so overall this place is pretty good.. pretty decent decor, spacious, etc. food was decent, nothing amazing I was charged an extra 4$ to put avocado in my already $14 6 piece sushi (don't know what's going on over there) the 24 oz bone in rib was nothing amazing for its price...they claim it's prime and dry aged but I couldn't taste the dry age at all..the steak had more of a char than a crust and it was overcooked but overall despite all this it was still a pretty good steak (at least I'm not paying $90)..apple tart dessert was ok nothing amazing. Bread wasn't good, service wasn't too brilliant either; beyond the basic menu giving, water pouring and order taking they were not very helpful. Had to flag down 2 different waiters to ask for bread and mustard and it took them 10+ min to actually come through for something simple that should've been brought the moment we sat down. They had a waiter clean our table after appetizers and she just stuck our cutlery on top of our plates and shoved it all to the side while she cleaned and then just walked away without straightening everything out, leaving me to awkwardly straighten everything out, feeling like a waiter (do I get a percentage of the gratuity?) I didn't come with high expectations so I guess that made the experience better but I probably will not be returning as nothing there has piqued my interest enough to make it stand out read more

Started out slow from the moment we walked in. We were a party of 8 and even though we had reservations we had to wait 40 minutes. Once we got seated we had to wait forever to just get water. The entire night I had to keep getting our waiters attention for something as simple as water!!! Speaking of the waiter, for a restaurant that came out to $225 per couple, you would expect to get treated with a little more respect. The guy was rude!! I asked him a simple question about the menu, it said bone marrow mashed, so I asked is it regular bone marrow with bread on the side? He said "yes! that's what bone marrow is, marrow in the bone" with an attitude like I'm a complete idiot. Not one time did he come up to us to ask if everything is ok or if we need anything. Me and my friend clearly didn't touch our entrees. Any normal person would approach us and ask if something is wrong because our food wasn't touched in which we would reply that there was something wrong. I got the rib eye steak, medium, it came out bloody and 80% fat. My friends got cocktails which were microscopic, watered down. We all definitely enjoyed the appetizers. We ordered almost one of each and everything was amazing! But for a restaurant like this, the service was horrific and none of us would come back. read more

What an amazing experience! We do not keep kosher when out but had an occasion that warranted something special and something Kosher. I was concerned that they had only just opened 2 weeks before and that maybe the kinks were still an issue but I was wrong. The place is GORGEOUS and trendy and sceney for sure. The service was fantastic (which again I thought might be spotty due to the restaurant being new). We started with the Tuna Poke appetizer (a must have) the roast beet salad (very good but would skip next time to try something else) and the pulled meat tacos (also a must have). Three of us then shared the meat sauce pasta as well as the Chile rubbed steak cooked medium and 2 sides. The steak was cooked to perfection and the pasta was rich and flavorful. They only had 2 deserts- which makes things easy- we obviously had the simple chocolate cake and it was so rich and moist for a parve cake needless to say we loved it. Not living anywhere near there or needing to eat kosher will NOT keep us from coming here. Its really a Manhattan style and quality restaurant in Cedarhurst. read more

Expensive and food looks so cheaply made. I don't mind spending money, but I was not satisfied with my experience. The chicken pops were basically overly fried chicken wings (6) for 18 bucks. The chop chop salad was promised to have organic chicken, but there were maybe five little pieces for 20$. The dry aged hamburger for $32 tasted pretty ordinary to me. Very hipster vibe, this place is lacking in elegance. Hipster vibe is fine, but not when the check for 2 was close to $100. Did I mention the pelligrino was $9? Smh read more

Overall a very enjoyable dinning experience. We found out about it by watching restaurant hunter. The 42 ounce steak looked so.good and had 12 full length pieces on it. We brought our kids along knowing that we could not eat the steak alone. Well th6d one we got, which was delicious, only had ten pieces and two of those were small..so it was a good thing we ordered fish too or there would not have been enough food. The food at Doma is some of the best kosher food you will find anywhere. The steaks and seafood are top notch. We especially loved the steak for two (on the bone). The waitstaff was excellent and very attentive. On the negative side, the prices are also some of the highest prices you will encounter anywhere. Expect to spend at least $100 per person for dinner making this is "special event" only. The huge crowds dont seem to mind the prices, so expect a very noisy dinner during prime time. read more

I must say that after reading all the reviews on yelp I was pretty disappointed. I made reservations for 14 to celebrate my husbands birthday. When we arrived, the hostess refused to seat us until the whole party was present. When the manager came to speak with us, he was very rude. He did not let me speak and kept interrupting me. I went out to dinner with my wife for my birthday. My experience at Doma was superlative. The interior was beautiful and immaculate. The service was excellent as well. I had the ribeye steak. My wife had the skirt steak. Both were prepared perfectly and the aged beef was fantastic. We had the grilled vegetables, which were plenty for two and charred on an Argentinian "plancha". The food here was really delicious but all in all I had a very negative experience. From the moment we were seated, I got harassed by a group of men sitting at the table next to us. They were laughing/pointing/making crude remarks quite loudly. Not only did it make me uncomfortable but as the evening progressed it got worse. It was blatantly obvious to anyone watching that this behavior was incredibly rude and offensive. Two of these guys had the gaul to actually come up to my table and proceed to show me a picture of someone's junk. What made it worse was that our server clearly saw the whole thing go down and said nothing to them...letting them keep on harassing me. He saw how uncomfortable I was but did nothing. We almost walked out until we fortunately saw this group of clowns leave. Needless to say, this behavior is unacceptable and intolerable, especially in a restaurant with these prices. My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Doma this evening. This was our first visit and it will not be the last. The service was impeccable and the staff made us feel like regulars. We had two excellent salad appetizers and they were large enough and tasty enough to serve as entree portions. But, we were there to have that steak pictured on the restaurant's website. The Tomahawk steak for two was cooked to perfection. We had sides of mashed potatoes (with a big hunk of cooked bone marrow smack dab in the center of the serving) and mushrooms. For dessert, we had their own donuts which were perfect. But the service and the friendly atmosphere made us feel like we were valued. Everyone from the maitre d' to the owner/founder and the chef offered smiling welcomes and goodbyes. the wait staff was cheerful and very helpful with our choices. While it is very pricey, we felt that we got true value in a complete dining experience, My wife and I highly recommend Doma Land and Sea. read more

Came in with great expectations and left very disappointed. Walking in, the space is beautiful and the open window showing the hanging steaks is impressive. Once we were seated, it went downhill from there. The drinks were way overpriced and watered down. Given the price of the food (from appetizers to mains) you would expect top notch service. We had to ask numerous times for water to be filled. No tablecloths. No one wiping the table between courses. Someone bringing extra chairs and stacking them right next to our table during our meal. Someone replacing plates for mains while we were still eating appetizers. No one coming to check on our food after the $125 steak came with 80% fat and one main missing. The list could go on. We did flag down a manager to complain about the fact the steak had maybe one piece of meat and the rest fat and he did replace it for us, but overall at close to $225 per couple before tip, it was a great disappointment. I know people complain about Manhattan kosher food prices, but for the same price, there are much better options in Manhattan that include top notch service (including tablecloths!!!) and better food despite the higher Manhattan rent. read more
