We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

Hello, Recently me and my grandkids went to this restaurant. As soon as we got there we were took to our tables and a very lovely waitress greeted us and got our orders. As soon as the food got there, my grandson started to eat his food, And not long after he said he didn't feel good and went to the bathroom. When he went into the bathroom he went into a stall and started to puke cause the food made him sick. Over all, my grandson got sick after eating, my other grandkids didn't eat there food cause they were in fear of getting sick, and the food tasted terrible. Very nice waitress she was a lovely woman and deserves to be in a better restaurant than that. read more

Fantastic fried shrimp, live music was perfectly soothing, sweet tea is excellent, I wasn't going to eat the cole slaw but I'm so happy I did! Server was attentive and helpful and had a great attitude. The place was busy but doesn't feel crowded eating on one of the two patios. Kids were playing in the outside fenced area. It has soft string lights on the patio. Everything was perfect. We ate at several well reviewed restaurants on this trip and the food quality here is the best so far. read more

This place is very overhyped. The hostesses were rude and could care less that we were there. We dined here because we kept seeing the plane flying over the beach with their "Best Fried Shrimp In The Civilized World" banner behind it. Well, the shrimp wasn't any better than Captain D's & my Wife's Mahi Mahi was dry and overcooked. The boiled shrimp appetizer was definitely the highlight of our meal. DO NOT EAT HERE! It is spring break and my 12 year old sister has been throwing up for hours after eating cheese sticks and chicken fingers and getting food poisoning. This place is absolutely disgusting the food is awful and poisonous. THE SERVICE FUCKING SUCKS The parking lot smells like literal shit. One thing that stood out was the gift shop at the entrance--it could definitely use a refresh. The dark corner filled with outdated beach clothing isn't the best first impression. We visited on a Tuesday around 7:00 p.m., and there was no wait. During our meal, only about four tables were occupied, so it was very quiet. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked on us frequently. The only odd part of the atmosphere was that cartoons were playing on the bar TVs even though there weren't any kids in the restaurant. For dinner, my husband ordered the surf and turf, and his steak was cooked perfectly. The baked potato, however, came with an overwhelming amount of melted cheese--enough for several potatoes. I ordered the blackened grouper. It was cooked well and had good flavor, but the fillet was very thin and wasn't as memorable as other grouper dishes I've had. The whipped sweet potatoes were sweeter than expected from the brown sugar, and the Brussels sprouts were heavily coated in a sweet balsamic glaze, leaving them soft instead of crispy. I think both sides would be better with less added sweetness to let the natural flavors shine. We finished with the Bananas Foster, which was delicious and a fun presentation. It came with three small scoops of vanilla ice cream and half a banana. Since the flaming presentation takes a little time, larger scoops of ice cream would hold up better and not be half melted by the time the fire goes out. We would come back to avoid wait at other restaurants but would try different side dishes next time.
