This place has no business at all being as good as it is. I got fried fish and fried chicken wings , cabbage,beans, and cobbler. I damn near beat the dog s$$t out the people I was eating with for the last bite of everything. You ain't never had food this good. I recently moved to the wood word park area and this place here has the kind of food you slap your mama for. Call your order in because this place busy af. It's worth the wait. Super SLOW and dirty, worker don't really seem like they care and the smell is hella weird here. Waited 25 minutes for the chicken and shrimp dinner and it definitely wasn't fresh. It was soggy as if it was reheated. Save your money if you are hungry and try another place. We went here for the first time food was ok way to salty, the customer service was horrible, I get it, it's busy and you have to tend to a lot of ppl but when you have a customer asking what's good on the menu and when do you recommend just a simple answer would be good instead of a blank stair then answering its all good but I'm tired of it with the eye rolling and smacking when asking a question. Was there 4 days ago to get a to go order. We waited 55 minutes for our food. Establishment was not full at all. We witnessed party of 3 come in to eat in and they sat for about 20 minutes before they finally went to counter to order. No one told them they needed to order then sit. Anyway we finally received our food and the fish was a bit salty and hard. This was the first time this happened however I was disappointed. I'm thinking call in and to go orders need to be done aside from the patrons that dine in. I always try to support local Black owned businesses but this is one business that I will never frequent again. We waited over an hour and a half for three plates when there was only a handful of people there initially. At the ten minute mark, we were told 20 more minutes and that was the last time anyone updated us on our order. The lack of customer service and organization in the kitchen completely overshadows the taste of the food. I'm always willing to pay for good food but never with my time. I now will have to throw my food in the air fryer to make sure it gets as crispy as it should've been when I finally received it. read more

Hard to find location. Opens at noon, so no time to eat by the time you order and wait. Fish was best eaten right away but nowhere to sit inside to enjoy. Needed a sauce but none was offered. A bit on the expensive side but the portions were enough for two meals. Mac n cheese was unusual, not great, not terrible. Had to "get used to it" One of those ok places that could be better with a little sprucing up and menu/pricing/ portion adjustment. If in the neighborhood again, I may give it another try. read more

But here is some good advice, get rid of the rude gentleman at the counter, there is nothing worse than me paying for your food, and be treated like crap. My husband heard about this place and wanted a plate so I stopped in on my way home after doing 16 hrs. Customer service was not great I was the first to order but not to get my food, they forgot to drop my fries for my fish plate. I specifically asked for regular fish and the gentleman told me that the fish wasn't spicy it was just how they serve it. I couldn't enjoy the plate because it was spicy and I don't eat spicy food do to health issues. One the other hand my husband said even though it was a little spicy he enjoyed his plate, for the price that I paid I'm glad one of us did. read more

Just tried this place recently and I'm so upset about it. I don't know what it is but it was not appetizing at all. Very disappointed. I order ribs & chicken plate and got NOTHING but fish. I didn't pay for fish. If they ran out of chicken and ribs, the least they could've done was at least told me. The cabbage was SO mushy, over cooked, TOO sweet, & almost like as if it was soup instead. Beans and cornbread was alright. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Let me tell you I have searched up and down the valley for a mom and pop chicken place and they are few if any, Fresno has few. Passing through Fresno and stopped at Doll's Kitchen (in the Chevorn Gas station). If you want good soul food stop at Doll's. Great fish, chicken and red Kool-Aid Also tried the Down Right Delicious cake which was delicious and the cheeseburger egg rolls. FYI will need lots of napkins. read more

It seems like any negativity stems from the small restaurant's large demand. This food was bomb.com. All the southern contractors at work have been raving so I had to try it.
