Visited for lunch during a recent work trip to Eglin Air Force Base. I had the Bam Bam Shrimp Tacos, which were very good. There is no table service other than delivery of your order, which you place at the bar. Funny thing is that each person in my group of 9 was automatically charged a 20% gratuity for ordering our food at the bar and pouring our own drinks. I have no problem with the automatic large group gratuity when I receive regular table service but it's ridiculous to add a 20% tip for someone to deliver the food to the table. I won't come here again. There are plenty of other seafood places in this area that have better food and won't pull this kind of BS. read more

This place last night lived up to the hype! I ordered at the bar with Michelle and she's professional, knowledgeable, sweet, not an "order taker," asks you questions to match you to your desires, and caring! I ordered the Gouda Bacon oysters and went back and ordered the Soft Shell Crab tacos to go, because I was working a gig last night and on a time crunch. The oysters were incredible, not over cooked, sweet, decadent, savory, perfect consistency and size and yeahhhh, I was in oyster heaven! The Soft Shell tacos was deliciously soft, sweet and lightly crispy and those damn Cajun fries were perfectly cooked and still warm- even when I drove to my gig! Healthy, homeade ingredients lovingly prepared. If you seek this in a restaurant you better go somewhere else. I will explain.... My wife and I each ordered the $16 oyster basket. That was all we ate that day. The next day my wife awoke with a stuffed head and very bad headache which lasted for two days. I wrote the owner to inquire about the ingredients. Turns out that the entire basket except for the oysters themselves and the 3 tablespoons of tasteless cole slaw is basically a plate of mixes and chemicals. The oyster breading, hushpuppies, and french fries are all supplied by a food distributor using House Autry mixes. Here are some of the ingredients in the seafood breading they use- Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate, Natural Flavor, Soy Flour. Natural flavoring is a euphemism for MSG by the way. The owner never offered to reimburse our costs nor has she further communicated with me after my discovery of the chemicals. What kind of "seafood restaurant" doesn't make their own hushpuppies? One expects this in a cheap fast food restaurant, but here you are paying for something else. We certainly won't be going back and if you are susceptible to chemicals in your food be very wary of what you order here. read more

The food at Docs is outstanding. I have never had a bad meal here, the service is fast and the wings are beyond compare. However- I went to lunch there Saturday with my son, and the kitchen crew was playing music in the kitchen at a higher volume then the music that was playing through the speakers in the dining room. The foulest music I have heard in a while. Every word was F%ck, Motherf$@ker, B#tch, and the "N Word" for the entire time we were there. It kind of ruined the experience. Doc's is a local favorite. As a locals watering hole, with food on the side, it is likely 5 stars. My review is as a restaurant - on a Sunday afternoon, in early May. The Tom's Bayou overlook and scenery are excellent. Parking is limited, and likely to be an issue on a busy day. The limited seating is on two outside deck levels, and inside. Food orders are placed at the register/bar inside, like any fast food restaurant. The limited interaction with the staff found them to be proficient and friendly. The food. Fried seafood platter, chicken sandwich and fish tacos. The platter, at $16, consisted of three each oysters, shrimp, fish fingers and hushpuppies, all cooked the appropriate amount of time, and seasoned to appeal to most. The hushpuppies are on the sweet side, with bell peppers and onions. Fully half of the plate was french fries - which, as it turns out, were excellent camouflage for the smallest fish fingers I have ever encountered. I almost forgot the cole slaw. I either love a restaurant's slaw, or I don't. In this case, the only distinguishing character of the slaw was that it had no such property - and is easily forgotten. The grilled chicken sandwich was acceptible, and came without any mustard, mayonaise, etc. The tacos were also acceptable - and made of the familiar tiny fish fingers. All in all, the meals were acceptable, but not memorable, nor in any way positively remarkable. Ultimately, doc's is a locals watering hole. It has character and charm. So, if you are there drinking and socializing with friends, and you get hungry, you will at least be able to get a passable snack or meal. read more

Docs has some of the best sea food I've ever had at a really affordable price. If you're looking for a quick, bar-like seafood experience, Doc's is the place to be! They have a good selection of alcohol and the food here is exceptional. Way better than some of the fancier sit-in seafood restaurants around the area, and you get bigger portions of better tasing food at a more affordable price. I went to the crab shack on Ft. Walton recently and I paid over $30 for the same thing I get at Doc's for $13. Plus it didn't taste nearly as good as Doc's and the drink that I had barely tasted like it had alcohol in it. We came here actually thinking it was a different place, but glad we did. It's right on the water and the best description of it is a hidden jewel dive bar. The food was amazing. Finally tried Doc's for coworkers going away dinner and I was thoroughly impressed. Their chicken wings are massive. I loved their fries and seafood platter. They give you your 2nd drink on the house if you're Military. Overall enjoyed everything I ate here but the most memorable things were the wings and fries. My husband got oysters and he enjoyed them. All of the food was delicious and we didn't have any complaints. This was the best restaurant we've eaten at our whole trip. The food was excellent at this place. It's a nice hidden gem. We had the house oysters and oysters Rockefeller. They were both delicious with the perfect amount of spice.
