As, the review suggests, this place was A-Ok. I would definitely go back as the food was delicious and came out quickly. Started with a dirty Grey Goose martini (pretty good) and enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Took a while for us to get a glass of tap water, though. Atmosphere was good, lights were a little bright for nighttime dining. This is the best Italian restaurant by far in RVC. You can't compare it to Mio Posto in Oceanside because they're two totally different places. Dodici is a very laid back quiet place. It is a very comfortable setting with low lighting and a classy feel to it. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is very friendly. It is a bit pricey and the portions are not huge but the food quality is incredible and never fails. It is not kid friendly by no means though so if you're a family looking for some where to eat Mio Posto is a bigger environment with the home italian feel to it. For date nights though, this is where its at in the town of RVC. read more

I have been going to restaurants around the world for over 40 years, this is the first time after being seated at our table and having drinks that we were asked to move to another table because it was promised to another customer. Ihave never experienced such unprofessional behavior at a restaurant. It was apparent that this customer was a friend of Roberto and he just cast us aside. He tried to make us happy by giving us a few free items. they should have picked up the whole check for such inconsiderate behavior. Try another restaurant!!!!! read more

I've been ducking into Dodici for several years now, and over time, it's become more and more of a disappointment. On the upside, service is always terrific, and they have a great wine list. Appetizers and salads generally quite good, though they've dispensed with the Vegetali Grigliati, much to my chagrin :( On the downside, entree's have roundly been disappointing from the outset, so I tend to avoid them (overcooked, tough cuts of meat big enough to choke a horse). Pastas more reliable - Capellini Inferno is an old standby. Decided on the last outing a few weeks back to try a few specials. Crab bisque was a delight, but an expensive pasta special with lobster and shellfish was a right mess. Every bit of protein was overcooked nearly to the point of being inedible, and though the pasta was touted as tagliatelle on the menu, I got a plate of boxed linguine. This last experience has me committed to moving on, which makes me a bit sad. Hope they're reading! read more

THE WORST SERVICE FOR YOUR PRIVATE PARTY. I think you are going to agree with me after I tell you what happened. On October 22, 2011, I booked the private room for Saturday November 12 (At that time they had nothing booked for that date as they told me). The deal was to put down a deposit of $200.00 and a few days before the event, to let them know about the menu that I have chosen. On November 7th I called the manager, named Roberto and we discussed the menu over the phone. On November 8th, he (Roberto) called me back to inform me that the private room was given to another party of 30 people ( I had a total of 21guests). He also added that the other group reserved the room before I did. My obvious question to him was how was that possible and why nothing was mentioned to me for 3 weeks now and even more, why nothing was mentioned to me the night before when we discussed the menu? Upon first moving to RVC last summer, Dodici was the first restaurant I tried. I was disappointed after ordering an expensive, bland, over-cooked risotto. After much coaxing, I made my way back to Dodici this past weekend and was again beyond disappointed. The service was subpar, the shellfish tasted old, and the sauce was awful. As much as I'd like to be able to post a more positive commentary, I can't seem to find one positive thing about the meal. read more

To start out, parking is a pain as it always is in RVC on a summer weekend. We were greeted and seated right away. It was quite crowded so we were seated at the last table in the back with no menus because they were short. How are you short menus? You are a restaurant! Our waiter was very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. We started out with the Antipasto Misto. Delicious cheese, meat, and olive platter, even a little salad hidden underneath. My entree was the Gnocchi Bolognese. Quite tasty except for the HUGE plop of ricotta cheese on the top (which I strategically scooped off). read more

I recently came here with my parents for the first time and i was so disappointed. There was also limited space between each table. The food was OK. The service was TERRIBLE. We had been waiting for someone to take our order for 20 minutes before we had to find someone who was not our server to take our order. They never checked to see how we were doing after we got our meal and it took so long to get our waiter to bring our check. For the prices they are giving it was definitely NOT worth it. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant. What changed my mind? The past two times I went to eat there I noticed a dog in a carriage next to tables where people dine. How gross! How could a fancy restaurant like his one allow people to bring animals IN THE RESTAURANT? There is now way I am paying over $100 for a meal while a dog is in the restaurant a few feet away from me. Food and service were very good. Pastas ordered were all excellent and prime rib was like a piece of meat from the Flintstones and delicious. My only real complaint is the noise level. On top of the place being noisy because of terrible acoustics and tile floors they also had music playing annoyingly loud. My friend made a 6 PM reservation. We arrived 15 to 20 minutes early, told the hostess we were there and ordered a drink at the bar. At 6:05, we went to the hostess stand and were told a table was on dessert. And were left standing. And standing. And standing. I clearly saw at least three empty, but set tables. And yet, we were still standing. Just after 6:20 we decided to go somewhere else. My friend did tell the waitress we were leaving; that we had a reservation, we told her we were there and were being treated poorly. The hostess then began with a litany of excuses, there were a number of large parties coming in (but did they have a 6PM reservation?) She had told us a table was almost done (but there are empty tables, we were there early and told her we were there.) And a man who appeared to be the manager was at the hostess desk a number of times during the 15 + minutes we stood there, but seemed clueless to the fact there was an issue. read more

First time yelp reviewer! I joined only to write this review! DON'T DO IT!! There are too many good decent Italian restaurants to come to this one! The long and short of it...my husband and I had reservations they sat us all the way in the back by the kitchen where it was loud and dark. I would of asked to be moved but didn't bc I know that would of made my husband uncomfortable. I let it go. Then the bus boy brought over the bread basket. It was a joke. I think it was a bread basket from other patrons who had finished dinner. It was the most pathetic bread basket I had ever seen from a restaurant ( especially Italian). The apps and main course. Overpriced, not substantial and mediocre taste. Why this place was crowded is beyond me. Don't do it! I will never ever ever go back there or ever recommend it!! read more

Went there last night for restaurant week. First strike - had to ask if there was a special menu for restaurant week , second strike - seated us last table in the back of the restaurant near the restrooms dark and forgotten as the waiter never came by to see if we needed anything. Third strike - the portions were so so small that we left hungry!! My husband actually counted the tiny bites of the cheesecake sliver -- 4!!! I got the chicken which consisted of 2 cutlets the size of a White Castle burger with 2 slices of a potatoe! They should have been embarrassed serving such under par portions. We've been to many restaurants during restaurant week and have never experienced something like this. As a matter of fact Tony Colombos also in rvc was fabulous as was George Martin. Had a terrific meal! Servers were extremely attentive. The Burrata special was outstanding as well was the steak special! My husbands veal special was extremely juicy and had a lot of nice flavor. The wine list was also impressive! Only reason for 4 stars was that it was a little loud inside with the acoustics. We will be back! read more

My experience was HORRIBLE. My fiancé and I went to Dodici for our Valentine's Day dinner. Where we sat was very romantic. We both ordered the ravioli dish for our main course and only recieved 4 raviolis, not the normal portion size you would normally see at Italian restaurants in the city or anywhere for that matter. This was an entre priced at $30 not an appetizer so that was totally unacceptable. That lead us to feel that we were being profiled. They assumed that maybe we don't go out often, but let me assure you we most definitely do. To make matters worse..One of the managers went around to every table asking how they were doing? And Do they need anything ? Joking and laughing with them. He then proceeds to walk by my table, sees we are upset and does not bother to se how WE are doing. Might I add that we were the only people of color in our entire section. We then spoke to our waiter and explained to him what happen and asked for the manager and he did nothing! Both of them could care less! We still had to pay for our wine and appetizer. They did NOTHING To accommodate us. As we are walking out I see everybody else's plate and they had larger portions. It was SO clear that this place was being prejudice and that is completely unacceptable and disgusting. We did not eat dinner that night , our Valentine's Day dinner was ruined. read more

If I could give this restaurant negative stars I would. We arrived for our reservation at 7:30pm and after about 30 minutes the waiter finally came over for us to order dinner and drinks. After an hour and prodding the waiter our salad came. We were then waiting for an hour and a half for our dinner, which never came. The table behind us were seated about an hour after us and got their food way before us. Someone in my party went to speak to the manager and the manager had NO explanation, was completely unapologetic, and was straight up rude. Now, I've been around for many years and we have NEVER EVER walked out on a restaurant before like this. Had the manager explained himself and offered some sort of solution my party would probably have stayed but we walked out in the middle of dinner. The service is absolutely horrid here unless you know someone. DO NOT GO unless you want to have a 3 hour dinner. Not to mention, they charged us over 200 dollars for drinks and salad... what a joke! read more
