Our girls trip gals spent our last night ready for a great dinner! The steaks were amazing! However our waitress was very unprofessional and absent. We nearly spilled wine bc our table was wobbly. We asked if we could fix it but she said, "I'm not getting down there to fix that." After that it took her a good 30 mins to return and never brought my mother her drink. When asked abt the drink she said "I have 2 managers at the bar and I'm too scared to ask abt it,". When the servers brought our food we had to ask for our waitress. Great seafood meal! Our family of 5 enjoyed hanging out playing cornhole and the other yard games during our half hour wait to be seated. Once seated, service was good and pretty quick. All food was fantastic-we especially enjoyed the fried shrimp and fried oysters as both were among the best we've ever had:) For beer lovers, they also had a nice selection of craft beers from all over on tap. Second year in a row coming here for our "nice" vacation dinner and the mahi mahi is amazing again! The cheese grits and fried shrimp also were the "best I've ever had" says my husband. Hush puppies awesome, salads awesome, unfortunately I do not suggest the steak. The ribeye had pretty good flavor but not worth the nearly $50 price tag and ours was quite over cooked from the temp we asked for, which was medium to med-well. For that price, we should be able to eat it with a fork and it be juicy and tender. Just sad to say was not the case. But we will definitely be back for our mahi mahi and shrimp favorites! By now you've probably seen the planes flying overhead, stating that they have the best friend shrimp in the entire civilized world. With such a bold statement, I had to try them. They were AMAZING!!! Perfectly cooked, light, not chewy at all, with a perfect hand breaded and fried exterior. Fantastic, fresh taste and a light, perfectly fried coating. Being from Maryland, I had to sprinkle on a bit of Old Bay for nostalgia reasons, but it certainly didn't need any help in the flavor category. I just really like spicy. Not heavy, not greasy, just perfect! Hush puppies were really good, same with the slaw, and the fried crab claws and oysters were a delicious starter. Not a single complaint from our 8 person table. This is our first time at the new Docs location and it was pretty great. I eat fried fish and shrimp at just about every place we go and this was by far the best of the bunch. The shrimp was super crisp and the fish had almost a country style breading on it. Very good! The tartar sauce was amazing as well. This place is fantastic! Our absolute favorite spot from our week in Orange Beach. Great selection of draft beers, and the cocktails we tried were all perfect (especially the Orange Beach Mule!). Service was on point even though they were super busy. The kids loved the kid meals, and the adults loved theirs too. Highly recommend the crab cakes and grilled shrimp, although I'm sure anything on the menu is excellent. If you're looking for a sure-thing in Orange Beach, this is the spot to try. To top it off, they even had live music on a Wednesday. What else can you ask for?? read more

Stopped for a late lunch based on a recommendation. Seemed like a no nonsense, nothing special restaurant by the looks of it. Prices suggested more. Ordered the filet mignon ($38) with an added grilled shrimp ($7). I ordered the baked potato with the steak and was supposed to also get a side salad but never got the salad. I ordered the filet medium and it was very well done when it arrived. Waiter was quick to take it back, I scarfed down the shrimp: they were fresh and tasted of the ocean although a tad tough. I was almost done with the potato when the steak was replaced. This one was definitely cooked to medium, juicy and hot from the grill. I would have liked a bit more flavor to the steak. Definitely didn't taste like a $38/steak. Not bad but based on the prices, I was expecting more. Based on the decor, tastes about right. read more

Last year the food was magnificent! Best seafood anywhere with huge hush puppies. This year...it was alittle above average. I was disappointed it was not as good as it was last year. Not as big of fish or hush puppies but the fried fish is still great and also the coleslaw and potato salad. I would say a 3.5 to 3.75 as compared to last years being absolutely perfect in all categories! Docs is the only reason I came back here this year instead of another vacation destination. Went on Easter Sunday....and it seemed there were plenty of staff....but no one really wanted to be there and it showed. I love gumbo and try it almost everywhere I go, and will say the gumbo is one of the best I've had in the area (which made me up this to 3 stars), but it was expensive for what you get and again the service was subpar at best. I think our waitress tried so we tipped her well, but no one was friendly and I feel like they would have been just as happy had we gone somewhere else..... and sadly.... next time we will. read more
