first time trying and I love everything about these. The texture is PERFECT, it's nice and soft and chewy and topped with fun flavors. The little rings allow you to pull it apart into perfect bite size pieces and makes sharing just that much easier. I was most excited to try the matcha but the flavor of that one was pretty average. Man, this place gets PACKED. I got here like 5 minutes after they opened (they open at Noon on Saturdays), and there was already a line! The good news is that the line moves pretty quickly. These babies are definitely Instagram worthy, but they are pretty tasty as well. If you've never had a mochi doughnut, they're chewier than your regular glazed doughnuts. I was expecting more of a mochi consistency (we have poi mochi doughnuts back home, which is kind of what I was imagining), but overall I was pretty impressed with how they tasted. We tried the Original Ube Glazed, Matcha Oreos, Taro Pebbles, Choco Churro, and White Chocolate with Caramel Crisps. It's $16 for a half dozen or $3/doughnut. I didn't try the Strawberry Animal Cookie, but will definitely do so next time. My favorites were the Ube Glazed, Taro Pebbles and White Chocolate with Caramel Crisps. Now that Dochi is officially at Uwajimaya and no longer a pop-up, the crazy lines are gone and more manageable. Which is nice and you don't need to plan your day around waiting in line for donuts. For mochi donuts, Dochi's has the best texture I've tried so far. They're satisfying chewy, light, and springy in texture. The flavor however was a bit of a letdown. The Macha Oreo, had the faintest whiff of macha flavor, since the icing sugar overwhelmed it. The crushed chocolate cookies, were only there for texture. Also had the Ube Glazed, which is the equivalent to a plain glazed donut, but with the mellow sweetness of ube. It's a nice donut but for $3 each, just had higher expectations for everything and wished it wasn't just all for the Gram. read more

They're only open from 11am-2pm on Thursday & Friday, and 12pm-6pm on weekends. Don't be intimidated by the long line that stretches outside Uwajimaya though, it moves pretty fast. I've been seeing everyone post about Dochi's and I have been very excited to go check them out and this weekend was that weekend! It's instagram worthy cause they also have a cute wall to take pictures at! On a Saturday afternoon, the line was long but it wasn't crazy long, and it was moving pretty fast which is nice! I was only in line for 25 mins, before I got to get these delicious mochi donuts. I ordered a half dozen and got to try out all their flavors. All their mochi donuts were pillow-ly, soft, slight chewy and light. Here is what I think of the flavors: Ube Glazed- It's a different one compared to the others, since when you cut the mochi donut, it's purple, because of the Ube. It's not too sweet, so it's perfect for those who don't like to be overwhelmed with sweets they eat. The ube flavor is very light and isn't overpowering but compliments the glaze they put. Personally, this is my top favorite! Matcha Oreo- It's great if you love the taste of Matcha. You get that slight bitterness from the matcha and the glaze reminds of a Greentea Kit Kat. The oreo's add texture to it, but that's pretty much it. Taro Pebbles- I would say this is my least favorite, because I really couldn't taste the Taro flavor in the glaze since the fruity pebbles were overpowering everything. But, the fruity pebbles made the mochi donut have a crunch to each bite! Coffee Red Velvet- THIS IS AMAZING. You can honestly taste the coffee from the glaze, and it gives you a punch because the flavor is so strong. My boyfriend told me that "it tastes like Nordstrom" and he isn't wrong about that. Red Velvet helps compliments the coffee taste. Choco Biscoff- I love Biscoff's and this one is great for chocolate lovers!! The chocolate glaze tastes soo good on the mochi donut. The Biscoff adds a crunch but it also helps elaborate the chocolate flavor. I honestly felt like I was eating a chocolate donut! Strawberry Shortcake- This one tastes artificial compared to the other ones. It's sweet and tangy from the shortcake bits. The glaze and crumble holds the donut together because thats where the flavor is at. Overall, it's okay. Final notes: You should definitely try them once to post on your Instagram or Social Media!! And also, it's a new concept, so go and try what a mochi donut is like! I personally think it is a little bit more on the pricier side for a dessert. Mochi donuts are happily introduced into the Seattle community with Dochi, located in the heart of Chinatown's Uwajimaya. The donuts themselves are quite unique; the glaze and topping is usually defined by whatever flavor it is, the donut exterior is crispy, while the interior is chewy. Wow - I had never thought of the concept of a mochi donut before. As soon as I heard of it I knew I had to try it to see what it was. And I was blown away by Dochi's mochi donut perfection. I had the matcha oreo donut, and I want to try all of the other flavors. These donuts are the perfect meld of mochi + donut. Each bite is reminiscent of part mochi and part donut. It's hard to pinpoint it exactly in words but you'll understand once you try it. It has the chewy texture of mochi, but tastes like a regular fried donut. I also love how the shape of the donut suggests the perfect bite size for you. I would say this place definitely lives up to the hype. Totally worth visiting and letting this donut change your life. The store is located inside Uwajiyama and is part of their food court, but they don't have their own seating. However there are a decent amount of tables for you to find a place to sit down and savor this donut. read more

Since I was visiting Seattle, this was the only one in the area that I found and decided to give it a try! Went on a Saturday evening an hour before closing time. Still had a variety of choices but their ube flavor was out! Very good customer service but it was juat decent but I tried better ones. Don't let my rating fool you, THIS IS A DONUT YOU DEFINITELY MUST TRY. I always love "mochi donuts" because the mouthfeel is something different. So when I heard this place was coming to Seattle, I HAD to try it! After following them on IG, I came to realize the grand opening was yesterday. I waited in line at 11:15, 45 minutes before opening, and there already was a hefty wait! But lucky me I was one of the first 50 to line up for a free dochi. At opening, I waited about another 15 minutes to get in, but that's okay, these were worth it! No doubt their stand is really cute. Colorful and definitely stands for the joy and pep these donuts bring. I decided to buy a whole dozen, getting two of each flavor. Of course I had to buy a lot to share with others. Fair warning, these donuts aren't your typical donuts, so they costed $3 a ring, with $16 for a half dozen. But, I did get a card to get a free donut for buying a whole dozen! So with tax, I ended up paying almost $36 for a dozen. Here are my ratings: 6. Matcha - I don't really get much matcha flavor from these. More so white chocolate. 5. Strawberry Shortcake - Again, more of a white chocolate flavor but a hint of tart strawberry from the topping. 4. Churrotella - Chocolate and cinnamon are a great combination, but personally think the mouth feel of a churro goes better with it! 3. Glazed Ube - The most subtle of all the flavors but it's more refreshing because the sweetness doesn't hit you like a truck. 2. Cookies & Cream - This one surprised me. I thought it'd be my least favorite but I guess you can't go wrong with this combo. 1. Taro Pebbles - What can I say? Put fruity pebbles on top of anything and you're golden. Overall, if you've had MoDo in Hawaii, these are pretty comparable to them. However, if you've had Mister Donut in Japan, which these donuts are inspired from, it's not quite the same. Definitely chewy and similar textures, but somehow Mister Donut keeps a lighter texture that makes it supreme. But I will say that each flavor is simply delightful and each is definitely worth savoring! PSA: Dochi has arrived in Seattle! With how huge the food scene is here, this place is all the rage. There are places that are just the hype, but Dochi's is definitely worth trying. Located inside Uwajimaya in Chinatown, expect a long line out the door. I suggest going early as possible when they open. Check their Instagram story for their menu beforehand if you plan to go on a certain day since they don't serve the same flavors each time, except for their Ube Glazed, which is always on the menu. CAUTION: these can get addictive. My favorite is Matcha Oreo, but all their flavors are great like Taro Pebbles and Ube Bae. So in love with its unique mochi-like texture! It's light and chewy and I like how it's shaped so it makes it easy to share with friends. Half a dozen is $16, and only one dozen per customer. Waited 30 mins in line to try this... and this is the worst donuts I've tried. It's definitely not chewy, oily, and cold like it was left out for 1 day, and the topping are nothing extraordinary. Sure it looks good from the outside but when you tried it and it cost $3 for 1 donut which is ridiculously not worth it. I bought 2 donuts to try and I really regret for spending that $6 which tasted no better than a day old donut that you can get elsewhere... seriously Saves yourself time. Perfect packaging can draw attention such as a blue box from Tiffany's. In this case Dochi designed a sea green box. People walking around Chinatown and Pioneer Square know what the sea green box contains as it's a sought after product. It's all over social media. I think it's clever marketing. I don't think they'd be as popular if they distributed a plain brown box. I made my way to a 5th Ave bus stop waiting for the next bus to bring me down to Chinatown Station. A line had already formed underneath Uwajimaya's scaffolding. It took about 15 minutes from the time I got in line to the closing of my transaction. As I walked to a 4th Ave bus stop to bring me back uptown a couple people commented on the box. One of them said, "Ohhh donuts, you shouldn't have!" with a smile. Since my office has 25+ employees I decided to cut the baby teether shaped donuts into individual donut holes. Consensus from most favorite to least favorite: Matcha Oreos, Ube Glazed, then Strawberry Shortcake. I respect the creativity behind this endeavor and current trend. I hope the employees can manage to stay warm during the winter since it's near the entrance. They might have to incorporate warm drinks into their menu once the cold season hits. read more

this place hit Seattle with such a hype. We'd thinking about visiting the place, but seeing the huge waitline and long wait for overpriced donuts, doesn't really motivate us to. But we finally get the chance to visit the place while we were in Chinatown back in late July. It was about a hour before their closing, so the line was very short (I think we were the 10th in line or something). They had total of 6 flavors, so we decided to get one box with a flavor each. I am not sure if they were running a promotion or something, we end up getting a 7th for free. Food wise, it definitely taste different than the typical donuts, especially with Mochi in it. I don't recall all the flavors, but by looking at the pictures, I remember coffee/chocolet color/flavors ones were very good, that's the ones we finished first because we were fighting for it.. (lol). There were couple of them were in the excessive sweet side, that we didn't like too much. Overall, it was not bad. But it's definitely not a ~$4/5-dollar-per-donut worthy. Went here randomly since I was in ID and was lucky there was a short line. I ordered one of each flavor just to try them all. I didn't really remember too much of the other flavors, but the matcha with oreo bits was pretty good. The crunch from the oreos and hint of matcha flavor was delicious. I like how easy it is to share each ball from the donut. The chewy texture is pretty good and interesting. It was lighter than I was expecting and made it really easy to devour a whole box of them. Honestly, I saw a post on subtle asian eating (a Facebook group that focuses on Asian eateries from around the world) about Dochi and I kind of made my boyfriend take me there haha. I really wanted to see the hype myself and try these famous Dochi donuts. Located right at one of the entrances of Uwajimaya supermarket, Dochi is a "order to go" type of stand. There was a pretty large line when we went but we didn't wait that long. I ordered the matcha oreo while my boyfriend ordered the Ube glazed (they ran out of the other ube one we wanted - sad). The flavor of the glaze were decent, nothing extraordinary though. The matcha oreo reminded me of the flavor in a matcha Pocky box. The donuts were a cute shape though and it was cool to bite into the donut and see the mochi/donut texture. However, they were $3 each, which was expensive in my opinion. I cannot imagine how this place could ever receive anything less than 5 stars. THESE MOCHI DONUT HYBRID BABIES ARE DELICIOUS! I am a sucker for all things mochi and these donuts are the absolute perfect texture. My friend told me about this brand new opening at the grocery store and forewarned me about the long lines. However, when I showed up right around 12:30 on a Saturday, surprisingly there was really not much of a line. I think I only had to wait 5 min max before I got my order in my hand. We ate them while waiting to get a table at a restaurant for lunch. Ps.
