I've been a few times now and they are consistently good. The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable about all of the flavors. I highly recommend the pistachio gelato. They make their own pistachio butter in house and it is the most rich and pure nutty pistachio ice cream I've ever had. A close second was their cassata flavor. We really got bamboozled with this place. The only thing we liked is that the lady who served us was really nice. But the gelato is not good at all. It barely has any taste and there are not many options at all. The chocolate chips in the Stracciatella tasted/felt like rocks and made us want to spit it out each time. The marscapone chocolate did not have much of a taste, and the malted milk and chocolate chip just tasted like a strong milk taste. This tastes nothing like gelato in Italy. The ice cream flavors are delightful here. The coffee is smooth and not too sweet. I really liked the texture of the tiramisu ice cream. It almost felt like I could taste the lady fingers in the ice cream. The vanilla was a bit sweet but most ice cream stores tend to fall on the sweeter side. I've not found the need to park since my workplace is just a block away, nor have I encountered any lines out here. The gelato IMHO tasted a little TOO sweet - it was like the sugar masked the natural flavors. I've honestly had better. There are flavors aplenty to satisfy all palates -- as long as you're fond of a LOT of sugar. The servings come in 3 sizes - small, med, large. UGH YES. THIS GELATO PLACE IS THE BEST. I visited dolce neve upon a recommendation from a fellow yelp elite and was excited to find a go to place to cool off at in this Texan heat. Lemme tell y'all, this is the place. I've eaten plenty of ice cream and gelato in my life, and this has to be some of the best. The place is cute and clean, with 4 tables to sit inside and a few outside. It is not too far from south congress or gordough's donuts. The flavors are on rotation daily and come in cute silver containers. The owners were super friendly and accommodating, letting me and my friend sample multiple flavors while asking us about our time in Austin and things about our lives. They also have a little station for giving out free water. We decided on getting a medium because of our inability to decide on which flavors to get (they're all too good), and maximized it with papaya sorbet, yupon matcha, and mascarpone and figs. UGHH that papaya sorbet (which is vegan friendly btw). I am dreaming about it right now. That has to be the best sorbet I've had. One thing that made it unique, besides it tasting EXACTLY like papaya, is the texture of the sorbet. I'm used to sorbet being icy and not that much to my liking, but this one was less so, and very smooth and almost creamy in texture. Absolutely recommend. The yupon matcha was also great. As the owner pointed out, it's made from yupon tea local to Texas and then produced the similar way matcha is produced. It tastes similar to matcha but has a lighter flavor to it. The mascarpone and figs was also awesome. I was a little hesitant to try it, given I've had one at another establishment I didn't care for (it ended up being too cheesy and too sweet), but this one was perfect. Chocolate with Candied Orange Peels was a delicious flavor, but I really didn't like the candied orange peels. When I initially sampled it, I only tasted the chocolate and it had a nice orange aftertaste. However, after I got a scoop I realized there was like orange jellies in the gelato which did not taste as good. While comparing notes on Gelato options in Austin, a couple of my friends had Dolce Neve on the top of their list. Being the Gelato snob that I am, I ventured to check this place. The place scores high marks on cutesy ambience which IMHO is a must for any gelato shop. They list all the daily flavors served at their locations on their website. So this gives you the option to choose which location visit to pick up your favorite flavors. But I was disappointed that neither this location nor the one on East 5th was serving a classic chocolate or pistachio gelato. Both locations had variants of chocolate but no plain chocolate. Nevertheless, I ventured to the S 1st location and got to try three flavors in a pint. They do have some unique flavors which tastes out of the world. I loved the matcha mascarpone flavor and goat cheese pecan. I would probably not buy the chocolate dragonfruit flavor again and would look to try their other flavors. I loved that they serve their pints and quarts in a flat container as it's so much easier to taste individual flavors than if they are placed one on top of other in the typical pint container. They do not offer samples due to Covid. But the staff described the flavors and she was pretty accurate. A bit pricier than other gelato stores but I attribute it more to the location. It was so unremarkable that we never felt a need to go back, but promised our daughter a frozen treat on Sunday evening. She ordered a cone with vanilla bean. It was...fine. We shared a small cup with half salted caramel and half stracciatella. The latter, again fine, but the former was f-ing gross. The Gelato Sandwich here is really excellent ($5.50). It's a small, really neatly made version, with perfectly round, thin chocolate cookies, and a thick layer of dense gelato. I detected hints of lemon in the gelato, but I couldn't tell what the exact flavor was. The guy told me, but he had such a thick Italian accent it was like he was doing a bad impression of Super Mario. It was comforting though to buy gelato from a real Italian guy. The sandwich was frozen pretty solid, so take it to go and walk a minute or two in the Austin heat, and it will be perfect. I love dolce neve! This is one of my favorite places to get gelato, especially because they offer dairy free options which is great because I'm lactose intolerant! They also have some of the most unique flavors I've ever heard of (such as bees wax and honey) and make them into a delicious and light dessert. We ordered straciatella and a honey and beeswax, and both were amazing! (So good that I splurged and ate a whole cup of straciatella even though it is not dairy free!) Oh my, where do I begin!! Dolce Neve's gelato is a flavor explosion in your mouth. Your taste buds will be singing after eating some of this gelato! Like another reviewer said, this gelato is so amazing you will want to work here after tasting it. Honestly, I had high expectations for this place, and Dolce Neve did not disappoint. I tried the Tiramisu, Chocolate 70%, Chocolate Sea Salt, Salted Caramel, and Maple Carrot something. All the flavors were very fresh, balanced, and pure. I'm sure if I was a master chef or pastry chef or whatever I could name each ingredient out for you! The tiramisu had the classic coffee flavor, and bits of lady fingers or cake bits dispersed throughout. Both chocolate flavors, tasted rich of chocolate and both actually tasted rather. If you don't like dark chocolate, I think you will still like both of the chocolates. My boyfriend did, and he hates dark chocolate. Salted caramel was really good, not too sweet with an interesting, crisp flavor. Maple carrot something was my least favorite, as it didn't taste much like carrot or maple. I may have been slightly distracted from the tiramisu I sampled before though. Get the tiramisu!! I've had a lot of Gelato when I was in Rome and just in places in American, but this was the best gelato I've ever tasted! I will definitely come back to update y'all. What a cute spot in the south 1st area! This little house has house made gelato, including some exotic but delicious flavors, gelato sandwiches, and gelato pops. All very beautifully displayed- which makes it that much more difficult to choose what to get. I went with a medium cup because I was able to combine 3 flavors. My flavor choices were goat cheese and strawberry (sounds weird but my favorite!), organic coffee, and the chocolate chip flavor (it has a complicated name that I would for sure misspell). These quaint Gelato parlors such as Dolce Neve with super friendly service and uniquely tasty treats is part of the reason why I love the city of Austin. Dolce Neve is something you don't normally run into everyday, especially in Houston (not that Houston is bad or anything!). This gelato parlor creates all their gelato right in front of you by hand and also with the aid of a vertical batch freezer (oppose to horizontal) which supposedly aerates the gelato better, providing a more creamier and softer texture. The flavor selection isn't as vast as most other gelato places, but I find that as a good thing. They focus more on quality and their uniqueness in flavors. I tried their honey dew and dolce crema which were both delicious. The honey dew flavor was perhaps the most refreshing of the two. Nothing about it tasted artificial and there were small honey dew chunks in it too. I also tried their ice cream sandwich (I had to try a home-made ice cream sandwich!). It was pretty good, but I think next time I want to try it with vanilla filling instead of dolce crema. The interior of the place reminded me of a small cottage. It had clear open windows allowing ample sunlight through, creating a vibrant and happy atmosphere. The walls were painted white over rustic wood, also giving this place the cottage feel. Everything was clean including the restroom (extra points!). This is a perfect place to visit after kayaking or walking through the park on a hot sunny day. Upon walking into Dolce Neve, I saw how I would have designed an ice cream shop if I were to one day quit my day job. Like many Austin businesses, Dolce is set in a older Austin home. Inside, it's warm and inviting. You're greeted by two charming employees who obviously are happy to be there. The gelato is contained in stainless steel containers. This point is interesting. Normally you are able to see the product before you decide on it, which is especially fun for children. But served in this way, it's evident that the main customer base is adults. I didn't expect gelato to be THIS good. NOT in the State of Texas. They quickly evoked my memory and love for Latteria's gelato in Miami. For sure, the gelato is the best I've had in the entire State - beating the bigger city powerhouses of Dallas and Houston. The gelato here is made fresh daily - you can come early enough to even sample them as they're churning out gelato with their imported Italian gelato maker that's proudly (and rightly so) displayed behind the glass. And the flavors? Authentic Italian, and authentic Texan. Italian in the ways that they have the typical Italian flavors (stracciatella) and the less-common Italian flavors (cassata, even with pieces of candied fruits!!!); and they have things Texan (whiskey and pecan). And they were all truly the freshest and great-tasting gelato that I've had in almost anywhere. Of the flavors I tried, I loved the Whiskey & Pecan, Cassata, and Opal Basil. My cousin also raved about their pistachio flavored ice cream but the didn't have it the day I was there (or I just simply found out about it too late!) I also was surprised that they have American style ice cream sandwiches - and with Italian gelato flavors. That's something that I haven't seen much of since most Italian gelato shops I've seen make their ice cream sandwiches with a brioche.
