I really liked this place. Service was awesome without being too "in-your-face", the decor is kindof cheesy/classy (which I like, sue me), and the food was pretty great. My husband had the rack of lamb which he really enjoyed, and I had pasta with shrimp and pancetta in a light cream sauce, very yummy. Our appetizers, tomato and mozz salad and a house salad, were equally tasty. Minus one star for two things: 1) it got pretty loud in there at times, which may have had something to do with the loud-ish music playing. 2) we ordered a good bottle of wine, which the waiter kindly offered to decant; but the decanter looked filthy to us. The wine didn't suffer, so we convinced ourselves that it was only the outside that was dirty (it looked like someone with greasy hands had gotten to it). But it was still a damper, just the same. Other than that, we had a very nice, romantic dinner; we'll most likely go back. Without the wine, the bill was about $80 (no dessert). read more

I was at a bar across the street when someone suggested I should check it out. We were comparing places we like to eat, and I thought we shared the same palate The bread they serve before the meal looked interesting ...and thats really it. The appetizer, we went with a mozzarella caprice something or other ...we had 3 pieces of tomato sliced mozzarella one basil leaf and some julienned roasted red peppers ..really? Thats an appetizer? My fiance was in the mood for a bolognese ziti type of thing ..They were able to make the dish for 19 bucks ...the meat in the meat-sauce was sausage ::thumbs down:: I went with I forgot the first name ...Something Inferno The sauce was pretty good, the shrimp was overcooked and some wasnt cleaned properly, which put me off and I was unable to eat the rest of it. I think I wouldve given them 3 stars. The service was okay, I think it took like 20 minutes from the time we asked for the check to the time we were able to sign the bill..held hostage it felt like. The guy that runs the place is a little too hard on his bus boys, I hope they get whats owed to them for taking some of the abuse he puts them through. read more

With all the great Italian restaurants on Long Island why would you go to this one ?? Parking is insane , just to pull over and use valet is tough ! Fried Calamari was soaking in oil , rest of appetizers far at best . My sister in law asked for the Steak dish special when dish was put it front of her instead of steak it was a small piece of veal , when asked waiter's reply was " it's steak just pounded out so that's it is flat and grey " !!! I ordered the pasta bolognese ( not that tough to get right ) bolognese sauce tasted like it came from a can. I left the whole dish on the table . Not one person out of 8 enjoyed their food . I have eaten at Dodici a few times and I decided to have a private party in the back room for 20 people. I always have my parties elsewhere but wanted to give this a try. Was a bit concerned simply because I guess it was fear of the unknown. Before I start with my one and only review of this place, I have eaten here before and it's your typical Italian average eatery. Nothing special but it's kind of disguised as more special than it really is so beware. I went there last night with my son, made reservation, and there was a wait. What was most annoying and frankly were the host and hostess. You would have thought he was managing IL Mulino in the city or Peter Lugers put on the island. Fingers in the air, shucking and jiving his way through trying to find seats for people with the occasional hugs and special seating for I guess special customers. The hostess was even more ridiculous just standing there like a mannequin offering no help behind what was surely a patronizing ditzy Masked smile, unaware, oblivious and overall useless. It was almost a sad scene with Rvc regulars with their best Saturday dressed fighting for an average restaurant at best with silly self important employees. Anyway we left after 7 minutes and besides the obvious reasons, I just couldn't believe the ridiculousness of what i was watching... Oh and to the self important host...here's a tip, if you want to act more important than you are, tailor your pants, man! U wanna be that guy, try harder! They have a very weird rule that u cannot sit unless your entire party is present, even if you have a reservation. I used to go with my sister and family. We always abided this rule, even with small children, until we saw a group of people allowed I sit WITHOUT the rest of their party present. When we asked the manager about it, he said they were friends of his. Upset by this, we let it go and went once more. The manager was so rude the second time, my entire family refuses to give them business. It's sad bc we both live in RVC and they have lost our business forever. The food is good, but not superb. Dario's is WAY better and service is stellar. If you are looking for awesome italian food, go to Darios around the corner. Make a reservation though! read more

This is a go to spot for me and my wife in RVC. I'd say we come here about once a month, as it is consistently good. It's not amazing by any means, but the quality is very consistent, as well as the service. We recently made a reservation for four early on a Saturday night, as the couple we were dining with needed to catch the 835 train back to Manhattan, which they did as this place is right near the train station. Place was not crowded, which was good, and the front pocket doors were open, enabling us to sit on the precipice of where the inside of the restaurant meets the outside of the restaurant. They have dining fully outside as well, with awnings overhead. The hostess gave us some bs when we asked to sit at the table we eventually got, saying she might need it for a reservation, but once we exclaimed that we had a reservation one of the super old school Italian waiters trumped her and told us to sit there. There is a long narrow bar on the left wall in here with a few chairs to grab drinks, as well as a tv. The alcohol and wine selection is pretty good, and they make their drinks super stiff. We didn't go to the bar, but ordered cocktails to start. Myself and my buddy went for rye old fashioneds, while the ladies sipped on martinis. All were good and strong. We put in a quick margarita pizza, as they have a brick oven, and it was good. I went for what I always get, the rigatoni butera. Thick rigatoni in a pink cream sauce with sausage, peas, and a large dollop of ricotta on top. Always awesome, my favorite thing on the menu. My buddy's girlfriend got the same thing on my recommendation and liked it as well. Others ordered whole wheat penne with chicken and broccoli in garlic and oil, as well as veal fontanella. Reviews were good all around. We also spilt a bottle of ruffino gold reserve Chianti, pricy for this place at $80, but really good. For dessert, we split an Italian ricotta cheesecake, gelato, and an amaretto on the rocks. The ricotta cheesecake is another one of my favs, I get it every time. The service was great too, super Italian guy off the boat was not overbearing but very attentive; he even swirled the wine for me before I tasted it. Highly recommend valet parking here, can be tough otherwise. Decor inside is old school Tuscan, not a modern place but a nice Italian feel. After all we ordered it was $360 total for four of us with tax and tip, not bad considering the amount of drinks the girls had and the bottle of wine. read more

Used to live in RVC about 10 years ago and always enjoyed it . Went last night for dinner .. Order $29.00 salmon Special and the Salmon piece was literally sliced in half like a pancake .. Served with 1 tiny fingerlake potato the size of my pinky cut in half and 3 cold strands of asparagus. Tld waiter I did not want it .. Then manager came over and offered another piece of flat salmon .. I really did not want the dish but took it out of frustration. Offered a glass of wine .. No thanks at this point I was disgusted.. . Sorry Dodici .. I will nvr return .. Esp will all the other options ..My husband was not impressed at all by his meal either .. I am very annoyed that I made a reservation there for 16 people at 7:30 on 9/20/28 @12 pm - ONLY to be called at 8:30 that night to be told I can not accommodate my party. I did not get the message until today and I called as soon as they opened and they put the manager on the phone who told me that the bartender made the reservation and he shouldnt have. Splitting up my party into two tables would be the only thing they could do. Honestly if we wanted to sit at two tables we would of just two separate reservations! Now its Friday - and we have no reservation ! read more

One of RVC's best Italian restaurants. A warm sunny weekend seemed like a good time to visit. Like most of RVC restaurants , arrive early to avoid waits. I've been to Dodici many times. The food here is excellent and service is as well. Menu has brick oven pizzas , paninis , pasta and some intriguing entrees. I wish they offered more seafood dishes. On this visit I went with linguini marechiara which is basically clam sauce with shrimps with plenty of garlic and a dash of tomato sauce. Delicious. Prices are a bit steep but the cost is justified with such excellent food. A decaf cap after dinner and I'm left thinking why don't I eat here more frequently? read more

I was here for lunch and had a pretty good experience. It's a small restaurant. It has a full bar and two TVs. The restaurant has nice classy decorations. The tables are relatively close to each other so it can get a little noisy, but in general i would say the noise level is average. The service was pretty good - fast and professional. We had out office Christmas party there last week with a party of 23 people. To say the service was bad is an understatement. There were not enough appetizers for the whole table and when it came time for the main courses to come out they literally came out in 1/2 hour intervals. My boss was the last to get his pasta almost an hour after the first meal was served. We spoke to the waiter who advised us to speak to the manager and he did absolutely nothing, not even an offer to buy a round of drinks or dessert. This place still draws crowds on a Saturday night after all these years, and we have found the food pretty consistent over the years, so come back once in a while. But most recently, we had to wait a half hour to be seated, notwithstanding our having arrived on time for our reservation, and felt considerably less welcome here than regulars who arrived after us and were seated right away. On a Saturday night the noise is oppressive, so this might be a good choice for obligatory family dinners with relatives who you'd prefer not to hear. But even if our waiter had to ask us to point to our selections on the menu because he could not hear us over the din, the food remains consistently good, with more creative offerings than more pedestrian Long Island restaurants. read more

So this never better than 3 stars Italian restaurant in Rockville Centre finally reopened since the pandemic began last year. It's been remodeled. My wife and I ate in the far back room which was basically the only socially distant area. The main room with the bar was not set for social distancing. The food was as good as it's always been, nothing remarkable. The one thing I must say is when I commented to the waiter that the wine per glass prices were high he then offered me better deals not on the menu. A basic martini was $18., higher than other restaurants in that area. I will say that the service is always excellent. One of my pet peeves is restaurants that allow men to wear baseball hats while dining. It makes what would be a classy restaurant trashy. Why are these owners scared to at least put a sign on the door saying no hats or shorts allowed. I had a delicious pasta dish that was a bit salty, especially after I added grated cheese. I don't know why this place has any negative reviews! I came here the other night with my girlfriends and everything was so amazing. The service from danny and Alfonso was the best.. and the maitre d' johnny was the sweetest ever!!! Everyone was so hospitable!!!!! We ordered 3 apps and 3 entrees and each thing was better then the next! The veal special was so delicious, and even better the next day for lunch. Their baked clams were so good we got another order. Oh - and it was so pretty inside ! Went here on a Friday night. Ordered Calamari and fried stuffed zucchini flowers for an app. Both were good, although the calamari was a bit chewy. I ordered the cannelloni, which was good, but came out warm, not hot. They have no beer on tap, which kind of sucks. A wine list that is enormous and a food menu to go with it. Sometimes, less is more. They should pare both the food and wine menu down. I spent years in the wine industry and wine lists like that are just too much. Keep it simple. Instead of doing hundreds of things OK, do a few excellent. read more

Home made pasta was amazing! Its a little pricey for the portions you receive but the food was great none the less. Gnocchi was wonderful, which is a dish I try everywhere I can and is usually not very satisfying, but dodici's was fresh and definitely home made. I will definitely be back! Dodici is hit or miss. Lately its been more miss. The food isn't much higher quality than a pizza joint and on friday/ sat the service is horrid and slow. The restaurant is often unbearably loud and the food isn't cheap. Ate here last night with friends of ours. We were a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) and we were seated in the back room. It was beautiful, cozy and quiet. There was another table of 8 in the room as well. That's it. Loved it! The food was delicious! We shared the meat and cheese board and the mussels with beans and ir was delicious! The kids shared the Margherita pizza which was sooo fresh! for my entree, I have the kale salad with cranberries and pistachios. Small portion but it was perfect for me. Friends of ours who live in Jamaica Queens took us to Dodici and we had a wonderful dinner. It was a warm evening so the front wall was open to the street and we had a table right at the opening so it was like sitting outside only nicer because we also had the interior decor. Service was highly attentive and excellent. The calamari appetizer was great as were every entree and the desserts. I am certain we will go there again on another visit to Long Island. read more

As, the review suggests, this place was A-Ok. I would definitely go back as the food was delicious and came out quickly. Started with a dirty Grey Goose martini (pretty good) and enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Took a while for us to get a glass of tap water, though. Atmosphere was good, lights were a little bright for nighttime dining. This is the best Italian restaurant by far in RVC. You can't compare it to Mio Posto in Oceanside because they're two totally different places. Dodici is a very laid back quiet place. It is a very comfortable setting with low lighting and a classy feel to it. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is very friendly. It is a bit pricey and the portions are not huge but the food quality is incredible and never fails. It is not kid friendly by no means though so if you're a family looking for some where to eat Mio Posto is a bigger environment with the home italian feel to it. For date nights though, this is where its at in the town of RVC. read more
