Went in for a routine oil change. Dobbs called me up and tried to tell me that my two front tires had the cords showing and that I needed to purchase two new tires. I told them that I had recently purchased 4 brand new tires, they then said that I needed to sign off on a waiver because my tires could explode at anytime. The man, named Andrew was quite rude, and kept pressuring me to get it. I told him no, and that I would take it to the shop where my tires were put on. I took my car the same day to the shop that put on my tires to double check. The mechanic sent me pictures of the tires that were fine, and told me that the people at Dobbs are lying. They try and take advantage of people just to make extra money. Do not give them your business!!! read more

It was 33 minutes from the time we arrived to when we pulled away to continue our road trip. Quoted one price and was charged a second. They added shop charges and said it was government mandated charges. When I told them they removed this charge on my other vehicle, they refused name tile me I should "read the contract" before signing it. A $16 questionable charge and then"attitude " exhibited has cost Dobbs all future work on all three of may cars. Not sure that is good return for Dobbs. read more

I was having trouble with my car starting. I had battery checked by 2 different companies and was told my battery needed charging, but it was still good to go. After my car failed to start for the 3rd time in 3 weeks, I took car to Dobbs. They checked battery and said it was ok, but with the sub zero weather expected, I thought it prudent to get new battery. Dobbs checked starter and alternator and reported they were in working order. Instead of trying to up sell me unnecessary services and parts, they simply did what I asked and put new battery in without the usual wiper blades and air filter pitch. People there were friendly and courteous. I'll probably go back. read more

OK our truck, 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500, with only 109,000 miles, brake lines went out and I needed all four replaced. We were going down Manchester when the brakes went to the floor, so I pulled into Dobbs that was close by and after looking at the truck they told me that all the brake lines were leaking from rusting out. I asked how much to repair it, and after getting back with me a couple hours later they quoted a price of $2300.00 We had already looked the price up for doing this with $1000 being on the really high-end and they wanted to charge 2300. Needless to say we had our insurance company tow it for free, to another business and get it done for $742.00 My truck runs great and the brakes are working great , they even replaced the old brake lines with more rust resistance brake lines. Very dishonest location - they deserve zero stars, but that isn't an option on here. I took my car in to have my tires rotated and balanced and needed air since it was the first cold day and the light was on for low tire pressure. I called to make sure they could fit me in first, and they said they could get me in if I left the car with them. When I picked up the car, I found it in the exact same parking spot, and the low tire pressure light was still on. It stayed on the entire 20 min drive home. When I got home, I decided to check their work. I check the tread with my gauge and found out the back tires were 10/32 and the front was 8.5/32 and the tire pressure was reading 29 lbs (the limit to trip the light is 30 lbs). If they had rotated the tires like they said, the lower tread value would've been on the rear tires now as my car is front wheel drive. They completely LIED about doing the work. I don't even think they started the car and moved it, because if they did, they would've saw the low pressure tire light and knew they would get caught when I saw it was still on. To make matters worse, they close at 7pm on a Saturday...they called me at 6:09pm to tell me my car was "Done" even though they knew they hadn't touched it. They could've used the remaining 50 minutes of business to actually complete the work they were supposed to. I guess they decided to go home early. This might have been a free service, but it was not free to me as I had to spend gas money and drive 20 mins 4 times during the picking up and dropping off of my car to get the work done. I feel like they owe me for my gas spent. Now I have to find a new place to go and spend gas money and time all over again trying to get my tires rotated. VERY ANGRY CUSTOMER! read more

Got my safety and Emissions checked and my serpentine belt replaced by Dobbs Tire and auto at Manchester Road and Hwy 141. Got my car back making an intermittent fluttering noise that was not there before I dropped it off. They said it was the air compressor and that it was a "coincidence that it started doing that." The coincidence is that you messed up the air compressor when you replaced the belt. The store manager refused to give me the district managers name when asked. The cost to repair the compressor is over $700. This place of business is a scam. Do not go to this location. read more

Rip-off! I found the employee I worked with to be your stereotypical sleezy car mechanic. I ran over a bolt and got a flat tire- I usually go to World Wide (they are fantastic) but I needed my tire replaced that day and WW was booked for the day. I told the guy at the front desk at Dobbs what happened- he glanced at just one of my tires for literally 1 second but never cared to look at the tire that actually needed to be fixed. Without a second (or any) thought he said that all 4 tires needed to be replaced. He quoted me at $611 or $495 for all four if I wanted to save some money, which I thought was weird because my car isn't even 2 years old. I thought that was ridiculous so I brought my car to World Wide. I had to wait till the next day but they confirmed my thoughts and said it was absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary to replace all 4 tires. They patched my tire so I didn't even need 1 new tire, and it only cost me $15- saved me $600. I will never go to Dobbs again. read more

Until today, this Dobbs has always had friendly, and helpful people. Today however...was terrible. Sadly I don't know the guy's name, but we took my car in to find out why the tire pressure light came on, shortly after buying new tires here. The man was downright rude. Lecturing and chewing us out about how this happens when temps get lower and tires should be checked monthly. In my many years of driving (same with my mom) this has never, ever happened. He said the light would go off, and it hasn't yet. I won't be returning here. Maybe management should be the one giving lectures to their employees about not being so mean for no reason. I'm back for a second review of Dobbs in Manchester. 7 months ago my son got an alternator for his car. Well, it was a bad alternator that went out this week. Needless to say, he had several electrical issues. We went to our regular mechanic and we were told it was a cheap alternator. My son went back to Dobbs and to their credit they replaced it for free. Why they use cheap auto parts is beyond me. Again, I've learned my lesson and will never use this Dobbs. read more

Then I called the manager and asked him how much it cost to put a tire on ? Terrible place. They don't know what customer srrvice is. Pulled into this Dobbs with a tire rapidly loosing air. My husband went inside to ask for help and was told it would be 2 hours before they could get it fixed. Meanwhile the tire went totally flat in the parking lot of Dobbs. So here we are sitting in Dobb's parking lot changing a flat tire. Nobody offering to help until I get up and I'm holding the tire so my husband can adjust the jack. I took my car in for a stuck window and oil change and was informed that my car, a mini, would need transmission service they couldn't perform. I was also told that the window would require a part that, with my transmission needing work, I decided against. It all sounds terrible but they, specifically Eric and the manager, were so wonderful. They explained everything that they felt would need to be done at a mini specific location and didn't charge me for putting up my window so at least it wasn't open. Scummy experience. Pretty sure the guy screwed up my oil pan and then charged me $125 to fix it. Nobody has touched the oil pan other than that place and the last time a few months ago when I went in for an oil change. I found it odd how overjoyed he sounded that I might spend $600 dollars to replace the oil pan then and there. I see they really care about saving customers money. He wanted to put a new serpentine belt and when I mentioned I can bring my brand new one from home, he droned on some rehearsed answer about "lifetime warranty" and my eyes just glazed over. He wanted to sell his own parts and charge me an extra $100 for labor for a really simple replacement you could do yourself. I didn't even feel treated like a human being here. They won't be straight with you, I couldn't even see my car in the shop because "insurance" or something. When I drove away my car made all kinds of pops and really loud hisses like something blowing really hard and really strange noises. I was beyond pissed. Listen here guys, you drive your vehicle every day and know it better than anyone. You are not retarted like they make you feel. They are NOT conducting rocket science in the shop and it's simply too much for your mortal brain. No place should ever refuse you to see what's being done to your car. If they do take your car somewhere else where a mechanic will give it to you straight. I pour blood and sweat into my job to make ends meet and didn't come here for them to reach their grimy hands in my pocket and screw me on inexperience. While back had $1K of tires put on my car and scratched up the rims pretty badly. They took care of it like professionals but never got my rotations done there (didn't want to risk it). Recently took in to have a tire leak repair done on kid's car. They couldn't find a leak after over inflating the tire and inspection. I asked if they were looking at the correct tire, they confirmed they were. They said all the tires were properly inflated 32 psi and kept telling me it was the cold weather causing the one tire to loose several pounds of pressure per week multiple weeks in a row. Next day checked tires and they left one tire overinflated 20 pounds! Guess what, wasn't the tire they were told to look at. Didn't even bother putting the hub cap back on to match up on the stem. They didn't charge me, but wasted my time and driving that car way over the psi rating of a tire can't be safe or a good idea. I was warned not to go there but figured, "It's just a tire repair and that's their thing". Surprised by good ratings, guess I'm doubly unlucky. read more

I have had two experiences with this location. The first was great, I had a tiny hole in my tire and they squeezed me in for a quick patch (the young man who helped me - I think his name was Ben - was professional and very helpful). The customer service was great and it all went very quickly - much appreciated! However, my second experience reminded me of why I have always taken my car to the dealership. I was in need of an oil change and had recently began hearing a noise when braking. My thought was that this sound was the indicators on my brakes. I mentioned this and they agreed to take a look while I was in for the oil change. One of the front desk guys and a mechanic approached me in the waiting area saying that they had some "bad news". Unfortunately my sweet little car needed new brakes, new rotars, to be cleaned and about a million other things...totaling nearly $600. According to them I was correct in my fear of the sound being the indicators. I was super bummed but knew better than to say "go ahead and get it done" since I wanted to get any serious work done at the dealership...and I honestly felt this was a little over exaggerated. I had an appointment today (6/28/16) at my dealership (shoutout to Suntrup West Ford!) where it was revealed to me that my brakes are fine - I just need to get them cleaned and needed a new air filter, the noise I was hearing was due to the amount of dust/dirt built up due to driving on gravel. The mechanic at my dealership was quick to ask me to please come to the floor to see the car and to get a better understanding of what he was telling me. It would not take a rocket scientist to see that Dobbs had completely fabricated what they told me. My rotars are in nearly perfect condition. My brake pads are only 20% worn. It is obvious that Dobbs attempted to sell unnecessary service and tried to take advantage of someone they felt wouldn't have an understanding of what they were saying. Due to this blatant LIE I was told I will never give business to this location - or any other Dobbs - and will let everyone I know about this situation. If you choose to come to this location, or any Dobbs for that matter, please consider my experience as a warning. I was smart enough to get a second opinion - a lot of folks won't do that because Dobbs scares them into thinking the unnecessary work is a dire need - and I am so thankful I did so. read more

Took in my car for a routine tire change, nothing too fancy. The manager told me that he would call when the service was complete. I waited for some time only to receive a call about how the machine used to mount tires was broken. No big issue since I could pay for the tires already placed and come back later for the others. Went back only to find out they placed the improperly rated tires meant for the rear wheels on the front (basically making the car impossible to drive properly). Now I'm forced to wait without a car until these people fix this absolutely asinine mistake. If you need service like this on your car done, steer clear of this poor establishment and save yourself some grief. read more

I can't even begin to tell you how good my experience was with Anthony at this Dobbs location!! My son was leaving town when he backed into a curb and his tire went completely flat. Due to extenuating circumstances, neither my husband or I were able to help him. Recognizing my desperation, Anthony drove to my son's car, removed the tire and then drove back with a new one and put it on for him. He then had my son drive to the Dobbs store to check the rest of his tires and fluids before getting back on the road. My understanding is that this is not something that is typically done, which only makes what Anthony did even more thoughtful and considerate. This was easily a situation where we could have been ignored or taken advantage of, but believe me Anthony went out of his way to help us at a very reasonable price. Normally, this is something that my husband could have taken care of, so we are very aware of the typical costs involved. There are at least two other Dobbs locations between my home and this store, but I will go out of my way to work with Anthony and his team again. Five stars are truly not enough!!! read more
