every time i go, i come to the same conclusion that this place is the best value omakase in the city!! i would not recommend as your first omakase experience, since the chefs don't really introduce the dishes well. but if you already know which fish you like, i guarantee they'll give you a huge chunk of them here. also, the pacing was really weird (they gave us a random dessert in the middle of our savories) and the music was scuffed (they played Rasputin and Christmas songs in July?). and one of the dishes had the BEST uni sauce but there were like 5 random pieces of macaroni (felt really random...)?? very strange. but for 150$ per person and having good caviar, uni, otoro AND wagyu who am i to complain? the pieces were also HUGE and we left stuffed. the husband wife duo are also so cute and wholesome, and the whole experience is very unique. read more

Doma was one of our favorite dining experiences in 2026 so far! In a nutshell, the courses were pretty hearty and protein packed. More importantly, both the raw and cooked fish courses tasted incredibly fresh and tender. I completely lost track of the courses but there was somewhere between 10-15 and each one was delicious, no misses! What a rare feat. Our favorites were the Hokkaido scallop that was seared and topped with caviar. The restaurant itself is nestled in a residential area and run by what appeared to be a husband and wife duo. Service was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed that the sushi chef focused on making the courses while my wife and I caught up on our day. Sometimes we go to omakases and talk so much with the chef that it felt like we hardly spoke with each other. Some people may not enjoy this experience. Overall, I'd categorize Doma as a must try because it is definitely Yummy Certified. read more

It was a great experience from start to finish. We told any allergies at the beginning and then the sushi just key coming. Delicious. And if I were the type of person who takes pictures of food (I'm not) it was very photogenic the coat was high- but if you expect that the cost/ benefit was high. It was worth the price. The omakase is reasonably priced and a good value for the 12+ dishes we enjoyed. I never liked eating omakase or sushi in general, but Doma was the best omakase I've ever had, taste-wise and experience-wise. We were celebrating a birthday on a slower Wednesday night. The owners were very sweet, they were understanding even though my party ran 30 minutes late. They have a little floral wall so it's nice for photo ops too. The food was amazing. Normally, I wouldn't enjoy eating omakase but the food quality and quantity was just right. I actually left feeling full and did not need to order supplemental course. It's a little hard to find as it's located in a neighborhood, but worth it. Business looks a little slower compared to all the omakase spots in SF, but the quality and service is definitely worth it. Couldn't be more disappointed. It's a $30 level of meal, not $200. And most of that would go to ingredient costs, not cooking. I'm giving this two stars instead of one because we got a bottle of $15 sake for free, since the owner themself felt sorry, and at least the water is free. We had an appointment at 7:30, and we arrived 10 minutes early. It seemed like the previous round (6 people) was not finished. That's totally fine. But we were pushed away from the sushi bar and asked to be seated at an individual table far away, even though the bar was half empty. Originally, we were fine with that, but later it proved that we were totally wrong. We were sitting there for 30 minutes without anyone reaching out. After that, we got our water and the wine list. 45 minutes after we entered the door, finally, we got three pieces of sashimi. Ice cold, and I couldn't taste any flavor from the fish itself. My sashimi was even missing the wasabi. I am not feeling sorry for myself. I feel sorry for the fish that was ruined. Obviously, the cook doesn't know how to season the food properly most of the time. There was a shrimp where I could taste nothing but a sharp sourness, and there was a negitoro, minced tuna, that I remember, full of saltiness. That was the time when I was truly grateful that at least the water was free. When I tasted the fried egg roll, I almost laughed out loud. It was mushy inside, so you couldn't figure out what the ingredient was, and the outside layer was not even crisp. It's the same one you can get from any supermarket and cook at home. Even Panda Express can serve a better version. I still can't believe that I had this yesterday. It's like being invited to the White House and getting a Big Mac for dinner level of joke. Sincerely, if you don't know how to make an egg roll, or a Chinese spring roll, I can teach you. The dessert was another Costco-level mix-up. They were not even trying. The only thing good for the entire night, in 2.5 hours, was the eel. I'm not gonna lie. It was the best eel I've had this year so far. Hey, but I paid $200 for that. What else? A 22% tip is absurd. If there is a mandatory tip, include that in your price. How to reduce your tax is your problem, that's not my business. Or maybe they already knew that I would definitely put a 0 if it were optional. Since we were sitting isolated, most of our dishes came 5-10 minutes later than the main group. I was just sitting there and seeing that the main group got their dishes, and we got nothing. For the environment, I won't be too harsh on the cook's musical taste. But I'm definitely not okay with music that loud. I don't know why they dimmed all the lights. All pictures except the sashimi one were exposed for more than one second. Appearance is an important part of the food. Unless you are trying to hide something. read more

I came here earlier this year for Valentine's day with my girlfriend, and I have to say this is probably one of the most value for your dollar Omakase that you'll find within SF. While $150 is still a lot, for Omakase in the bay area it actually is a pretty good price as you get the whole experience watching the chef prepare the food for you. The inside is homey and well-decorated, with around 15 seats or so at the table around the chef who is in the middle. The service is great, and the chef/waiters are very attentive to everything you need. The food here is great and very high quality, as all the slices of fish are very fresh and imported from Japan. The flavors are top-notch, and it's a show when you get to see the chef use the torch on them right before you eat them. There is a wide variety of items, ranging from monkfish to uni to beef sashimi with gold flakes and caviar on top! I came out of here feeling full, so I think I definitely got my money's worth. Doma seems like a more local spot in SF, and so it might fly under a lot of people's radar. Highly recommend checking it out when you're able to! read more

The food is absolutely fantastic, for $150 we had a spectacular Omakase experience including wagyu, sashimi, a piece of a roll, and nigiri. The fish was superb and the nigiri all very interesting. The amount of food was perfectly filling and the pacing / number of dishes was similarly good. The atmosphere was not fancy, which we prefer. The chef was on the quieter side (which we prefer) but was plenty nice and answered your questions and made some nice small talk. Unprofessional and horrible business practices by Doma. Booked a valentines day reservation all the way back in November (3 months in advance) since I know its difficult to get valentines day reservations at most popular restaurants. I get a text message today (10 weeks after making the reservation) stating that they are increasing the price - $100 per person... totaling $200+ more for the meal total. I believe it is fair and reasonable to raise prices for valentines day but not by ~70% and not after this much time has elapsed. In addition they could simply be TRANSPARENT and state the increase price before booking on Resy like most restaurants do. This is extremely frustrating as I planned so far in advance and reservations for other popular restaurants are filled up. They just lost a customer, I will never be going back here. Beware, dont book here on any holidays unless you want them to jack up the prices on you astronomically. Not that they care - this business cares more about profits than customers. read more

Returning after what was very long time (pre-pandemic), the meal here is just as good if not better than before. The omakase has grown in price in the time I've been coming here but it also has grown in proportion. Fish and meat cuts are so generous but still maintain perfect balance. The omakase has the perfect blend of a few warm things, a few hand rolls, and a bunch of great sashimi in the middle. The husband and wife duo are still as sweet as ever and reservations are now taken! So coming here is is way easier. English is still a touch choppy but they are just as friendly and still too chatty...though the chef did want to cheer for the 49ers next week at the end of our meal. It is hard to get an omakase Valentine's Day reservation and my partner and I booked this place and dropped the other reservations we had thinking it was a cute mom and pop shop. They text us a week before Valentine's Day saying they have a special menu and increased the price two fold in a text message. All other restaurants state their Valentine's Day specials upfront on tock. This is clearly a bait and switch and they know it's impossible to make another reservation this late at other places so you are forced to accept their bait and switch.. this is so disingenuous and such a scummy move. We came here for a birthday dinner omakase, and we all LOVED our experience! It's a small, quaint location run by (presumably) a husband and wife owner duo. It felt like we were being served in someone's home kitchen, and I mean that in the best and most comfy way possible. The food was delicious and reminiscent of omakase joints with higher price points, but without any of the stuffy poshness. The service was next-level amazing; we actually had a birthday cake we wanted to keep as a surprise for the guest of honor, and communicated in advance to have the cake kept in the back before our reservation. Even while serving the fully seated sushi bar, they presented the cake at the end of our meal with a cake stand and a happy birthday song over the speaker! It was so kind of them to go that extra mile for us, and the dinner was something we will never forget. Be clear when you go here - this is not a standard sushi joint. This is a top level omakase with fish flown in from Japan. It's pricey, but a worthwhile splurge. My husband and I went on a weekend evening date night. The interior is small and intimate, with most diners seated at the bar. The food is outstanding. I am usually so so on uni. Here it was a delightful splash of the ocean. Even the dessert was special - super frozen vanilla ice cream with small bits of fruity mochi. Very disappointing experience. My boyfriend and I came for Valentines Day 2024, and arrived to our 6 PM reservation on time to find out that the sushi bar was completely booked. There was a side table behind the rest of the customers, where they directed us to sit. We were extremely surprised as we came for an omakase experience, and we were the only 2 people in the small restaurant that was not given a seat at the bar. We paid the same amount as other customers, yet we didn't get the same experience. There was no option on the Tock website to choose "bar only", and all the other reviews for Doma shared that the restaurant only had bar seating. It appeared that they just set up that table for Valentine's Day because they wanted to make extra business even though their space didn't allow for it. We ended up paying $391 for two people, while being sat away from the sushi chef and from the rest of the diners. When being served the food, it was not omakase style and I suspect it's because we were not at the bar. They served our sashimi on a plate of 3, whereas I'm sure the other customers at the bar were given their pieces course by course. We felt embarrassed and upset, and only decided to stay because it was 6 pm on valentines day and it would be difficult for us to find another restaurant on such short notice. We asked the lady why the other diners could sit at the bar, & she said that they booked it a month ago. I pulled up my email confirmation that showed I also booked mine a month ago as well. She just kept apologizing and shrugging it off, saying there was nothing she could do. Would give 0 stars if I could, and very disappointed we had to spend nearly $400 for a dinner where we were treated so unfairly. read more

I came here for a birthday dinner and each ingredient used is fresh and melt in your mouth good! I have never been a fan of monkfish liver and my boyfriend has never liked sea urchin but this restaurant definitely changed our perspective. The menu is $150 per person for omakase but the amount given is more than expected than an average omakase especially in San Francisco. I know many people don't really take into consideration for how a restaurant's bathroom is but this place has 3-ply toilet paper! I have never seen this in any restaurant in SF. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night, birthday dinner, or even just a casual dinner night out. I was not able to take photos of every dish because I got distracted eating. Exceptional sushi dinner experience top to bottom! I've been meaning to stop by Doma for a while and am so glad I finally made it happen. At first I was weary about the price fixe situation but my concerns were assuaged after one bite. But, he's probably too busy making beautiful babies with Mila Kunis. Hey, if I was Ashton, I would never get out of bed either - Mila is so hawt! Doma is a new "Omakase only" restaurant in Bernal Heights. It's walk-in only and they don't have a phone number, email, website, or social media page. Archaic but at least there was electricity? Three weeks ago, my friend and I arrived at 7:45 pm, was asked for how many (for 2), but was told "no" without any explanation. There was no one else waiting and they didn't close until 9 pm. Perhaps they ran out of fish for the night so this time around, we got there at 5:45 pm and was told to seat ourselves. Doma offers three Omakase choices: $45, $65, $80. Limited beer and sake selection. My friend and I ordered the $65 Omakase - app, sashimi, daily special, 10 pc nigiri, salad, soup, and dessert: *Banchan *Tofu *Sashimi: Maguro, Hamachi, Albacore *Chawanmushi *Ceviche *Nigiri: Hamachi, Hirame, Albacore, Shima Aji, Hamachi (again), Akami, Chutoro, Hotate, Sake & Ikura, Albacore (again) *Soup *Matcha Mochi & Green Apple Tea (Please excuse the bad pictures, it was dark inside with orangey lighting.) I'll start with the positives: +Nice owners. +Good Hitachino beer. +They did a good job renovating the old Jeffrey's pet store. +Fairly easy street parking. Now for the negatives: I hate giving a small business a negative review but new restaurant or not, the things that happened during our dinner shouldn't have never happened, not when you're spending nearly $100 pp out the door. While this is not a high-end omakase place, we at least expected dinner to be decent. The whole point of omakase is to enjoy a multi-course tasting menu with dishes chosen by the sushi chef that showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients and to have some social interaction with him/her. The sushi chef may ask what you like or dislike, and at the very least tell you what they're serving as they present it to you. I hate to go through all the missteps but this was the most frustrating and bizarre "omakase" experience ever. Out of all the omakase meals I've had, this is my first 1-star experience. For the food, it's not worth getting into details about every course, other than it was collectively not good. The fish selection was limited and run of the mill - we were served hamachi and albacore 4 times (!!!) making our meal overpriced. But for nigiri fans, it's worth noting that the shari (sushi rice) wasn't properly seasoned with an off texture. Knife skills were shoddy - most neta (fish) had jagged edges with sinew that even the poor lighting couldn't mask. The ikura was so salty that it may not have been rinsed properly. THE MOST WTF MOMENT... As the chef was handing me a nigiri, it fell apart. He took it back to piece together and told me to "be careful". I cautiously picked it up and it broke in half including the fish which was mushy from him digging his fingers into it while trying to put it back together. Meh food aside, the biggest issues with our experience was the chef's poor communication skills and lack of familiarity with his own menu. The chef would plop things in front of us and walk off without any explanation. For the 1st course, my friend kindly asked, what fish were being served and he didn't seem happy to tell us. He pointed at the strawberries and said, "hamachi". After asking several times what other fish were, he started mentioning what he was serving but he was inconsistent and would mumble. When serving the hamachi and albacore nigiri, he presented them as the "belly" portion but they weren't. They were the same cuts he served to us earlier. While it may not be intentional, it came off as deceptive. When we were presented with the "ceviche", my friend asked what fish was in it, and was told "albacore". We found there was also hamachi and salmon. Then, dessert was presented as "matcha mochi and green apple tea". It turned out to be raspberry mochi and juice. Mistakes happen but for those with food allergies beware. Oddly, the omakase wasn't properly coursed out; e.g. soup was plopped in front of us the same time as a piece of nigiri. If things couldn't get any worse, while waiting for dessert they made us move seats. Instead of kindly asking the newly arrived customers to wait 5 minutes for us to finish and pay our bill, we had to move our own place setting, water glass, and chair down the sushi bar. They didn't even wait until we were done with dessert before dropping our bill on the table (we were in/out in about hour). Overall, 1 star but adding an extra star for the young, kind server who did his best to explain some courses. I wish the owners best of luck and I hope they're able to figure things out but I would NOT recommend Doma for a legit omakase meal. read more

Don't expect the presentation level of a place like The Shota, but it more than makes up for it with quick service, a large meal, and the experience including uni, fatty tuna, wagyu and sake as part of the (relatively) cheap prix fixe price of $150.
