Every time I go into the restaurant, they always sit the same old man next to me and the entire restaurant can be empty and this old man has such an obnoxious oxygen tank that ruins my whole meal and then he is always blowing his nose extremely loud and disgusting. Stopped in and had lite dinner - beet salad, and roasted garlic/ goat cheese spread. Delicious and fresh. The atmosphere was great. Had a great live band in the Adobe Bar next door. Great service and nice atmosphere. read more

We sat on the patio, which was beautiful, however the nachos we ordered tasted like they were put in the microwave and the service was slow. We went inside to pay our bill at the front and they would not accept payment saying that we needed to pay our server- whom we could not find. Other patrons had to go to the bar to get their own drinks. Overall, we were disappointed. read more

Good when they are slow but if busy... find another restaurant in town. We chose Doc Martin's for our Christmas trip Friday dinner (12/23). They had live music that night and were busy... Understandably we expected some delays. 45 mins after ordering our meal we are told the lamb shank has been sold out and I ordered another dish. Really, I had to wait 45 minutes before you figured that out? 5 min later (that would be 50 min after the original order) our first dish is delivered to the table. 30 mins after that... that would now be 1 hr and 20 min after the original order was placed I cancelled the second dish and our unfilled drink orders. After that we walked across the street to Martyr's and had a lovely desert. read more

What a train wreck of a Thanksgiving meal! Had reservations for 4 pm and had been looking forward to a great meal. Arrived promptly at 4 to find the place in total chaos. The 3 or 4 people at the hostess stand seemed totally confused. There was no rhyme or reason to the order in which they were seating diners. Several people who arrived after us were seated ahead of us, including some with no reservations. After the fifth or sixth time of being asked our name I knew we were in trouble. When a hostess finally took us to a table she told us she had just been brought in to try to get things in order, but she didn't think she would be able to do so. When our waitress finally arrived she let us know how tired she was as she had been working since opening. She took our drink order which was a glass of wine and an iced tea. In a bit she returned with a glass of tea only. Then she asked my friend if he would like something as well. He reminded her that he had ordered a glass of wine and she said, "oh, I will have to go get it." She returned with the wine and took our order. The soup and salad were good, although we did have to ask for silverware to eat them with as none had arrived with them. We finished and waited for our entrees. After awhile our waitress reappeared looked at our table and said, "oh, dear; it looks like I have left you alone too long, Would you like to see the dessert menu?" We let her know that our entrees had not arrived yet, so we weren' t quite ready for dessert. In a bit our food arrived - mediocre would best describe it. I had grouper and my friend had the turkey. I had about a 2 x 2 inch piece of fish which wasn't bad, but it was served on a big pile of stuffing that was the stickiest mess you could imagine. I'd have much preferred Stove-top. The turkey meal was just fine, except for the aforementioned stuffing. Since I didn't eat my stuffing I thought I would have dessert - surely they couldn't mess up apple pie. Wrong - it was flavorless and the ice cream was just a puddle on the plate. This meal was comparable to what I might expect at a Denny's for a $5.00 lunch special. I had checked this restaurant's rating on Yelp and wondered how it could have a mediocre rating. Now I understand completely. I wonder how many others' Thanksgiving meals were such a disappointment. read more

The previous 2 times we ate here, everything was quite good, but this time, both of our entrees were sub-optimal (there was almost as much fat as meat on my $34 rack of lamb, & my wife's salmon was poorly seasoned & had a sauce that she called "tasteless"). I was very disappointed in the service and the food. To be fair the food might have been good had it been hot. I saw my boyfriends scallop salad offer to other guests three times before it finally came out with my enchilada meal. His scallops were cold, obviously, and my enchiladas were Luke warm...argh. We sit here in our room at the fantastic Historic Taos Inn, contemplating exactly what to say about their in-house restaurant, Doc Martin's. Last night we waited over 45 minutes for our entree, and a requested beverage never arrived. But acknowledging that everyone has an "off" day, we returned for breakfast this morning. Alas, our simple order of bacon and eggs took over 30 minutes, orange juice never arrived, and neither did any butter for our breakfast bread and English muffins. The food was OK, but nothing special. That, accompanied with the simply horrendous service, results in only one star, and a warning to avoid Doc Martins, unless you don't care about attentive, prompt service, in which case it may be right up your alley if you're looking for "run-of-the-mill" fare served with "glacial" speed. On the other hand, the adjacent Adobe Bar is apparently one of the very few places in Taos with a full bar. If you're looking for a full range of spiritous liquors, this may be your best bet, as most eateries in Taos offer only beer and wine. read more

Once again Doc Martin's has changed their menu. Which is great! The Chicken Caesar Salad for lunch is awesome. For dinner they have Red Wine Braised Buffalo Short Ribs that are to die for. The service is great and the staff is pleasant. Wish they would serve breakfast all week. read more

I suspect this restaurant probably plays better with tourists than with locals. The food is OK and the service acceptable. Prices seem a little on the high side for what you get. There are easily several places in Taos that are superior in food, service and value. The bar is pretty good. read more

Used to go for breakfast all the time, but there are much better choices now. Ate here recently with friends. In New Mexico, we take the red and green (chile) VERY seriously. We got a side of red for our breakfast and it was awful. Watery and without flavor, we guessed that somebody forgot to make it for the weekend and they had to whip some up in a hurry. Yuk. Maybe the tourists don't know better, but the locals I run with won't likely eat here again. read more

Whenever we take a day trip to Taos from visiting Santa Fe,we always havelunchat Doc's.The dining room and patio are nice and the food is terrific. Our last visit on August 28 I had an elk burger,a rare menu item and it was special. What made our visit a warm one was the service from Winona. read more

A lady from a nearby shop had us heading to the bar/restaurant at Taos Inn. We were actually seated in the Adobe Bar area - we arrived about ten minutes before dinner menu was available. Our waitress took our orders, letting us know it would be a few minutes before the kitchen would get started on it. Those who ordered the enchiladas enjoyed them. A bowl of red chile was just sauce, nothing more in it??? Customer service seemed to be geared more towards customers seated in the outdoor patio. We had to request utensils, as did the lady sitting at a table near ours. She received her meal before us and after her request for utensils, it should have dawned on someone that maybe we would be needing them also. read more

Love this place. Warm, friendly and great food. My Scottish salmon over rice noodles in a chili-flavored teriyaki sauce with green pea was a creative and gastromic masterpiece (who thought this stuff up?). Excellent beer and wine selection. Efficient staff and a fun waitress. read more

Eggs benedict o don't order these. burger - they have failed on this as well when the used to be good. I don't know what happened in their kitchen but the food has declined to where I won't eat there until I hear that they have improved. I will be talking with the Food and Beverage Manager and see if he knows that the problem isn't just one local, but a number of us. read more

i had the maple tofu scramble for breakfast at the taos inn and it was really good. i had never had tofu like this for breakfast. service and staff were all really great too. plus this restaurant is located in a really cool spot in the heart of taos. all and all great place to eat and great hotel to stay at read more
