The decor and vibe of the restaurant is better than the food. They offered $8 mimosas. It was okay. Nothing to jump up for joy about. We ordered the kale and artichoke dip with tortillas. After about 2-3 chips in, I was done. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but it was nasty. Flavorless. Our server was Shae. He was amazing. I didn't want to make him nervous by telling him the food was nasty. But when we asked for the check, he could tell that we barely touched the food. He was so sweet. The ambiance of the restaurant is so cute and welcoming. The bill was almost $40 for two drinks and the dip. The dip was $16. Overpriced for it to not have any flavor. This restaurant is a staple in Chicago for my wife and me. We typically eat here on every trip into the City, so when we heard Indy was getting one...we quite literally jumped for joy. We finally had a chance to stop in and give the place a try yesterday. The first thing you notice is how beautiful the place is. They did a great job creating an open air feel with an exposed kitchen that still has class. The service was a tad slow, but it could have been an off day, I won't judge too harshly as nothing was explicitly wrong with the service. The food was as good as we remembered. We split a salad to start off (brussel sprout salad) and it was more like a slaw, but still amazing. I had the short rib dish (pictured below), my wife got the California salad (add tofu) and said that while it was great, the tofu (+$8) added nothing to it. My daughter got buttered noodles off the kids menu, but did not like it because it was too plain. Unfortunately after we asked for pasta sauce, it became too spicy for her to eat. There is a lot of talk about Doc B's, and I am happy that I had an opportunity to go. The restaurant is located in the Keystone at the Crossing Mall on the north side of Indy, not too far from the Apple store. The decor is modern but warm and welcoming. It appears to host both large and small parties. I was a part of a larger party. I believe it was about 18-20 of us. We were seated promptly, as most of our party was on time for our reservation. Our server introduced herself, and everything seemed to go well. However, it was kinda downhill from there. It seemed that our server had several tables, and we rarely saw her again. She needed some help. I know that the hospitality industry is suffering from a workforce shortage, but her management team should have been aware of that and provided some help. It took a while for us to get orders out. We sat for 2 hours without entrees. Appetizers didn't take that long, but with a group of almost 20, apps go quickly. When we finally received our entrees, everything was just ok. I didn't enjoy my fish tacos much. There wasn't a lot of flavor, and it was dry. I'm not one to care about prices when I go out, but for $16, my tacos looked like they were made for a child. Some said their food was not very flavorful, while others really enjoyed their food. So, it's definitely mixed vibes. Who appeared to be a team lead or manager came towards the end of our visit to see if everything was ok, but I think it was a little too late. After we were all finished, it took a while for our dear server to return to give us our checks. Apparently, there was another large party waiting in the front to be seated where we were seated, and someone (maybe a manager) came and asked if we could basically "wrap it up" because they had another party waiting. (I didn't really appreciate that) Because the thing is, we were all frustrated and READY to go, but again, our server was nowhere to be found. So, long story short. I might give one more try because I always believe in second chances, but next time, I might just go with Hubby or one other person. I don't think they can handle large parties very well. We've been to this restaurant twice in the past few weeks and have really enjoyed it both times! Beginning with the host, she does a wonderful job of welcoming you and getting you set up at your table. The rest of the service is lovely as well. They don't have a designated children's menu, but can alter most things on their menu to be a children's portion -- which I love! So nice to have so many different options to choose from. Their buffalo chicken salad......is to die for. No notes, it's perfect. I love the cornbread croutons, the chicken, the dressing. It's the reason I went back the second time so soon after the first. My other highlight was the broccoli as a side -- wow so flavorful! I will say that the burgers haven't been perfect when we've had them -- the first visit, they were a little dry. On the second visit, they came out very rare when we had ordered them medium for our little ones. But our server and the manager happily remade them, which I appreciated so much. I was so excited to see Doc B'sc opened. I saw it going in at Christmas when I went to the mall. It had a scan code to check out the restaurant coming. My cousin lives in Fishers, and I am down by the airport. This is a great middle spot to meet. I made reservations on the open table on Saturday. It's super easy, and I downloaded Doc B's app. You earn points for dining and signing up. I requested a booth at noon. We got sat at a booth right next to the kitchen. The kitchen has a big clear glass so you can see everything. I ordered an unsweetened ice tea with lemon. Let me tell you, you will not need to ask for refills. Before even finishing one, a new one came to the table. Michael was our waiter and such a nice attentive waiter. He had lots of suggestions. Kyle, one of the managers, came by and offered his suggestions as well. Oh my goodness, talk about feeling spoiled. The soup of the day was tomato bisque with feta cheese. It was very creamy and light tasting. Not bitter at all, and I can't eat tomato soups normally. I tasted my cousins, and it was delicious. My cousin ordered the white fish sandwich. She normally gets it in Michigan and Ohio. She asked how this fish was in comparison. They said the fish is fresh and comes from Chicago daily. The Cajun is very light, and it's more for flavor than spicy. It's not spicy at all. The fish had a certain name, but she was familiar with that fish. Her side dish ordered was the Buffalo style potatoes. How they explained it, is the potatoes are cut fresh, boiled, baked, and then baked again with the sauce. I tried the potatoes so good, not her fish, but she said she loved it. I ordered the Carnitas Sandwich. How this was explained with the meat. They are very particular how food goes out to the dining area. They use the meat from the Danish Ribs. If the tub meat is cracked or not a full piece. They shred the meat and used that for the Carnitas Sandwich. The sandwich comes with pickles, come slaw, and onion ring. I got everything on the side. The onion ring was a thick cut onion, and the breading was more like a panko breading. Very light and crispy. The Cole slaw was fresh and not alot of that creamy sauce. I put the pickle on the sandwich, and it added that extra zing. My side I order the crispy jalenpeno potatoes. They are not spicy at all, the jalapeño aioli, and cojita cheese melted was just perfect. I got extra sauce on the side. After talking and catching up for a long time with my cousin. I decided to order dessert. They don't rush you at all for the check or need to leave. They have alot of really good desserts. I ended up ordering the Robs Double Decker chocolate cake without the chocolate drizzle. So get this, you can have a free glass of milk with your cake. For every slice sold in February half the money $5.00 is given back to Doctor B" American Brain Tumor Association. Along with his birthday month and love of chocolate cake. I saw that Doc B's recently opened at the Fashion Mall and was excited to try them out. I had read they had a lot of gluten free options which was true- they have GF burger buns and all their sauces are GF (including the sesame teriyaki and soy sauce!) We made reservations on open table and were seated right away when we checked in. The staff were nice. We had a server who told us it was her first day but she did a great job! I had the traditional cheeseburger - I asked for the sweet potatoes as my side & for the cheese to be swapped for the monterey jack. when I got my burger, it came with normal fries and the cheddar on the burger. i didnt want to get the burger remade so had it with cheddar which is fine, just not what i ordered. the burger was still good and super juicy- great flavor! the GF bun was as expected and fell apart easily but still delicious. They did replace the fries for me- I ended up trying some of the normal fries while waiting on the sweet potato fries and they were delicious. the server also brought out a side of their homemade mustard- it was amazing! a little sweetness and went perfect with my meal. The sweet potato fries ended up coming out and were tasty as well, but I may have preferred the regular. Only complaint (minus the meal not coming out with the changes I made) was that our server came to see how we were doing and my plate had maybe 10 fries left and she took my husbands empty bowl and put it on my food without asking if I was done. We were still eating the fries and didn't want to finish after she put the bowl on the food. Overall, enjoyed our time here and will be back to try other items on the menu! Took a shopping break and popped into the new doc bs restaurant at keystone mall! I will say I loved the the service! Everyone was so kind and attentive: the food was delicious! My mom raved about her jalapeño potatoes and her steak being on of the best she's had in a long time. She got the chimichurri steak and potatoes! The chicken littles were good too and had a lot. The honey truffle chicken was yummy - crispy and flavorful, but make sure to get a swipe of the sauce in each bite to really get that honey flavor. I decided to have a "girls night" and we decided on Doc B's. Made a reservation for dinner and when we arrived we only waited about 10 minutes for be seated.The area was a little tight near the front door with multiple groups waiting, but we were able to grab two seats since the bench by the door was already occupied. ++Side note: if you're entering through the mall, you have to walk through the restaurant to get to hostess stand. We entered the main entrance from the parking lot . ++ Our server was fantastic, but the food was not good for the hype and prices. I ordered the artichoke chip with chips and it was okay. My friend ordered the guacamole and sweet potatoes chips and it was the highlight. Then I ordered the chicken parm and it was bland and unseasoned. The noodles tasted like they were only blanched in water and then smothered in sauce. I didn't feel like having a drink, that night so I ordered lemonade and it was so tart, the drink was undrinkable. Wow. That's the only word I can think of that encapsulates how wonderful this place is. When you're in the fashion mall it's hidden between two storefronts with a lot of greenery and neon signs. Once you walk in you are welcomed with a ton of fun art and decor. We got sat right away as we had a reservation. They have an extensive menu to choose from. I got their Caesar salad with grilled chicken and it was a large portion that I just couldn't stop eating. Doc B's is a very nice restaurant. We've been here 3x and had nice experiences each time However, I was quite disappointed in the kitchen staff this time. I ordered the Cheeseburger meal cooked medium. The burger was actually cooked "well done" (more than well done). It was pretty bad (burned) I told our server that I did want to make a scene about the meal, but showed her the burger, it was awful. She apologized. Due to time constraints I didn't return it , which was a mistake. It got worse as I got into it. Lesson to self..always return a poorly cooked meal. I told her to please make sure the feedback gets back to the kitchen staff. How hard is it to cook a hamburger? p.s. after few days from writing this review, I called the restaurant to speak to the restaurant manager to explain more about the situation. Wow!! Thoroughly impressed. Just did a search of this area and this place popped up. We started with the candied bacon and it was delish! Great light appetizer. Then we split the Mac n cheese and pan Asian short rib. The potato stacks that came with the short rib were AHHHMAZING!! They were called crispy jalapeño potatoes. Yum!!! The short rib was incredibly tender. Didn't need a knife. Super delish and moist. Mac n cheese was orgasmic. Rich as hell though. So be prepared for that. Not a complaint at all trust me!! The ambiance is wonderful, inviting and classy. Service was great with a great balance of being attentive but not too much that we felt bombarded. Now my excitement about eating here definitely created a story in my mind about the experience and unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. Myself and my friend shared an order of short rib nachos (lacked meat, but loaded with yummy veggies), mac & cheese (needed basic seasonings, salt and pepper made it go from bleh to enjoyable. Though not memorable), and buttermilk fried chicken (biggest disappointment). The chicken was SOOOO juicy and tender but from the things it excelled in, the seasoning left us wondering. My Idaho trout was a beautifully done and well presented butterflied fish in a Cajun preparation. My side was a very satisfying slaw. Another had the short rib; another the salmon cooked medium rare as ordered. Perfectly moist inside with a delicate crust outside. Pricing was modest compared to similar fare.
