Second year in a row coming here for our "nice" vacation dinner and the mahi mahi is amazing again! The cheese grits and fried shrimp also were the "best I've ever had" says my husband. Hush puppies awesome, salads awesome, unfortunately I do not suggest the steak. The ribeye had pretty good flavor but not worth the nearly $50 price tag and ours was quite over cooked from the temp we asked for, which was medium to med-well. For that price, we should be able to eat it with a fork and it be juicy and tender. Just sad to say was not the case. But we will definitely be back for our mahi mahi and shrimp favorites! This place is fantastic! Our absolute favorite spot from our week in Orange Beach. Great selection of draft beers, and the cocktails we tried were all perfect (especially the Orange Beach Mule!). Service was on point even though they were super busy. The kids loved the kid meals, and the adults loved theirs too. Highly recommend the crab cakes and grilled shrimp, although I'm sure anything on the menu is excellent. If you're looking for a sure-thing in Orange Beach, this is the spot to try. My family and I went to Doc's for lunch. We ordered gumbo, chicken tenders, grilled white fish, stuffed crab, and French fries. The gumbo and white fish were just ok, but the rest of us raved about the chicken tenders and fries. The food came out quickly and was hot. Our only downside was the service. The waitress didn't seem to have been trained much, and she wasn't knowledgeable about the menu. When we asked what white fish it was, she said, "Just a regular white fish." And when we asked what the crab was stuffed with, she said, "Just crab stuffing." She passed hot food over people and took away plates before we were completely finished. I love gumbo and try it almost everywhere I go, and will say the gumbo is one of the best I've had in the area (which made me up this to 3 stars), but it was expensive for what you get and again the service was subpar at best. Stopped in for dinner with my wife while vacationing. Only waited about ten minutes before getting seated. Shrimp was really good. They are small not big shrimp but they are delicious. Sides were tasty but not a lot of options. Wait staff was for the most part taking precautions for covid but several were wearing their masks below their chin. Cmon if your going to wear it, wear it right. They were not spraying or disinfecting tables between parties. could use more discipline for cleaning with covid resurging. I can see how this place gets mixed reviews. I think the problem is inexperienced cooks (notice I didn't say Chefs). The menu boasts 28 day aged beef angus and a $50 ribeye which I was immediately eyeing, however, I opted for the smaller $40 portion and made a point to ask for it charred or flame broiled. It came medium rare instead of medium and not charred. The problem is, you cannot cook a ribeye the same way you cook a sirloin. Ribeyes are marbled and get their flavor from the fat, which must be charred to be edible. This made 1/2 of my steak inedible. We asked if they served catfish and the waitress said 'yes, Swai is like a catfish' (LoL) okay, no it's not, so we got fried flounder. There's a reason flounder is not a fish and chips kind of fish. Like steak, not all fish can be cooked the same way. If you travel from a part of the country that isn't known for it's seafood this place is probably very good. If you travel from a part of the country that's known for its seafood and beef, like Texas, you can't fool us and you will not be happy here.... Unless you stick to the basics. The fried crab claws and shrimp were absolutely delicious. This place could be rocking it if they invested in a good chef and better wait staff to level up their game. The waitress said she could have fixed my steak. How? It would have been better if she had put it in to order and it came out sizzling to perfection in the first place. Don't take offense Mr. Owner, your restaurant could be rocking it if you really wanted it. read more

Highly do not recommend this place if I could give a negative review I would. Food is horrible the best thing is probably the fries. I've watched them drop food on the ground and put back onto a plate and served to a customer. They over work minors and don't give two shits about their education. It's a tourist trap. You'll overpay for food off the floor. You can go to shrimp basket for better food and service. And you might think your safe ordering Togo but guess what.... YOUR NOT! They have dropped a whole box of food and told to give it to the customer anyway. If you are about supporting a business, don't support this one! The owner is an absolute creep, the general manger acts like a child and the other mangers aren't worth shit either. Spend your vacation and your money else where instead of an overpriced, crappy food, horrible excuse of a seafood restaurant.
