I probably wouldn't have gone thru actually writing a review because the few times I went here before I have come to expect a longer than average wait time for food. Though I lived in the South and I have to say the po' boy shops I went to there never took as long as these guys never the less some places just take longer and that is expected at this establishment I have learned. What was not was my confusion over their online menu listings and then getting home with cold food. I will be hard pressed to recommend anyone going here in the future which is hard because they do have really tasty food. read more

Great food and friendly staff. Always. I quit trying to work my way through the menu e.g. try at least one of each kind of sandwich or po' boy. Too much good stuff and I finally just settled on a couple of favorites. They have Jambalaya as well one day a week. And yes, it's very good; splurge for some SHRIMP. The desserts, cookies, brownies, etc, are home made and are well worth the cost. Visiting Emporia for only the third time and wanted to find local food. Their menu will surprise you with a range of Burgers, Hot Wings, Po Boy's, and even seafood. I ate the "BCB" or bacon cheeseburger with fries. The whole process from ordering to eating home cooking and TLC. The lettuce and onions had a fresh today crunch. The bacon came in fresh crumbles and the cheese continued to melt as I ate. I never thought that ketchup or mustard would insult and burger and fries but leave it on the table. The season on the fries may be a little much for some but I thought they were fantastic. This makes a return trip to Emporia a requirement! read more

What can I possibly say about i Do-B's? We walked in with every table packed and people standing while waiting. Ordered within five or ten minutes, and then a table cleared up and we sat down to wait for our food. Our milkshakes were brought out to us while we waited (fantastic, by the way), and they were extremely accommodating in regards to my son's food allergy. The shrimp po' boy was fantastic, I was told the BCB was delicious as well. The French fries were fantastic! We also got a bowl of jambalaya with shrimp, which was great in the restaurant and when I finished it later that night. Family in town for the holiday season. We ate at Do-B's twice Wednesday lunch & Saturday breakfast, I'm a semi-regular at DoBs anyway, I love their Californian grilled chicken breast & sweet potato fries meal, this is my first review of them. I love the atmosphere, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, most importantly the food is amazing. I've only had a few things off their menu because I like them so much I rarely vary from my normal order. Their Breakfast menu is also good, my favorite is the biscuits & gravy with a half order of their garbage can platter. Yes garbage can platter, it's wonderful. My only complaint is that I wish they would give you more fries when you order a side of fries with your burger/sandwich, I will admit that I've never walked away hungry. I'm a vary tall/large person with a very healthy appetite. I will be back to DoBs frequently. read more

I came to visit Kansas from California. I searched to the ends for the best reviewed spot in Kansas and this spot was it. Honestly, this spot is dope! We ordered late night and the workers were really friendly (the female cashier was a cutie lol). Anyways, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves working there, which was great to see. The only thing was that it did take awhile to make the food. The price of the food was decent. Not cheap but not super expensive. The taste of the food was good! Perfectly cooked (medium?) patties and super juicy. The buns are nice and soft. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The fries were nicely salted. Definitely a kickass spot and will return on my next visit to Kansas! read more

During a recent outing in the vast tundra that is Emporia my team and I found ourselves with parched throats and rather famished. As the dimming sky started minimizing our options, the angelic glow radiating from our car's headlights cast it's long and opaque stare at the local Do B's parking lot. "Aye, this place be good as any" my eye-patched comrade said in a pirate dialect of a swashbuckler washed up on the shores of Australia for the last ten score years. "Yeah. Let's do it" I was able to muster, my vision blurry from a lack of sustenance for the day. The doors of Do B's opened themselves, not by a human act, nor a natural gust of wind, but as an act of God, inviting us into to a culinary utopia. Rather quickly my fellowship and I realized this endeavor was going to go down in an orchestra of thinly sliced beef, grilled onions, potatoes piled so high they be crying, and ketchup that would even make the greenest of tomatoes envious. While the staff, who largely resembled the work ethic, jovial nature, and passion of Oompa Loompas, had accidentally mixed up our order during their masquerade into euphoria, we pleasantly accepted the blunder. Now this "blunder", my dear readers, turned out to be nothing short of a godsend as the eclectic convergence of spice and salt satiated our tastebuds. Ever seen a cowboy ride a salt water orca like Shamu? We hadn't either until Do B's showed us that combining these two seemingly unfit pairs could turn out wonderous. Our jalapenos and mushroom soon played the part of Romeo and Juliet and become two star-crossed lovers in our palette of a wheat bun. Do-B's? More like Do-Please. The cheesesteak needed a little more cheese in order to get to the perfect ratio while the fries were some of the best I've ever had. If I'm ever in Emporia again, I'll definitely go to Do-B's again. I feel sorry for those sad saps that do not use Yelp. While they are trying to choke down their Hardee's "burger" on the interstate, we stopped here on our trip to KC. The service was outstanding; and the food was as good as the guys working there. The place was busy at 2:00, a testament to the popularity of joint. I say it's a must if you're passing through. They recommended the blue cheese burger. It was great! If you think everything is better with cheese - who doesn't- this is the burger for you. The onions rings were not from frozen bags. The food was pretty good but only slightly above average. The service however was incredibly slow. It took over 45 minutes to get our food and while it was busy, it was not that busy. Had the cheesesteak and it was really good! Opted to add jalapeños - solid choice! Fries have a seasoning I can only imagine includes crack because they are completely addicting. A friend chose the buffalo salad and we were all surprised at the quality of greens it included - very good mix of spring greens.
