At first glance on Yelp, it comes across as mostly as an ice cream parlor cafe but it's so much more! My friends invited me for brunch and it was my first time visiting here. It's a 100% Gluten-free menu so it was worry free to order for my friends who are intolerant. We tried 4 main menu items family style. They also clearly label if it's dairy free, vegan, vegetarian for everyone's dietary sensitivities/preference. There's seating in the main entrance, outdoor side patio and in a tucked away room down the restroom hallway, with more indoor seating. Great service and reasonable prices. Wish I had more for ice cream and pastries so that just gives me another reason to come back! Brunch spread items: Shrimp & grits: creamy and savory Maple peach pecan waffle: summer special the peaches were a perfect in season for summer Laksa: savory curry base with fish cake and shrimp - a Singaporean special Biscuits and mushroom gravy - my friends couldn't believe the fluffy biscuits were GF. Matcha latte - the coconut milk flavor really comes through Golden chai latte - love a turmeric latte. savory spice with a side of anti-inflammatory benefits
Chive pancakes, Memela (vegan), and ice cream The chive pancakes were crunchy. They tasted like burnt thick chips of seaweed almost. With the sauces of the memela they were great. The memela tasted. primary of beans. The sauces are what truly made it. Wouldn't order this again or call it delicious but it was savory. Ice cream was amazing! Never misses. The staff was super kind and friendly. Definitely great vibe in their outdoor patio.
Neo MADE the experience. Gati's ice cream and pastries are always top tier, literally best in Austin, but their customer service sometimes leaves you wanting. But not Neo. His energy and helpful attitude was phenomenal. We were very impressed with his knowledge of all the items available to purchase and his recommendations. My friend and I went in there with our kids (10 kids!) and he handled the chaos seamlessly. The way he represented Gati is definitely manager status. - The owner needs to hold onto him.
Favorite ice cream spot in Austin! Love that it's coconut milk based. Great for those avoiding dairy. The ice cream is always so smooth in texture and I love that they have lots of unique flavors. My favorite is are Cookie Monster, Thai tea, horchata black sesame rice
Gati is an absolute dream, especially if you're gluten-free or just love incredible food. Their gluten-free pastries are next level. You would never guess they're gluten-free everything is soft, flavorful, and perfectly textured. The cinnamon rolls in particular are unforgettable, warm, gooey, and just the right amount of sweet. Truly some of the best I've ever had. And the Thai dishes? An explosion of flavor. Every bite is vibrant, rich, and beautifully balanced. You can tell everything is made fresh with high-quality ingredients and a lot of care. To top it all off, the staff is so friendly and kind. The whole space feels welcoming and full of good energy, which makes the experience even better.
I don't often go here, but I love their ice cream and they have the best dairy-free options in town! I love their flavors and how everything g isn't too sweet. The price point is a little higher than usual but I can justify it by good quality ice cream and unique flavors. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, always offer to try different flavors too! There are a few spots to sit at, but in my experience it's never too busy (maybe because I always go in the evening when I do).
As the old adage goes, "Life's short...eat dessert first." Well, that is exactly what we did. My hubby and I have been doing the Daniel fast for a week. So we decided to have an ice cream treat made with coconut milk. Gati...for the save! Gati specializes in coconut milk-based ice cream with robust, globally inspired flavors. There is no dairy...fully a plant-based delight. All their ice creams are coconut milk-based. After a few samples, we decided on Mango Lime and Golden Milk. Both were delicious! We were milk-based ice cream neophytes. You might ask what is the difference between cow's milk and coconut milk ice cream. There was not a significant difference to me. The only notable difference is that coconut milk-based ice cream does not have an oily feel to its ice cream. It was nice treat. In fact, we will likely return even after our Daniel's fast. Gati is a small establishment with a small outdoor patio. Overall laid-back environment....
Woah, I had a dining experience at Launderette and the waitress said to check this place out after. I walked half a mile over to this cute spot with a friend and we ended up spending over $80 and I ain't even mad about it. First of all, even if you're not an ice cream fan (like me), TRY THE ICE CREAMS. I sampled a few and every single one was to live for. I ended up getting the oatmeal cream pie with chocolate chips on top. I was amazed at how many pints they had available to-go. It took everything out of my to not take any home. The cookie monster was incredible and all thai ice creams were delicious. They also have ice cream sandwiches to-go or to eat in store. The highlight, weirdly, was the Aztec Mocha. Perfectly poured, I had it hot and it blew me away. It had the most delicious notes of cinnamon and other spices. The design was perfect, I wish I didn't devour it and took a photo! My friend took over 12 pastries home and they all looked delicious. I asked her how they were and she said they didn't disappoint. As both of us are lactose intolerant, we were beyond satisfied. And this place treats their staff well by paying them a fair wage. Tips are optional as gratuity is already included in every purchase. This staff works their butts off and deserves every penny. Gati is my new favorite and I have actually added it to my All-Time Favorites list. I cannot wait to share this place with everyone I know and to visit again and again. Absolutely worth the hype!
A cute ice cream/bakery/cafe tucked behind a convenience store. The place specializes in making goods gluten-free, vegan, and other food allergy/intolerances. And one can also get regular milk in their latte as well. Having a minor lactose intolerance, I was looking forward to the ice cream and tasted a few before settling on the cookie monster and blueberry. For some reason, the more I ate the blueberry, the more I felt something was off with the flavor. However, both being coconut based was a godsend. Also, had a great latte! I would definitely visit again, if not to try more flavors like the Thai tea or the pandan.
I came back recently to try their new food menu! Not only do they have delicious vegan ice cream (made from coconut milk), they also have breakfast and lunch, with some dishes that are of SE Asian origin. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn they actually expanded from Thai Fresh, one of my favorite Thai restaurants. I got the laksa noodles. After ordering, I was confused about the utensils because I could not find the forks, but they gave me chopsticks when they delivered the dish to me. Laksa was sooo good and had the perfect amount of spice for me. Staff is friendly and if you want to sample the ice cream, you may pick two. There is limited parking but coming for Saturday lunch, I was able to find a spot. It was the perfect weather to be seated outside but there are some flies. Also bought their Thai Basil ice cream to take home! Yum!
Wow! So good! We came here after a jazz show and let's just say it didn't disappoint. I had the coconut ash and coffee. Very tasty smooth and didn't make to feel bloated. 10/10 Ice Cream
During my stay near Holly Street in East Austin, I discovered Gati and wound up going there 4 or 5 times. It's a great little gem of a cafe that offers coffee drinks, other beverages, delicious food items, and even fantastic home made coconut milk ice cream. After a long walk in the late afternoon, i stopped in to try different ice cream flavors and there were all great - i guess i'm a traditionalist because I liked the mint chocolate chip the best, but the texas blueberry and texas peach were great, too. My guess is that any flavor you get a Gati will improve your life. I also tried the beet cocoa drink over ice and it was good, a bit gritty. On another morning, I got the shrimp & grits which was phenomenal, and the pan eggs with different kinds of sausage over egg white and with two hard boiled yolks. The breakfast salad was also good. Service was very personal. Gati has an outdoor area, counter area, and a room off to the right which I didn't know about until I was told about it and worked there for a few hours waiting for my next check-in time.

If the lot is full, there's free neighborhood parking nearby, which is a great backup option. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoors and were grateful for the AC -- a much-needed break from the Texas heat! When you walk in, the display case with all the ice creams and pastries immediately catches your eye (and makes it very hard to stick to just ordering coffee and food!). You order at the counter, get a number, and then your food is brought out to you. There are vegetarian options, which is always nice to see. I had a latte and the pan eggs. Both were tasty, with the pan eggs served alongside in-house-made sourdough bread, which was a nice touch. The bread is gluten-free. My friend got a flat white and the waffle with a side of bacon and egg for extra protein. Everything was good -- solid flavors and well-prepared, though nothing that totally blew me away. Service was fast and attentive, and the overall vibe was peaceful, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality and ambiance. Would definitely come back to try the pastries or ice cream next time!
What a gem to find a bakery that is gluten-free for my gluten intolerant friend :) It's also dairy-free since their ice cream is made with coconut milk. While it does make the texture less creamy than traditional milk, it didn't bother me. It's more frozen yogurt/custard? Like it was just a teeny bit grainy instead of smooth. I enjoyed it nonetheless. She ordered a coffee cake and I think the black magic flavor ice cream? I had the Thai tea and black sesame something flavors - I forgot the name :( I also ordered their hojicha matcha as well. I also wished I remembered the gentleman's name who helped us last week but he was super friendly and helpful! The inside was really cute too! It feels like airy/spacious boho with the furniture, large windows, and light fixtures in the seating area with these cute, muted mint green tiles for the wall behind the counters. read more
Excellent - by far my favorite ice cream in the city. Everything is made with coconut milk, and is gluten free, so it's perfect for people who want sweet treats that are non-dairy and non-gluten. AND, their flavors are actually good. I find that often when one of those is substituted for, the other gets sacrificed or over-compensates and ends up not being very good. Although, naturally, without gluten some of the pastries are not as fluffy or buttery as they could be for the "regular" version. Most of their flavors are really good and you can get 2 samples before making a choice. There's some shaded outdoor seating, main seating, and a back indoor seating (somewhat echo-y), but it hasn't been super busy any time I've been there so there's enough space to not feel crowded. read more

But somehow Yelp moved the review to the one on Holy. -------------------- We are so excited to have Gati here in Hyde Park. We are a big fan of the one on Holy but that's a bit out of the way for us. This one is much closer to us. For those who haven't hade Gati, all ice cream here is made with coconut milk. They have unique flavors. For example today I have tamarind candy. Pandan is another flavor I like. More common flavors: blueberry, Texas peach, mint chip. And many more! read more

I love their interior design -- clean, simple, and filled with natural light that makes me feel calm and present. Everything on the menu is gluten-free, according to the staff, which is a huge plus. My favorite dishes are the mushroom congee and shrimp & grits -- both are wonderfully comforting. I also tried their Laksa (my first time having it, unless instant noodles count). It's nicely shrimpy, and even my husband liked the soup when he tried a sip, though I still prefer their congee. Their beverages are great too. I've tried the turmeric ginger tonic, black sesame latte, hojicha matcha latte, and butterfly pea lemonade -- all were pretty good, but the turmeric tonic is my favorite. Rating: 4.1/5 [dine in] They have a lot of unique flavors, and everything is 100% vegan. The texture isn't as creamy as regular ice cream, but the flavors and sweetness still come through. I liked that they had a self-serve water station too. They also sell pastries, ice cream sandwiches, and tubs you can take home. We went with the flower waffle cone, which comes with two big scoops of ice cream ($12.50). They also added a 15% fair wage fee which sounded high, but it came out to be $1.88. The cone itself was soft instead of crunchy, and the pressed flowers looked pretty even though they didn't taste like much. It still paired nicely with the ice cream and gave a contrasting texture. For flavors, the Cookie Monster looked fun with its bright blue color but wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. The Pandan was the sweetest of everything we tried but still good, just definitely needed water after. The Texas Peach had the perfect level of sweetness and peach flavor. The Thai Coffee had bold flavors but wasn't as strong as Vietnamese coffee. The Mint Chocolate Chip didn't hit right though; my husband said it tasted weird. read more

Gati has really great vegan ice cream! Very unique flavors with a light and airy texture. We ordered the cookie monster and thai basil, and both were good. I enjoyed the flavor that the coconut milk adds, and the cookies in the cookie monster were delicious. I'd go for this on a night where I want a lighter sweet treat. The staff was really friendly and the store is cute! Definitely interested in going back and trying some of their baked goods and breakfast! read more
I came here the other day specifically for their dairy-free ice cream and was so impressed that I couldn't wait to come back to try their brunch and lunch menu. The ice cream was delicious. While there were only a few options without cane sugar (which I personally avoid), one of them was vanilla bean--a classic--and it absolutely delivered. Simple, creamy, and so satisfying. My family tried other flavors and loved theirs as well, so it was a win all around. I came back within the week to try the lunch menu, which is entirely gluten free, and I really appreciate how many options they offer for gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan diets. That said, many of the items still contained cane sugar, which limited my choices a bit. I ended up ordering the chicken salad on ciabatta, which did not contain cane sugar--and it was so good. Honestly, the ciabatta didn't even feel like gluten-free bread, which is saying a lot. Soft, flavorful, and a perfect match for the chicken salad. Overall, this is a great spot for people with dietary restrictions, especially gluten and dairy. I just wish there were a few more cane sugar-free options across the menu, because when they get it right, they really get it right. read more
Gati was started by the owner of Thai Fresh. You can tell by the ice cream resembling Thai cooking using local ingredients and exploring the nuances of different flavor combinations. The ice creams is vegan and made in small batches, with most flavors contain no more than 5 ingredients. They are not dairy based but instead made using coconut milk base. They have over 40 rotating flavors so many options to choose from. They sweeten the ice cream with either organic fair trade sugar or palm sugar. The staff was very helpful and allowed us to sample various flavors to choose the ice cream flavor we wanted. They had numerous gluten free baked goods and I tried a large slice of chocolate cake with strawberry frosting. I decided on the toasted coconut chip that has coconut flakes. Coconut milk and fair trade sugar. I instantly fell in love with the texture of the sweet coconut and creaminess of the coconut milk. It is a seasonal flavor, but I also sampled the Panda with coconut milk, Palm Sugar, pandan leaves, green spirulina, salt. They had indoor and outdoor seating. We enjoyed our sweets on the outdoor patio which was perfect for a social setting. Can't wait to come back and try other ice cream flavors and baked goods. read more

You'll find this cute place tucked in an up and coming neighborhood on the east side next to a convenience store. I can remember when it was common to have convenient stores in neighborhoods when I was growing up- not so much anymore. I digress, but I will say finding this place in the middle of a neighborhood made me feel nostalgic. Gati is a small, well-designed, modern-feeling ice cream/bakery/coffee shop. I was with a meetup group taking a morning hike, and we stopped here for a refreshment and some social time. The counter service was polite, informative, and efficient. The prices were on par with other establishments. The place felt clean and neat. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. I would guess that parking would be fairly easy depending on the time of day. I had a Golden Milk with Coconut milk. Delicious, and thirst quenching. Give this place a try! Do local! read more

A great selection of vegan ice creams!!! Great customer service and excellent selection of home made pastries, cookies, bars, and of course ice cream. You have the choice of sitting inside or outside in a nice little area with picnic tables and chairs. It's very clean and relaxing. read more

THE BIG: Coconut based ice cream for the win! Located in East Austin right off the corner of Comal and Holly street. Small ice cream shop with seats indoor and outdoor. Few parking spots in the lot otherwise street parking. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We came here after a happy hour and tacos. Our sweet tooth was kicking in and we wanted to have it satiated. I'm lactose intolerant so hearing that this place does vegan ice cream had me curious. Lo'behold, it did not disappoint. Some very interesting flavors here. We ultimately got the snickerdoodle and mint chocolate in a medium bowl. The snickerdoodle was super delicious and you can get the full flavor from the coconut base. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall for a medium two scoop ice cream, it was around $11. If you're in the neighborhood, a delicious ice cream spot to check out! read more

I really hate writing a less than stellar review, especially for a business that serves a vegan product. Maybe I was expecting too much for it to taste like normal ice cream, or coconut based desserts are not my think - but I really didn't think their ice cream was good. I paid $7 for the teeniest scoop of Cookie Monster ice cream - it basically just tasted like sweet icey coconut. Not something I really wanted to spend dessert calories on. No samples either :( (at the truck) so so maybe the other flavors are better? I didn't try them so I would not know. read more

We cane to Gati for brunch, and we had an amazing time! Gati has a lot of southeastern inspired dishes that hit the spot! They have unique offerings you can't find in most Austin restaurants! We ordered the Moo Ping and Laksa! The moo ping was surprisingly really good and juicy. I loved the sauce accompanying it but I felt the rice was kind of off? We also got the Laksa, which is a Singaporean noodle dish staple! It was incredibly flavorful and did pack a punch so be careful if you can't handle spice. Gati is an absolutely adorable little cafe with tons of coconut based vegan ice cream flavors and a really impressive menu, where almost everything can be made vegan. I tried the mushroom congee (made vegan without eggs) and it was really good and a very generous portion. The Cookie Monster ice cream was calling my name - it's so blue and cute - and so delicious. I thought I reviewed this spot before, but I guess not! I am a big fan of Gati's dairy free ice cream. I am already a coconut lover, and each of these flavors are amazing. You can taste 2 before picking your favorites. On my first visit I got one scoop of blueberry and one scoop of lavender. OMG so flavorful and refreshing. This recent visit I sampled mint chip and apple cobbler. I went with the mint chip for my 2 small scoops. My fiance sampled the thai tea and the chocolate and went with just chocolate. Since it's made with coconut milk it tasted like chocolate coconut, which we both loved. I have also visited for brunch and can recommend the shrimp and grits. SO good. Very small parking lot out front, but nearby street parking is available on the residential streets. They have a sign that says dogs are allowed on the patio. I have also seen on Instagram that they have a back room for group parties that can fit about 15-20 people. Can't wait to go back again soon! read more
What a cute coffee and dessert spot! Me and some friends came for gelato after dinner and I did not realize that all of their gelato is coconut cream based so I ended up not trying anything. I really wish I enjoyed coconut but I still wanted to leave a review because my friends really enjoyed what they got and the employees here were very nice. Overall, I'd recommend! read more
Basically, my friend wanted icecream and chose this place to come get dessert from. it's literally down the block from where I live and right next to my dog's favorite corner store! So I've never been before, but after my single experience here, I do recommend this place. Definitely has a small business vibe yet maintained steady business the Friday night that we came. We chose it seeking ice cream, but the second that I saw the oatmeal cream pie cookie sandwich thing, I knew I immediately had to get it, and I did not regret it. I love the texture, the oats and the taste of the nutmeg. Honestly, I was already so full. I thought I was gonna explode and have to be rolled out of there..... so I couldn't finish it, but for the first time in weeks, I look forward to waking up tomorrow because the remainder of my cookie sandwich will be awaiting me. The blonde dude at the counter was super nice and patient . He was hella helpful to my friend that wanted to sample several different flavors of the ice cream. My friend (who is also the love of my life), could not recommend this place more. I thought the desserts were fire, but probably the funniest part was the couple who sat down next to us.... they had ordered ice cream cookie sandwiches, which looked bomb(!!!), but then the dude genuinely started complaining about how the cookies were Fucking cold......LMFAOOO duh mother fucker *crying face emoji*!!! It's an ICE CREAM sandwich. Do you prefer the icecream to be melted lmfao?! And his girlfriend literally took a fucking napkin and started wiping the ice cream off the cookie like he was three years fucking old. It was insane to witness and so #silly ! but anyways, beyond the point. Really interesting ice cream flavors! I've had Gati on my list of places to visit for years now, and I'm really glad I had the chance to visit tonight. Their ice cream is vegan and made from coconut milk, but it doesn't taste that coconut-y. I got the mango lime and pandan, and pandan is such a rare flavor to find in Austin. I enjoyed my ice cream, but I do prefer the texture to be creamier and more milky. However, I heard they have started to do brunch, so I'll come back for that! read more
